@notyetamumbuttrying yes you would have thought they could have told you they weren't expecting you to be ready til 14 days! I can imagine the stress, not nice. So hopefully just a few more days to go and you're there! Well done on getting through the injections, that sounds very unpleasant.

I totally get you on the walking. I think it's because it's all we've been able to do for so long! Gentle exercise sounds good though.

Leaving him to it, he's sleeping atm. Think clinic opens at 8am so will wake him in a minute

thislittlebird · 27/05/2021 07:48

@ElsieG3m you mentioned your skepticism at the consultation this week or last week?

@ElsieG3m @Marvellouslymadmum I think the hair comment is about body and facial hair. Doctors are probably looking for any signs of hormonal imbalance and I guess an easy check for them is physical traits like small testicles, no ability to grow a beard and so on. I think baldness of the head is actually caused by testosterone so I don’t think that’s an issue they look for. Obviously lots of low on hair men have no issues so I guess it’s just something they look for to decide what tests to do.

It’s only a small varicocele so might be nothing @Marvellouslymadmum but at least he’s checking it out. He kept saying that comment which made me laugh, you don’t expect it! It makes no sense to me that I haven’t been put on progesterone, as I’ve said. It’s just very bizarre to say I have a problem and then send me away.

Good that your oh is trying hard now, I wish mine would get on the fitness thing but he’s changing jobs soon with better hours so he will hopefully get started then.

A very good way of spending your theoretical lottery money!

I must do some exercise and cook some low calorie food. This week has been a bit of a mess so far, I don’t feel organised.

thislittlebird · 27/05/2021 07:56

@notyetamumbuttrying yeah same, so very tired of doing the same walks round here. I’m over it.

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 I try to buy organic meat and milk, but veg is hard to do. I don’t eat much meat anyway, and it’s mostly veg we buy, adds up fast. Also trying hard to buy much less plastic packaging products.

If he has no history of poor sperm results his sperm might be fine, probably too soon for his drinking to change much?

Morning all!

I cannot recommend macro tracking enough for weight loss. It’s much, much healthier than any excessively low cal diet club thingies and better for ttc as you get nutrients (it tracks salt/vit c etc). I use My Fitness Pal and set my carbs/fat/protein (you can Google “macro calculator” and fill it in as everyone different). Mine are 130g carbs/50g fat/130 protein and it also works out your calories so easy to get started. If you focus on protein you will never be hungry. I’m pescatarian so the protein is harder but I have two protein shakes a day (I use clean lean which is DELICIOUS)white fish/ tofu/quorn/other meat subs. I’m from a weightlifting background and I’d really urge anyone trying to lose fat to focus weights as much as cardio in the gym. You’ll get leaner faster and please, don’t starve. You should be hungry before meals - that’s okay - but not all the time.

And all this “eliminate entire food groups” crap is nonsense - and you’ll just want it more if you cut it out completely. I still have a square or two of chocolate in the evening. It’s just about moderation and mixing it up - I have a little cheese, and only use plant mylks (milk grosses me out a bit tbh...it’s baby cow tit juice!). No sugars alpro almond is best for low cal and protein. I always have a small bowl of porridge last thing at night as I have a ridiculous metabolism and am perma-hungry. You can get sugar free flavour drops from MyProtein in loads of flavours to make things like yoghurt/porridge yummy.

X

@notyetamumbuttrying Your description of the needles fills me with dread!! I’m bad enough with just a blood test or having the vaccine. Can’t imagine sticking a thick needle into myself 🙈

ElsieG3m · 27/05/2021 08:16

@thislittlebird oh sorry - she just didn't seem concerned at all and wasn't suggesting any follow-ups whatsoever - I was prompting her on everything. I guess that's partly why I didn't go for a private only place as I didn't want the hard/unnecessary sell but I do want all the information up front so we can make informed decisions - I don't want to leave it to chance to find out there's a problem when age factors are even more problematic. But then if I'm worrying all the time am I actually creating the situation I'm afraid of??!!

Is anyone on anti anxiety or depression meds and if so have any concerns about safety for babies which you've talked through with a doctor? I've been dead against them but maybe they're more what I need right now 😬

Loladoodle · 27/05/2021 08:22

Congratulations @GuessHowMuch 🎉 that’s great to see your bfp on two other tests! 🙏 all goes well in your pregnancy ☺️

ElsieG3m · 27/05/2021 08:28

@notyetamumbuttrying I hear you on the early testing. It brings so much false hope and heartache. Part of me is impatient, but the other reason is I have to inject heparin from the very first point of a positive pregnancy test due to clotting factors 😬

notyetamumbuttrying · 27/05/2021 08:29

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 yeah few more days of more injections and then hopefully the trigger injection which will be the last one to do before egg collection!
I need to stick a dvd workout on really. Perhaps on the bh Monday as we have no plans.
Did he call up?
@thislittlebird extremely boring right! Doesn't inspire me to move, need to dig out the old exercise dvds!
@Misty84 sorry hun, it's not that bad really and you might be on a different drugs to me. They give you different needles per drug. Hopefully you'll be on short protocol as well so that's less injecting. I've had 12 days on down regs drugs and now at least 12 days on stimming drugs, maybe longer, who knows at mo! If the end result is multiple embryos and a successful transfer then all will be worth it! Ivf is august for you right?!

notyetamumbuttrying · 27/05/2021 08:30

@ElsieG3m oh I see! Defo worth an early test then xx

Bundaberg84 · 27/05/2021 08:33

@thislittlebird there are tons of sites out there that help you with it, but it's very simple to follow. You don't eat for a certain time frame, I normally do 15 hours, sometimes I do more. For me it's easiest to stop eating around 21h and start again at lunch next day. You're allowed coffee and tee and water of course, just nothing with calories in it (no sugar or sweetener). Another friend of mine does it differently and skips dinner but has breakfast. That's not for me though, everyone is different. But I never really liked breakfast either way. I follow this probably 5 days a week, sometimes 7.
They say it improves your health not just with losing or maintaining weight, but it's also reducing inflammation. And also you automatically drink more water, which is of course a really nice side effect. I think this is the main reason I almost never have any migraines anymore.

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 27/05/2021 08:41

@Geriatric1234 thank you for the tips, I do need more consistency in planning my diet. Have been bad with sugar treats recently - a little cake a day! With you on the milk grossing you out, it makes me gag, I've never been able to have it in coffee, cereal whatever.

@thislittlebird think your private appointments have been inspiring to hear about, just no nonsense, quick, people proactively trying to help. Really positive.

@notyetamumbuttrying you're awesome for doing all of that and being so stoic about the discomfort, nausea, pain etc. Will def be worth it.

@ElsieG3m I don't know about anti anxiety sorry, but if you're feeling stressed, maybe it could be a good thing to go see your dr about

He has cancelled his SA, it'll have to be in a months time

ElsieG3m · 27/05/2021 08:52

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 so sorry to hear that and so frustrating for you. I hope he has some good making up ideas! Xx

KatRee · 27/05/2021 08:57

@ElsieG3m I think I'm due in tomorrow and I can really feel it coming 😩
I was on Sertraline for just over a year prescribed for depression triggered by anxiety and I think that's the one doctors usually recommend when ttc

thislittlebird · 27/05/2021 08:57

@Misty84 I’m really squeamish, I think I’ll have to get DH to do it for me, I can’t see myself coping 😩

ElsieG3m · 27/05/2021 09:04

@KatRee really sorry honey, me too. Can feel that watery feeling. No more tests for me now, just have to start looking forward to next month. I'm going on hols during the tww next month so maybe that will take my mind off things.

I think I'll contact my docs in London too and get some advice on private fertility treatment/where to go. Might book in to the lister xx

thislittlebird · 27/05/2021 09:26

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 I guess the proof is in the outcome but they’re good so far and I’m hoping it will be worth the expense. I’m sure plenty of nhs consultants are amazing but getting to them is an uphill struggle.

thislittlebird · 27/05/2021 09:27

Will read and respond to all the diet and fitness comments later, need to get to a zoom call 🥴

Noodella18 · 27/05/2021 09:52

@elsieg3m I've been on sertraline 50mg for three years, through conception pregnancy and breastfeeding. Wish i had done it a decade ago. There is a slightly increased risk of pulmonary issues, which means you have to stay in hospital for 24 hours after the birth for monitoring, but the absolute risk is still tiny and we didn't have any issues. The gp I spoke to said that the risk of uncontrolled cortisol affecting the developing brain is far greater than the tiny risks associated with ssris. I was having panic attacks pre-sertraline and I do think that it would have been terrible for the baby.

Misty84 · 27/05/2021 12:50

@notyetamumbuttrying Yes we don’t know the full details yet but she said I’ll be on a short protocol which sounds good to me haha!
@thislittlebird I expect I will be getting OH to do as many as possible for me!! 🥴 Although maybe this will be the thing that finally helps me conquer my fear of needles?! 🤞

notyetamumbuttrying · 27/05/2021 13:10

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 thank you 😊 hopefully be worth it yes!
Let's hope he sticks to the next appointment then! Bet he's feeling more than just a sore head today!
@Misty84 short is defo good! 👍🏾you'll definitely conquer your fear, you honestly get used to them. I feel like an anaesthetist when I flick the needle to check for air bubbles 😂

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 27/05/2021 14:13

@notyetamumbuttrying I had acupuncture this morning so I'm feeling very zen luckily for him

Anyone got nice weekend plans?

notyetamumbuttrying · 27/05/2021 14:48

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 haha 😂 indeed! 😏
So second scan Saturday and then lunch with my sister. Sunday we're at the new house we reserved last week to pick the flooring and tiles! Can't wait 😛 then out for another meal Sunday night 😅 meal city basically lol! How about you?

AnxiousWannabe · 27/05/2021 15:52

How does everyone here feel about the covid vaccine? Say if you have a bfp - would u take the vaccine ?

KatRee · 27/05/2021 16:02

Back to CD1 again for me 😩
Re covid vaccine- I was intending to book for as close to cd1 as possible as don't. But due to get HyCoSy and scan on Thursday, and was slightly concerned that if it interferes with the current cycles in any way that would affect what they observe, so am now planning to wait until next CD1. Do you think I 'm being ridiculous? I think current advice is it's completely fine when ttc? What made me think was when we had our fertility consultation OH had his and the consultant was asking and writing down lots of info like when he had it. Made me think they do think it might affect observations. I think in the unlikely event this cycle results in bfp I would seek advice from my gp @AnxiousWannabe
