Trying for baby number 3

Me and my husband have just started trying for our 3rd baby this month. Probably being a little bit over enthusiastic but just wanted to create a thread for anyone else in the same boat and hoping for a BFP in the next 4-6 weeks 😃

Would be lovely to hear from people hoping for the same outcome very soon!

Thanks @MummyMe87 and @HelloNope

I've never tested until my period is late and kind of wishing I hadn't this time. It's like clockwork though. I've taken the test and a few hours later now have period like pains.

I didn't think I'd feel this deflated as it's only our first month of properly trying really, but I'm already feeling like I can't put myself through this feeling every month for goodness knows how long 😩

@dani9031 I feel crap too even though its only our first month. And then feel ridiculous and guilty for feeling crap when I know how lucky I am to have 2 children already that I haven't struggled at all to conceive and to even think it would happen in the first month was never realistic. Hopefully it's just first month over excitement and it will be a bit easier to chill about it now the first month is over.

Yes I agree with that also. We have 2 kids and we are very lucky, and yes probably first month over enthusiasm! Can't help feeling how you feel though x

I feel pregnant straight away with my first but it took 5/6 cycles with my second. It was super frustrating as I thought it would just happen straight away when we ttc our second. Completely get the disappointment! I started doing period presents, when AF was due I would book something nice for me to do: massage, hair cut, play date etc.

Is anyone else putting a time frame on their ttc3? I’m unsure if I would want to go past winter of this year. Just from an age gap pov and getting older etc

allthingssparkly · 12/02/2022 20:34

Does anyone on here know if OPK's can detect early pregnancy?

I haven't got any pregnancy test at home to test.

This was my OPK at approximately 4pm today and it was the same when I tested at 8am this morning.

We haven't really spoken about putting a time limit on it as I'm hoping we don't get to that point, but I think it'd probably be about a year for us personally as I don't know if I'd have the strength to go down the intervention route, and I think that would be ultimately the decider for us that we would stop trying xx

I honestly couldn't say either way. Not much help, sorry! Hopefully someone sees this and can give you a more definitive answer xx

Oh I'm not sure haven't thought about the time frame. Took 11 months with DS and 22 months with DD so I really don't know. Ideally we'd love a small gap this time and close the baby years for good!
MummyMe87 · 12/02/2022 22:42

I have no time limit set, I think we would kee going. We have 3.5yrs between first two and my youngest is currently 4yrs, And I’m 35yrs

HellsBellsK · 13/02/2022 07:55

I have no time limit really. Hopefully we will be pregnant at some stage this year. I am 36 in April. However I will reassess at the end of the year. Our eldest is 4, 5 in August.

I am just finishing up a Masters so wanted to get that out of the way before baby was born.

@allthingssparkly I'm not sure - I had this last cycle and I wasn't pregnant. I read up about it and I think for it to be positive it has to be darker then the control line.
But you could also be pregnant , you never know.

allthingssparkly · 13/02/2022 08:16

@HellsBellsK Yeah I am patiently waiting for the test line to go darker, I think it's getting there. I'm CD11 today and my cycles are 29 days.

I don't want to test and be disheartened 😩

HellsBellsK · 13/02/2022 08:49

@allthingssparkly If its getting darker that is a good sign. You have already had your peek ovulation day?

I know I am the same. I hate testing so usually just wait until my period arrives. If it doesn't I Usually test after 3 days.
Period is due this day next week and I am not to hopeful.

allthingssparkly · 13/02/2022 08:57

@HellsBellsK It looks like mine are getting darker I've been testing since CD7.

None have indicated as "high" or "peak" yet so I don't know if I've missed it or it's yet to come?

I've attached a picture of mine so far.

Baby dust to you ⭐

HellsBellsK · 13/02/2022 09:10

Sorry @allthingssparkly I think I picked you up wrong. I though you had ovulated already and in the TWW and did another test.

I have a 28/29 day cycle and usually get a peek around CD13/14. Just keep going they way you are test twice daily so you don't miss it.

Good luck!

allthingssparkly · 13/02/2022 11:24

I can't have missed my ovulation then, if that's the case. CD11 today, Pre Mom app says I'm currently in my fertile window so I'll just have to wait patiently for my peak to come! Thank you x

MummyMe87 · 13/02/2022 12:18

@allthingssparkly it will probably come this week. I ovulate CD 13 in a 25/26 day cycle. Keep doing OPK twice a day, I do lunch and evening to catch your peak

allthingssparkly · 13/02/2022 12:27

@MummyMe87 I will keep doing them, I have just done a pregnancy test and that was negative as I was concerned I may have already been pregnant.

However that rules that out and I'll continue to test and DTD this cycle in hope that I get some good luck 🤞

FourOclock · 13/02/2022 13:20

Hey, can I join the chat? Smile we have decided to officially start trying this month for our third. Period just finished!

allthingssparkly · 13/02/2022 14:58

@FourOclock Good luck to you! ⭐

satelliteheart · 13/02/2022 23:10

On time limits, dh ideally would give it 6 months I think but to be honest I'm not sure we'd stop trying at any point. It took 9 months first time and 1 month second, so we should hopefully get pregnant this year. I guess we'll just see how it goes and reassess in a few months if still no pregnancy

FourOclock · 14/02/2022 11:14

I don't think we have a time limit, but I think I'd probably stop trying for a few months to avoid giving birth at my husband's busiest time at work. We didn't do that with our first as it took about a year to conceive and not knowing if we ever would have a baby we didn't want to risk ruling some months out. We've got a while until that though, would want to avoid getting pregnant November/December time I think

MummyMe87 · 14/02/2022 13:44

If it doesn’t happen this month for us, I’m not sure about TTC for the following two cycles. If it worked would end up with a due date mid December or mid January. Well I’m not fond of a December birthday and my youngest is jan 14th and I’m jan 15th….. equally I don’t want to dick around. So difficult

allthingssparkly · 14/02/2022 13:58

@MummyMe87 Thank you, really hoping these next few days fly by 🤞 I'm on edge waiting for my peak 😬

Yes my two both have January birthdays and it's expensive!! Not sure a third would be ideal. But it is DH's quietest time at work so works well in that sense.
