Anyone fancy starting an ongoing thread for those who are having IVF/ are planning to try again via IVF soon?

Ds was conceived via IVF - he's now 2.6 and we're stepping back on the scary rollercoaster ride with a FET - I started taking the drugs yesterday!

EHM...I inject the buserylin too.
I didn't know anything about sniffing 'til I came on here!!!!!

SS...hope all is going well with you ET today...exciting stuff....hopefully will be me this time next week.

Soosy...I've lost the thread slightly!
Have you had your ET yet?
I know you've got lots of 'goodies' but wasn't sure if they'd gone back in yet or not.
Okay....now I've managed to find it!
Hope you get your phone call this afternoon and that all is really good news.
X

onlyaphase...thinking about you too.

My goodness it's all happening here isn't it??!!

EHM · 30/01/2008 13:43

coggy phew I thought it was just me heres me thinking after 5 attempts I knew everything there was to need to know! How have the injections been for you, is this first attempt? Sorry to be so nosey

EHM · 30/01/2008 13:47

apologies coggy I've just read back & noticed its your first go I also noticed somebody had mention that the clinic can give you something to bring on you af.you learn something new everyday. I am also a regular posted on the Fly Thread. It keeps me sane. I hoping that this thread will do the same IVF wise.

soosy · 30/01/2008 14:04

Hello everybody, good luck today SS with your transfer, Hope all goes well, do you have to have a full bladder, I do and it's bl*y awlful as you get squeezed, both sides, by the ultrasound and the speculum. I nearly peed all over the consultant once and he wasn't wearing scrubs, but a shirt & tie ha ha.

Coggy how's it going I hope your response is still going well.

Hi EHM good luck with this cycle, it seems to me that different clinics have different ideas about treatment and have various tweaks! but i think ultimately it all ends up being basically the same.

i am waiting to ring the ACU today to find out a time for my ET tomorrow, I hate the hanging around so much.

S xx

Onlyaphase · 30/01/2008 14:08

Soosy - not sure if you are having ET today, if so good luck.

SS - good luck with transfer today. Have you got many blasts defrosting today or will you have some left? Very nosy, sorry

Welcome to EHM too.

Another scan today - good news is that they don't (subject to blood test results) think I have a cyst anymore, as there are now 5 of them, so they think they are giant follicles instead. Was told to rush home and start injecting organutran or whatever it is called that stops ovulation. EC has been brought forward to next Monday rather than a week on Friday which I think is good news? Must go and rearrange the childcare I had so carefully organised for a week on Friday.....

soosy · 30/01/2008 14:11

Onlyaphase must have just crossed you, sounds like you have had a really good response, yes I always think its better to have thing brought forward rather than pushed back.

soosy · 30/01/2008 14:31

just received an email from DH about a nasty computer virus which can wipe your PC and use your email account and password. It comes with an attachment 'life is beautiful'. Do not open it but delete it immediately, pass the message on to everyone you know, as the virus at the moment is unstoppable. The message came from Microsoft and Norton

EHM · 30/01/2008 15:37

soosy Thanks & good luck for tomorrow.
onlyaphaseThanks. sounds like received unexpected but really good news.

soosy · 30/01/2008 17:46

I am having a bit of a crisis, I rang clinic, as asked at 3pm, about my transfer tomorrow, and was told that someone would call me back, no-one has and when I rang after 5 the answer machine was. Luckily we live near the hospital and I went to go and find out what was going on. I met one of the nurses outside, who told me the transfer is at 1pm tomorrow, but can't confirm until tomorrow am. I am a seething mass of anger, frustration and tears, am taking large quantities of rescue remedy to try and keep calm, but finding really hard. Am I over reacting or this is just c* esp as I am trying v hard to arrange acupuncture as well for tomorrow, I mean I know that ivf is stressful, but I didn't think the clinic was supposed to contribute. Finally should I complain?

Sorry about the rant, its just DH is out tonight...

SaveScrabulous · 30/01/2008 18:12

Soosy - that's dreadful when it's all stressful enough anyway. I hope things get sorted out first thing in the morning.

OAPhase - that's fab news. I have to confess I thought it said you had to start injecting orangutan....I think today has gone to my head!

Well we had the ET. There were 4 frozen blasts, they defrosted 2 so we still have two left as both survived.

One was goodish and the other a bit dodgy but both are 'on board'!!

Soosy yes I needed a full bladder which is always problematic for me as it takes forever to fill. I had over 3 litres of water! I've worked out today the problem is actually that it takes a lot longer than normal for the water to end up in my bladder than most people!

Not sure how to feel. I actually am surprisingly relaxed in my mind about it all although not managing to rest up at all with ds running around.

coggy · 30/01/2008 18:26

SS...I am VERY excited for you. Two inside is excellent....now the even harder bit I guess....waiting!
Everything crossed for you. X

onlyaphase....I would love to have monster follicles!! I haven't had a scan yet but I'm due for one on Friday....I don't feel bloated or fatter or anything.....hope that isn't a bad sign.

EHM...yes, this is my first IVF but I had four IUIs last year and had to inject for them too. It's not too bad generally but I have to say that today I am feeling really fed up with all the jabbing going on!!
Roll on the weekend (if everything is ok) then I can stop for a while!

Soosy...feel for you. I have been mucked around no end over the past 2 1/2 years and it seriously does not help when it's so unnecessary....(especially when there's no alcohol to drown the stress either!!!!). I hope you have managed to feel calmer and organise your acc. session for the morning.
X

coggy · 30/01/2008 18:35

Haven't seen MNPKF for quite some time.....hope you're okay.

SaveScrabulous · 30/01/2008 18:41

Coggy - sorry for the confusion - I name changed and was MNPK!

Sticki · 30/01/2008 20:15

Hi everyone
Like Coggy Ive been away so Im on catch up. Great to have some new joiners. Welcome!

Soosy - great news about your 10/17. I know how you feel that the numbers arent important...but this way it means that they can choose the best quality ones to put back. Hope your transfer tomorrow goes smoothly (do you have acupuncture sometime too?).

SaveS - your family visit sounds a nightmare. Hope you are ok about it and your treatment and the family are proving more supportive now they know. Glad the inj issue is better.

Only - How was your scan/bloods today? Hope you have a positive plan and are feeling ok about it.

Worry - Hope you are doing ok? I will just echo everyone else who say that you only need 1...... (On your other question - I think the Drs treat IVF, especially the 1st cycle as very diagnostic, so will use the info from how you responded etc to plan future cycles. Therefore you might be on a completely different drug/timing protocol on future cycles. In fact I would question if they didnt change anything.)

Coggy - Do you mean the cyclocest pessaries? Yes, they are pretty evil but I gather they are meant to be really helpful. TMI Alert - Was told to try to lie down for 10 mins after inserting them - that gives you a chance the absorb the progesterone. The discharge is just the stuff its disolves in. Actually less messy as suppositories!

Fingers and toes all crossed for everyone!

We have just come back from our first ever child free long weekend away! It was fantastic and left me feeling that Id had a really good break (and cleared my head ready for next few weeks). I start my injections tomorrow and scheduled for GIFT on 13 Feb. Bloods and scans start on sunday.

worrymerchant · 30/01/2008 20:38

Dear Soosy, what a dreadful experience; i have also been a bit surprised at some of my own treatment... I think sometimes, clinicians forget that they are dealing with people who are under a great deal of emotional stress. I would try my best to let it wash over you for now and remain focussed on being centred and positive about what is going on. There will be plenty of time to give feedback to the clinic later. Perhaps if you write it all down to get it off your chest (which will also be a record for you)...in my case when i went for my first scan after starting stimulation, the doctor shook her head and said "well it's not good is it? we may as well carry on for another couple of days and then see if its worth continuing" !!! I was SOOOOO upset. From later dealings wiht her it turns out she is really sweet, just no bedside manner that particular morning. But I still intend ot point it out to them as I think a good clinic will be interested to know how it can do better. Esp with the HFEA looking over their shoulder.

worrymerchant · 30/01/2008 20:50

And.. Hello stickie, thanks for the welcome..
this is a very long thread and hard to keep up with you all... am in bed with asthma tonight but just wanted to say good luck ot everybody that is undergoing various treatments this week. All this talk of big follicles and lots of eggs is so encouraging!

I have to go in to ACU tom for a blood test... no idea why... is this normal to do this half way thru the 2ww?

Alao, I have been given progesterone tablets (oral) in addition to the pessaries, aND have to do nightly heparin injections...is that the norm too for anyone?

soosy · 30/01/2008 20:51

Thanks worrymerchant,I feel much better, much to do with the vast quantities of rescue remedy and chocolate eggs ingested, eggs stolen from DS's stash. I think I will talk to someone though, as i don't want this to happen to someone else who doesn't live so close and would maybe miss their treatment.

sticki, glad to here everything on track and you had a peaceful wkend away!

Coggy thanks too hope you are feeling ok tonight, i don't feel much until just before the first scan and then even with my huge load the feeling comes and goes. It's not really painful, more a full feeling, everything a little bit squashed. But I have a friend who had 8 eggs who felt nothing at all so don't worry. Acupuncturist hasn't called me back yet, so have no idea if we can fit both before and after, if possible in , which is meant to be the ideal!

Night night going to watch Kirstie and Phil. xx

soosy · 30/01/2008 20:55

Messages crossed worrymerchant, heparin is usually given for hughes syndrome, or sticky blood. Its not serious but it does cause miscarriages. Have you had a test for it or do you think they are covering all bases?

Do you think the blood test could be a pg test? or are they just checking your hormone levels.

Never had oral tablets and pessaries, I agree though pessaries much better up the bottom, far too messy otherwise.

worrymerchant · 30/01/2008 21:19

Hi, no have had no tests for that nor has anything been suggested to me, but I will ask about it when I go tomorrow. No idea for reason for blood test, perhaps is routine. Maybe is to monitor what hep is doing. Will find out tom and let you know!

Onlyaphase · 31/01/2008 11:39

Hi all, goodness this board has been busy! hope everyone is well -

SS - hope you are putting your feet up and thinking happy thoughts - though with a toddler to cope with I think this may be wishful thinking! So nice for you to have 2 left in the freezer as well.

Soosy - hope your transfer goes OK today. What a mess about timings - I think clinics forget we are trying to fit the rest of our lives around these appointments. A lot of it is just good customer service which seems to go by the board sometimes when they are busy, which shouldn't be the case given they are dealing with hormonal women.

Coggy - how do you feel? I do feel more tender aorund my abdomen and maybe a bit bloated as well, but I did feel the same last time too. Also one of my ovaries is stuck to everything else around it, so I would expect to feel a bit sore as it hasn't really got any freedom to move anywhere with a bit more room, if you see what I mean. When is your EC scheduled for?

WM - hope the blood test etc goes OK today. Would be interesting to know why you have oral tabs as well as pessaries, though I guess every clinic does things differently

Sticki - good to have you back. 13 Feb is really close now, not long to go.

No scans for me today, have one at noon tomorrow when they will confirm EC on Monday (or not). Childcare arrangments have fallen through though, but I refuse to get stressed about that until the EC date is confirmed. Then I will panic!

Sticki · 31/01/2008 13:42

GOOD LUCK SOOSY! Hope all goes smoothly after your nightmare yesterday (they really are crap).

SS - great news about your frosties. You really are pregnant now...just a matter of time until it is confirmed! Keeping thinking positive.

WM - I usually take Heparin injections too to prevent further implantation problems. (And they really hurt after a while!) I have to have a blood test about 4 or 5 days after starting it to check that the blood platelet levels havent fallen too far (checking that blood would clot properly if I cut myself etc).

Only - hope they have told you where you are with the EC? Great news about the follicles - hope they are still growing well, and you manage to get your childcare sorted (adds an extra level of stress eh!)

Coggy - How are you doing? Know any more about your schedule?

Have a good day everyone.

SaveScrabulous · 31/01/2008 15:06

Hi
Good luck Soosy.

Nope Only I'm not managing to relax at all - have been lifting ds - can't see how I can't iyswim. I'm trying not to get stressed about not being able to relax as it will just make it even worse! If I do get pregnant from this I am so going to be a message of reassurance to those worried about the effects of not resting on treatment!

soosy · 31/01/2008 19:22

Hello everyone.

SS sympathise massively, it's quite a hard time with ds I found 2.5 really full on with lots of lifting, don't worry a friend went through treatment when her DS was about that age and she got pg with one embryo and lots of lifting!

Only I hope all goes well at your scan tomorrow, it sounds as though things are growing. sorry about the childcare thing, if the worst comes to the worst take him with you, (hope haven't put foot in mouth and you do have a boy, not a girl ).

Sticki thanks for the message, everyone was really kind today i wonder why.... I hope it's because i am a lovely person!

When is your next scan coggy, hope all is going well.

Worry hope all went well and you got answers for all your questions, btw tell us too, because I am certainly quite curious!

ET went well and I had 2 grade one 8 cell embryos put back, and the really great news is I have 3 or 4 to freeze!!
Made it back in time for my acupuncture so after a dreadful start toady went quite well. The acupuncture has really made a different this time to the quality and quantity of eggs and my lining is much thicker, so fingers crossed!

AuntieMeemz · 31/01/2008 19:35

I know this may not be the right place, but I so want you to know this..
we did DE in Ukraine, and now, to my utter disblelief, we are parents. ( 1 3years old and 9 months) I still can't believe it,and I really want to let people know that even when you truly don't think it will ever happen, it can.
It took us 12 years, and every penny(beofre we found out about Kiev) and every ounce of strength we have, but we did it.

coggy · 31/01/2008 20:34

Soosy...that's really good news. Everything crossed for your 'super two'!!
We were told we were only allowed to freeze if there was four or more grade 1 or 2s. I suppose, again, it's difference in clinics.

SS........how did I miss your name change??!!!
I am so sorry.....blame it on the hormones!!!!

onlyaphase.....look's like we are now in sync. My scan is tomorrow also and, if all goes according to plan, my EC is scheduled for Monday too.

Is it normal to get really nervous?
I am surprising myself!!
I'm normally pretty chilled out and I haven't really even thought about the procedures much until now....but I just don't want to be told that nothing's worked and that's it.
Well.....18 hours to go and I'll know!!
