Is anyone else TTC their first baby?
Lots of helpful threads on here but looking to speak to people who are in the same boat as me and trying for their first baby.

Anyone else finding it such a learning curve, I had no idea about the fertile week and the two week wait Grin .
We’ve been trying since January and AF keeps coming every month, starting to give up hope.
Would love to hear from other people as to how you are getting on.

I'm also trying to conceive my first!! I am currently 12DPO on my first cycle (had my implant removed a month ago) and I have learned a lot about conceiving in just one month and feel like I know my body more already! Successfully tracked ovulation and found my peak. Unfortunately my tests today have came back negative and I am due on in 2 days and can feel myself about to come on Sad I find it hard not to obsess altho it's my first month trying I have wanted a baby all year but have only just got round to ttc. Good luck to you hun xxxx
CKoRn · 20/07/2021 12:53

Me, I've just turned 36 and I'm currently 4dpo. I have monitered my ovulation this month (even though I'm like clockwork, but it's comforting to have those sticks to back me up lol).

I know I'd have to be realllyyyy lucky for it to work first time, but I have all my toes, fingers, legs and arms crossed lmao

ginandgiggles · 20/07/2021 12:53

Hi! Also about to start trying for my first, my implant came out last Friday and my predicted ovulation is this coming Monday. I'm under no pretence that it wont happen the first time but exciting none the less! Same @Paigef98, i never paid attention to this sort of thing until I needed to, and I've learned so much! Good luck to you both xx

CTMcG · 20/07/2021 12:57

Hello @Dolores25

I am trying for first baby as well! Still early day's for me! I am on cycle 2, cycle day 12! Opking every day to try and find my peak as my periods arent very regular! Only ovulated on cd65 of first cycle😳 but i think previtamins were to blame as cycle before that when i hadnt started trying was only 34 days long so interesting to see how long this cycle will be!

xoJellyBean · 21/07/2021 20:42

Also trying for for our first baby! Been a long year or so for me though... I'm getting so fed up with it all! This forum is great for venting x

Itsjustme20 · 21/07/2021 21:06

Im also TTC for our first baby 😊 Currently on cycle 2 although first cycle we weren’t ‘too’ fixated on it although I did do a few OPK’s and had a peak. Absolutely no peak this month yet though and I’m CD21 now 😔 It’s such a heart wrenching journey for us all but hopefully we won’t be venting too much longer! Xx

LetsDoTheTango · 22/07/2021 01:03

Hi everyone, we are also TTC our first baby. Both my husband and I are in our early thirties. I'm currently in the middle of the TWW of our fourth cycle and am symptom spotting like crazy! I stupidly took a test at 7DPO which, of course, was negative. I'm now 10DPO and AF is due next Wednesday so have told myself to hold out until the day before. I think I'm going to invest in a couple of FRERs as I've just been using Internet cheapies up until now. If this cycle isn't successful then I'm going to try OPKs next month. I just so desperately want that BFP but know that it's still very much early days for us. Wishing you all the best of luck on your TTC journeys. Xxx

GeorgiaMcGraw · 22/07/2021 07:43

Hello, ttc 1st here. Got pregnant on the 5th cycle but had a mmc, discovered at 12 week scan, took a month to complete. Now on my 3rd cycle after that, 6dpo. Not feeling hopeful. I have 28-29 day cycles but seem to ovulate late (day18 or 19). Took Agnus Caster in my period and post-period weeks, I'm hoping that might help my cycle, but it is abortive, so not taking in 2 week window. Quite fed up now tbh!

SareBear87 · 22/07/2021 13:49

Same boat! TTC #1, I'm 34 (DP is 46 so need to get a wiggle on!) currently on cycle 8, had a CP last cycle which was devastating. Unfortunately for us due to DPs age we are at a slightly elevated risk of losses.
I am a POAS addict but slowly trying to get better!

Dolores25 · 22/07/2021 14:11

Hello everyone!! Thanks for everyone’s replies, it’s great to know we’re not alone in this journey.

I’ve just had a positive OPK, but DH is working away, due back late tonight. I think I’ll be waiting up for him getting in Wink.

@LetsDoTheTango we are early 30s too and are the first out of our friend circle to be TTC.
I started using OPK’s on month 3 and so far they’ve not helped get our BFP but I do feel like I’m a bit more in control of it by using them if that makes sense.

I am also a poas addict @SareBear87 , I wouldn’t like to add up the waste of money so far, I hide most of them from DH Blush.

@GeorgiaMcGraw sorry to hear about your loss! Ooo I’ve not heard of Agnus Caster before, what is it used for?

Hi

I am similar- been trying for just over a year and early 30’s - AF came today and I’ve been sat in tears for the past couple of hours

I also have covid which has hit me pretty hard, I’ve been feeling deathly since Sunday, so I’m feeling particularly miserable

Hope you’re all doing better than me today!

I find Instagram and Facebook is the worst trigger as it feels like everyone is having babies and its hard not to feel incredibly angry or upset everytime a new announcement pops up which then makes me feel guilty and like a bitter person - anyone else get this?

I’m on 2nd round femera because I have PCOS although I had regular periods which seems to go irregular over lockdown xxx

MrsJ6921 · 22/07/2021 15:56

Hi girls,

Similar position currently on our first cycle TTC for our first baby and have successfully been tracking my ovulation with OPK’s for a couple of months previously to get into the swing of things. I have a regular like clockwork 28 day cycle and ovulate slap bang in the middle with ovulation pains so I’ve always been quite well informed with what my body is doing.

We’re getting married in September but decided to start TTC beforehand as why not. Not feeling hopeful this month even though we have done a lot of baby dancing but with my Hen Party coming up this weekend and being 2DPO I feel like this may cut our chances this month.

Sending lots of hope to you all x

LetsDoTheTango · 22/07/2021 23:45

@Dolores25 that's great that the OPKs give you that sense of being in control, I think it will help me to approach TTC a bit more pragmatically if I can see exactly what my body is doing. I find it really interesting actually. Which ones do you use? I've just bought a cheapie box off Amazon to start with. That's great you've had your positive OPK today - have fun with your hubby tonight! Fingers crossed this is your month Smile

@Mouseyel I'm sorry to hear you're feeling so down at the moment Flowers it sounds like you've had a rough ride of it with Covid, so you're going to be feeling run down and that never helps. I had Covid last year and it was horrendous so you have my sympathy. Fingers crossed you start to feel better soon.

I know exactly what you mean about the baby announcements on social media. I feel like every time I log on at the moment, someone new is posting a photo of an ultrasound scan. Obviously I'm so happy for those people, I just wish it were me too Sad so rest assured I can totally relate to how you're feeling, it's really crap. I feel guilty too when I get those envious feelings bubbling up but I say say myself, it's only natural. So have a good cry, let it out and then dust yourself down. Be gentle with yourself.

I don't have any experience of PCOS myself, so I hope you don't mind me asking what femera is? What does it do?

I hope you feel in a better place soon. I've been there before. Sending you a big hug Smile

@MrsJ6921 congratulations on your upcoming wedding! That's so exciting. I hope you have a great hen do. What are your plans? Or are they a surprise?

Wishing you all the best on your TTC journey. Sending you all lots of baby dust this month x

thefirstattempt · 23/07/2021 12:38

Hey!

I’m also ttc. Fell pregnant in March but ended up miscarrying at 9 weeks. Just started trying again, currently 3dpo. Trying to keep busy but this wait is just agonising! I did the ovulation sticks which seem to give a good indication. Also using Flo app but find it’s not terribly accurate for tracking my ovulation.

Fingers crossed for you all! X

MrsW1993 · 23/07/2021 12:52

Hi everyone! Smile

I'm new to mumsnet and I'm in the exact same boat! I've been ttc since February. Fell pregnant first cycle but miscarried in April at 6 weeks. And now I've been trying ever since! I should be due AF in next few days but no sign yet so fingers crossed Grin

Bibidy · 23/07/2021 13:08

I am :)

It's hard isn't it because you spend your life thinking you're going to get pregnant the minute you miss a pill, and when it actually comes to it I've been off my mini-pill since mid-May and no pregnancy yet Grin.

I can't really get my head around all the temperature and ovulation stuff. I got some OPKs but had a couple of faint lines and then nothing so guess I tried them after ovulation? Never noticed any egg white CM at any point tbh so don't think that will be any help for me.

I know they say it's normal for things not to return to normal until at least 3 months after stopping the pill though so we'll see. I've had 2 periods at regular times since stopping so that's hopeful, but they are only 4 days which I'm sure is shorter than they were before I started the pill.....but then that was years ago now!

Dolores25 · 23/07/2021 13:16

@LetsDoTheTango
I got the cheapie ones from Amazon too, the ones you can download the app and scan them in. I did try the clear blue ones too with then flashing smiley but to be honest they were more expensive and I preferred the cheapies , I like seeing the line myself and it getting darker and going back down again😂😂. I’ve been using Flo too, and it seems to be quite accurate.

@Mouseyel sorry to hear you are feeling so down. I hope you are feeling a bit better today. It’s so tough when AF arrives every month but I always try to think of it of a new cycle and new opportunity too Flowers

@MrsW1993 ah I am sorry to hear about your miscarriage l. fingers crossed for you this month! Keep us updated.

@MrsJ6921 how exciting that you are getting married soon. We got married in June (covid wedding after many cancelled plans) it was still an amazing day for us. Do share your wedding plans if you don’t mind. I love to hear about other people’s weddings!

@Dolores25 thank you!! I will definatley keep you all updated!

I'm either 11dpo or 14dpo. I'm roughly 27-29 day cycles. My Fitbit is telling me I am due AF on the 26th but my other tracker is telling me I'm due today! Only thing I've had is lower back ache so far. Some twinges earlier in the week. I did an asda early test his morning but bfn Sad but apparently they aren't very reliable!!
Anyone else heard this about asda tests?

Hey!

Joining in on this one!

I'm 31 and about to start my 5th cycle ttc our first baby, I have a regular 30 day cycle. I use opks aswell as the clearblue ovulation sticks. I get positive ovulation results every month around the same time. BD on all the right days, have been trying to be relaxed about it for the last 2 months (as much as one can!) But still don't see those 2 lines at the end of the month 😢

I've bought the fertilily and used it once but got so scared that I would block those little swimmers from getting to where they need to be!! I've bought pre seed to try this month.

So determined, anyone else in a similar point in their cycle?

Good luck and baby dust to everyone 💕

Bee44 · 23/07/2021 14:48

@Dolores25 I'm TTC #1 and been trying since January too! I stopped symptom spotting and early testing months ago as, to be honest, I felt so disheartened when I didn't conceive within the first 3 months. I think us women are so misinformed when it comes to TTC so we just assume that it all happens so quickly. Also, I didn't know anything about ovulation before TTC - I literally just thought pregnancy happens any time of the month!

I'm 14DPO today and AF usually appears late evening 13DPO without fail - trying not to get my hopes up but I'm also on holiday so I can't test 🙃

Baby dust to you all 💫💖

JScarlett · 23/07/2021 15:54

Hello everyone! Lovely to "meet" you all!

I am also TTC #1 and currently on my 2nd cycle. I had some problems in the past in that I wasn't ovulating - I had Polycystic Ovaries but not PCOS. I went a time without any periods (over 2 years), but now get them but cycle length is long and irregular. Had bloods and swabs done recently and all came back OK, my OH has done a sample and just awaiting results. Have a telephone appointment with fertility clinic on 10th Aug to discuss options (due to risk I might not be ovulating like before, dr has referred me).

I got an LH surge on 14th July but I don't think this necessarily means I am ovulating properly, but if I do take the positive OPK as indication of ovulation I am currently 9DPO. Not sure when to test with periods being so irregular, but have no early pregnancy symptoms so I think most likely just waiting for AF and will try again next month.

Has anyone else had similar experiences with no ovulation but no PCOS?

Wishing you all the best of look and baby dust xx

thefirstattempt · 23/07/2021 16:01

@Bee44 fingers crossed for you! Keep us updated ☺️

blossom325 · 23/07/2021 16:43

Hi everyone, we’re TTC #1. I got a peak reading on clear blue 13/7 but not sure exactly when I ovulated so going off latest 15/7 so 8 dpo with no symptoms really... I had some cramping Monday and a massive headache Tuesday and now cold symptoms that came out of nowhere, but it could just all me a coincidence. I’ve done a PT and BFN - it’s our first month trying but still disheartening. I’ve become quite obsessed with symptom spotting and testing. I’m due tomorrow, but usually run late. I found the Flo app also didn’t predict my ovulation time right so thank goodness I started testing early and frequently! My cycle has always been irregular as well. Good luck to everyone! 🤞🏼

MrsW1993 · 24/07/2021 08:30

Hi everyone! Just an update for you, I had some pink just on wiping this morning and nothing else. I also had the tiniest bit of pink last night So I'm hoping this is implantation and not AF! Lol but will see what happens by the end of the day. Normally I spot brown before AF and she comes very quickly! So I'm keeping everything crossed today Smile

MiniSmartie · 24/07/2021 08:41

Hey everyone! First time posting, first time trying. This was our first month TTC and I did an early test today with a negative result. Feeling a bit gutted but also not particularly surprised. We've wanted a baby for years but me and DH are finally in a secure enough position in life to try. It's nice to be on this journey with other people! Smile
