Preparing to TTC in 2022

WingingIt09 · 28/12/2021 22:39

DH has agreed to starting to TTC baby #3 in April/May. We already have a 2 daughters (age 4 and 2). I'm so excited to start trying! I think it's going to be a long wait until we can start actively trying!

Starting to think about things to do to help prepare my body. I'm currently on the progesterone only pill so thinking of when to stop it. I have 5 days left in this packet and then one packet left after that in my current prescription. Don't know whether to stop when I finishes this packet or at the end of Jan after my next packet. Any experiences of how long it takes cycle to regulate after the pill?

I need to try and eat healthier as I've been so bad recently with Christmas but I'm a healthy weight so not too worried there. Also ordered some TTC vitamins which I remember from previous pregnancies is good to take 3 months before TTC.

Anything else I could do? Is there anyone else who will be starting to try later in the year and so excited that you're already on here 🙈?

@lj2022 You’re so right! I really think you’ve hit the nail on the head there 😊 I’m just trying to enjoy life as it is, getting fit and the peace and quiet until then!

Yes been off the pill for a few months now (again OHs idea) and my cycles are nice and regular, I’m taking folic acid too to help 🙂

The other thread was awful honestly, I had it deleted after an hour or two…. 30+ people telling me that the reason he wanted to wait was because I was “making sex a chore” by tracking my cycle!

Thanks for being supportive 🙂x

tryingtryinggone · 14/02/2022 20:02

@PrettyPolly92 my reasons for waiting a few months are to avoid a December/January birth (just personal preference and that would mean conceiving first month which are pretty unlikely but yanno). And to give a bit bigger age gap between my little one and this future baby. Having a toddler is HARD and I just can’t imagine having to manage a newborn too so just wanted a bit longer.
TTC is such a weird journey. It really did become a chore for us the first time tbh. I was putting so much pressure on myself doing OPKs excessively and then being utterly devastated every month when my period turned up. We weren’t even trying for that long either (which I am so thankful for) but it felt like forever. It was only when we decided to stop ‘trying’ and chilled out that I got pregnant again. So many people say it but it does seem like there’s some truth that the stress and pressure doesn’t help

lj2022 · 14/02/2022 20:18

@PrettyPolly92 OMG that's awful people can just be so horrendous. As much as I've been tracking we've agreed not to tell my other half and just still try do it when we feel like it. I am the only one who knows when the fertile week is so there's no pressure but with that being said sex can be a chore before TTC life stresses just get in the way. How else are we supposed to know if there's fertility issues further down the line if we don't track. I'm glad I'm tracking so if I'm 12 months there's nothing I can go to my Dr with my BBT chart and LH tests to get taken seriously.

Some people like tracking and some don't and that's okay just need to do what suits us x

FourOclock · 14/02/2022 20:23

That makes sense @PrettyPolly92! For our first my husband was more keen to wait actually, think he wanted to wait a few months till he'd started a new job but I pointed out the baby wouldn't be here before then anyway! I'm glad we just got on with it in the end because it took a while.

What vitamins are everyone taking? I've just started taking the Seven Seas pre conception ones and have felt nauseous all day. I had this with Pregnacare with my last pregnancies too, would really like to be able to take something that doesn't make me nauseous as there will be enough of that once I'm pregnant 😅

NarnieJoy · 14/02/2022 20:34

@PrettyPolly92 DH has a big exam, so I’ve said I’ll wait! I’m also still feeling young at 25, so I’m thinking I need a few adventures

lj2022 · 14/02/2022 20:37

@FourOclock I've not started any yet I know I probably should have but it's not something I really thought of I only started researching the last few weeks about what to do when TTC as we were on holiday, then moved house the day we got back and found out we had covid 😂 definitely going to get some this week to start taking

Dreamingof3 · 14/02/2022 20:39

@PrettyPolly92 I can't believe some people 😳 I didn't use opks last time so i can't really say how they'll make a difference but hoping they just give me a good idea of.my cycle.

We're waiting for purely selfish reasons, I don't want to pregnant for our holiday in May 😅

FourOclock · 14/02/2022 20:41

With my first I was just taking folic acid for a year TTC and then someone mentioned Pregnacare and I fell pregnant straight away on it. Then took it ready for number two and fell pregnant straight away on it. Sure it's just coincidence but it helps me feel like I'm doing everything I can!

NarnieJoy · 14/02/2022 20:48

20 days into my cycle, I’ve started to PMS, feeling tearful, not interested in sex and just ugh. I wish the follicular phase glow lasted longer 😩 - how do people cope with their symptoms over the month and I know I do still get emotional that there isn’t a baby in my tummy. I just want that moment of rubbing my belly and knowing my squish is in there. Sorry everyone, but rant over, I just know this group is supportive!!

Cheekypeach · 14/02/2022 21:22

What a coincidence, I also fell pregnant first month on pregnacare! DH was taking the male supplement. Worth a go ladies?!
LucyLoopyLu · 14/02/2022 21:24

@PrettyPolly92
We were originally going to TTC in summer / autumn 2020 (got married in March and our cancelled honeymoon was May) but unfortunately Covid meant I lost my job and very badly damaged my husbands business income (self employed but no govt support). Then we have been renovating our house and I will be 12 months in my job this May. I'm 33 and want 2 kids (trying for first starting in April) and I can't bear to wait any longer now.

Everyone tries to reassure me that we have time but I just feel like I desperately need to get going now! Ideal plan now is to have 1st at 34 and 2nd at 36 🤞🤞
Bloody covid!
Fingers crossed for us all x

LucyLoopyLu · 14/02/2022 21:29

@NarnieJoy
Sorry you're feeling so rubbish, I know how you feel, that monthly hormone dip is such a tough time. You're not alone

Shedgal · 14/02/2022 21:31

Sorry very late to the party. I have a little girl 20 months coming for this pill this month and hoping to start trying for baby number 2 March/April time. Hope it's ok to join the chat x

hevann · 14/02/2022 21:31

@PrettyPolly92 so sorry the other group weren't very kind. I've found this group to be so supportive & it's amazing to realise you're really not alone in what you're going through. I didn't think so many would have the same worries or experiences as I am. We will be trying for our 1st from next month. The reason we are waiting and not trying straight away is so I can have at least one normal cycle after coming off the pill I've only had a 3 day withdrawal so far. DH thinks it's hilarious I keep POAS! 😂

@FourOclock I'm just taking folic acid at the moment thinking of moving on to pregnacare or conceive plus soon.

@NarnieJoy oh narnie big hugs! You can rant as much as you like! xx

WingingIt09 · 14/02/2022 22:00

@PrettyPolly92 welcome and I'm sorry the other thread wasn't supportive! We're mostly waiting because we're going on holiday in May and I don't want to be pregnant for it

Thanks everyone for the love! I’ll have to do some exercise to give me that endorphin boost

PinkButtercups · 14/02/2022 22:10

Hello 👋🏼.

We've just started TTC Baby number 2. Literally two days ago Grin.

Just a quick question and sorry if it sounds stupid.
I started taking pregnacare folic acid when I was around 8 weeks with my DS and continued throughout my pregnancy.

But reading on here now, I feel stupid here but should I be taking it now? I know I should've taken it with my DS earlier (well didn't at the time until midwife told me). I thought I just took it when I found out I was pregnant. Now I feel stupid Blush.

Dreamingof3 · 14/02/2022 22:15

@PinkButtercups not stupid at all! With my first i only started taking anything after my 1st midwife appt as I didn't know either! It's only when reading up on ttc etc that I realised it's a good idea to take something from before you even conceive x

PinkButtercups · 14/02/2022 22:18

Thank you @Dreamingof3! I honestly didn't know until after my first midwife appt either. I was so naive then. I mean DS is only 2.5 but yoj learn so much being pregnant that you didn't know existed Blush.

I best get some. Thank you!

PinkButtercups · 14/02/2022 22:18

You*

Shedgal · 14/02/2022 22:21

@PinkButtercups hey am about to start trying for baby number 2. I am taking folic acid atm but last time I didn't start until I was a few weeks

Cheekypeach · 14/02/2022 22:45

I don’t think the NHS do a good enough job of promoting vitamins before conception rather than after, according to a lot of articles it’s surprisingly important to take them for at least a couple of months before.

Cheekypeach · 14/02/2022 22:47

Hi to the newbies 👋🏻

CD15 here of a 27 day cycle. So the ‘trying’ will be starting week commencing 7th March. Eeeek! Really hoping this turns into a Christmas/New Year babies thread ✨

MrsGrealish · 14/02/2022 23:21

Hi ladies, hope it's ok to join..I was wondering do any of you track LH levels after peak? CD 20 and after peak they went down initially but have started to creep up again. And it's scaring me like is it early menopause, or is something weird happening?
Sorry for bombarding this thread xx

Cheekypeach · 14/02/2022 23:44

Do you mean with OPKs @MrsGrealish ? Do you mind me asking how old you are?
