Thanks all. We have another local-ish clinic that I think if we do find sperm we will explore having IVF with them. I'm going to see on the off chance if anywhere could fit us in for an SSR in the next few weeks but if not I guess we are stuck with current clinic. You are right though, it's the trust that's been broken and I'm not sure id wait to continue using them after SSR.

Thinking of you today @Tinkerbell098 ! ❤️❤️

Hope everyone else is doing ok!

Honestly how lucky are we to have this group? It really is a big support.

lemons44 · 28/09/2022 12:39

Want to continue using them after SSR*

Koalie · 28/09/2022 14:24

@lemons44 so lucky ! I think when we finally all have our babies we should all meet up 🥰 (is that even possible on here? 🤔)

BakinABaby · 28/09/2022 15:08

Oh @lemons44 that sounds so frustrating. I know I'm a hot head and I would've thrown my papers in their face already and stormed off 😅

@Tinkerbell098 best of luck to you, I hope everything goes as perfectly as possible!

I'm just chilling here on my week before ov and doctor's appointment. Dd's birthday party is on saturday and I'm kinda busy planning that and various work stuff. We also have demolition men coming on monday to the apartment we bought in january and we can finally start with the renovations, so plenty to keep my mind off things and with any luck moved in AND pregnant by Christmas. One can hope :D

Koalie · 28/09/2022 17:24

I’ve just found out that my sub fertility referral still hasn’t been sent because the GP is ‘busy’ 😭 that’s 2 months we’ve now lost because we were told we were being referred at the beginning of August! Does anyone know if I have any chance getting it expedited when it does get picked up by the fertility clinic?? 🙏🏼 I should have had my HyCosy by now and be in the queue for IVF 😩

Tinkerbell098 · 28/09/2022 17:59

Hi everyone thanks again so much for the well wishes. Transfer was so quick an easy. We were in and out in 10 mins! They gave me a picture of the blastocyst under the microscope to take home. They transferred what they called a top quality hatching blast. They said there was another top quality one that they would freeze (not as good as this one apparently!). One is out, they would let me know about the other two tomorrow if they’re good enough to freeze or not. So we’ll have at least one great one to freeze. So I’m please with that. We went for a nice breakfast after. Weirdly I was craving some raw onion which came with a side salad with my OH’s dish. I hate raw onion, but for some reason my body was saying “have it!” . So strange! Went for a gentle walk, had a nap and just relaxing now. I’ve got the day off work tomorrow too so it’ll be a nice chilled couple of days. It feels surreal! I’ve got the picture of the blastocyst and the ultrasound scan picture (with the blast in the uterus) up on a shelf. Closest we’ve ever been to being pregnant (knowingly!) and just enjoying the feeling.

Tinkerbell098 · 28/09/2022 18:05

@lemons44 im so sorry you’re going through this. As others have said, I’d prob research other places to go for ivf as you need to trust the clinic when you’re going through something that is so emotionally challenging. Demand to get another aneasthetist to look over the notes and schedule in an appointment. It’s not acceptable! They need to understand what they’re putting you through!

@Koalie that is so so annoying! Why is the GP just sitting on it? Is there someone you can complain to at the GP surgery? I know how frustrating it is as mine has been delayed god knows how long and in the end I went private to get a referral for IVF or I’d still be on the hycosy list. It’s really bad!

Koalie · 28/09/2022 18:23

@Tinkerbell098 thank you for sharing, that was so lovely to read! How amazing that you got to see the blastocyst, that is certainly one of the perks of having IVF! Sounds like you had a lovely day 🥰

So after you had your HyCosy privately, how did you then get to IVF on the NHS? Was it because by that point your referral had reached them so you just didn’t then have to go through the process of having it with them? I guess that’s something we could consider but it’s like £750 including the initial consultation to go private 😫 x

Tinkerbell098 · 28/09/2022 19:02

@Koalie no the private consultant can refer to nhs ivf which I didn’t realise either. Apparently for treatment they can refer, but not for tests is what she said. So any blood tests (AMH) and hycosy, you’ll need to go private. After the results, they can refer you. Worth checking if this is the case with any private consultant you’d be seeing but certainly was the case for me. So I jumped the nhs queue by a fair bit by doing that. But my area was so bad though for waiting lists. GP referred me in Aug 2021. I only got the first letter come through in June 2022. I saw the private consultant on Feb 2022, referred to ivf in March 2022, first ivf clinic appointment was June 2022 and now I’m done. That’s with two cycles being delayed due to some consent forms changing and Aug bank holiday.

FlyOnTheWall89 · 28/09/2022 20:07

Woooo this is so exciting @Tinkerbell098 - take it easy and enjoy being PUPO as they call it haha. I didn't have ANY symptoms before my positive so don't panic if you don't. Hoping the next few weeks go really quickly for you. X

Tinkerbell098 · 28/09/2022 20:19

@FlyOnTheWall89 thanks so much! Hope you are keeping well X

Carla2601 · 28/09/2022 22:23

@Tinkerbell098 that’s such great news! We had a Hatcher transferred too (still no idea what that actually means really haha). Hoping for more good news in the morning that there might be some more in the freezer for you too. Well done on getting through today and as you say enjoy it that was the approach I tried to take. Keep us posted with how you’re feeling x

Carla2601 · 28/09/2022 22:24

@Koalie that is so frustrating and it happens a lot (I know this because they told me one month to wait max for my funding and by the time I got it I was 4 months pregnant) but I’m sorry it’s happening to you and hope you can get it sorted quickly from here

Koalie · 28/09/2022 22:40

@Tinkerbell098 ahhh I see! That makes more sense now, thanks for explaining. I spoke to the lady at the clinic near me who would book and do the HyCosy when the referral reaches them and she said she’s currently picking up referrals that were made 6 weeks ago so the wait isn’t tooooo long for us if we could just get the GP to send the bloody referral. And I suppose we still have the option of trying whilst we wait. It’s just frustrating seeing all the time we’re losing in the IVF queue 😔

@Carla2601 omg no way! Was that because you gave up waiting and went private for your IVF? X

Carla2601 · 28/09/2022 23:22

@Koalie yep, so frustrating isn’t it!!

Tinkerbell098 · 29/09/2022 07:26

@Koalie thats not too bad then. In my area, there was a massive backlog to clear due to covid so everything was taking forever. The wait after a hycosy to see a consultant to then refer for ivf was another two months and then another 3-4 months for ivf appointments. So that’s half the year gone. With private, had the initial appointment, the hycosy on my next cycle and got referred the following week. So I cut down a massive wait there. Age and AMH is not on my side so had to act fast. It’s so unfair for anyone who cannot afford to go down that route. We all pay our taxes but it’s not fair at the point of usage.

Tinkerbell098 · 29/09/2022 07:27

@Carla2601 thanks! It’s not up to my uterus to accept the Hatcher. Test day is next Friday so not long at all. Although it’s going to feel like a longest week ever!

Tinkerbell098 · 29/09/2022 07:28

It’s now up to my uterus *

Koalie · 29/09/2022 07:49

@Carla2601

Koalie · 29/09/2022 07:50

@Carla2601 @Tinkerbell098 oh god! I could be in for a long wait then 🙄 suppose we better pray we fall naturally again and with a sticky bean this time 🤞🏼

lemons44 · 29/09/2022 08:43

So happy it went well @Tinkerbell098
I really like hearing your experience and also when @Carla2601 had hers as it makes me feel less scared of the process. I'm glad u have a day off to relax. Maybe just put a box set on and wrap up in a blanket on the sofa.

Oh god @Koalie when I read your post I felt so angry for you. It's just infuriating. I think because I'm in a simile position of just waiting around i feel especially angry on your behalf. We still haven't had a letter for our NHS referral come through but I'm hoping they made ours. That was about 3/4 months ago I think so hoping they didn't forget.

lemons44 · 29/09/2022 08:44

@Koalie and YES I would love to one day meet everyone in person with our future babies can you imagine?!. It would be so weird seeing everyone's real faces 😂

lemons44 · 29/09/2022 08:48

@BakinABaby that sounds like a lot to keep you busy! Is it a big renovation job? I love seeing renovations but would never have enough guts to do one

Indianna2006 · 29/09/2022 08:49

@Tinkerbell098 how exciting. Best of luck and hope the next week flys by for you until testing. Try not read into any signs. Sometimes no signs is a good sign. No had any idea 3 out of 4 times that I was pregnant until I saw the line xx

Koalie · 29/09/2022 09:00

@NatW2021 @Tinkerbell098 .. the 3 of us are technically in the tww together! Anyone got any plans to pass the time? I’ve booked a hair cut lol gunna have quite a bit chopped off 💇🏻‍♀️

Right, so ladies, I have a question that I can’t seem to find an answer to on Google so am wondering if any of you know… so as you may or may not know, the longer the sperm sits around in a man’s Kahoonas, the less fresh they are (which is why men with low motility/morphology/High DNA frag are better off abstaining for less time before having sex) … but is that the same for the sperm sitting around in the uterus waiting for the egg? I.e is it better to try and have sex as close to ovulation as possible or does it not make a difference once the sperm are out and about? 😆 x
