Welcome to our little girl gang @Emmaldo14 I’m so sorry about your miscarriage, I can’t imagine how hard that must have been for you, especially at the stage you reached. I hope you’ve managed to have some time to heal 🥰

I’m guessing as you’re back to trying again you’ve had negative pregnancy tests now? I only ask cause I’m wondering if that could be making your OPKs go a bit mad if you still have HCG? I have no suggestions on how to improve your chances though I’m afraid, I think it’s just trial and error as to what works for you lovely

I am in a much better place now. If nothing else it has 100% confirmed to us how much we want this 🥰 Yes I have had negative pregnancy tests since 2.5 weeks after the miscarriage we checked before we started trying again. We started trying straight after the negative pt I had a positive opk about 3 weeks after the miscarriage then my first ‘proper’ period on 10th June. We are trying to be super chill about ttc but I am sooooooo not chill about it 😂 so either way whether I’m 2dpo or 8dpo I’m in ttw now (hopefully) unless I still haven’t ov and my body decides to try for a hatrick 🙄

SkeletonSkins · 29/06/2021 23:52

@Peachycream this is genuinely a concern for me 😂 we’re normally a once/twice a week type of couple, at most really, so even every other day feels a lot more. This is TMI but I’ve also noticed that my OH is taking a little erm longer to do the deed so to speak, and I’m not sure if that’s just because it’s more frequent or pressure has an element. I’m trying not to tell him when is important as I want to try and keep it feeling vaguely spontaneous. This is another reason I’m hoping I do ovulate in the next few days as otherwise it feels a bit like all the sex is wasted a bit 😂 and I’m not sure he’ll be able to keep it up for several weeks lol.

@Emmaldo14 welcome to the group, it really is so lovely and supportive. So sorry to hear about your miscarriage and have everything crossed for you this cycle. I’d say more likely the be 2 days post ov as possibly your body had a go but didn’t quite manage it so tried again a few days later. I think it would be unlikely to get a positive opk post ovulation but could be wrong!! Have you considered temping? I take my temperature each morning and it tells me when I’ve ovulated or not, as I can sometimes get multiple fertile spikes in a cycle (I have PCOS).

SkeletonSkins · 29/06/2021 23:54

Have you guys mentioned to anyone that you’re TTC? I wasn’t planning to, just my best friend knows, but it came out by accident to a group of friends today and I actually feel so much better for it. I’ve said it will take a while etc etc but it feels less of a big deal somehow now, like keeping it a secret was adding to the importance/pressure/stress. Also meant that another friend shared she is and another friend shared the difficulties she’d had, so it was actually a really lovely conversation.

Emmaldo14 · 30/06/2021 00:34

@SkeletonSkins yeah I totally agree far more likely to be 2dpo guessing my body tried to ovulate last week and didn’t. I completely agree with what you’re saying i have noticed this month (dtd 7 days out of 9) the days we dtd 3 days in row by day 3 it takes much longer for him to finish. We are not the sexiest of people at the best of times maybe once a week, sometimes once a fortnight normally 😂
He very much needs that emotional connection to enjoy sex and when you’re on like day 7 of 9 of dtd it’s really hard to find that everytime. We had a night of trying new positions or just ridiculous ones and honestly haven’t laughed so much in ages we are not cut out for that adventurous life 😂 did help us to relax though and feel connected.
I have considered temping and think I’m going to give it a go once this cycles over. Hopefully will give me a little more insight into what’s going on! How long has everyone been ttc?

Eli707 · 30/06/2021 05:34

@Emmaldo14 - so sorry about your loss. That must have been heartbreaking that far on. Hope you're ok and find this group helpful.

@Peachycream my OH and I have been together for 16 years so before all this sex was dwindling a little anyway. Not becoming a burden just yet which is good. I feel lucky tho because we laugh a lot at some of the ridiculousness of it all. Especially once we get about 4 days in and we're knackered. He does start complaining by the end that his little fella is getting a bit sore and definitely takes a bit longer to get there.

BFN again for me today so I think I'm out. AF due Friday I think - def not today, temp still high. Think I need to try something different as next will be cycle 5. Might give pre-seed a go (it'll give us a laugh at least!) and EPO since others seem to have had success with those and I don't seem to be getting much EWCM

Peachycream · 30/06/2021 05:46

Awh that’s cute @Eli707 I’m glad you’re both able to laugh about it though haha!

I do wonder if the length of time it can take is at all related to birth control? I mean, I’ve been on some sort of birth control for the best part of 15 years. That’s got to have some longer term effect on your body and hormone levels right? I mean they say that once you start your period it can take well into your late teens/early 20s for it all to settle down properly.

@SkeletonSkins never TMI in this group! 😂 were the same though, it just seems like it’s too much every other day for us. I’ve seen some people on here doing it every day until they get their BFP……..how?! I would be raw by then! 😂

OP posts:
Eli707 · 30/06/2021 07:18

@Peachycream definitely think it's going to have an impact. Had been on birth control for about 19 years until January this year. I'm not sure my body has properly sorted itself out yet 😵‍💫

SkeletonSkins · 30/06/2021 07:32

No totally agree every day would be a bit much for us! Not sure I’ll be saying that once I’ve got my peak, so keen for this baby!

Also @80sPadme I found the book ‘getting pregnant with pcos’ by Claire Goodwin really good for diet/supplement etc advice. I lost 2 stone earlier this year and made it back into the healthy zone by cutting my sugar down, increasing my protein and swapping carbs to brown carbs. I could do with losing a touch more really but I kind of lost my mojo. It’s also really interesting to look at the different types of hormonal imbalances that can affect ovulation.

SkeletonSkins · 30/06/2021 07:34

@CocoLady sorry to hear AF arrived, fingers crossed for the next cycle for you!

@Peachycream totally agree the hormonal contraception has a big impact. I was on it for 12 years and came off in January and definitely noticed my hormones go mad. It has helped the sex drive issue though 😂

@Eli707 sorry about your BFN, you’re not out till you’re out though so I’ve got my fingers crossed for you!

KayL1988 · 30/06/2021 07:43

Hello ladies! Sorry I still read this chat so will keep sneaking in occasionally!! I definitely think contraception has something to do with it!

My nurse said the official guidance is 3 months ish, but she said if I had a rough idea in my head then try to give it a year. She was right too in fairness because I tracked my cycles for a while and it took more than 3 months for my cycle to regulate... but maybe that was just me!

Peachycream · 30/06/2021 07:50

That’s my point though, it seems to take so long right? I mean yeah you see people who conceive within weeks of coming off of contraception but I do wonder how long they were on it for in the first place.

For someone like me who went on birth control in my early teens (I was told it would help bad cramps - it didn’t) my body surely has never known what a settled cycle is like, cause am I right in thinking that although you have bleeds they technically aren’t a period unless ovulation occurs right?

I mean they say it makes no difference but it must do? Why is women’s health so poorly misunderstood?

Are you on the pregnancy boards now @KayL1988 I’m getting really anxious about you all getting your BFPs and me being left here all on my ones, someone wait for me please 😂

OP posts:
Eli707 · 30/06/2021 08:02

I waited 8 long weeks for a bleed after coming off but settled into regular cycle straight away. Still think things are a bit off tho - very little EWCM and had an overwhelming hormone surge right before last AF which I haven't had since my teens - sobbed for about half an hour!

Ordered EPO and pre-seed this morning, just want to get AF out the way now.

@SkeletonSkins I've told one friend about TTC. Would probably tell others if they asked or it came up in conversation - think they'd be supportive. It's nice to have this group to be talk about things in far more detail tho where everyone's in the same boat

Sparklingwine1 · 30/06/2021 08:42

Morning all!

Just catching up

@Eli707 I have been tempted by the pre-seed lube. I've heard really good things about it.

@Peachycream with regards to keeping the romance alive, we make a big effort during fertile week. I've seen a lot of people on here say they don't tell their DPs that it's fertile week so they don't put pressure on them but actually for me I find it helps. I tell DH when my 'good week' is in advance, and then we look forward to that week and make a big effort... lots of early nights, nice undies etc. We can get so busy and tired from work that if I don't tell him when my good time is then we can often miss it through working late etc.

@Peachycream yes I wonder about those ladies from times gone by too! Did you watch Bridgerton? Even being seen together in that without a chaperone was scandalous!

@SkeletonSkins I have told my mum, best friend and sister. But that's because I was on mental health medication and I wanted to come off of it before TTC. So basically I told them because I wanted some people close to me to keep an eye on my mood, how I'm coping etc.

Sparklingwine1 · 30/06/2021 08:44

Welcome @Emmaldo14 so sorry to hear about your loss. Hopefully this group helps ❤️

HRP1990 · 30/06/2021 08:49

Wow lots of action this morning!

Welcome @Emmaldo14 so sorry to hear about your miscarriage ❤️ I hope we can all offer some kind of support on your journey.

I’ve told a few close friends @SkeletonSkins but like you, opened up to a group of friends at the weekend. It was eye opening really. 1 took 12 months, another 4 months.. sounds like it’s honestly pot luck! But nice to know we’re all in the same boat.

I’ve been off the pill about a year now as I knew we wanted to have kids and I wanted to let my body have the break. I didnt track anything until the past few months though, so I can’t tell how quickly my body regulated, but I’m pretty sure I’m free from all hormones now!

Sorry to hear about the BFN @Eli707 when is AF due? Let us know how you get on with the preseed!

HRP1990 · 30/06/2021 08:54

@Peachycream I feel you 😂 we’re basically on the same cycle give or take a few days! Don’t leave me haha

OnTheRoadNow · 30/06/2021 08:57

Morning all! I got my LH peak at 09:45 on Monday, so I’m pretty sure that means I ovulated yesterday (Tuesday).

However, thanks to a work trip, we were only able to DTD early on Monday morning, nothing since! I’m not going to see DH again until this evening.

So I’m guessing it’s going to be very unlikely this month?

OnTheRoadNow · 30/06/2021 08:58

That’s lovely @SkeletonSkins. I’ve told my best friend and also may have dropped a hint to my mum, but only in passing!

OnTheRoadNow · 30/06/2021 09:00

Sounds like there’s going to be a run on grapefruit juice in supermarkets next month then Grin

OnTheRoadNow · 30/06/2021 09:11

Not sure if this muddies the waters?!
🧙Witch day did I ovulate?!🧙
HRP1990 · 30/06/2021 09:19

I’d carry on using OPKs for a few more days @OnTheRoadNow just to make sure you don’t get another peak. (Last month my body tried, failed to ovulate and I ovulated a few days after that with a higher peak.) Do you temp? That’ll confirm ovulation

KayL1988 · 30/06/2021 09:19

I've joined one @Peachycream just so I can symptom check with people.... but miss you girls. You'll definitely not be left alone!! I have hope this is a lucky thread with lots of BFPs!

Someone I worked with studied biology and did his doctorate. He said one of his studies was about contraception and there were quite a few studies that shows when women come off long term contraception they are highly fertile for the first few weeks but then their fertility drops a bit whilst their cycle regulates. I don't know how accurate that was.... I think he told me after I said I thought the nurse was a cheeky mare for telling me to come off contraception!! So may have just been trying to make me feel better!

SkeletonSkins · 30/06/2021 09:55

@OnTheRoadNow I agree keep testing but I’d say that I’ve read actually DTD prior to ovulation can actually be better as the little guys are waiting ready for the egg, the sperm can last up to 5 days I think until ovulation so any DTD 5 days before ovulation and one day after can lead to a BFP! So you’re absolutely not out!

Aries491 · 30/06/2021 10:06

Morning!

Wow so much to catch up on today! Lots going on!

Welcome @Emmaldo14 so sorry to hear about your miscarriage, hopefully this group helps with support and anything else :)

I haven't told anyone @SkeletonSkins just my OH obviously, I dont want any external pressure where I can help it and would rather people didn't know :)
My friends know I came off the pill last year as I was getting sick of it so they're probably making their own assumptions haha!

@Eli707 sorry about the BFN, still got my fingers crossed for you if AF hasn't shown her face yet.

My AF ended yesterday evening by the looks of things so back to the grind 🤣🤣🤣 my OH wants to know when my good week is so we can make more effort but other than that he's just happy to DTD whenever! Gonna be following my apps this month for FW with more effort then aim for every 3 days throughout the rest of the cycle probably... Think ill be knackered!
