Hi everyone,

I thought I would make a thread for those who are trying to conceive their first child.

I love reading about everyone's journey, but sometimes I just need a space where I can talk to others who are dreaming of their first bundle of joy 💫

I am 31 and on cycle #8. My periods were classed as irregular but since having the coil removed, they seem to have settled and I now have 30-33 day cycles. I threw my OPKs in the bin this month, they were stressing me out and after DTD on my peaks but getting AF's just upset me even more. I am hoping to take a more relaxed approach from now on.

Sending love and hope to everyone on their unique journeys 💖

@itsnearlymytime Maybe something!! Got everything crossed for you, do you usually get period cramps a whole week before? X

itsnearlymytime · 09/06/2022 11:45

@Freespirit98 no I don't! Usually 3 days before but wonder if my body is playing tricks on me! The main thing I've noticed is I keep getting hot flushes which has never happened xx

Drf · 09/06/2022 11:53

@itsnearlymytime 🤞🤞🤞
You have such good self control, I'd have peed on at least 3 sticks by now😅 looks like there's a few people testing at the weekend 🤩 I'm gonna be checking mumsnet like mad for updates 😁

itsnearlymytime · 09/06/2022 11:54

@Drf by next Friday I mean the 17th 🙈 I'm only 6dpo! Feel really nauseous, can you convince yourself you feel sick is that a thing?? Hahaha

Drf · 09/06/2022 12:00

Oooohhh OK sorry that's me that can't read🙈 haha

Bundaberg84 · 09/06/2022 12:00

@newbiegreenfingers fingers crossed for you too! Keep us posted 😊

newbiegreenfingers · 09/06/2022 12:09

@Bundaberg84 thank you! I absolutely will. At this rate you'll all find out before Mr Greenfingers.

You keep us updated too please :)

SFrancis1 · 09/06/2022 12:52

Good luck to @Bundaberg84 @newbiegreenfingers @Freespirit98 and @itsnearlymytime for the upcoming testing time 🤞

Do you test every cycle or just when AF is late? I have never tested, even when AF is late. I am too scared to encase it is a BFN, but then I get my hopes up during those late days. Maybe I should test if AF has not made an appearance on the predicted day, save me from getting hopeful.

TTC is one huge rollercoaster and a lot of questioning 🤔

@SFrancis1 thank you! And good luck to everyone else this weekend.

2 cycles ago I did an early response test (I've forgotten the acronym for it) and got a BFN, so I thought "I won't do that again in a hurry". Last cycle I did 2 cheapie tests, one before AF was due and one when it was late. Obviously both were BFN.

If there's no sign of AF on Saturday I'll use the other early response test on my first wee. Is there an acronym for first wee yet?

Loouloo · 09/06/2022 14:05

@SFrancis1 I’ve taken a few early test and a few times I’ve waited until if AF was officially late. I think I prefer to wait until the day AF is officially late. However, this cycle I’ll take one early, I’m going away with work for a night on what I predict will be 12 and 13 dpo so I plan to take a test in the morning of 11 dpo, just so I know if to drink alcohol free

Welshgal85 · 09/06/2022 18:43

What does SEMP stand for? Can’t keep up with all the jargon 😂

when is it best to test? Is it best to wait until AF due or will it show up on a test a few days before?

Drf · 09/06/2022 21:53

@Welshgal85 sperm meets egg plan! It's just a timing method really, you dtd every 2nd day until you get a peak opk then you do it for 3 days in a row, then rest for a day, then dtd one final time for good luck.

Gizzy93 · 10/06/2022 01:52

BFN for me today. I did have some pulling on my right side and I had my ov pains on that side too, so 🤞
I also think FF got my ov wrong and I'm actually 7DPO, not 9...

Bundaberg84 · 10/06/2022 08:11

@Gizzy93 I use both FF and premom. Premom always suggests ovulation a day earlier than FF. I always go with the one that suits me better ;) but assuming you are 9dpo, not even 50% of all pregnant women will test positive by then. And at 7dpo, 93% will test negativ!
Maybe you already know this site, my holy grail of sanity, but here we go: www.countdowntopregnancy.com/pregnancy-test/dpo-chart.php?dpo=7

Loouloo · 10/06/2022 08:28

Ready for a new cycle! CD 8 today, I usually ovulate CD 15 or 16, do you think it’s enough if I start ovulation tests on CD 10/11 or should I start tomorrow?

Gizzy93 · 10/06/2022 08:33

Thank you @Bundaberg84!! I'll definitely check it out!

Drf · 10/06/2022 08:36

@Loouloo I'd say you'd be fine to start on 10/11. I just bought the really cheap tests from boots, just the strips, and used them until they were getting much darker then switched to the digital one. The digi ones are so expensive 😩 that way a packet of digital lasted more than one month!

newbiegreenfingers · 10/06/2022 10:24

I started spotting this morning which usually means AF is around the corner. Feeling a little deflated I did a little online shopping Blush ok it wasn't that little... how does everyone else cope with AF's arrival?

SFrancis1 · 10/06/2022 13:27

@newbiegreenfingers sorry to hear you have started spotting. It is not over until AF arrives! 💖 I treat myself too when AF arrives. Did you buy anything nice?

OP posts:
newbiegreenfingers · 10/06/2022 15:45

Thank you @SFrancis1. I know you're right, it just feels too late for ovulation spotting and the right time for period spotting... so I'm mentally preparing for AF.

I bought a few things in the Lululemon sale... I am a basic girl at heart and would happily live in their leggings every day if I could. I've also got MIL staying this weekend so retail therapy seemed like the best course of action. Have you got nice plans for the weekend?

SFrancis1 · 10/06/2022 18:42

@newbiegreenfingers I must admit I googled Lululemon because I had no idea what it was 😂 when my last AF arrived I booked myself a massage, it is tomorrow...I am looking forward to it! It is hard when AF arrives, but we can't be hard on ourselves. Ride out the emotions and pick ourselves up for the next cycle.

Does anyone have any positives about TTC (excluding pregnancies)? I can safely say I have never owned so many nice lingerie sets until we decided to remove the coil. Never felt so confident before 😊

I've woken up at 3am the last two mornings, which I remember happening with my chemical in January.
My throat is very sore today, but that's the only "cold" symptom I have.

I had a very weird and vivid dream last night. Right at the end of it, I hugged my partner and said "next cycle, it'll happen" 🤔

Bundaberg84 · 11/06/2022 09:21

I'm out. Right on time. At least I didn't waste a test, but I was so convinced I was pregnant this cycle, I don't know what's wrong with me. I am usually so logical and know to trust my body. I will allow myself to feel down today. I got an awesome trip planned without DH in my next fertility window that bugs me a bit, but maybe a break will be good for me, even though I slowly lose hope.

ChloeN · 11/06/2022 09:49

Morning lovelies, has anyone had experience of being poorly and it messing up their cycles? Ive not been well and think I might of ovulated late, so will my period also be late now too? I don’t want to be hoping I’m pregnant when I’m a couple of days late this month!

newbiegreenfingers · 11/06/2022 10:15

@Bundaberg84 exactly the same for me :( I have MIL with us this weekend so haven't got much space to feel. A new cycle is a new chance though :)

@ChloeN I'm pretty sure illness can mess with your cycle... have you done a test?
