I wanted to ask is anyone having acupuncture and how often do you go and how do you find it?

So I've had 3 sessions and I feel like I'm not getting what I want out of it. Or maybe Im just expecting more and not understanding how it works?

So I normally have go in, she asks me a few questions and then I have my session and then that's it. Rarely any feedback unless I ask her.

How is it for others?

Kay00 · 27/11/2021 08:52

@tillybabs urgh! JUNE 2021!! You weren't on the list! How stressful!! At least things are moving in the right direction now xx

I heard about Jessie J, very sad. I hope that you both have success you need within 2022 xx just like your cousin ❤

I had a temp rise this morning which matched exactly with my CD16 temp rise last month, so I'm hoping that means I ovulated yesterday/last night 🤞

I'm off to London now... enjoy Oxford Street @Juno231!

readingismycardio · 27/11/2021 10:38
@TheDaydreamBelievers fab that stuff is happening! How does it work if it's recommended by a private gynae though, would it all be private? Did she say why she'd want you to do a hycosy if you managed to conceive in the past?

@IsabelHerna welcome! What are they waiting for to see blood test result wise? Will you be doing long or short protocol?

Intro wise:

I'm 33 and TTC#1. Came off the pill in Sep 2019 and it took a year for my body to get over things like super greasy hair and post pill acne. Been trying properly since Jan 2020 without a single BFP. Had allll the blood tests done, lots of scans, two SAs, an HSG, a laparoscopy etc and we fall in the "unexplained infertility" camp. Will be starting IVF in Jan as a result - next step is a trial embryo transfer next month though.
This is pretty much something I could've written. We're going deep into this in January too with possible IVF. Not sure yet what the specialist will suggest.

MissC07 · 27/11/2021 11:35

@Tillybabs I had acupuncture back in May/June for about 6 weeks but it didn't do anything for me. It was very relaxing but just not sustainable justifying the cost when it wasn't having the desired effect. My acupuncturist also said that she wouldn't see me anymore as wasn't seeing any results!

WhirlingD · 27/11/2021 11:49

@Tillybabs I've spent a fortune on acupuncture. I started in about March after almost 3 months with no period. I have since started cycling fairly regularly again. It could be a whole host of things such as healthier eating or just my body having a bit of a jumpstart, but I personally think the acupuncture may have helped. One thing's for sure, I feel hugely relaxed after my session and my acupuncturist feels like a bit of a therapist. She seems to know more about my cycle than I do!

I'm on a bit of a hormonal rollercoaster with my condition and acupuncture seems to level things a bit. I will continue for another few months and then might just cut back for financial reasons!

Re Jessie J, the only thing my consultant did point out when he was discussing my suitability for DEIVF was that it looks like I have very mild adenomyosis! I have no symptoms at all but that would be just my luck!! Another thing to have to consider!

I'm on CD8 with lots of EWCM. According to ovusense, I ovulated on CD11 last month. So after 101 day cycles, they are now 26. Typical of perimenopause apparently. God knows if they eggs are any good, but at least I'm now banging them out regularly. Smile

WhirlingD · 27/11/2021 11:50

@readingismycardio @Juno231 sounds like we could all be IVF buddies!

Gracie2021 · 27/11/2021 12:34

@Kay00 Enjoy the weekend, it sounds absolutely lovely and like things ended up being timed so well yesterday. Hope you have a fab weekend!

@Juno231 Feel like a bit of a cycle stalker here, 5 DPO here too. Always seem to be day for day with you. Sorry to hear you haven't been well, hope you're on the mend now. Thanks for sharing about your Jan20 friend and her BFP - those stories give such hope! Really hope all goes well for her.

@Mushrooms0up a very big welcome and hope your stay is short.

@ChinChilly So glad you have your scan this week and hope it helps reassure you. How are you feeling these days?

@Tillybabs Can't believe they didn't have you on the list!!! Well done on being proactive and getting it sorted. Hope the app comes quickly for you. Sorry you're stuck waiting on it too. On the acuP, I'm similar to @WhirlingD - have done 12 sessions earlier last year and am now 5 sessions in with a new acupuncturist and love it for the relaxation. My lining does good things too but tbh I'm on so many tablets it might have nothing to do with the AcuP. I'm taking the same approach as you WhirlingD and keeping going as long as I can afford it, til after IVF in Feb anyway and will then reassess. It all adds up unfortunately.
**@readingismycardio* @Juno231* sounds like we could all be IVF buddies!
We're booked on the 26th of Jan, can't wait to see if he suggests IUI or IVF, who knows. I am so worried, and so stressed and so disappointed that it hasn't happened on its own...

Tillybabs · 27/11/2021 14:14

@MissC07 oh that's a bit rubbish that she said she wasn't seeing results so wasn't going to see you anymore.

@WhirlingD @Gracie2021 thanks for sharing your experiences.

I've only had 3 sessions and have stopped it pending my MRI and hysterocopy and then I will start again but I might try and look around and try a different acupuncturist

Tillybabs · 27/11/2021 14:15

@Kay00 that definitely sounds like you ovulated. Enjoy your day in London.

Moocher90 · 29/11/2021 19:08

Evening all,

Nothing exciting going on with me I’m CD46 and no period in site and not pregnant :(

So I spoke to GP today and I have been prescribed provera to kick start my cycle :( I really don’t know what’s going on as I was having 23 day cycles. Took my first tablet this evening.

Once my period comes I need to go for day 2 bloods and also need to book in my nhs hycosy despite already having one privately…no wonder the nhs is on its knees 😳 they also keep denying they received my DH SA results 😳 despite the clinic saying they have sent them over to them twice. The NHS have outsourced that service and it so happens it’s the same place where we had our private couples fertility tests.

My follow up gynacology appointment isn’t until February 😳 feels like such a long time away.
I think if I’m not pregnant by Jan/Feb I will be going to Prague for IVF.

Mushrooms0up · 29/11/2021 19:19

@Moocher90 sorry to hear that. Hopefully it will have the intended affect and actually kick start it all for you.

Hopefully Feb will come around quickly, get Xmas out of the way and it will soon be here!

The whole process is so frustrating though and everything take SO long. I had to call for a scan the other day and was on hold for 2 hours! Luckily I have a desk job and could just leave it calling in the background

Farley21 · 30/11/2021 11:14

Hi All,

I was recommended to join this thread. I'm new to mumsnet.

I've been reading through all your trade and there is some really great advice.

Just a bit about me..

I'm almost 30 and TTC #1.
I came off Yasmin BC pill after being on it for over 10 years. Had withdrawal bleed as usual and then I had my first natural period 6.5 weeks later. I'm currently on CD 18.
I started tracking with OPKs from day 7. No positive yet, but the darkest line was on CD 16 (but not as dark as control line) .

I'm just looking to see what other people's experiences were? Did you ovulate right away after BC?

I know everyone is different and my body may take a while to adjust but I am
Interested in others experiences!

Xxx

WonderingWoman30 · 30/11/2021 14:21

When I came off the pill 4 or so years ago it took me a year to ovulate! I went back on the pill pretty much straight away, so I’m not sure what my cycles would’ve been like. I came off it again about 6 weeks ago… hoping it doesn’t take a year to come back again as this time hoping to TTC.

I asked on the Conception forum but maybe better to ask in this thread, if you’ve come off the pill more than once, does it usually take the same amount of time each time?

Kay00 · 30/11/2021 14:51

Welcome @WonderingWoman30 @Farley21 !! I think it can vary from woman to woman and from cycle to cycle, but it does seem to be that when we finish our pill cycles it can take a little while for our hormones to kick in to allow us to ovulate. This is completely normal, but very frustrating.

@Wondering I think there is no way to know if you will or won't ovulate the same as last time, but if you get to 90+ days without ovulation it might be worth chatting with your doctor.

@Farley hang in there and keep testing Smile Your body might have a couple of attempts at ovulating before if finally manages (again quite normal after finishing the pill). My advice is to start testing several times a day when the OPKs start getting darker to ensure you don't miss any peaks that occur later in the day.

Thanks ladies. We had such a wonderful time in London. We saw the changing of the guards, went to Winter wonderland, ice skating, Harry Potter and the Sea Life Centre Smile

I'm 4DPO, ovulation confirmed through temps (that I managed to sneakily take in the hotel room Grin)

WhirlingD · 30/11/2021 17:58

@WonderingWoman30 @Farley21 it took me 14 days to ovulate when I stopped microgynon at age 35 and then about 95 days after stopping the same pill at age 38. Somewhere in between those dates, i developed early menopause, but I'm very unlucky (1/150 women). After the 101 day cycle (early this year), it was 86 and then 37 and then I've had 3 at under 30 days. I'm doing IVF in Jan with donor eggs. For anyone with long cycles, I do recommend testing FSH. I was fast to the doctors and it has meant I haven't wasted too much time. I think you are both younger than me though!

MissC07 · 30/11/2021 21:07

@Kay00 yay for ovulation and sneaky temp taking 🥳

Farley21 · 01/12/2021 10:18

Thanks so much everyone!

Here are my OPKs so far.. should I keep testing??

TTC post pill - Halloween Party
Kay00 · 01/12/2021 15:54

Hi @Farley21 hmm... certainly none are positive. Its possible you ovulated around CD16/17 and just missed the peak (I am absolutely rubbish at catching a peak) or you body just had a bit of a go and failed around that time. Keep testing once a day for now (2nd morning urine, around 11am) to see if they get any darker. Have you been checking anything else... such as temps or your cervical mucous?

Farley21 · 01/12/2021 16:14

Hi @Kay00 thanks so much for your reply.

No I haven't been checking anything else.
I'm finding I'm getting very obsessive already about OPKs so I'm worried I'll just become more stressed if I start tracking other things.

I took another OPK just now and it's still not dark. I think you're right- I will start doing them once a day from now on and see!! Fingers crossed. I hope I'm not gearing up for another 45 day cycle....

Juno231 · 01/12/2021 18:40

@Farley21 I'd carry on testing if I were you. The fact that so many of them are so dark shows your body is still struggling hormone wise post pill as LH shouldn't be consistently elevated like that.

Mushrooms0up · 01/12/2021 18:44

By way of an update on me, still waiting for this AF to properly finish (day 7…).

I’ve ordered some inositol which has just arrived. Has anyone tried this / had any success?

@Farley21 I’m not expert but it looks as though you’re trying to ovulate. Hopefully it did happen around day 16/17.

Farley21 · 01/12/2021 20:22

Thanks @Juno231 and @Mushrooms0up . I really really appreciate it x

madeleine85 · 01/12/2021 22:21

@Farley21 I took 20 or 21 CD to ovulate on each of my first 2 cycles off the pill. It just takes a while for bodies to start to get back on track i think. I'd just keep testing once a day (late morning/early afternoon if possible). My first month I didn't read the instructions properly and tested with FMU for a few weeks before realising my mistake and changing the timing.

@WonderingWoman30 I read to expect 1-3 months for your body to re-start ovulation, mine came in 2 weeks, but obviously not pregnant, and things seem to still getting back to normal, so I think it does just annoyingly take time.

@WhirlingD wow, that must have been such a shock, so glad that you went to the doctors to figure it out quickly. That's great that you are starting IVF/donor egg conception. Fingers crossed for you!
