Preparing to TTC in 2022

DH has agreed to starting to TTC baby #3 in April/May. We already have a 2 daughters (age 4 and 2). I'm so excited to start trying! I think it's going to be a long wait until we can start actively trying!

Starting to think about things to do to help prepare my body. I'm currently on the progesterone only pill so thinking of when to stop it. I have 5 days left in this packet and then one packet left after that in my current prescription. Don't know whether to stop when I finishes this packet or at the end of Jan after my next packet. Any experiences of how long it takes cycle to regulate after the pill?

I need to try and eat healthier as I've been so bad recently with Christmas but I'm a healthy weight so not too worried there. Also ordered some TTC vitamins which I remember from previous pregnancies is good to take 3 months before TTC.

Anything else I could do? Is there anyone else who will be starting to try later in the year and so excited that you're already on here 🙈?

@Summerbreeze111 it's totally normal to feel that way, I felt it particularly badly last new year which was way before we wanted to TTC but I felt so sad that it wasn't my turn yet, then you feel guilty because of course it's lovely news for them. This year I took a social media break over Christmas and New year as the announcements are always rife then!

@DanisEndo I joined the gym again today too. I've already lost about 7.5kg, I want to lose another 15-ish before we start actively trying

@Summerbreeze111 you are not alone in feeling that! I've been feeling like that for the last 6 months even though I know exactly why we're waiting and that it's the right decision for us as a family with age gaps and best timing for our daughters but still that green eyed monster rears when I see a pregnancy announcement!

@Dreamingof3 I'll definitely still panic slightly at a BFP if/when I get it! It's that moment of OMG life is going to change and it's not completely in our control what happens next...

Ahh thank god I am not the only person who feels that way, it sounds so common, phew! Since my last post another 2 have announced their pregnancies, it's everywhere isn't it. It must be so so difficult for those struggling to conceive, my heart really does hurt for them. I really hope we all have a lot of success when the time comes, I am so nervous!

I had a dream we found out we were having twins....wouldn't that be a twisted joke 😂 have had some cheapy pregnancy tests delivered today for when I know I'll want to take 15 in a day lol, just waiting for my ovulation tests to arrive!

@Dreamingof3 I am having lots of pregnancy related dreams too! One of my friends who knows we want a third keeps joking it'll be twins and I'll end up with 4! When are you going to start using the ovulation tests? I'm still waiting for my withdrawal bleed after coming off the pill...

I can't believe how many of you are getting pressure from family, so weird! I'm one of those people that would probably say something completely inappropriate like oh we're having so much sex every day, morning and night, loads of positions but nothing is happening for us, any tips? Because they're essentially asking you about your sex life.

@Gizzy93 I think NTNP is what I have previously done, as in just had regular sex without contraception? I don't see why it wouldn't work, have you been "NTNP" long? To be honest this is what I count as TTC so expect to be pregnant soon

There's been a few friends and family members pregnant recently which I am fine with, because we are not ready, however it has made me judgemental over the few who are pregnant in what you might describe as less than ideal situations which is not really me, so that must be the green eyed monster right there.

@wingingit09 I've got mine currently so will probably start testing next week sometime. I just want to get a couple of months of logging it so that when we want to conceive I've got the best chance of being right 🤣

Well fingers crossed it'll be just the one for both of us 🤞🤣

@hippeeprincess when we 'tried' for our second I'd take pregnancy tests all the time even though I knew they'd be negative, it's just addictive...so quite excited to get a whole new aspect of testing 😅

@Dreamingof3 @HippeePrincess I'm also definitely a POAS addict when TTC (or when not and my period is just not bang on time).I have cheap tests sat in my draw and will definitely end up taking one at the slightest pregnancy symptom

I think I'm going to start trying to do BBT after I finally get my withdrawal bleed and then will start ovulation tests once I have my first proper period if BBT isn't successful in helping me track (it wasn't last time as I was often up in the night). Like you dreaming I would like an idea of my cycle before I start!

@HippeePrincess this is actually our first month, although we've been pretty careless with condoms for the past year. We ran out were like "eh, let's see what happens". I hope I'm pregnant soon. I know he's terrified of it, but he would be so happy if I was

I was sorting some bits out earlier. Does anyone remember the BBC drama ‘In the Club’? I have it on dvd so may start watching the first series again!

@OCM19 yeah I think I watched that when it came out... I wonder if it's available to stream somewhere? Might have a look.

I'm so glad this thread is still going! I wasn't sure I was going to get responses when I first posted so I'm glad to find I'm not the only one obsessing before we've even properly started TTC! Hopefully we can keep it going till we all start trying and start to see those BFPs!

Anyone else looking at baby items e.g. prams and baby carriers already? I figure I may as well get some ideas before I end up pregnant.

@Jennifer89 I may as well have mapped out the whole nursery and this is only CD8 of my first cycle actively trying 😂

@Jennifer89 not looking at things that are baby specific (as this will be baby #3 and we have all the stuff we need). Have been researching cars that fit 3 car seats across the back though 😂

@WingingIt09 I have been looking at cars too! Its hard to find one that fits 3 carseats along the back without sacrificing boot Space! I think we like the look of the s max or c4 Picasso so far. Will probably wait til after a baby 🤞 arrives to actually get one though 🤔

Even though this will be our second we thought DS was it for us so got rid of everything. If we are fortunate to conceive I will love buying everything again although I won't buy as much this time, knowing what we actually used last time! I can't wait to get the tiny newborn clothes again.

Looked at conception vitamins in Holland and Barrett yesterday and their own brand are cheaper than the Wellman/Pregnacare ones so going to go for those as the ingredients seem to be the same.

OMG @WingingIt09 please share the car list PMSL we are gonna need this! We need to keep the bootspace too as we usually holiday in the UK and have a dog who needs somewhere to sit as well @Dreamingof3

I watched some of in the club and it was pretty funny from memory, might also watch some of it. I have watched a few similarly themed Netflix series such as The Letdown and Working Moms they're pretty hilarious too @OCM19

@Jennifer89 I still have a few things that I couldn't part with, but I have made a list of things I would like and were useful for me such as a stretchy wrap style baby carrier (I still have a ring sling and a woven wrap from my youngest as the bottom dropped out of the second hand sling market when I went to sell).

There's also so many things that I wouldn't bother getting this time too @Vasectomyreversalhopeful. I am going to discuss with DP how bothered he is about some things, he will be likely staying at home after my maternity leave so I think he will want a big say in the pram so we might end up having that new but I am keen to get quite a few things second hand. With my others the second hand market was strong so still very expensive for used items, but now the market is flooded and you can get some amazing things so cheaply! One thing I did with both children was have a pram/travel system for the first say 6-9 months, but then got rid of it because even the pushchair part I found was bulky and so I swapped for an umbrella stroller which was much lighter and easier to fold and store.

@HippeePrincess we will be getting a new pram and carseat but hoping to get most other things second hand. I really want a snuzpod and seen some real bargains....tempted to buy now 🤣

@Dreamingof3 The snuzpod looks great I have looked at similar, I saw another bedside crib going really cheap and was tempted but can't do it before we have moved!

Soooo…we’ve just been out with our DS, and my DH randomly said let’s try for baby #2!! So it looks like I will finish my current pack of the pill and then wait for my period to return

@HippeePrincess @Dreamingof3 so 3 across research suggests that we want a car with 3 full size seats in the back (and even then not all will work )DH is desperate to avoid a 7 seater although realistically I think we might need one so we can pick a friend up from school for play dates or look after one of our nieces and be able to go in the car together!
So far a list of ones to potentially look at is:

• Citroen c4 Picasso/grand Picasso (if buying used) the equivalent is the space tourer if buying new. Also potentially Citroen c5 aircross?
• ford s-max/galaxy
• Peugeot 5008
• Renault scenic/grand scenic
• VW touran /sharan
• Seat Alahambra
• Kia Carens

Think some of them are no longer sold new but might be able to get used. Car Seat Advice UK is a good group on Facebook to search for posts about cars fitting 3 across I've found. We will probably replace our car this autumn once we know if/when baby #3 is due 🤞🏻
