Hi ladies Has anyone tried the sperm meets egg plan? I downloaded the free ebook earlier on amazon & Im going to give it a go this coming month! Anyone want to join? 💁🏻‍♀️ I'm month 4 ttc.

What is the sperm meets egg plan? I'm intrigued!

Hi @charja100 it's basically a method of timing sex to ensure sperm meets egg. In a 27-31 day cycle it is as follows...... start on cycle day 8 having sex every second evening, so day 8,10,12 etc.....start using opks on day 10. When you get a positive on opk have sex 3 days in a row, then 1 day off, then one more day of sex for luck. Iv seen a lot of threads people getting pregnant first cycle doing it etc. It's never a guarantee but I'm going to try it. Join me! 😂😂😂 If your cycle is shorter or longer it's slightly different, it's all in that free ebook which is well worth the read. I found it quite interesting

@spttc I will jump on this bus! I think I am kind of doing that this month without trying to or meaning to. This is my first month TTC#1 but as I'm 36 I'm wanted to jump straight into understanding my cycle.

My cycles used to be 26/27 days but this cycle it seems that I'm having one of my 30/31 day cycles again. (Might be because I'm using pregnacare conception)

I started testing using OPKs on day 8. We have BD on day 7,9,11,13,15 I have two apps which both said ovulation was due on day 13, and day 14 but I still haven't had my positive opk! I'm now on day 18 😕 and wondering if it's due or I'm having an anovulatory cycle this month.

I'm going to keep peeing on opks (been doing it twice a day the last 4/5 days) if I get my surge I'm def going to do try this and I'm going to give the book a read too! 😀

@charja100 I'm just turned 35. TTC #1 so I hear you! I'm on my 3rd month 11dpo. But negative tests so far so preparing for cycle 4. Iv tried every other day and everyday but maybe too targeted to when I think I'm ovulating. I think this plan will encourage me to extend the window of trying. Which I know is a common mistake loads of women (including myself) make. Fingers crossed and baby dust to you too ✨✨

@spttc we are definitely online same bus then. Fingers crossed for the rest of your TWW, there's still some time left so you never know! Are you using OPK's or recording your BBT to help pinpoint when you ovulate?

@charja100 yeh I got the easy@home opk tests from amazon that go with the premom app. It reads them for you. Although I think you can use any test strips with it. I put a screen shot of that below. If you Havnt had a positive I would keep testing. Sometimes the surge can be so quick you could miss it between tests! The premom app is great as it prompts you to test and gives you guidance etc. I am doing bbt aswell and charting it. I really only use that to confirm i ovulated. The opks and the temp rise on my chart matched so I think I did ovulate and dtd at the correct time- if only it was that simple. Especially as we aren't in our 20s 🙈🙄 My temp hasn't dropped below cover like yet but it didn't last month until the day of my period. Expecting that tomorrow 🙄🙄🙄🙄

@charja100 just seeing you said you're on day 18. My surge wasn't until day 17. I have a 29-31 day cycle. You're definately still in the game I'd keep testing.

@spttc I'm doing the fermometer OPKs and their app. I'm also using Flo as I used to use it as my period tracker, I've just flipped the focus in settings from monitoring my period to trying to conceive.

Actually today it looks like my LH surge is coming (yay). Which is so typical as my DH is going away today until Sunday for work. We did BD again today and will BD on Sunday as soon as he gets back, it's just so typical! He changed his work plans from last week as that's when the app said i was due to ovulate and I'm ovulating a week late! I'm also tracking my BBT and I've had no spikes so just keeping on.

It sounds like you've done everything right this month you could still get a BFP. I'm thinking positive for you.

@spttc just got my surge! Do I am it def ovulating a week later than my apps predicted but this evening I've finally hit my peak! The line was so strong the control line looked so feint! Can't show pics yet unfortunately as I'm new to Mumsnet.

It's quite frustrating tbh as my DH went away for work today until Sunday so we can't BD tomorrow, which has left me a bit disappointed😔. But we have BD today before he went WY(CD17). Also we did BD on CD15 and CD13 and I will pounce on him as soon he gets home on Sunday morning too 🤣

It's so frustrating the timing of him being away. But I am trying to be positive and I'm grateful we aren't out for this month yet though 🤞🏼

@charja100 🥳🥳🥳🥳 yay!!! you definately aren't out as you can ovulate anywhere from 12-48 hours after your surge. Then the egg lives another 12 hours after that. So that's 2.5 days from the surge at least you have! So you might actually hit the exact right time when he's home & you'll have given his supply time to restock 😅😂 As soon as he's in the door get to it 💁🏻‍♀️😂 I'm 99% sure I'm out this month. Big temp drop this morning 🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄 on to the next!

We did the SMEP for the first time this month after trying unsuccessfully for 9 months. Last night I got my bfp so I really believe it works! Best of luck to you all xx

@spttc thanks so much! Yes we pretty much stuck to it but have to say it was hard going. 🥵 Dtd on day 8 and started testing on day 10. Dtd every other day until the day before my peak (as I usually ovulate earlier in my cycle and was worried I’d missed it). I then dtd the next 2 nights as well, had a (well needed) night off and then dtd again. The only other thing I did different this month was a weekly session of acupuncture. Not sure which I have to attribute the success to most, but I’m convinced both helped me get the bfp. Hubby is just so pleased he gets to have a rest this month! It’s not for the faint hearted but I was starting to get desperate. It did feel quite perfunctory after a while and I was worried hubby would get ‘performance’ issues as it’s so intense and pressured. But thankfully he powered through. Other months when we didn’t do SMEP, I thought we’d DTD enough but clearly we hadn’t! Really hope it works for you ladies too! Xx

@Rockape1992 that's amazing congratulations on your BFP ✨🎉 thanks for sharing! I know what you mean about DTD feeling a bit much. We have DTD every other day since CD 9 as I thought I was going to ovulate a week earlier than I have. I know my OH will start to get fatigue if I execute him to keep this up every month! 🤣

@spttc thank you! Fingers crossed! Pleased to still be in the race but dreading the TWW. My basal temp rose this morning so I may have actually ovulated yesterday (thinking last night) I'm going to pounce on him again anyway just to make sure.

You're not out until AF comes so I'm sending you positive vibes. What does BBT temp drop indicate? I didn't realise it could indicate AF coming?

Thanks @Rockape1992 for the info! Delighted for you! I'm definitely guilty if not enough DTD. And of stopping too early I think. Too focused on opks. I'm going to give it my all this month. The plan has focused my mind I think 😅🙈 I'm determined. @charja100 yes as progesterone drops closer to af temp drops also. It's not an absolute definate. But I'm prepared for cycle 4 mentally!

@spttc how are you feeling? Any more news. My LH tests said I was still surging yesterday morning and were still high last night. Have dropped this morning but still there. I jumped on my OH when he got in! So pleased we've kept up the DTD. Now is a waiting game for me I suppose. Still not 💯 sure when I have ovulated. I am BBT and I did see a rose yesterday morning and temp remained the same today. So I'm thinking I probably ovulated yesterday what do you think? This is all still so new to me every days a school day.

With a temp rise yesterday morning & LH surge still there I'd say you've ovulated. If it stays up for 3 days it's confirmed as far as I know. Id say today's DTD was definitely worthwhile as ovulation can be delayed etc! Fingers and toes crossed 🤞 I think you have a great chance. I'm so motivated this month I've warned my husband to prepare himself 😂😂😂😂😂😂 I'm just so ready.

@charja100 I'd probably do it tomorrow aswell for good measure 😂 Honestly that's my strategy this month. The more the better!

🤞🏼 this month has not gone how I expected at all but we have managed to DTD every other day which has been good and somehow it's ended up kind of to what we needed. I'll try and get him in the mood again tomorrow but I'm worried if I pressure him too much this month he'll back off next month!

I'm 32 trying for baby 1 on my second cycle and truly clueless!

Just a few questions - so cycle day 1 is the first day your period starts I'm guessing? That means my cycle date 8 will be 4th May!

I'm going to start using OPKs this month - I've brought the clear view fertility monitor with the smiley faces - will a positive opk mean a flashing smiley face or the full on smiley face?

Hi @Elsbeth1 👋👋 yep I'm in the same boat. Trying everything 😂 This is my 4th cycle I'm about to start. yeh cycle day 1 is first day of period. So with the clearblue digital the static smiley after the flashing ones is your positive opk. I know this because I did both last cycle because I wanted to know 😅 I had strips and the clear blue digital so I could make sure. So when you get the static smiley you go 3 nights in a row, one night off, 1 more time. We've got this!! 🙌🙌🙌😂
