After a chilled garden soiree, it's time to shake things up and head to the cocktail club. Let's get into the spirit(s) - it's a whiskey business TTC so if you're feeling pretty fly grab a Mai Tai and have yourself some Sex on the Beach. Fingers crossed we get some BFP's and keep the Bloody Mary's away. Let the celebrations be-Gin!! Time flys when your having Rum!

Welcome to the 11th (!) post pill party thread for women who have recently come off the pill. Where we can all come and discuss the highs and lows of TTC.

@Kay00 just tested again and got a flashing smiley face after this morning it was low! Yay!

MissM94 · 25/05/2021 10:53

@Robyn101 oh how amazing 🥺 you have a lovely little story

MissM94 · 25/05/2021 10:56

@Kay00 this is what I'm saying! My friends only symptom was the odd long cycle & the doctor said to me she doesn't think it's PCOS as I don't have the typical symptoms but there must be something! I'm back there next week so hopefully she gives me a blood test.. how would you take it if it was PCOS?

Juno231 · 25/05/2021 11:15

@kay00 I wonder if it could mean PCO without the S? Hopefully it's something they can help you manage to make TTC happen without the need for IVF!

Kay00 · 25/05/2021 13:20

@Juno231 I think they diagnose PCOS if you have two of the following:

  • irregular periods – which means your ovaries do not regularly release eggs (ovulation)
  • excess androgen – high levels of "male" hormones in your body, which may cause physical signs such as excess facial or body hair
  • polycystic ovaries – your ovaries become enlarged and contain many fluid-filled sacs (follicles) that surround the eggs (but despite the name, you do not actually have cysts if you have PCOS)

I have the first, but maybe not the second. I suppose if they find polycystic ovaries when they do my scan then I will be classed as PCOS? There are other causes of high AMH levels though such as granulosa cell tumours... and I know which of the two I would prefer!

I had my letter through from the fertility clinic (which pre-dates these AMH results) and the consultant has said she will treat with Clomid if OH's SA comes back normal.

@MissM94 I was pretty upset when I got my results on Friday, as I was away from my OH visiting my family (for the first time in a year) and had no one to speak with about it! But I'm OK with it now, as a PCOS diagnosis, even if borderline, explains my random-ass ovulations (or lack of)! I am a little concerned about the pregnancy complications though:

  • High blood pressure
  • Pre-eclampsia (both my mum and sister had this in pregnancy)
  • Gestational diabetes
  • Miscarriage
Although i'm not overweight so hopefully the risks wouldn't be too high Confused
Juno231 · 25/05/2021 13:49

@kay00 at least knowing in advance that you're at risk would mean they'd be on top of monitoring for pre-eclampsia. Brilliant about the clomid! When is the next appointment?

MissM94 · 25/05/2021 14:01

@Kay00 I'm glad you're okay with it now, I was heartbroken when she mentioned it to me last week and in honestly praying that it's not that. I know people are okay with it and there is ways around it but I know my own mind and worries and thoughts, and I think it'll be hard on me mentally but will just have to cross that bridge when I come to it!

Kay00 · 25/05/2021 14:16

@MissM94 I totally get it, it's really not nice to think you might have a problem, especially a problem that might get in the way of the one thing we all really want... a baby! At least there are lots of treatments out there for PCOS and its symptoms (including infertility), so i'm hoping it won't be a big road block.

@Juno231 I have had the AMH blood test results back, but I am still waiting on the results for chlamydia antibodies and prolactin. If the Chlamydia is clear then I book in to get my HyCoSy on the first day of my next period. I'm only on CD9 so probably looking at a scan in late June/July depending on when ovulation decides to happen. In the mean time OH has his SA on 7th June, and if everything looks good then I hope to have my next meeting with the consultant in July(?) and hopefully I can start Clomid soon after.

Kay00 · 25/05/2021 14:19

So based on this I have at least 2 x full cycles (maybe 3) before I start on any Clomid (assuming all other tests come back OK!). I'm still hoping I get pregnant naturally before then of course!

MissM94 · 25/05/2021 14:19

@Kay00 I've been having a read of a few threads and I've seen so many say they've got pregnant after just one month on Clomid so I think there's definitely a way for everyone and I think the positive is to actually have a diagnosis for the problems rather than not knowing I guess! Positive manifesting my way through the next few weeks haha

Kay00 · 25/05/2021 14:48

@MissM94 yes, that's certainly one way of looking at it. I am also keeping it in perspective as my SIL has PCOS (with all the bad symptoms: excessive hair growth, obesity and almost non-existent ovulation) plus endometriosis, so she will need an operation and to loose about 5 stone in weight before she is considered for IVF. But her partner also has low sperm count! So they have been told IVF is there only hope for conception... she is very upset, as you can imagine!

Lovebug06 · 25/05/2021 14:54

Hi all,
Usually after AF comes I have a good cry for a day them I'm good.
Positive of it coming was that the vaccine didn't affect it, came when it should have and the right amount so thankful for that as I was worried.
However I've got a stream of scans and pregnancy photos on my social media and it's knocking me...
My friend announcing her accidental pregnancy after a few weeks with her now partner has really got to me too.
I feel so selfish. I don't know. I just feel like ITS SO UNFAIR. Mixed with me feeling like it's not going to happen without help for me now, the positivity is hard to have, feel like it's gone this month.
I'm actually okay, generally fine.. Just feel a bit drained by it all.
Being a right brat I know.
I'm sure there's going to be a family announcement anytime soon and I know it'll be talked about 24/7 and I think this is what's getting to me, absolute dread.
Anyway sorry for this but nobody else understands me. I need to let this out as I only usually feel bad when AF comes but I'm having a slight wobble.
Give me a shake girls!

Kay00 · 25/05/2021 15:13

@Lovebug06 huge hugs!! you are totally not being a brat. This is so difficult, and it it gets harder and harder with each passing cycle. and it DOES feel unfair!!

I was really worried about seeing my family, as it had been a year and I genuinely believed that when I saw them next I would be sharing some exciting news with them. Instead I had zero news, and just some snarky comment from my sister who looked at me with pity and said "isn't it awkward that all your friends are sharing pictures of their kids, but you're sharing pictures of your dogs?" Sad She's such a bitch.

Lovebug06 · 25/05/2021 15:40

@Kay00 omg that is horrible of your sister! What's bitch.
Does she know your TTC? If she does that is bloody awful.
Massive hugs to you.

Charliecircle11 · 25/05/2021 15:52

@Kay00 I would just do all you can to pretend and put a smile on your face. Show them you are really happy and it doesn’t bother you. They won’t make any comment again. Sending you lots of hugs

Kay00 · 25/05/2021 15:52

@Lovebug06 no, she has no idea that i'm trying for a baby. Although she seems to say hurtful things fairly regularly (like saying how she would never had a child now at her age as shes far too old ... even though shes 3 years younger than me?!). Maybe she always said these things, but i'm more sensitive now? Either way, she had always been a bit of a bitch Grin haha!

MissM94 · 25/05/2021 18:50

@Kay00 god, I'm so sorry for her.. it definitely puts things into perspective for sure!

MissM94 · 25/05/2021 18:52

@Kay00 what the hell that's a horrendous comment off your sister! How are people so openly cruel 😩

Charliecircle11 · 25/05/2021 19:49

@Kay00 she is obviously insecure about something and projecting it on you. Just keep smiling and be the bigger person 🥰

Kay00 · 25/05/2021 21:02

Thanks ladies. I think you probably hit the nail on the head there @charliecircle11 she's pretty self centered so it's probably got nothing to do with me really!

Charliecircle11 · 25/05/2021 21:17

@Kay00 I tend to kill people like that with kindness 😆 so sorry that your sister isn’t more supportive. The one thing I have learnt in my 33 years is that it isn’t just as simple as “but they are family!”

Kat668 · 25/05/2021 22:22

@Lovebug06 I'm so sorry you're feeling down love ♥️ bug squeezy hugs! It really is unfair when people who so desperately want it and try for ages don't get pregnant then people do by accident! So you're not wrong to feel that way. We're all here for you whenever you need to talk.

@Kay00 oh man that's such an insensitive thing to say! Even if you don't know someone's TTC you still shouldn't say that. Hope you're OK ♥️

Kat668 · 25/05/2021 23:14

Weird question but has anyone experienced really bad continual hiccups since coming off the pill or at certain stages of their cycle? The last week or so I've had hiccups so many times!

Charliecircle11 · 26/05/2021 07:38

@Kat668 I had them last week for about an hour and couldn’t stop them. Mine sound like a peacock as well, so bad 😜 but other than that no. What a weird symptom if it is pill related.

So I think I am on my first TWW cycle 1. Flashy smiley face on CB yesterday and DTD. Hoping for a peak today and do the DTD tonight and tomorrow. No idea when my period is due though as only just stopped the pill and finished my withdrawal bleed. When do I test? Two weeks after ovulation?

Charliecircle11 · 26/05/2021 07:51

Also sorry, I have a hen party on the 5th June for the weekend. How do I not drink to excess? There is only 6 of us due to Covid and no one to hide behind! Haven’t been drinking recently and don’t want to go mad!
