New thread for us to continue our fertility clinic appointment progress...

Some of us are waiting for initial appointments, some are having tests and some are starting treatment!

@Tillybabs ok so if yours is 17 maybe they’re not being totally crazy putting me on 150 at the grand old age of 38 Confused. I’m hoping they’ll increase the dose if I don’t respond well.

Unfortunately bbt doesn’t really work because I’m a bit PCO. Also I find it mega stressful, so I haven’t done it since January.

It’s impossibly to say, just super frustrating because I hear all these mn people say they get sore boobs after ovulation and symptoms on progesterone. I get nothing, other than once in a blue moon and then I don’t get a bfp anyway, even when it might be working. I feel so inferior sometimes, why doesn’t my body just work like other people’s? 😩

Tillybabs · 18/09/2021 23:05

@thislittlebird I honestly don't get post ovulation symptoms. I do get ovulation pain and tenderness but everyone is different so don't worry about it too much.

I'm away for 2 days with OH and stressing as forgot my vitamins that I take religiously. Sounds ridiculous I know but I'm thinking all sorts. Will it affect my egg quality etc etc.

When roughly will you start Gonal F?

thislittlebird · 18/09/2021 23:08

@Tillybabs it’s hard because it just feels like my body doesn’t respond normally, I wish it would do something to give me a sign it’s functioning lol

I get that. I was worrying earlier because my vitamin box needs topping up and I can’t be bothered to do it tonight, so I skipped a couple and then started worrying I’ve ruined it all. It’s very annoying.

Not sure when I start the gonal f, maybe Novermber. Waiting for the call up to start, they said two to three months from Aug 31 when we had our appointment.

Tillybabs · 18/09/2021 23:46

@thislittlebird fingers crossed you won't even need it!

Juno231 · 19/09/2021 13:29

@thislittlebird don't over think it - ovulation symptoms can differ all the time anyway. Besides, they're caused by progesterone and with your meds it's not as if you'll be short on that? So seems pointless to assume you didn't when you have nothing to base it on - I'm sure all went well!

Tillybabs · 19/09/2021 13:38

Random question ladies. Of those who have had their bfps in this group, would you mind saying if any of you had the Covid vaccines?

And was this before egg collection?

Reason I'm asking if because I've had both my jabs and have had really heavy periods since and half regretting having them now. Plus all the scaremongering. I half wish I waited until after egg collection!

dogmam · 19/09/2021 14:10

@thislittlebird they like your lining to be between 8 and 14mm for transfer, I'm not quite sure what mine was on the day of transfer but when I went for the scan about 5 days earlier it was 7.6mm.

@Tillybabs I haven't had the jab. I'm certainly not an anti vaxxer but for me personally I didn't want anything out of the normal in my body/system when I knew I needed ivf but this goes for other things too, I tried to cut down on cleaning chemicals, perfume and fragranced moisturiser processed food etc. You know how infertility makes you.. a bit crazy and although I know there is zero evidence that the jab effects fertility and I do believe that, if treatment wasn't to work then I didn't want to blame it on anything.
Lots of people have had a positive result after having the jab, it was totally just mind over matter for me.

@dogmam yes I feel the same as you and regret having it now as my mind is just thinking all sorts now. Ughh

thislittlebird · 19/09/2021 15:06

@dogmam ok, interesting. Mine was something like 10.6 this month, it always seems ok but I wonder if I have a lot of oestrogen anyway because I have progesterone issues.

@Tillybabs I’m not pregnant but I don’t think it’s vaccine related that I’m not if that makes sense, because I’ve been trying a long time pre-vaccine. I don’t think it impacted my periods, I got it on cd1 and 2, but either it or my first session of acupuncture got my periods back to normal after months of weird, light and short periods.

@Juno231 yeah, it’s just really hard to believe it worked and I ovulated when nothing different has been felt. Levels are probably very low normally, without the progesterone.

Tillybabs · 19/09/2021 15:19

@thislittlebird I had my first acupuncture session last week and she did tell me my next period would have clots. I'm hoping it levels off soon

Juno231 · 20/09/2021 11:20

@thislittlebird I know, try not to focus on that though (easier said than done). How many DPO are you now?

@dogmam I read all your updates but think I forgot to actually congratulate you! How is the line now? I hope this is it for you xx

@Tillybabs I had both my jabs but it didn't affect my cycles other than one mid cycle bleed after the first jab. I don't regret getting it as on the flipside if I got covid whilst pregnant I'd never forgive myself for potentially hurting the baby. So I think you could regret it regardless and there's no point dwelling on something that can't be changed now x

@Kay00 how is it going with SIL in the house?

Wilsonicus · 20/09/2021 13:28

Hi everyone, hope it's okay that I join in.

I've got my ovarian assessment at a private fertility clinic on Thursday, after 6 years of trying and one miscarriage to show for it. I'm overweight, so don't qualify for IVF on the NHS (bmi of 33). I'm trying to be hopeful about going private, but I'm just so stressed out at the moment, imagining everything that could go wrong. I'm so worried that they won't treat me, even though I've spoken to the clinic and they've been very reassuring. And then there's a list of worries a mile long in my head about what could happen, and I'm so tense that at this point I'm practically brittle!

I dont really have anyone to talk to about all this, so it would be super nice to chat to anyone who has gone through IVF.

Juno231 · 20/09/2021 13:42

@Wilsonicus hi and welcome! 6 years is a long slog - I'm sorry you've then had an MC on top of that :( What will be happening next with the clinic - have you been told a timeline at all?

Wilsonicus · 20/09/2021 13:53

@Juno231 nice to meet you!

No timeline yet. We're having all our tests on Thursday and then have a consultant appt in early October, where I guess he'll tell us The Plan. Which is terrifying but I guess I just want to know what's going to happen now. I love the NHS but after been flung around for 6 years waiting for something to happen, I guess I'm just worried that the same thing will happen, I guess?

Tillybabs · 20/09/2021 13:55

@Juno231 you're right. I was just having a moment but feel better about it today. I have my first scan today since starting Gonal F. Only been on it for 2 days so far.

@Wilsonicus welcome. Try not to worry and stress too much. At least you might get some answers now and may also get to fix any issues you might have. Have you had any blood tests at all yet?

Juno231 · 20/09/2021 14:12

@Wilsonicus well on the bright side a private clinic is far less likely to discard you if they can get money out of you! So here's to hoping a Nov IVF start date for you! I think normally they have to wait until CD1 to start The Plan.

@Tillybabs oh exciting stuff! Can you feel any side effects yet?

Tillybabs · 20/09/2021 14:16

@Juno231 I don't think so. I do feel tender in the pelvic area more so than usual but not sure if that's just period related.

thislittlebird · 20/09/2021 15:21

@Juno231 I'm not entirely sure, since they say 36-72 hours after the trigger, which was last Friday. So I'm guessing 6-8dpo, if I believe the OPK like my app did then it's 6.

@Tillybabs you've started! How did the scan go?

@Wilsonicus welcome! You're free to chat to us about it all, a few of us are going through/gone through/soon to go through IVF. Let us know how Thursday goes.

Juno231 · 20/09/2021 15:42

@thislittlebird oof that's a long TWW! I thought you were further ahead than that. Fingers crossed this week doesn't feel as long!

I'm CD8 and dying to get back into the TTC game. Doing my last two weeks at my old job and then hopefully we can maybe give it a shot next cycle.

Tillybabs · 20/09/2021 15:46

@thislittlebird so I have 6 follicles in one ovary and 8 in the other. I will be scanned again on Thursday.

Is that a good amount? I feel like it isn't

Do they collect eggs from both ovaries?

thislittlebird · 20/09/2021 19:43

@Tillybabs I think that’s pretty normal tbh, 14 is decent. They’ll get them from both if they can.

@Juno231 it’s very long, luckily I don’t feel too fussed. Like I’m conscious of it obviously but I’m not obsessing over it, just not feeling different on the drugs 🤷‍♀️. Having no symptoms probably helps because they’re usually what sucks me in.

dogmam · 21/09/2021 21:30

Update from me..
Unfortunately despite my BFPs it seems I am having a very early miscarriage (hate the term 'chemical pregnancy'). After my positive tests very slightly got darker, yesterday it didn't change, I went to the clinic for bloods and they finally got back to me this afternoon to say my hcg level is just 16. To me this isn't a viable pregnancy as levels should be way higher now yet they are making me go back in a weeks time for a repeat blood test. I have to continue on eastrogen and progesterone which I'm upset about as to be honest I just want this to end now and my period to come so that I can move on, but feel like it's cruel being kept in this limbo when we know what the outcome will be. That's not me being negative, I just knew as soon as we tested on 9dpt that it wasn't right and when my clinic told me congratulations it didn't feel right. Still getting positive tests but just going to stop testing and I guess wait until next week Sad

@dogmam oh hun I'm sorry to read this, I really hope that's not the case.

beckyCarlos · 21/09/2021 22:04

Oh @dogmam I'm so sorry. It must feel so counter intuitive to still be taking the hormones. Sending all my love x x x

thislittlebird · 21/09/2021 22:13

Ah no @dogmam I’m really sorry to hear this. I would hate taking the meds too, it’s hugely upsetting. Did the clinic say much else?
