Preparing to TTC in 2022

WingingIt09 · 28/12/2021 22:39

DH has agreed to starting to TTC baby #3 in April/May. We already have a 2 daughters (age 4 and 2). I'm so excited to start trying! I think it's going to be a long wait until we can start actively trying!

Starting to think about things to do to help prepare my body. I'm currently on the progesterone only pill so thinking of when to stop it. I have 5 days left in this packet and then one packet left after that in my current prescription. Don't know whether to stop when I finishes this packet or at the end of Jan after my next packet. Any experiences of how long it takes cycle to regulate after the pill?

I need to try and eat healthier as I've been so bad recently with Christmas but I'm a healthy weight so not too worried there. Also ordered some TTC vitamins which I remember from previous pregnancies is good to take 3 months before TTC.

Anything else I could do? Is there anyone else who will be starting to try later in the year and so excited that you're already on here 🙈?

So excited to see everyone starting their TTC journeys this year - we're not starting until July so still in the prep stage! I wanted to ask if anyone has recommendations for how to get in shape and strengthen your body ready to be pregnant? Any particular exercise regimes anyone recommends?

WingingIt09 · 31/01/2022 23:14

@hevann I was on desogestrel which is a progesterone only one. I was only on it for 5 months (went on it in August when my coil had to come out as it wasn't working properly). I had a monthly withdrawal bleed when on it but now over 4 weeks on from stopping and and no bleed 🤷‍♀️

Does anyone else get a little down that they're waiting? I know its for the best and we don't have too much longer to go (hoping April/May, depending on when I lose this weight).
One of my cousins just got pregnant with her third unplanned baby. Sometimes I wish we'd have an accident so I didn't have to wait and then go through ttc 😅

babyjellyfish · 01/02/2022 14:03

Hi, can I join?

I'm hoping to start TTC when my baby turns one in April, but I haven't had my first postpartum period yet.

I really hope it turns up soon!!

Yes! I feel like the longer I wait the more likely I am to bottle it because it gives me time to over think Confused

I would love to throw caution to the wind and try this month, but I know my blood sugars probably aren’t quite good enough. Being diabetic doesn’t bother me most of the time but I’m quite resentful of it when it comes to pregnancy as it means I’ll always have to put serious effort into being healthy to conceive & be pregnant, plus I’ll always have tons more appointments and be induced before 38 weeks… wish I could just have 2 scans then sit around waiting to go into labour like normal pregnant women! Rant over Grin

Jennifer89 · 01/02/2022 18:23

@Gizzy93 I don't feel upset about waiting as trying to see the positives.. Few more months of freedom and more time to save money. However, I do get moments of feeling a bit impatient. Feel like time is going by more slowly waiting to ttc too if that makes sense? The other day someone said January went by quick and I was thinking wish wasn't still another 3-4 months before can ttc.
I am also trying not to watch to many pregnancy/baby related videos on you-tube as think that makes more impatient.
I think for me it helps thinking Feb is closer to March and then March is closer to April.

NarnieJoy · 01/02/2022 22:42

@Sunshine0987 I’m just keeping up with my running to help me with headspace stress before ttc! I think me and hubs are just looking to eat as healthy as possible and put in the hard work of having those habits

NarnieJoy · 01/02/2022 22:45

@Gizzy93 yep I’m in that camp, I still cry every time I get my period even though we aren’t trying as it reminds me we aren’t! But I have got something to look forward to every month that I know we wouldn’t be able to do so easily with kids! So that helps me, I’m also being a bridesmaid in July and the thought of being pregnant and a bridesmaid has really put me us starting earlier! I opened up to one of my friends and she is going to start trying when I am also, so that made me excited that if we fell quite close to one another we would be able to have mat leave together! So I’m just looking for those silver linings

Vasectomyreversalhopeful · 02/02/2022 06:47

I am at peace with waiting as although I really want another child I am not in a rush to go back to sleep deprivation Grin

Dreamingof3 · 02/02/2022 12:00

@Vasectomyreversalhopeful is still sleep deprived now 🤣

Glad we're another month closer though...is anyone due to test soon? Living vicariously for now 🤣

Worryant · 02/02/2022 12:17

@Dreamingof3 testing here, but I should stop as it just stresses me out! First cycle so not confident on ovulation - I think I’m about 11dpo and BFN on FRER. AF due this weekend so trying to hold off testing till next week if it doesn’t show. I don’t ‘feel’ pregnant which probably doesn’t mean very much!

Same 😬 baby snuggles are the pay off though! 🥰
DanceWithYourBalloon · 02/02/2022 13:06

Bit of a late comer to the thread. I have a 4 and 2 year old and will be ttc next month.
Will be 38 this year so this will be the last one. 😊
I'm just taking vitamins and am adding a daily dog walk to my usual workouts to counteract the Christmas feasting and drinking. 😂

BlueberryMacaron · 02/02/2022 14:26

Hi to all the new posters!

I’m vacillating between wanting to start now and wanting to put it off so can fit in more things before I’m pregnant and have a baby! The fact that the 50 best cocktail bars list has just been published doesn’t help with that 😂 But then Ive also been having dreams about babies and I just got to cuddle my friend’s newborn which just melted me 🥰 I also have this anxiety (for no medical reason) that I’ll find conceiving very difficult. I’ll just live vicariously through everyone who is actually trying for the moment and keep taking my vitamins.

Good luck Worryant

Cavylady · 02/02/2022 19:01

@worryant same here! I'm about 11 days PO too and due on at the weekend. I also don't 'feel' pregnant despite never having been pregnant before so I don't really know what I'm looking for 😂. I also have the usual cramps I get before AF makes an appearance so I think it'll be on to next month for me fairly soon! Anyone else in the TWW?

Worryant · 02/02/2022 20:39

Nice to have a waiting buddy @Cavylady! This is my second, but first time I didn’t know I was pregnant until my period was late as we weren’t trying. So now I’m wracking my brains back to then trying to think ‘did I feel like this?!’ Good luck! Will you wait till Monday to test? I also think this isn’t my month to be honest.

@worryant yes it's lovely to have a ttc buddy! Oh I think I'd be doing the same as you if I had a previous pregnancy to compare symptoms to! I keep thinking to myself 'what if' when I'm about 99% sure these are just my usual pms symptoms. Time will tell.
I'm trying not to test unless I'm 3 or 4 days late as I will become obsessed and stress myself out 😂. What about you?

Cavylady · 02/02/2022 21:34

@wingingit09 thanks for adding me to the list 😁. I'm 33. So lovely that there are so many of us in this together.

WingingIt09 · 02/02/2022 21:37

@Cavylady no problem :) I'll add your age to the list too. I'm so glad this board has taken off so well! Never expected such a lovely group develop. It's great we can support each other.

Cheekypeach · 02/02/2022 22:20

Yes it’s lovely to have some comrades to go into this with! Especially as said before, because you have to be fairly secretive about it in real life.

Mums of 1+, can I ask what the gap would be between a new baby and your existing children..? I’ve just worked out DD will be starting school at roughly the time the baby is born if we’re lucky enough to conceive in the next 6 months or so, which was quite sobering! Time is flying by.

Vasectomyreversalhopeful · 03/02/2022 06:56

There will be at least 7 years between DS and any new baby cheeky. There are pros and cons to all age gaps, I definitely couldn't have had a second until DS was in school as I would want the 1:1 time with the new baby. Downside is they won't play so much together.

OCM19 · 03/02/2022 09:48

@Cavylady @Worryant I’m around 5DPO so will hopefully rest next weekend if AF hasn’t arrived, it seems like time is dragging! Good luck to both of you.

@Cheekypeach there will be around 3.5/4 year age gap between ours if we’re lucky to fall pregnant soon so my DS would be starting school while I would be on may leave which is quite nice!

Worryant · 03/02/2022 11:33

@Cavylady - I’m testing now but only internet cheapies. I think I’ll end up testing Saturday or Sunday with an FRER if AF doesn’t arrive but the price of them! I want to hold off till Monday but I know myself too well 😂

@BlueberryMacaron @OCM19 thank you v much for good luck!

DanceWithYourBalloon · 03/02/2022 12:14

I can feel ovulation happening today and its matching up with the prediction on the Clue app I use.
Weird to think this is my last cycle and period before trying again.
