@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 still waiting for the Lister to call me back but we do have a urologist appointment booked for late May.

I called up another surgery nearby and asked how to register, am so furious at how that other surgery continues to treat me (and others I’m sure). I don’t understand the GPs still doing this triage thing tbh, it’s gone on for too long, but the surgery I’m eyeballing at least has an online option for you to fill in. Can’t get past the horrible receptionist at my current place.

I just...the cost is hard to stomach. Having to pay for my AFC and AMH again will probably be another £300 and then the urologist is (including tests and appointment) £900...I want to be putting this money into my IVF pot, you know? Ugh. I know the urologist is investment really, it might save us failed cycles/transfers.

Cannot stand birthday parties. We looked at a spa nearish to us and then I said no, can’t justify the cost with the ivf fund 😭. We’ll have to find one somewhere that’s better value, a bit further out. Might go somewhere in Kent for the day (outdoors) but the weather looks bad, which is a shame, it’s normally decent in late May.

ImpatientTTCer · 13/05/2021 10:05

@thislittlebird I’m so sorry that you’re having more problems with them! I would definitely look at changing surgeries, if that’s a possibility for you. Or maybe looking into an online GP service like Babylon? I’ve heard good things about them generally, but not sure if they’d be able to help much with specialist stuff.

I had an absolutely horrific experience with a locum doctor at my GP surgery a couple of years back. I wish I’d made a formal complaint but at the time I was just going through too much and couldn’t face having to do that on top of everything else. But I now know all too well the difference a good/bad manner can make to a situation. I refused to see that doctor again, and now he’s left (thankfully).

Good luck, try and stay stubbornly strong with it! Not easy though, I know :(

Marvellouslymadmum · 13/05/2021 10:37

@Noodella18 was that the vitox brand? I had those but had no idea if they were doing anything so was going to buy one of the more expensive definitely real brands this month!

@thislittlebird that's really good to hear, I think we all have what we want in our mind and don't want to shift from that but in the end we may have to if we can't get what we want any other way

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 it's so annoying when the docs just aren't helpful!! I'm ok thank you just waiting waiting for my fw to start and going to replace all the vits I've run out if today (gulp, bye bye money)

@thislittlebird that really is awful I'd definitely change surgeries if I were you! Hopefully they'll be a lot more helpful!! There's some lovely spas in Kent, have a look at eastwell manor, it's not the cheapest but they do some nice packages there and it's beautiful!

@Marvellouslymadmum that's exactly how it feels when there's another supplement run needed 🤣 With lockdown I haven't spent much on clothes, trips away, going out etc, so this is obviously now my treat stuff - boo

@thislittlebird hopefully as your AMH tests were fairly recent, they'll be okay to re-use them. I know what you mean, the amounts are huge. But try not to think of them, or it'll put more pressure and stress on you. It's worth it, and hopefully you've saved not commuting to work so much, not having holidays, not being able to go out etc in the last year. That's how I'm looking at it anyway, I've been fortunate with the pandemic not to have been financially affected, and in fact to have saved some money. Something lovely for you and your partner to relax and enjoy might be money well spent at this point!

MgW1 · 13/05/2021 12:25

@Marvellouslymadmum
Did you get your smear done ? Mine wasnt that bad , hopefully will get results in 2 weeks.

Misty84 · 13/05/2021 12:26

@thislittlebird I’ve heard good things about Alison Taylor. She was one of the three I shortlisted, I was given Jaya Parikh as she was free for the time slot I requested. So she just talked through my patient history sheet and said that because of my low Amh they wouldn’t use drugs that are too strong. Which suits me!! She said that usually with this amh there are only a few follicles but I have 10 which is more encouraging. I have the amh of a 45yr old 😭. And when I said I wanted to have IVF in August she said to contact the nurse at the end of June to start the process.
She also talked me through what supplements to take. And she stressed the importance of a healthy lifestyle.
I’m 37 in a few weeks so will look into Access, have only briefly done so. Gosh yes sounds like Care were absolute jokers!!

Yes the BPA stuff is fascinating!! I’ve replaced so much! Just had no idea. And like @A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 I’m much more conscious of the effects of heat and liquids etc on plastic. So pleased not just to have made the changes for TTC, but general health.

Misty84 · 13/05/2021 12:32

If I’m honest I just don’t think IVF is going to work for me. I know that’s a pessimistic view but that’s how I truly feel. The NHS don’t think it will work. I think it’s either going to miraculously happen naturally one day or I’ll move onto having an egg donor (obviously that’s a big decision). But I’m going to try this IVF round just to know for sure. If they only manage to collect a few eggs from the follicles then there’s really no better odds than trying naturally. And we can’t afford multiple attempts.

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 13/05/2021 12:42

@Misty84 all of these supplements and lifestyle changes can change things by the time your ivf comes around, you said yourself your consultant was positive, and you've more follicles than expected. The NHS is pretty rubbish with fertility, I wouldn't put store in what they think. I honestly think they draw their guidelines mostly to minimise the number of people who can access fertility help. Plus a place like Lister is going to properly tailor things to you, to get maximum success. I'm hopeful for you.

Marvellouslymadmum · 13/05/2021 15:34

@MgW1 it's booked on Tuesday 18th right before predicted ovulation! Which is good BUT oh has his SA booked on Thursday 20th and they've told him to abstain for three days before 😣 at the moment my apps are predicting ov on 19th-22nd I'm really hoping for 22nd! That way we can dtd after smear and sa but hopefully not miss peak 🤞🏻 knowing my luck I'll ov 18/19th so we will miss it 🙄

@Misty84 with 10 follicles you definitely have a good chance of getting a decent number of eggs! Just one little good one will do

Ladies, sorry to butt in on ongoing conversations...

Can someone look at the bbt chart and tell me if it looks ok and what my ovulation day is? Is it may 11th or 12th?

Sorry again... I know some of the conversations happening are way more serious than my worry.

VixFromThe6ix · 13/05/2021 15:59

@Misty84 hey hon, why do you think IVF won't work for you? This is our next step if we don't miraculously get pregnant on our own. We are on the wait list... I haven't considered that it might not work, but I don't know much about it tbh...

Misty84 · 13/05/2021 16:05

Thank you @A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 and @Marvellouslymadmum 🙏

@VixFromThe6ix With very low amh not predicted to respond well to IVF hence why the NHS won’t fund it.

VixFromThe6ix · 13/05/2021 16:11

@Misty84 oh ok... I had no idea what amh is but just looked it up.
Saw this: "If you have very low AMH levels, you are likely to respond poorly to the drug doses involved in conventional IVF. However, Natural IVF and Modified Natural IVF can be more a more suitable treatment for those with low ovarian reserve."

I'm guessing this "natural IVF" and "modified natural IVF" are paid options?

MgW1 · 13/05/2021 16:30

@VixFromThe6ix
Hi
Id say 11th may? X

Misty84 · 13/05/2021 16:32

I appreciate the effort @VixFromThe6ix but believe me, there’s nothing you can Google that I haven’t read already!🤪 All I’ve done since finding out in March is research low amh!🙃
Success rates for natural ivf are much lower (and as one doctor said “There’s nothing natural about ivf!”) it’s just less drugs which the Lister will try with me anyway. With 10 follicles it’s worth me trying. It’s not impossible I’m just finding it hard to have faith at the moment! And still shell shocked that at 36 I have the reserves of a 45yr old.

VixFromThe6ix · 13/05/2021 16:33

@MgW1 thank you!! So 2dpo then 😅 glad the bbt thing is kind of confirming ovulation as it is rising. I was actually worried for a second

MgW1 · 13/05/2021 16:46

@VixFromThe6ix
I think im 3dpo but going to dtd again.tonight because started with ewcm and cramps so dont know whats going on x

VixFromThe6ix · 13/05/2021 16:50

@MgW1 it's annoying not to know for sure. I had some slimy cm yesterday and I was kind of confused... I typically don't have cm after ovulation. Or maybe I haven't been paying attention.
Why it's crucial for me to know when ovulation is cause of progesterone, I'd I take it too early I'm ruining ovulation, if I take it too late my uterus starts shedding early and no egg can hang on.
Kinda tired of all this if I'm honest... Lol this tracking of everything every day is exhausting.
I hope you're my dpo buddy this cycle...always helps to have someone on similar timeline to compare notes with.

MgW1 · 13/05/2021 17:03

@VixFromThe6ix
Im ya buddy , we will get through this!!!
I dont speak to my doc til 10th june so maybe they might prescribe me with some progesterone

got2be · 13/05/2021 17:04

@VixFromThe6ix @MgW1 3dpo here too cramps and watery cm and high temp 36.9
Fingers crossed there good signs for us xx

VixFromThe6ix · 13/05/2021 17:08

@got2be @MgW1 fingers crossed for us, girls!!

Next week I got an appointment with my endocrinologist, hopefully she can tell me I don't need to take bromocriptine anymore for hightened prolactin. 🤞

got2be · 13/05/2021 17:19

@VixFromThe6ix yes hopefully it’s good to come off meds.. my endocrinologist took me off mines too was on them for hyperthyroidism
I have an appointment next week too but with gynaecologist hopefully they’ll give me progesterone/aspirin but also going to ask about super ovulation

VixFromThe6ix · 13/05/2021 17:27

@got2be I know I hate taking meds lol

What is super ovulation??

got2be · 13/05/2021 17:37

@VixFromThe6ix it’s when they give you clomid even though you ovulate already. Supposed to give so you ov more eggs for the lil swimmers to choose from lol
Tbh I’ve only read on net not sure if it’s a real thing yet. But will definitely be asking

VixFromThe6ix · 13/05/2021 17:42

@got2be oh now I'm a bit curious!!! Not heard of it before...wonder if I should ask about it
Let me know what your doctor says, please?
