Preparing to TTC in 2022

WingingIt09 · 28/12/2021 22:39

DH has agreed to starting to TTC baby #3 in April/May. We already have a 2 daughters (age 4 and 2). I'm so excited to start trying! I think it's going to be a long wait until we can start actively trying!

Starting to think about things to do to help prepare my body. I'm currently on the progesterone only pill so thinking of when to stop it. I have 5 days left in this packet and then one packet left after that in my current prescription. Don't know whether to stop when I finishes this packet or at the end of Jan after my next packet. Any experiences of how long it takes cycle to regulate after the pill?

I need to try and eat healthier as I've been so bad recently with Christmas but I'm a healthy weight so not too worried there. Also ordered some TTC vitamins which I remember from previous pregnancies is good to take 3 months before TTC.

Anything else I could do? Is there anyone else who will be starting to try later in the year and so excited that you're already on here 🙈?

@Dreamingof3 Don't worry you're not the oldest I am 🤦🏻‍♀️ I'll be 36 in March. x

NarnieJoy · 20/01/2022 14:20

I just got my period, finally on a 28/29 day cycle and because we do natural cycles I have confirmed temp rise at day 13 for ov... so that's reassuring but I can't help but feel sad I am not pg. Is that strange? It almost feels like I am counting down the periods Confused

Notjustafurmum · 20/01/2022 14:23

I’m 28 ☺️

It’s nice to have a place to chat, I briefly mentioned a while ago to my close friends which ended up with being bombarded with questions and pressure, so now we’re keeping quiet about TTC x

Vasectomyreversalhopeful · 20/01/2022 14:39

12 weeks today until our vasectomy reversal!

Dreamingof3 · 20/01/2022 15:16

Ahh at least I've got others around my age 😂

Dreamingof3 · 20/01/2022 15:18

@NarnieJoy I know what you mean, we've got 3 ish months before we try so I'm just impatient to get started!

@Vasectomyreversalhopeful thats exciting!!

OCM19 · 20/01/2022 16:58

I’m sure I saw somebody said they are using natural cycles? I’m looking to get a BBT thermometer, can anyone recommend one?

WingingIt09 · 20/01/2022 16:59

@NarnieJoy I know what you mean! I feel like I'm wishing the time away to get to May 😂🙈

@Vasectomyreversalhopeful that's so exciting!!!

WingingIt09 · 20/01/2022 17:01

@OCM19 not the pink baby mad one off Amazon 😂🙈 it works fine but it beeps loudly about 6/7 times when it finishes and it's so annoying in the morning, particularly if I'm taking my temp and then hoping to roll over to go back to sleep!

@Dreamingof3 Don’t worry, I’m 38!

BlueberryMacaron · 20/01/2022 20:10

It will be June for us, I'm 30 and it will be our first baby. One of my best friends had a baby yesterday and she is just so sweet. I can't believe in a couple of years that could be me.

@OCM19 If you find one you like can you share it. Still on birth control for the moment, but recommendations for the next few months would be useful.

@Vasectomyreversalhopeful exciting news, hope everything goes well

NarnieJoy · 20/01/2022 20:53

@OCM19 I've used natural cycles since about June 2020, and I would recommend, they have a useful feature that saves your temp - one beep and you can turn it off to save until you put the light on.

OCM19 · 20/01/2022 21:06

Thank you @WingingIt09 and @NarnieJoy for the tips. Do you pay a monthly subscription for the natural cycles one?

NarnieJoy · 20/01/2022 21:24

@OCM19 I do as we are still trying to avoid pg and their algorithm tells us when we can without protection - but I’ll cancel and go over to FF when we are ttc as it’s free and has more options for tracking 🤗

Gizzy93 · 21/01/2022 05:18

Guess I should add mine lol
29, hoping for March/April.

I woke up this morning, 2 days late, and with the most horrendous cramps I've ever had. AF isn't even heavy, it's pretty light. But my god, I don't want to move room the foetal position.
Do you think taking prenatals would have anything to do with that?

DanisEndo · 21/01/2022 13:30

@WingingIt09

What a great idea with the list!!!

Looks like I'll be the only one so far...

WingingIt09 · 21/01/2022 13:37

@Gizzy93 oh no sorry to hear that! I've not experienced prenatals making period cramps worse, although my cramps are always bad when I'm not on some form of hormonal contraceptive.

I know people often come off of the pill a few months prior to trying to allow their hormones to regulate, is it the same with the hormonal coil? I've seen such conflicting information online!

Vasectomyreversalhopeful · 21/01/2022 14:10

My understanding is that the coil uses a smaller amount of hormones Danis so presumably it would wear off quicker but I don't actually know. Would you be happy using condoms for a couple of months? I wouldn't overly worry though :)

DanisEndo · 21/01/2022 14:20

@Vasectomyreversalhopeful Yes would be happy to use condoms if needed but time is of the essence the second I'm off of hormonal contraceptive as the pain from my endometriosis will increase the longer I go without (which terrifies me as I know how long TTC can take Blush )

QueenBee22 · 21/01/2022 14:44

Hoping I can join in here.

I am 31 ttc number 2.

Was hoping for January but my period arrived the other day so didn't work out.

Hoping for February 2022 now.

Vasectomyreversalhopeful · 21/01/2022 15:12

I would probably talk to your GP then Danis although it sounds like staying on until you actively want to TTC would be best in your situation.

DanisEndo · 21/01/2022 15:15

@Vasectomyreversalhopeful I think you're right. Fingers crossed you're right about it leaving the system quickly as well

OCM19 · 21/01/2022 15:44

Welcome @QueenBee22 Smile

Thanks for the recommendations for BBT, I will have a look this weekend.

Summerbreeze111 · 21/01/2022 17:53

Quick question for everyone ☺

Are any of you preparing and buying any books or reading materials etc? Particularly for those who are first timers like myself!

I am not sure if I am being a little bit too eager 🤔 I probably am, aren't I 🤣

When I was younger, I used to walk past waterstones in my local shopping centre and have visions of being really excited and pregnant buying lots of pregnancy/baby books! 📚

I know a lot can be found online now though but I do love a good read!

If anyone has any recommendations, please let me know!
