Preparing to TTC in 2022

DH has agreed to starting to TTC baby #3 in April/May. We already have a 2 daughters (age 4 and 2). I'm so excited to start trying! I think it's going to be a long wait until we can start actively trying!

Starting to think about things to do to help prepare my body. I'm currently on the progesterone only pill so thinking of when to stop it. I have 5 days left in this packet and then one packet left after that in my current prescription. Don't know whether to stop when I finishes this packet or at the end of Jan after my next packet. Any experiences of how long it takes cycle to regulate after the pill?

I need to try and eat healthier as I've been so bad recently with Christmas but I'm a healthy weight so not too worried there. Also ordered some TTC vitamins which I remember from previous pregnancies is good to take 3 months before TTC.

Anything else I could do? Is there anyone else who will be starting to try later in the year and so excited that you're already on here 🙈?

Hello all, this is my first post on the forum so I hope I've done it right! Me and husband are ttc our first and it's such a minefield, I feel like we're winging it slightly! Lovely to see there are a few others also ttc in 2022. Just looking for advice really, this month is the first we're actively trying. I'm using the clearblue digital ovulation test and last week had 4 days of flashing smileys Tues-Friday which then turned to static on Saturday. We dtd Tues, weds and Sat am and I got the static in the evening on Sat. I feel like we won't get our bfp this month as we never dtd after it went static but I could be wrong here?! I'm also not sure how much I should trust the tests as I still have ewcm 5 days after my first static so who knows what's going on inside me at the moment 😂. I see a lot of you are ttc #2 or 3, any advice for a newbie to all of this?

NarnieJoy · 26/01/2022 11:07

@OCM19 sorry about your dilemma. I would think if you were pg, you just have to do what’s best for your peace of mind. I am planning a hen do at the moment and there are lots of parts to the day, so I’m not expecting everyone to make every bit of the day. So you could just pass on that activity and join some other activities?

I really don’t have a plan for how to avoid alcohol and not give it away to my MIL because she knows that I like a rosé 🤦‍♀️😂 when I go to theirs! I’m not a big drinker at all so I won’t find it hard to stop completely at home (planning to 3 months before ttc)! What excuses have others used in the past or am I going to have to avoid them until I feel comfortable sharing I’m pg!!

HippeePrincess · 26/01/2022 11:15

Dry January, sober October, diet/health kick, detox, hangover…
On antibiotics or something is so obvious.
I’m usually designated driver so it’s really an issue, or I just accept a small glass and have a couple of small sips and get dp to drink some of it.
But to be honest with close family I’d just tell them we were tentatively expecting but very early days so don’t really want to discuss it but won’t be drinking.

HippeePrincess · 26/01/2022 11:18

Welcome @Cavylady sorry although I’ll be ttc no3 I’ve never used ovulation tests to time sex - sorry. Sounds like you’re covered though, but I’d just say try and dtd every 2-3 days throughout your cycle as I have heard that unless you’re doing bbt you cannot guarantee you’ve ovulated by just doing ovulation tests it.

Cavylady · 26/01/2022 12:24

Thanks @HippeePrincess for your reply. I'll bear that in mind for next month! Yes I'm a bit on the fence about the tests to be honest, I found it quite stressful this time around knowing I had a flashing or static smiley and not being able to dtd because of work or other commitments, or just not feeling it!

NarnieJoy · 26/01/2022 12:44

@HippeePrincess yes I might have to tell them early, it will be their first grandchild so I think it will be quite a dramatic telling. Was hoping I could give them a scan picture but they might just have to get a stick with my old wee on it Blush this is all so in the future though, who knows i may never be lucky enough. Pre trying anxiety is a real thing.

Dreamingof3 · 26/01/2022 15:00

I think we'll find out the gender for our next. We knew with dd1 and not with dd2 and I like to be prepared. If we have a third girl it'll take the pressure off because we don't like any boys names 😅
Names wise we've ruled out anything too long as we have a long surname...and nothing with t's in the middle as the other half's family don't pronounce them properly🙄😂
@Cavylady I definitely think the tests add am element off stress...if you know your body signs I would go with that and just try and did every couple of days throughout

I'm not a big drinker but definitely more socially so I'm planning on just accepting drinks and tipping them away when no ones looking 🤣🤣

OCM19 · 26/01/2022 20:24

Welcome @Cavylady I'm also using the clear blue ovulation tests...I'm not sure who accurate they are but I would try not to stress about it.

Thank you for all the suggestions regarding the segway, I think you're right, I don't think it would be an issue that early on (if we were lucky to be pg).

HippeePrincess · 26/01/2022 21:16

@NarnieJoy I understand the anxiety I think we all or most of us have a touch of it here, however, there’s every chance that you will not have any fertility problems.

The statistics are in all of our favours!

Cavylady · 26/01/2022 21:34

@narniejoy I really get this... It's so easy to become anxious about fertility isn't it when you're ttc #1..... But it's so great to read others stories on here and that is a little reassuring!

Thanks to everyone for your lovely welcome messages and responses to my first post, I appreciate having this space to talk to others about this stuff already 😁

WingingIt09 · 28/01/2022 21:03

How is everyone? My BBT seemed to start to rise a few days ago but then I've had 2 bad nights with DD1 being poorly so not been able to track temp the past few days. Hopefully can temp in the morning and get an idea of whether I've ovulated or not. I've still not had a bleed 4 weeks on from stopping the pill so I'm really wondering what is going on at this point!

OP posts:
Nyxxie · 28/01/2022 21:26

@WingingIt09 I know how you feel with wanting to know what's going on! Hopefully the rising BBT is a good sign for you though.

I've been having mild cramps for about a week but still no AF. It's nearly 4 weeks since my withdrawal bleed so hopefully something soon!

WingingIt09 · 28/01/2022 21:28

@Nyxxie yes hopefully. I just want my period at this point so I can start a new cycle 😂 fed up of the Flo app telling me to take a pregnancy test!

OP posts:
hevann · 28/01/2022 21:37

Evening ladies! It's only been 2 weeks for me but still no bleed either. I just want it to happen now too. It's so frustrating not knowing what's going on. It might sound a bit strange but I don't like not being in control & not knowing is driving me mad. I just want a period so I can track it. x

NarnieJoy · 28/01/2022 22:21

It will come, I remember the feeling last year just thinking 🤔 and always checking when I went to the loo for that tell tell brown spotting for me! But I do get that you want to crack on with the first visit from AF !

NarnieJoy · 28/01/2022 22:25

How are our Jan/Feb ladies feeling @OCM19 @worryant @bear486 @Nyxxie @QueenBee22… I know some are still waiting on their cycles but we will have some TWW to support through soon, anyone know when they are due to ov, can start crossing fingers!! 🤞🤞(and having a shaggathon!!)

WingingIt09 · 28/01/2022 23:05

@hevann exactly this! Slight control freak over here too 🙊

Yes, would love to hear from the Jan/Feb ladies who are now/imminently TTC @Worryant @OCM19 @@Bear486 @Nyxxie @QueenBee22 how are you all doing?

OP posts:
Worryant · 28/01/2022 23:05

Aw thanks for checking in @NarnieJoy! I’m in the TWW as we speak! Would have ovulated last weekend, and AF due next weekend so just waiting it out really! Hoping it goes quickly this week 🤞🏻

WingingIt09 · 28/01/2022 23:06

@Worryant that's exciting! Hope it passes quickly for you and looking forward to the symptom spotting later 😂🙈 hope you get your BFP in two weeks!

OP posts:
WingingIt09 · 28/01/2022 23:07

@Worryant totally misread... hopefully a BFP next weekend not in 2 weeks 😂🙈

OP posts:
Worryant · 28/01/2022 23:18

@WingingIt09 😂😂 I’ll take the BFP any day! Not really getting hopes up as it’s first cycle and it feels so new as DC 1 was a happy honeymoon surprise so have never ttc before. Easier said than done though and think I’ll be symptom spotting all next week! 🤦🏻‍♀️

Nyxxie · 29/01/2022 09:23
@Nyxxie yes hopefully. I just want my period at this point so I can start a new cycle 😂 fed up of the Flo app telling me to take a pregnancy test!
Exactly this!

Hopefully AF shows up soon and we can start trying in earnest in February!

OCM19 · 29/01/2022 11:09

@NarnieJoy and @WingingIt09 this is such a lovely group supporting everyone at the different stages 🥰

I think I may be entering the TWW. I’ve had flashing smilies everyday and today it’s static. We only DTD once in my fertile window on Tuesday so slim chance but you never know!

Hows everyone else feeling? A month seems like such a long time waiting for AF!

WingingIt09 · 29/01/2022 12:03

@OCM19 my second and third pregnancy were both conceived on only 1 DTD in my fertile window so you're still in with a chance. 🤞🏻 for you. Looking forward to the symptom spotting and hopefully a BFP!

@Nyxxie hope it shows up soon for you so you can TTC. I'd just like mine to show up so I know my cycles are getting back to normal. We're not trying until May x

Cheekypeach · 29/01/2022 12:05

Hi all! Good luck worryant - you’ve got just as much chance on first cycle as any other!

I’ve got an appointment on the 31st for a blood test, all being well we can start ttc as planned in March 🤞🏻if we catch then, it’ll be a Christmas baby, which I really like the idea of 🥰
