New thread for us to continue our fertility clinic appointment progress...

Some of us are waiting for initial appointments, some are having tests and some are starting treatment!

@beckyCarlos i had the same issue, a few days makes a difference x

@beckyCarlos how long have you been on stims? It probably needs a little bit longer to grow. Hope Sunday would go better xx

@tinkerbell098 today is day 9, so 8 actual days of stims (this evening being the 9th shot) she didnt call it off then and there so thats something!

We got baguettes and eclairs from our favourite french bakery, and the sun is BLAZING in Yorkshire, so its not all bad :)

@beckyCarlos enjoy the sun and the French goodies!! As @PurpleUnicorn01 said, a couple of days will make a massive difference xx

@beckyCarlos I'm so sorry that absolutely sucks. Really hope you have a better scan on Sunday and everything was just hiding today. I know it's very little consolation if things don't turn around sunday but just to say I've been there and had the horrible scan and the cycle that just wasn't working for some reason and the left ovary that decided to take a month off etc and my doctor re-examined my protocols and got a much better result out of me the next time. No matter how it turns out though sending you all the virtual hugs and here for all the rants and sympathy and whatever you need xxx

Thanks everyone 😊 once we'd had the eclairs (if you're ever near Rawdon, go to Croissant D'Or 🤤) and I'd calmed down, I was telling my husband that the fact there is SOMEthing is good, and the first cycle is so often a stab in the dark etc. All the logical things that the emotional brain forgets. But first, Sunday!

@Gracie2021 congratulations, that's amazing and especially to have such an improvement on previous rounds!!

@beckyCarlos sorry it wasn't better news for you. My left ovary always hides and doesn't seem to be doing anything, it's definitely in the remedial egg growing class, but it has eventually generated 1 or 2 eggs in each round so hopefully there are some late bloomers hiding there for you! All fingers crossed they find them at the next scan.

So this morning didn't go well. She had to get another nurse to check that precisely nothing had changed 😔 shes going to speak to the consultant and call me later, but nothing else is there, and the two that were there haven't grown. The consultant might say to do two more days and see, but thats unlikely. So, were looking at an abandoned cycle 😔 will either have an abandoned cycle review and/or then a nurse consult for a short cycle becuase that might work better 🤷‍♀️x

They just called back, keeping on with the last 2 sets of injections, final scan on Tues, then more than likely a follow up appointment at some (hopefully not too long) point in the future to assess if a short protocol might work better 😊

At least theres a next step! I dislike the unknown. Limbo is not my happy place.

@beckyCarlos ah that’s shit. I’m really sorry. Can they convert to IUI like they did for Gracie? That might not be an option of course. On the plus side, they’ll can change the protocol now they know.

@thislittlebird thanks, they'll have a chat with me (/us! My husband might be allowed in for the first time ever lol) after the appointment on Tues, at the min the two folicles that are there are 11 and 9mm so I dont think thats even big enough for IUI! But we'll see 😊 now that I've had a few hours (and a long dog walk, and some gardening even though I bloody hate it lol) I'm more chill, its a numbers game and they went with what was most likely to get the best response, its not worked, but the next best thing might be what I need (I'm always awkward lol) contemplating whether to keep chowing down protein or whether to get a dirty pizza tonight 🤣

@beckyCarlos well, I’m glad you’re feeling a bit more chilled. keep us posted on what they say, but I vote for the dirty pizza 🍕👀

Pizza was had 🤤 if things have changed on Tuesday maybe all this diet stuff is bollocks!

@beckyCarlos I'm so sorry your second scan didn't go well honey. Absolutely sucks. Glad you're being well looked after though and hopefully the pizza helps spur those follies on. They'll know how to adjust everything for next time for a better result even though I've been there and I know it sucks so bad in the moment! Hugs xxx

Sorry for the radio silence at the weekend. Was fine on Friday after ER but was unbelievably sick on Saturday. Beach day on Sunday and feeling much better now. Unfortunately got word Saturday that only half our eggs fertilized which is much less than the average of 70-80% so worried about egg quality etc now. Get day 3 results today so hoping we're still in with a chance but unless all 4 proceed to embryos and freezing, we'll be back doing another egg collection in May. So much for my booked holidays but remaining grateful that we can afford to do another round and know we're so much luckier than some.

@beckyCarlos sorry about the scan. Hopefully they have a new plan for you xx

@Gracie2021 are you feeling any better? I hope you get some good embryos.

@beckyCarlos I'm sorry to hear that the scans on Friday and Sunday didn't go as you had hoped. It sounds as though you are looking at them in a really positive way... and the dirty pizza was a great shout! I will have all my appendages crossed for your scan on Tuesday. I know that egg growth isn't linear, so anything could happen x

@Gracie2021 I think 4 eggs is still a really good number, even if it wasn't quite the 70% average fertilisation rate, hopefully they all continue to develop to day 3 and day 5. Sorry to hear you were feeling so poorly on the Saturday too.

I had my funding come through, and my first appointment with the nurse will be on April the 7th. I'm pretty excited as I could be starting stims quite soon! However, I have a few planned holidays and family events in April and May, so I'm thinking about delaying IVF until end of May/June... but I am also keen to just crack on. So I need to give this some serious thought.

@beckyCarlos I'm so sorry about the scan. At least there is a next step and they'll be able to work out a better protocol for you. Glad you settled for the pizza, hope it was nice and made you feel a bit better. Who knows? Tomorrow's scan might go really well. Miracles do happen! Fingers crossed for you xx

@Kay00 great news about the funding letter. How long have you had to wait? Hope mine comes through soon, not a fan of waiting! Hope you can discuss timelines with them at your appointment so they don't interrupt too much with your holiday plans.

@Kay00 delighted for you that you got your funding! Will fly by now. I have the same dilemma. Think you just have to do what's right for you don't ya! I've decided to cancel our May holiday as egg collection and transfer that month is very likely. Will be august before we can go again but I just need to keep moving. Think if I take too much of a break it will be harder to face it again....

Got my day three update: 3 embryos on track and 1 behind. I'll take it! Think day 3-5 is the transition that can have the biggest attrition.

For everyone with funding letters/confirmation did you actually get something posted/emailed to you? I havent had anything, there has literally never even been a conversation about funding, apart from one time I said someting and the nurse said 'why would you be expecting to pay' 🤣 but am definitely on NHS funding currently! We did get all the forms sent electronically (I think, loads of stuff about our fitness to be parents?) And GP got the same, but never heard anything after and it all just progressed...

@beckyCarlos actually no, me neither . But I knew the clinic had applied for my funding and the letter I was posted says "We are delighted to inform you that you are now in a position to start with the initial plans for moving forward with your treatment" ... so i put two and two together I hope I'm not wrong!

@kay00 me too lol! I figure that since the only thing my clinic seem to put in writing and are shit hot on are invoices and I havent had one yet, so it must be covered 🤣 honestly, you have to note your appts, theres no online portal, nothing comes through by post email or NHS app, but get an amh test and boom, invoice through the door the next day! X

@kay00 yay on your funding! Jealous your initial appointment is earlier than mine too! No actual letter but a call then an email with tons of attachments to explain everything. I had my call about a month ago now and my initial appointment is just before Easter, hope all goes well!
