New thread for us to continue our fertility clinic appointment progress...

Some of us are waiting for initial appointments, some are having tests and some are starting treatment!

Thanks for adding me @Gracie2021

Juno231 · 09/12/2021 07:51

@Gracie2021 thank you for setting this up for us! I'm taking my seat on the bus :)

Gracie2021 · 09/12/2021 07:58

Actually wish I'd remembered to amend the wording slightly to say some are waiting on progress scans too. One thing I've realised through this from here and podcasts etc is that if you've struggled with fertility there is so much more anxiety involved in pregnancy and so much more support needed to so the "journey" (know some people love/hate that word) doesn't end with the positive.

Hi all, thank you for the add @Gracie2021
I sadly had a miscarriage my 7 and 8 week scan was fine then 12 week we had no heartbeat. Was heartbreaking.

We are trying to move forward now. Starting FET process next week, so 2 weeks of the down regs.

How are you all?

Juno231 · 09/12/2021 08:30

@PurpleUnicorn01 oh that's so shit, I'm so sorry! I can't even imagine :( when do you think the FET will take place?

Gracie2021 · 09/12/2021 08:33

I'm so sorry for your loss @PurpleUnicorn01 there's no words. Really hope your FET goes well. Is it scheduled this side of Christmas?

@Gracie2021 thanks for the new thread!

@PurpleUnicorn01 that’s really shit, I’m sorry to hear the news. Fingers crossed for your next FET.

beckyCarlos · 09/12/2021 08:43

Thanks for tagging me in @gracie2021 :)

@purpleunicorn01 I'm so sorry to hear your news x

thislittlebird · 09/12/2021 08:57

@jeaniej just read your update at the end of the last thread. Frustrating that they don’t consider that any sort of explanation. Unexplained in my CCG is three years, which is nuts, especially since a lot of women are over 35 when they are going through this stuff.

JeanieJ · 09/12/2021 09:42

@Gracie2021 thanks for the add 🙂

@PurpleUnicorn01 really sorry about your loss, you poor thing 😔 thinking of you Xx

@thislittlebird - I'm just gonna wait for my funding appointment and see what they say. I'm really confused as to how endo & internal scarring can not impact fertility 🤷🏻

@Kay00 yeah, it is interesting about the scarring ... I was 8 when I got the appendicitis & was actually initially misdiagnosed because my appendix was in the wrong place & it confused my doc ... ended up in A&E when it had swelled to the size of an adult man's fist & the infection had spread across my abdominal area ... so all the internal scarring is from that ... had no idea it would follow me into my adult years 🤷🏻

Kay00 · 09/12/2021 10:09

@Gracie2021 Thanks for the add Smile

@PurpleUnicorn01 oh, i'm so sorry to hear that, it must have been really difficult for you xx I will have everything crossed for your next FET xxx

paintfairy · 09/12/2021 11:30

@Gracie2021 thanks for the add. I keep falling off this thread and failing to keep up!
I hope everyone is OK?
@PurpleUnicorn01 I'm really sorry to read your update. That must have been devastating. I hope your FET goes well. 🤞💐
I'm waiting for my first scan next week, when I'll be 8 weeks.

PurpleUnicorn01 · 09/12/2021 11:36

Thank you all. Im hoping im thr new year.

Its so nice to hear from you all. I know we've been on previous threads together. I hope you are well and congrats to those expecting and good luck to the heros still trying x

paintfairy · 09/12/2021 11:52

Ok, I've just been back and caught up with what I missed.
@dogmam - congratulations! 🥳 That's great news.

There was a lot of talk about acupuncture too. I have been going (much to my bank balance's dismay). I started before my ivf and I've been going throughout, at her guidance. Does it work? No bloody idea. But I don't dare stop now. My lady is a fertility specialist and actually used to be an ivf nurse. No one IRL knew about our ivf, so I found it really useful to have someone else to talk to, in addition to the acupuncture side of it. It won't hurt though, even if it doesn't work. But I definitely wouldn't pay if I felt it was the wrong person.

PurpleUnicorn01 · 09/12/2021 12:08

@paintfairy it worked for me. Id go for it. Its do relaxing too x

dogmam · 09/12/2021 15:30

Thanks for setting up the new thread! @Gracie2021

@thislittlebird you're having a freeze all aren't you? If so I don't think you'll be prescribed progesterone straight away as you won't need that until just before your transfer, after you've been on estrogen and your lining is thick enough for FET. My clinic will only give me exactly what I need to the day, for only a few weeks at a time. It's super annoying as having to keep travelling back and forth but maybe yours will be different. And yeah I am on cyclogest, i think that's the main form of progesterone pessaries so hopfully that's what you'll get. Make sure you enquire about lubion injections too, for extra progesterone support.

@PurpleUnicorn01 Ah I'm so sorry to read that. That must have been and probably still is really really hard. I hope you can get started again soon. Do I remember correctly you had quite a few frozen embryos?

@paintfairy ahh good luck for the scan tomorrow! Bet you cant wait. How have you managed to get through the wait between positive test and scan? My scan isn't for another 3 weeks and I'm still testing most days. Have you had any 'symptoms'?

PurpleUnicorn01 · 09/12/2021 16:08

@dogmam its good to hear from you x Yes i do have frozen embryos. I start down regulating next week, then i think its all the stuff to thicken your lining. My embryo transfer will be around mid jan.

How are you feeling x

@paintfairy best if luck, if your progestrone isn't for 12 weeks ask if you can phase it off rather than come straight off it. As i really think that affected me.

paintfairy · 09/12/2021 17:13

@dogmam it's next week, but thanks. 😁
@PurpleUnicorn01 oh really? What point did you stop taking it? My clinic advise 8 weeks but I'm not comfortable with that and think I should be taking it until 12. Not phasing off it also seems risky yet they don't seem to worry about it?

PurpleUnicorn01 · 09/12/2021 17:19

@paintfairy i stopped at 8 weeks and thats when the silent miscarriage happened. I don't know if its coincidence. I didnt know until the 12 week scan. This time around they are keeping me on it for 12 weeks. Do push them if you need to x

paintfairy · 09/12/2021 17:28

@PurpleUnicorn01 it makes zero sense to stop at 8 weeks to me? Because the placenta doesn't take over until up to 12? And how maddening that if it was that, then it could have been avoided? I'm sorry you've had to go through that. Idiots.
My progesterone has been suspected as low by the hospital and the clinic. So why on earth you'd still say to come off at 8 weeks as standard, I've no idea. I have to pay for it though, and the clinic aren't cheap to buy from but I had to get it from them. The nhs only cover until test date. Ridiculously. But I think I would prefer to stay on until 12. Even though I hate the stuff!

PurpleUnicorn01 · 09/12/2021 18:40

@paintfairy i genuinely hate them too but if i were you id pay the extra and get them also if you have a nice Dr you can get them to write to your gp and they can prescribe it to you. If i could go back I defo would stay on them but i had no clue this could happen.

dogmam · 09/12/2021 20:03

@PurpleUnicorn01 aw that is heart breaking if the progesterone had anything to do with it. It's good that they've agreed to keep you on it until 12 weeks next time. Is it just the pessaries you were on?

@paintfairy ah sorry don't know why I said tomorrow! Is it just pessaries you're also on?

I just had pessaries for my first FET which resulted in a chemical. This time I'm on lubion injections too until 12 weeks along with cyclogest and estrogen.

PurpleUnicorn01 · 09/12/2021 20:32

@dogmam yes just the pessaries

Lori23TTC · 09/12/2021 21:16

@Gracie2021 thank you for adding me 🥰

@PurpleUnicorn01 I’m so sorry.. I can’t even imagine how painful this is for you ❤️ X

paintfairy · 09/12/2021 21:44

@dogmam yes pessaries for me too.
