Noticed quite a few ladies on here may be O on Xmas or few days after. I'm set to O Dec 29. I'm using the clear blue smiley OPK with AF expected Jan 12. I have a few cheapie tests left over from last month but hoping to keep distracted enough to not test...though I'm sure I will inevitably start symptom spotting (sorry in advance) I'm trying to keep detailed record.

Maybe TMI but advice needed, I had my static smiley yesterday morning about 8am I DTD Saturday night and yesterday but I'm not able to DTD tonight, anyone think I'm still in with a chance this month or no?

I'm in the same boat! I'm not hopeful tbh but the fertile window is open about 4/5 days before we ovulate so technically we are still in with a chance x

O is expected about 5th Jan, so at least can enjoy a nice tipple over Christmas

@BiscuitLover3678 well this month I'm going for the theory that loads of people get pregnant after a drunk night out .... so that's my method this year 😂😂 I conceived my DD when we were away on holiday a few years ago and I certainly didn't hold back on the cocktails at that point.
Im upset this month with a chemical, so I'm not going to hold myself back over the Xmas period and just see what happens.

Heading into my fertile window now... finding time and energy when you and your DH work night shifts at opposite ends of the week this week is going to prove tricky! But DD has headed off to her Dad's for Christmas so think it will be a case of just taking whatever I can get when we are both awake 😆 wish me luck

Very true!

I only got one day of a smiley (yesterday). Does that mean ovulation is all over? Sort of received I am done for this month. Not sure we've done enough! Tww here we come.

I'm due to ovulate around NYE/NYD then AF due 13th Jan. I was a bit lazy with my OPK last month so going to do it properly this month. Also been a bit lazy with prenatal vits so I've started with them properly too!

@ttcbabya it's annoying isn't it, I know I'm hoping the lead up and day of static was enough but I won't hold my breath...

@BiscuitLover3678 honestly just crack on as normal. My friend had her wedding in her tww and was so hungover the next day she was sick for 12 straight hours, my mum was at a huge party drinking and smoking the night before she had a missed period. It really doesnt effect anything. The egg doesnt even implant until between 9 and 12 dpo! If you implant at 12dpo your body wont even know its pregnant until 13dpo anyway!

First day of fertile window for me today but o test was negative yesterday. Dtd this morning so at least we are both feeling better from covid!

I have decided to bite the bullet and go private. I'm officially TTC over a year now and not really getting anywhere with the NHS. I have booked a private gynaecology appointment at the beginning of Feb, so feel like I'm doing something. I've also got fertility acupuncture booked for early Jan. Goodbye bank balance!

Confession time: I peed on an OPK this morning despite being 5dpo, to satisfy my need to pee on things. I also had to do a lateral flow this morning and it was the bizarre inverse of a pregnancy test, where you’re holding it to the light hoping to see a faint line – I had my torch out and was taking and editing photos desperate for a stark white test for once

Just waiting for full flow to say I'm CD1 then I'll be in here with you all, I imagine it'll either be later today or maybe tomorrow. Ov is due this month just as OH goes away for a week with work so I don't know how this cycle is going to pan out but we'll see how things go with dates. Fingers crossed January is the month for us all 🤞

What's the best way to use OPKs? I got a box of basic ones (not clear blue smiley face). I didn't use them last time we were TTC, but am feeling less "causal" about it this time.

Do you test every morning until it looks like a peak? Or just start roughly when you think you're near ovulation?

I start testing with OPKs when I first see EWCM or I first stop hating DP during my period and start giving him creepy, leg-humpy looks.

Then I test once a day until it’s clearly about to go boom, and test a couple of times.

@Moonshine160 thanks! Yes, I've had 30 day cycles for as long as i can remember, except for last month, which was 2 days early, and I'm putting it down to some supplements I've started. Back to 30 days from this cycle though. All bloods and DH's SA have come back normal, so wanting to get some scans and x-rays done to see if something's off internally. I was referred to the clinic in early Aug, so it's been over 4 months and not going any where, hence the decision to go private. I am 36 and TTC #1, so don't want to be wasting any time, especially if we wanted a second also somewhere down the line.

Also does ovulation make you crampy? I've had lots of pelvic cramping today and feel generally quite tired and achey. Very aware I may be reading into things

@BiscuitLover3678 yes it can hun! I had lots of cramping this cycle when ovulating. Never had it before until now but I have friends who do. That's how they know they're ovulating in some cases!! x
