@ShirleyValentineManc
I have semi-unexplained fertility! They can account for my sub-fertility as one of my tubes is blocked, but the other one is open, so I should have been able to get pregnant after 3 years trying. Despite that my clinic did say I could try a couple of cycles of ovulation induction with times intercourse before starting IVF if I wanted to. This is a private clinic mind, I don't know if NHS clinics would have a different policy
Hi @Cally1980 - Not an expert, but from bits I've read, I don't think it's a long shot at all at 41. For most women it takes longer as we get older as the proportion of good eggs in fewer, but lots and lots of people eventually have success. Quite a few of us here have been very unlucky however, but I think most of us have had investigations and have some kind of idea about why. I would say I do wish I'd pursued investigations earlier- I spent over a year thinking maybe we just weren't trying hard enough!
@thislittlebird - thank you- I have had a 'good quality' embryo transferred this morning and three more are being frozen. Still a long way from an actual baby, but this is the best result I've ever had across 3 cycles
I've been trying to eat a fairly high-protein/low carb diet since our last cycle failed. At least 60g protein and less than 100g carbs/day and also started taking 2 new supplements - TruNiagen and PQQ. Both have been linked with improved egg quality (in animal studies, so evidence isn't considered strong, but they don't do any harm - well only to your bank account ! )
I'll never know if these things have helped or not, but the quality of our embryos was so much better than before, so maybe they have
