Preparing to TTC in 2022

WingingIt09 · 28/12/2021 22:39

DH has agreed to starting to TTC baby #3 in April/May. We already have a 2 daughters (age 4 and 2). I'm so excited to start trying! I think it's going to be a long wait until we can start actively trying!

Starting to think about things to do to help prepare my body. I'm currently on the progesterone only pill so thinking of when to stop it. I have 5 days left in this packet and then one packet left after that in my current prescription. Don't know whether to stop when I finishes this packet or at the end of Jan after my next packet. Any experiences of how long it takes cycle to regulate after the pill?

I need to try and eat healthier as I've been so bad recently with Christmas but I'm a healthy weight so not too worried there. Also ordered some TTC vitamins which I remember from previous pregnancies is good to take 3 months before TTC.

Anything else I could do? Is there anyone else who will be starting to try later in the year and so excited that you're already on here 🙈?

My period arrived yesterday so I put it into Ovia which predicts that I will just be ending my period when the reversal happens. As it takes 3 weeks to recover that isn't too bad. Will just be ending a cycle as we are ready to TTC.

WingingIt09 · 22/01/2022 16:26

@Vasectomyreversalhopeful that's good timing :)

Just downloaded the mother of all jobs - thank you to whoever recommended as career and baby have been playing on my mind recently.

For baby prep videos I have been really liking the Drs Bjorkman (m.youtube.com/c/TheDoctorsBjorkman) they are American so the system is different, but very informative and quite sweet together. Makes me think of my DH who is a medical professional and when he delivers babies!! X

Dreamingof3 · 22/01/2022 18:47

@WingingIt09 have you been doing opks? I went from completely white to a faint line, to a not so faint line, back to barely there again...maybe my body isn't working 😅 tempted to just stop and wait for a period but was kind of counting on using it to decide when not to let my partner near me 🤣

WingingIt09 · 22/01/2022 19:43

Yes, mine went from faint line to not so faint to faint and then stark white again... I'm assuming it was my body starting to try to ovulate but not getting enough hormone surge to actually ovulate as due to just having come off the pill? I'm hoping I'll get a period soon... never had a withdrawal bleed and I'm now 3 weeks on from coming off the pill 🙈

Dreamingof3 · 22/01/2022 20:00

@WingingIt09 it's driving me mad...but at least I had my withdrawal bleed 🙈
Think I just need to put it out of my mind for now....as hard as it is, as I'm obsessed 😂

WingingIt09 · 22/01/2022 20:44

@Dreamingof3 yes me too. I'm going to stop doing the ovulation tests I think (if I can 😅).

Hi, hope it's OK to join this thread?

I had my implant removed on the 17th January and we're planning on TTC. It'll be our first child so very new to all of this! Other then my OH I haven't mentioned to anyone of our plans so hopefully I can talk to some of you guys on here :)

Welcome 👋👋👋👋👋

I am in the same boat, told absolutely no one and also a first timer 🙃

Bear486 · 22/01/2022 21:14

Nice to "meet" someone else in the same position :)

Has anyone else removed the implant, how long did it take for your periods to return? Since having the implant my periods stopped completely! I'm not too sure how long it'll be until they likely return 😕

Cheekypeach · 22/01/2022 21:16

Welcome Bear! I had the implant removed to ttc my DD - periods returned within 6 weeks if I remember correctly. Hopefully the same for you!

WingingIt09 · 22/01/2022 21:29

Welcome @Bear486. We have a list to try and help us keep track of when everyone is starting to TTC, since some of us are starting now and others waiting till later in the year. You are welcome to be added to it if you like? Just helps us know what stage everyone is at as the group is getting big :)

Yes please :-)

We're pretty much starting now, have removed my implant and are just pretty much of the opinion of when it now happens it happens.

Amber17 · 22/01/2022 22:11

@Bear486 Welcome! I've got an implant that comes out next month so very interested in how you find coming off it! I've had periods on it but with a 'cycle' length of anywhere between 24 and 166 days. When I had it changed last year I remember being told that you could get pregnant in the week after (even with a new implant) as the hormone levels drop so quickly, so hopefully that means no issues ttc!

Nyxxie · 22/01/2022 22:16

Hi everyone hope you're all doing well and welcome @Bear486 !

I've been having mild cramps today and feeling a bit all over the place so guessing AF on the way (sooner than I expected as withdrawal bleed was only a couple of weeks ago).

Think it might be time to order some OPKs and join the POAS club!

NotARegularMum · 22/01/2022 22:51

I hope it's not too late to join too?

I've really enjoyed reading all your posts.

We are going to start trying probably in September.

I think I need to get stricter at tracking my cycles as I think they are quite long (over 30 days), which has given me an irrational fear that i'm infertileBlush (I am a bit of a worrier though)

Anyway, I'll be 32 when we start trying for number 1Smile.

WingingIt09 · 22/01/2022 23:00

@NotARegularMum definitely not too late.

@Nyxxie it can be an obsessive club to join 😂🙈 but welcome to the insanity if you do decide to go down the OPK route!

@WingingIt09 I'm already obsessing so it's all good 😂 I just wanna know what's going on in there at this point, I've had ewcm then cramps and mood swings then more ewcm it makes no sense!!

WingingIt09 · 23/01/2022 09:50

@Nyxxie I'm with you there!! I'm already down the obsession rabbit hole 🙈 my cycles were always pretty clockwork when not on hormonal contraceptives so I just need my body to go back to normal!

OP posts:
Dreamingof3 · 23/01/2022 11:14

I said yesterday I wasn't going to do any more testing...

...done one already today 🤣

OCM19 · 23/01/2022 12:05

It’s so hard not to isn’t it @WingingIt09 and @Dreamingof3. I’ve done a clear blue digital ovulation test this morning but didn’t show I was high/peak, guess I need to learn my cycles over the next few months!

WingingIt09 · 23/01/2022 12:12

It's so hard.... I have resisted temptation so far today but no guarantees. I know it's going to be negative though so just telling myself not to bother!

OP posts:
Dreamingof3 · 23/01/2022 15:26

@OCM19 I'm glad I bought about 100 tests 😂

I donthink the best plan for me atm is to just wait and see when af turns up and then go.from there but the poas addiction is real 😶

Nyxxie · 23/01/2022 17:47

I've just ordered a pack of 50 😬

hevann · 23/01/2022 18:03

I've just ordered ovulation tests too 🤦🏻‍♀️ I think I'll get a little obsessed 🙈
