I have created a new thread as the previous one is about to fill up. I've tagged some of us here, but apologies if I have missed anyone.

The thread is for anyone who has started/ about to start fertility investigations or treatment. Come join us, we are a lovely bunch :)

Thanks, @Tinkerbell098 !

I had a scan today that gave me the all clear, so starting stims tonight!! All fingers crossed that the gentler approach yields some better quality eggs....although I am now obviously paranoid that reducing the stims might leave us with nothing. Oh well, if all else fails we'll still have the option of a duostim :o)

Maybe the new thread will bring some luck to the process ! 🍀

99pctpractice · 31/03/2022 16:23

@Gracie2021 do you mind me asking how long your second stims phase was? I am a bit concerned that if we do duostim the second egg collection might be in the middle of our holiday.....

new thread bookmarked! thanks for the add. x

@beckyCarlos love acupuncture, I am currently trying to go every two weeks I don't think that's enough but my bank says otherwise!

Tinkerbell098 · 31/03/2022 16:59

@beckyCarlos enjoy your session! You deserve it :)

@pinkginpls I know, it's so expensive. I used to go every 10 days ish for the first couple of months and now only go every 5-6 weeks.

Hello 👋 - may this be all of our last threads.

I'm CD9 on cycle 1 with letrozole (2.5mg only). Glad I'm only taking it CD 2-6 as it definitely gave me a cracking headache.

Can I just ask you here ladies for those of you going through fertility treatment, how often are you told to DTD when trying to conceive?

Report
Kay00 · 31/03/2022 22:38

@99pctpractice Goodluck with the stims! Are you on a low dose this time?

@TheDaydreamBelievers How are you feeling now, has the headache gone? Have you felt anything in the ovaries? Will you be getting scanned or just a blood test on day 21?

@Queenbee22 It really depends on what fertility treatment you're having. If it ovulation support such as Clomid or Letrozole you will be encouraged to DTD every other day until ovulation is confirmed. If you are having IVF then the days you can DTD will be strictly monitored so that you do interrupt the process or cause harm.

Report
Kay00 · 31/03/2022 22:39

@QueenBee22 If its IUI then you will have a window in which to DTD

TheDaydreamBelievers · 31/03/2022 23:53

@kay00 nah nothing happening yet! OPKs negative. Still spotting though, which isn't like me. So I wonder if it's a side effect

Please can I join? Been trying for over 2yrs without any success and we’re doing tests at the moment with a view to having a consultation with an IVF clinic as soon as my husband’s sperm analysis results come back. I’m going to be 38 later this year and wouldn’t qualify for NHS IVF due to my weight (I have PCOS and have already lost two stone but would need to lose another few, at least, to be eligible). I’m also on the waiting list for the NHS assisted conception service in case they recommend Clomid (which doesn’t seem to have a weight limit) or by some miracle I manage to lose the weight before the appointment. Good luck to everyone, it’s a really difficult and stressful time!

@CharlotteYorkMacDougal Welcome! I also have PCOS and have recently completed six months of Clomid. Congrats on the weight loss, its really an amazing achievement and will really increase your changes of success with either Clomid or IVF. Good luck with your test results!

Hello! I hope it's ok to join. I am very early days. Just getting the initial bloods (cd1- all normal other than high free testosterone, 21 I'll get 7days after opk +) etc done for a referral. I have only spoken to the GP on the phone so I know when I go in for my appt she will take one look and write me off for my weight I'm sure!
I have been using OPKs and this month started using a Mira analyser for LH, oestrogen and progesterone. I've always known my cycles were nuts and crazy long but this has just made me realise there is definitely something not quite right but I don't know what it could be or what treatments I might need (other than weight loss).

It looks like you guys are possibly a bit further down the investigation route so I'd love to follow and cheer you on!

@els05 welcome :) you've done so much more tracking than me! I never actually saw my gp, just my practice nurse for the bloods (and a couple of follow ups, vitamin d recheck check etc), so you might swerve that. I cant remember if the practice nurse did height and weight, but if it helps I didnt have them done again until my IVF booking appointment thing where I had screening bloods done which might give you time if youre looking to change your diet etc :)

Ladies...I am booked for egg collection!! Noone is more shocked than me and my husband. My little folicles are now 22mm and 20mm! From 13, and 15 (almost 16) on Thursday. Triggering tonight, with egg collection on Monday morning. I'm now freaking out because I'd written it all off, and am resisting the urge to google it! Does anyone have any tips? I've got the general info about showering, no makeup, no food after midnight (like I'm a gremlin), no water 2 hours before, but anything else? X x

els05 · 02/04/2022 18:59

@beckyCarlos that’s good to know! I am on the old slimming world train again so hopefully can shift a bit.

Very exciting about the egg collection!!!

@beckyCarlos that is excellent news! Sounds like you're doing all the right things so no tips - just make sure you have an easy day after, something good lined up on the telly watch and something delicious to eat after your fast. Hope all goes well!

Good luck @beckyCarlos ! That's amazing!! My only advice is don't expect too much from yourself afterwards. First EC I felt fine and went shopping and got a pedi afterwards, second EC I was completely floored and spent the rest of the day in bed. So it can be a bit unpredictable... all fingers crossed it goes well for you!!

@Kay00 yes, I'm on lower stims (300 gonal f compared to 450 for the first round and 300 + 250 menopur for the second). Will be interested to see if nothing happens or if it's much slower than my previous rounds (which were pretty slow already, to be honest). But they can always adjust upwards if they need to, I guess

Hi @CharlotteYorkMacDougal and @els05 ! Welcome :o)
