@Marvellouslymadmum I tried grapefruit juice this cycle, but didn't seem to do anything for me, though I've seen threads with women raving about what it did for them. I did try EPO last cycle and thought maybe it did help slightly, but then had quite delayed ovulation which I thought it might have contributed to. Hard to say if it was the EPO though as I did just start knocking back all the supplements under the sun in one go! Was also on pregnacare then, which lengthens lots of people's cycles and I've stopped that now, so thinking of giving EPO another go next cycle. It's all trial and error this tic malarkey isn't it? Confused

thislittlebird · 23/04/2021 20:58

@Marvellouslymadmum I’ve been listening to lots of podcasts etc about male fertility, sperm count and so on (been discussing it a lot on another thread) and the doctor made me more optimistic there’s still a chance I suppose. So I thought we should try some of this stuff, see if it helps as we get nearer to moving forward with assisted.

thislittlebird · 23/04/2021 20:59

*the doctor on the podcast, I haven’t actually seen a real live doctor in over a year Confused

KatRee · 23/04/2021 21:01

I have a stainless steel water bottle that's like the chilly's bottle, but was a bit cheaper off Amazon. Not had any luck finding affordable alternatives to plastic Tupperware though- picked up a stainless steel lunchbox-type thing in Sainsbury's the other week for £10, which was much cheaper than anything else I'd seen, but it had a plastic lid Hmm

KatRee · 23/04/2021 21:02

Wow. How my Friday nights have changed!

Misty84 · 23/04/2021 21:22

I use a stainless steel water bottle now and a glass bottle for my smoothies (£6 in Sainsbury’s) and have a glass blender now. @KatRee I also bought a stainless steel lunchbox with a plastic lid for a tenner in Sains- haha I bet we have the same one! Haven’t found one easily without a plastic lid but I figure if the food isn’t touching the lid it’s ok?! 😛

@Kitekat81 Thanks for being the voice of reason! 🙃 Will try and step away from the tests for another couple of days!

charja100 · 23/04/2021 21:26

Little update - it seems I'm ovulating a week later than my apps predicted but this evening I've finally hit my peak! The line was so strong the control line looked so feint! Can't show pics yet unfortunately as I'm new to Mumsnet.

It's quite frustrating tbh as my DH went away for work today until Sunday so we can't BD tomorrow, which has left me a bit disappointed😔. But we have BD today before he went WY(CD17). Also we did BD on CD15 and CD13 and I will pounce on him as soon he gets home on Sunday morning too 🤣

It's so frustrating the timing of him being away. But I am trying to be positive and I'm grateful we aren't out for this month yet though 🤞🏼

Noodella18 · 23/04/2021 21:46

@charja100 yay! Pleased your LH got there in the end, see what I mean about those tests being OK in the end?!

charja100 · 23/04/2021 21:47

@Noodella18 yes I do, thanks fo much for your support along the way. I swear you can make yourself go crazy dipping all these test strips all the time!

thislittlebird · 23/04/2021 21:58

@Misty84 I’ve seen glass ones with bamboo lids on Amazon, just not sure how they’d get on in the dishwasher 🤔

I guess I should do a clear blue OPK tomorrow but I’m tempted not to bother since I’m still on antibiotics. Will see how I feel tomorrow.

Misty84 · 23/04/2021 21:59

That’s great @charja100! Pleased for you 🙂

Misty84 · 23/04/2021 22:00

And thank you @Marvellouslymadmum. I’ve had my meltdown for the day! 🙃

charja100 · 23/04/2021 22:07

@Misty84 thank you. I am just trying to catch up on today's posts and I've just seen that you've had rough day. Sending you strength. It's still quite early so you're not out yet. I hope the rest of your TWW goes quickly. I know it's so easy to say but keep positive ☺️

Marvellouslymadmum · 23/04/2021 22:13

@AnxiousWannabe good plan!

@KatRee it really is! The pregnacare haven't lengthened my cycle, this is my second month on epo if it doesn't work I'll try the grapefruit as well cos why not!

@thislittlebird that's definitely a good idea! My oh has to ring the fertility clinic to book his appointment for his sa in and he's managed to avoid it all week 😡 I just want him to get the test done so we know what's going on!! That's good that there's hope for improvement though

@charja100 that's good! You're probably covered with all your bd'ing too 🤞🏻

@Misty84 Hope you're feeling better now

Henslovetoscratch · 23/04/2021 22:19

Just wanted to echo good luck to everyone in TWW limbo! Stay strong and don't test!

@Marvellouslymadmum I am also on grapefruit juice this cycle as have a memory of doing that the last time and noticing a big difference but see what happens!

Had a chat with OH about how often and he said he found every second day DTD a bit full on last month so might need to be a bit more strategic in my approach! 😂 Man so many things to consider!!

bass123 · 24/04/2021 00:55

I caved in tested again and got a bfn 8dpo do you guys think that could change?

Misty84 · 24/04/2021 06:37

@Henslovetoscratch We would never be able to manage every other day. At the moment we give it a good go in the fertile week (dtd approx 5 days in a row) but then we’re both so knackered afterwards that we might only dtd once or twice in the TWW! Which has made me think plenty of times: I hope these opks are accurate/I’m reading my cycle accurately! Otherwise that would def explain why I’m not getting pregnant 😂

@bass123 That DEFINITELY could change as 8dpo is super early. You’re still in!

spttc · 24/04/2021 06:49

Can I join ladies? 😁 I'm just turned 35, about to head into my 4th month ttc#1.

Missmcmonkeymcbean · 24/04/2021 07:22

Is anyone else BBT tracking? If so, do you only take your temperature once? I've been doing that since March but in the last few days decided to test again straight after and it was different. Now I'm testing my temp 3 times in a row every morning and taking an average! Is this overkill? This morning was 36.63, 36.78 and 36.80.... I mean, that's quite a difference!

Missmcmonkeymcbean · 24/04/2021 07:24

@sptcc welcome! I'm also ttc #1:)

Eiremogra · 24/04/2021 07:36

Thanks for all your BPA free advice ladies,I have seen the Chillys bottle and the Klean Kanteen products before - hmm maybe it’s time to invest! I also have the Sansbo’s glass bottle but can’t escape the plastic lid! Plus...I’ll no doubt smash it to pieces at some point! Ladies what’s the benefit of the grapefruit juice? I hate the stuff but am willing to try it if it helps.
@got2be I’m still cramping after the HSG Sad and according the OPK I’m late ovulating too! Did you find the same? I’m CD16 which is when I usually get a peak reading ...not this morning though, readings are super low! I can see me spending the rest of today frantically peeing on sticks in wee I miss it! Confused

DNpink82 · 24/04/2021 07:52

Thanks for the new thread I've been AWOL for a few weeks. Had my 21 day bloods last week and I think everything has come back normal. DH still hasn't booked his summing test though 🙄

I did a physic thing back in December after someone one Mumsnet said they'd done it, was only £3 and did it got a laugh as I thought it was a load of tosh BUT I had a job interview yesterday and got the job. I've been applying for jobs since last June and not been offered a single one so it's not a fluke. Anyway roll on July 😬🤣

Geriatric1234 · 24/04/2021 08:01

Hey guys! Was my last week on current contract so apologies for being AWOL!

Huuuuge GRATZ to @TTCat39 and @Gummybear17 - I know we’re all strangers but I genuinely welled up catching up on all this! 🥰🥰🥰 And those test pics were so, SO useful - I always wonder about HCG sensitivity so it’s a good reminder not to drink ALL THE WINE after a BFN on day 11/12!!! Don’t wanna pickle a teeny bean 😬😬😬🤣

Welcome newbies and extra excited to meet you @Missmcmonkeymcbean (hope I’ve tagged correct person!!) as nice to have another over 40 TTC-er here 🙂

Just to re-intro myself for new ppl- HI! I’m 42, DH about to turn 50 so we are WELL OLD 🤣 we only met when I was 39. DH has 2 adorable kids by his ex (11&13) so we weren’t planning children (I’ve never had a strong urge - and actually broke up with exes who wanted children - and I really like WINE and being a step-mum). But...love is nuts so we are now ttc #1 for 5 months as a child feels like the stem on the cherry on the incredible pavlova that is this relationship (which will still be delicious without our own child!). So we tried and got pregnant first try in Nov but sadly miscarried at 7weeks. Wasn’t traumatic just a bit sad as the pregnancy was a surprise (yeah, I know, we were ‘trying’ but I didn’t think I could get pregnant anyway because of fibroids). Anyway, after the MC I did some investigating and it turned out I don’t have fibroids at all (🤦🏻‍♀️) it was a misdiagnosis. The fact the MC wasn’t traumatic flagged to my fertility midwife that my periods were horrific (I didn’t know they were abnormal) so went for acupuncture which has been life-changing! I used to be crippled by period pain starting 5 days before my AF started and passed huge clots every month. This month I went to the loo and wiped and saw blood! Never knew AF was even coming!! Was amazing!! (We missed ov this month with work so wasn’t really in TWW).

Anyhooo - my AMH is 6.3 and I have 8/9 follicles, so I’m not in a bad state for my “geriatric” years! Taking all the supplements, reduced fragranced stuff and plastics (not gone crazy, but done some straightforward swaps). Gonna give it a good few more months and then I’ll just draw a line under it knowing we gave nature a good shot and we can move forward with no regrets...and WINE. Did I mention wine...??

So that’s me! Lovely to meet you all!

A note on PINEAPPLE. I like pineapple but looked into this and there’s no actual research (therefore evidence) that it does anything. If you do take it for the anti-inflammatory bromelain it has to be first thing you consume in the day. But I wouldn’t bother unless you love pineapple! (Though you do crack me up @Noodella18! You need to blog about this journey properly - I’d follow you!! 🤣).

Brazil nuts, however, are good. But only in moderation.

Good article here: www.accessfertility.com/blog/ivf-myths-debunked/

Apologies for essay - just so excited to post again now I’m freeeee from work chains!

Really excited to hear how the IVF-ers get on! Happy weekend ladies!! 😘😘😘

Eiremogra · 24/04/2021 08:10

@Geriatric1234 I love your attitude..also you’re hilarious! Like you, I too am sooo old...41 TTC #1. Met my OH later in life and it just fits so I’m going to give this journey my all. Currently waiting on AMH results and just had HSG (horrific) last week. I’m confused about the AMH results ... what’s good/average at ‘our age’?!

Thanks for sharing that link - going to make a cup of coffee (decaf Sad) and read it x

Misty84 · 24/04/2021 08:16

@thislittlebird I use Dr Organic haircare (always on sale in Holland & Barrett) and the Simple range skincare and body wash. With cleaning products we use our normal brands but have just switched to their ‘no perfumes and dyes’ alternatives.

Be careful when you’re buying BPA free- see attached photo- glass or stainless steel is still preferable if possible. @Eiremogra might interest you too.
