Hope this works girls, haven’t done this before, we’ve run out of space on the other thread.

@Hoping43 it really depends if you’re private, and then you can do what you want as long as they think it’s worth trying. You will have a lot of flexibility if you’re paying, you could do OI or IUI if your partner’s spent is fine. If it’s nhs there’s no ivf for people who already have kids, but they might offer clomid like @Marvellouslymadmum is doing.

thislittlebird · 06/03/2022 12:55

*Sperm, not spent!

Hoping43 · 06/03/2022 12:58

@thislittlebird thank you. Yes, we are NHS at the moment. We went down this route to find out what the issue is but if we need IVF we may go to a private clinic or continue where we are depending on what happens. I am hoping they will give me clomid but obviously don’t want to waste any more time if it’s not going to work.

@Marvellouslymadmum have you already got children? We had both of ours within the last 5 years and my youngest was only 18 months when we started TTC again. I just don’t understand what has gone so wrong in that space of time x

Marvellouslymadmum · 07/03/2022 17:03

@Hoping43 yes I have two children now 16 & 17 and my partner has two now 14 & 15. We are nhs and have just done three rounds of clomid 50mg now I've been given 3 months of 100mg. Like @thislittlebird says there's no ivf on the nhs if you have children so that would have to be private but you may get clomid or letrozole it depends on your docs really. I was referred to the gynaecologist after ttc for three years. I went to the docs and had a multitude of tests with them then she referred me and they put me on the clomid so if you can get referred sooner rather than later that definitely ups your chances of being given it.

What brand of ovulations strips does everyone use? I've been using the Femometer ones but they keep going up in price - what are your views on east at home or one step?

Hoping43 · 07/03/2022 17:11

@Marvellouslymadmum thank you. We have been referred and have had all the basic tests so we have our first consultant appt on 29th March. I’m interested and terrified to find out what they think the cause is and also what they propose to do about it. It doesn’t seem to be male factor. I’m thinking possibly egg reserve on the lower side of normal (FSH 9.6, AFC 13, awaiting AMH results) or potentially something to do with having a c section previously. Really I have no idea but i feel like a consultant myself with all the google researching I have done!!

Marvellouslymadmum · 07/03/2022 17:32

@Hoping43 oh that's good! They'll likely they'll just say it's secondary infertility, that's what they've said for us. My amh is low but that actually has no impact on getting pregnant naturally anyway just effects how well you respond to ivf unless of course it's 0 which it's unlikely to be. Egg health is what needs improving at an older age so protein, a good diet and supplements including co-q10

thislittlebird · 07/03/2022 17:43

@Hoping43 it can just be luck of course, you may have nothing wrong and it’s just unfortunate. Your AFC sounds fine to me, I wouldn’t say 13 is low, and it doesn’t really matter unless you’re pursuing IVF, as long as you’re ovulating regularly and have normal progesterone and other hormone levels. Agree with everything @Marvellouslymadmum said, secondary infertility is the most likely ‘diagnosis’.

Hoping43 · 07/03/2022 17:52

@thislittlebird @Marvellouslymadmum thanks guys for your reassurance. Do you know if my AMH could still be low even if my AFC is ok at 13? I’m scared to ring up and get my result. We will ultimately pursue IVF even though we have 2 children as I have to feel I’ve done all I can with no regrets xx

Marvellouslymadmum · 07/03/2022 18:50

@Hoping43 in general your afc should correlate to your amh however, I've known people have it both ways with a high afc and a low amh and a high amh and a low afc so no way if telling really xx

thislittlebird · 07/03/2022 18:54

@Hoping43 your AMH could be a bit low, it's quite unpredictable, or it could be higher. Most likely it won't be too low if you have 13 follicles visible, but it is hard to say and can vary from month to month too.

Marvellouslymadmum · 23/03/2022 20:08

Has this thread died or is there a new one and I missed it? 🤦🏼‍♀️

Hoping43 · 23/03/2022 20:30

I just think nobody has any updates 🙄🤷🏼‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️ But I’m still here waiting for my appt on Tuesday xx

Marvellouslymadmum · 23/03/2022 20:45

@Hoping43 ahh probably. Hope your appointment goes well Tuesday! Xx

Hoping43 · 23/03/2022 20:54

@Marvellouslymadmum how are you getting on? X

Hoping43 · 23/03/2022 20:55

@Marvellouslymadmum and thank you! I feel nervous about the outcome x

Marvellouslymadmum · 23/03/2022 21:05

@Hoping43 rubbish here, cd26 and not ovulated yet. On my fourth round of clomid but the first one on 100mg 🙄 what is your appointment gif I can't remember sorry! X

Hoping43 · 23/03/2022 21:31

@Marvellouslymadmum don’t you ovulate, is that why you are on clomid?

My appt is first with the consultant to summarise our test results, draw a conclusion hopefully on what the issue is and discuss treatment options x

Marvellouslymadmum · 23/03/2022 21:50

@Hoping43 I do usually ovulate at some point but my cycles can be irregular.
Ahh ok, hopefully the yell be able to help you! 🤞🏻 x

Hoping43 · 23/03/2022 22:01

@Marvellouslymadmum ah I see. I was offered letrozole with my second as they said there was a chance I wasn’t ovulating as my cycles ranged from 28-34 days which tbh I thought was pretty regular! I wonder if I’ll be offered it again. I never took it last time in the end as I was pregnant at the appt but I didn’t know x

Marvellouslymadmum · 23/03/2022 22:07

@Hoping43 they may offer it to you again! You never know x

thislittlebird · 23/03/2022 23:13

Nothing happening here either @Marvellouslymadmum, except a lot of thrush after the ivf 🥴. I’m currently trying to delay AF with progesterone because we’re going to be away in Scotland for over a week, and my clinic will want me to come for a scan on day 9 or 10 afaik if I go ahead with a natural cycle. Trying to make day 9 and 10 nearer to the end of my holiday than the middle of it!

I really don’t want a medicated FET, migraines and thrush suggest I’ve got too much oestrogen anyway, so I’m hoping for natural FET. I haven’t mentioned to them I don’t often get positive ovulation tests, just going to wing it and maybe get the clear blue ones.

Marvellouslymadmum · 25/03/2022 09:41

@thislittlebird sounds like a nightmare! Does extra oestrogen cause thrush? Because I get it often and have high oestrogen too 🤔

thislittlebird · 26/03/2022 22:11

@Marvellouslymadmum yeah not super fun! I just finished having a 3.5 day migraine :/ very tired of it but I think the IVF knocked my hormones off kilter. I also have a face full of spots, and I never get spots. Not fun.

Yeah, afaik high? oestrogen can cause thrush. I haven't read about it in a while but it's worth reading up on.

thislittlebird · 26/03/2022 22:14

@Marvellouslymadmum you use clear blue ovulation tests, right? I used to have the digital gadget thingy and I sold it, so I've not used the regular ones and wondered which I needed to get.
