Tracking your cycle and possible BFP using RHR - part 6

Hi ladies,

This is for all of us with heart rate monitors who wish to help each other analyse the RHR patterns throughout our cycles.

Early research shows there's a correlation with increasing RHR and BFPs - so let's try and spot some together!

Hi all, happy nee year! How's everyone doing?
So thankfully I didn't get pregnant during covid. That would have been difficult.
So now is the cycle after covid. Unfortunately I ran out of OPKs during my fertile window and I could only go by CM. So we dtd CD10 and when I noticed EWCM yesterday on CD16. I just had OV cramps and temp rise, so I'm assuming I ovulated today on CD17. It must be somehow linked to my being sick and stressed, as I have never ovulated this late. Generally I ovulate on CD11-14.

Super curious to see what'll happen this cycle. 🤷🏻‍♀️

GlassLily · 08/01/2022 07:47

@MrTumblesEyebrows sorry for your losses. You must be so overwhelmed with grief. I can totally relate to feeling like the miscarriages have changed you, mine filled me with anger and jealousy, and of course misery - I could barely recognise myself after 3 early miscarriages in quick succession. I hope you can go easy on yourself and eventually begin to heal.

Did you have any luck last cycle in the end? I agree that 1dpo is early to get your hopes up, although for my successful pregnancy, mine went up from 4dpo. Also you're probably way ahead of me on this, but if you don't know the cause of your miscarriages, have you tried recurrent miscarriage things like low dose aspirin, pregnancy safe diet while ttc, progesterone pessaries - and also thyroid function investigation? Let me know if you need any info, I directed my rage into trying to aggressively solve the problem, which may not be a healthy way to deal with it, but I learnt some stuff along the way 😄

GlassLily · 08/01/2022 07:50

@LarasMama glad you are past the covid. Fingers crossed for this cycle for you! I ovulated super late (and was sick) the cycle I got pregnant with this little one - she's due in less than a month now! Maybe weird cycles are lucky cycles 🤞🤞

LarasMama · 08/01/2022 09:29

@GlassLily Thank you! Maybe you are right! When we conceived DD I thought I hadn't ovulated bc I didn't have my usual ovulation cramps.

Congratulations again! Did you find out the gender?

gezelligheid · 12/01/2022 15:08

We had our dating scan yesterday and we are 13 weeks 3 days :)

@gezelligheid ah fantastic! What a lovely announcement too!

I'm 9+2 today and will have my NIPT on Tues so should know the sex by the end of the month :)

RHR has been interesting so far! I think because I was ill in my TWW it went bananas high when I got pregnant. It since absolutely plummeted which worried me a bit as it happened at 5 weeks-ish and therefore way before the 7 week drop I've seen others have here. It did however stabilise to my normal LP range and has stayed ever since.

First pic shows ovulation day where the marker says 70bpm - the red dot shows when I got my BFP. Second pic just shows the big decline and then final pic is my current situation.

Hello 👋 hope its OK I jump on here, I'm new to this rhr stuff and not sure what to look for! Im due my period in 6 days and looking back at previous months, my rhr has started to drop around about this time. Does it look good or is it to early to tell? Not sure how much of an increase my rhr should be. I have cramps today so I'm not very hopeful but curious as to what others think. The lowest dip at the beginning was my last period. It hasnt been this high since the first month I got my fit bit.

Hello, just wanting to get some opinions.
I woke up at 3:30am for a wee (3rd morning in a row), and my temp was 36.61. I went back to sleep and woke up at 6am, and my temp was 36.91. Which one do I log?

The last two mornings when I woke up at 4, I forgot to temp. I couldn't get back to sleep so I took my temp and got up at 5, snd they were down around 36.6, give or take a couple of points.

Fingers crossed, or am I just grasping at straws and AF is on the way?

Gizzy93 · 13/01/2022 19:44

@Twirlyz22 looks good to me! Fingers crossed for you!

Twirlyz22 · 14/01/2022 15:59

@Gizzy93 thank you , my rhr dropped today so I'm out 😫

Gizzy93 · 15/01/2022 04:38

Huge increase in my rhr today. But I did wake up with gastro, so I'm not sure its a real increase

Hi everyone!!! I've not posted on here in such a long time...it's so lovely that so many of you are now pregnant!

So, 7 months after my miscarriage, I have finally JUST got a BFP (wahoo, tentatively!) The only thing is, my RHR is the same as it was when I ovulated...so it basically went from 69...DROPPED...then finally rose back up to 69. Last time I got pregnant it skyrocketed (it went from 63 to 72 when I got my BFP).

I don't know what to think and I'm not really getting my hopes up. I really didn't expect to have gotten pregnant this month. Has anyone experienced this when getting their BFP or is this really uncommon?!

I started taking thyroid hormone about a month ago so it could be that that is having an impact....I also tested positive for COVID yesterday hah! Gahh!! I'm currently 13 DPO.

Hey ladies, just looking for some insight into the difference in bpm between your ov temp and your peak temp. Usually for me, my peak RHR is about 4 to 6 points higher than my ovulation RHR. This cycle things have gone a bit crazy and my current RHR is 11 points higher (75bpm) than when I ovulated (64bpm). I don't think I'm pregnant, because I never am (cycle 19 😪) , but I'm just thinking maybe my body is reacting to my hormones differently this cycle. Any thoughts would be appreciated!

bfnancy · 23/01/2022 20:16

@unCliche that does sound like quite a big jump! So, apart from pregnancy, the only other time mine really jumped was when I was poorly and got my COVID booster all in the same month. Have you just had your booster or is there any chance your body is fighting an infection?

Hopefully though (and I understand if you've gotten to the point where you don't want to let yourself hope because the disappointment every month is so hard) this could totally be a sign of good BFP things to come...!

unCliche · 23/01/2022 21:22

@bfnancy unfortunately I won't be that lucky. No covid, no booster, only acupuncture. And my luteal phase is 10 days so let's see what happens over the next few days 😬 I'm starting to get a bit crampy so I'm not holding my breath.

bfnancy · 25/01/2022 19:23

How are you getting on @unCliche ? I'm guessing if you have a short luteal phase you might know either way by now??

unCliche · 26/01/2022 09:43

Hey @bfnancy. Thanks for checking in. As predicted, AF is coming. My BBT is still up but my RHR is on its way down. Plus I started spotting this morning. I may have ovulated CD16 so I'm probably not actually late. IUI next cycle so I have that to look forward to 😊

@unCliche I'm so sorry this wasn't the month for you, I know how horribly hard it is when you've been waiting such a long time :(

We've chatted on this thread before that some months it does feel like SOMETHING happened (or so it seems on your RHR chart) - like perhaps a little egg did get fertilised but it just didn't implant, hence the rise. Sending hugs x

GlassLily · 29/01/2022 05:08

@unCliche sorry to hear AF is here. I also have a 9-10 day LP. As @bfnancy said, it could be that implantation went wrong and the lil blastocyst didn't manage to stick properly. I think that is what happened for me - I had 3 CPs about a year ago.

My first cp I felt exactly like you - all the signs are there, but I can't possibly be pregnant - I even stopped taking some of my tablets because I thought they were causing my body to troll me.
When the same thing happened the following month, I tested and it was positive. Then followed by a mc the next day. All the symptoms were blow for blow what had happened the previous month.

I ended up on vitamin C, B complex, progesterone pessaries, all to try and give my body that little bit extra time for implantation. I'm now 9 months pregnant and about to pop!

Will you be taking progesterone as part of your IUI?

unCliche · 29/01/2022 13:30

@bfnancy Thanks lovely. I think the reason behind my high temps and RHR last cycle was because of acupuncture. My acupuncturists goal was to increase blood flow and warm up my body and I think she did so brilliantly! 😆😆

@GlassLily I don't think that is the case as I've never had a BFP. I even got a BFN at 10DPO. The only time I've come close to one was when I had a stupid evap back in April and that cycle I was given progesterone to try out but I started bleeding on it anyway.

It must have been horrible having confirmed back to back chemicals but I'm happy to hear that things finally worked out beautifully for you. Congrats on your upcoming journey into motherhood.

I'm doing a fully medicated IUI. I started on letrozole yesterday, then I'll trigger using ovitrelle then finally use progesterone pessaries x3 a day in my LP. I'm doing the IUI mainly for the medication as I think most of my issues are likely hormonal. The insemination itself will just be a boost to hopefully make it happen quicker! Let's hope it works! If not then IVF is a few months away 🙃

GlassLily · 30/01/2022 12:25

@unCliche ah ok. That all sounds promising for your IUI! good luck, hopefully that will do the trick 🙂

Mushrooms0up · 03/02/2022 20:46

Hi! I hope you don’t mind me joining - I was directed here from the main board.

I’ve just started tracking and my cycle started 1 Jan - 2 feb. Based on the attached, does it seem likely I ovulated on the 19th? (Just before second peak).

I initially thought it was the 14th (dip of 68) but that seems to early for a period on 2 feb?

Thanks!!

bfnancy · 08/02/2022 10:37

@Mushrooms0up sorry I forgot to reply to this, based on your chart I would have said it could have been either day, but I think based on the max length of your luteal phase (which I think can be 16 days at the very most) it does seem more likely you ovulated around the 19th.

I'm having a bit of a mare this week. I'm 6 weeks + 4 and I've just made it past the point that I miscarried in my last pregnancy, but my RHR has taken a huge dive. I still have some symptoms although they are not as strong as they have been in the last week. I know I probably need to take off my fitbit but I am just so worried about losing this pregnancy too.

Attaching my chart from fitbit - I will scrawl through the thread and see if it compares to any other's, but if anyone has similar experience please do let me know.

Mushrooms0up · 08/02/2022 10:47

@bfnancy thank you! I think that makes sense and as it’s my first cycle tracking I’ll keep an eye on it this month.

Best of luck with your pregnancy - no words of wisdom but keeping everything crossed for you

MrTumblesEyebrows · 08/02/2022 19:25

@kitty1993 @Juno231

Thanks for your replies. I don’t know if it was clear but I was joking when I said about RHR at 1dpo. I knew it was too early I just get fixated when TTC. My last two miscarriages were sharp RHR inclines jumping about 15bpm in 10 days. By pregnancy with my daughter was more gradual so it depends on the pregnancy I guess.

The following cycle didn’t result in a pregnancy so I took my watch off and stopped thinking about RHR. I also didn’t track anything and basically gave up all hope. Found out last week I’m pregnant. 5 weeks tomorrow 😊 I’m debating putting the watch back on but I’m not sure I want the stress.
