This can’t be possible can it??

Ok so I have been TTC for nearly 2 years. Nothing has happened at all. No chemical pregnancy nothing. I’ve been going months without periods and was diagnosed with PCOS. Last month my doctor recommended I try to take metformin. Refused to start fertility meds until I lost 5kg. I took the metformin for a week (just couldn’t handle it) and then about 2-3 weeks later I ovulated for the first time in about 3-4 months.

Then roughly 13 days later I started bleeding. Sad that I wasn’t pregnant but really happy I finally managed to have a period. It was pretty heavy (quite common for me) however it just abruptly stopped within 5-6 days. Usual periods for me can last nearly 2 weeks!!

Any to cut a long story short. I have been feeling “off” since I stopped my period 2 days ago. My boobs feel really heavy and tingly. Now I thought to try an ovulation stick. Just to see. It was very positive. Too positive for someone who just finished their period.

I then thought on a whim to take a pregnancy test. Internet cheapies. They are positive!! Wtf?! Now my mind is everywhere. Did I miscarry. Is this an ectopic? My emotions are just all over the place. Please can someone just give me some advice.

I would say you’re pregnant. Congratulations! I’m guessing there’s been no more bleeding? I bled early on in my last pregnancy and all was fine so can definitely happen.

TheVolturi · 01/04/2021 21:08

I tried for 7 years to conceive my first and it wasn't till I tried metformin that it happened for me. However a week is pretty good going!
Good luck!

No nothing today. No spotting and Normal discharge. I am experiencing some light cramps and breast tenderness. I just don’t want to get my hopes up. Confused as I did a pregnancy test right before the bleeding began and it was very negative.

I am rubbish at seeing faint lines. Can never see them. BUT everything I see a line on these posts the person is pregnant! So congratulations :)
Can you get a clear blue one?

Mamathebest · 01/04/2021 21:17

@TheVolturi
I am glad it worked for you! The consultant I saw was very negative and stated that I would no chance of conceiving even with the metformin. She gave me something to help bring on a period and said that she didn’t think I could have a natural period. I didn’t take it and thought I’d just try for a month and see what happens. This is my second. My first I didn’t experience any form of bleeding and also I’m worried that the tests are too faint Sad

@SussexCharm2000

Thank you. I haven’t got any clear blue. Going to go in the morning to the shops. Just in shock and can’t believe it. I’m also so confused about the bleeding.

Bleeding in early pregnancy is really common. I had implantation bleeding (minimal and brown) with one son. The other one I bled for around 3 months and was given progesterone. He is now a strapping teen :)

november90 · 01/04/2021 22:34

You have the symptoms and the positive tests so it's looking good and hopeful 🥰
Please do take another test tomorrow because my only reservation would be that the tests are a little faint for how far along you should be. I'm not saying that tk panic you as all tests show positives differently etc but do keep us updated!
I'll keep everything crossed for you :)

bearfood · 01/04/2021 22:41

Fingers crossed for you! Let us know how you get on

Horehound · 01/04/2021 22:48

I would be slightly worried may e you'd had a chemical pregnancy. Because that could still show a positive whilst the levels of HCG drop.
I would wait another few days Or even a week and then try a clearblue digital test.
So hope it's good news!

emvy · 02/04/2021 08:14

Internet cheapies are notoriously crappy for showing decent lines. After I bled in my last pregnancy I obsessively took tests each morning to see if they got darker while waiting for a scan & they were really variable. My daughter is now asleep next to me. So the faintness of the lines doesn’t necessarily mean anything but I personally always confirm with a FRER and would leave it a few days to make sure. I really hope this is it for you!

Mamathebest · 02/04/2021 08:35

Thank you everyone for the support!

I’ve taken another this morning and attached it. It is the second one. The first is from yesterday evening. I have no clue if it’s getting darker. My local pharmacy is closed today. Should I call the GP? I am also really worried it’s an ectopic. Still no further bleeding or spotting.

This can’t be possible can it??

This is going to sound silly but I’ve been having lots of vivid dreams. Don’t really have dreams usually but I remember from my last pregnancy I used to have loads of very vivid dreams.

Evening ones ars always gonna be lighter as your urine is more diluted.

If concerned then call the gp and get a blood test. I say better to check and not need than need and not check

november90 · 02/04/2021 08:39

It's definitely a positive test lovely and the other positive is that you don't have any other signs or symptoms of anything sinister!
If you're worried though it can't do any harm to ring the go to put your mind at ease ❤️
Oh yes I remember those vivid dreams 😅

orangejuicer · 02/04/2021 08:41

Fingers crossed for you OP. Out of curiosity why do you think it could be an ectopic pregnancy?

justwant2beamum · 02/04/2021 08:45

Defo sounds like you're pregnant! Congrats! Could have been implantation bleeding or some women get lighter bleeding at their normal period time through pregnancy. My mum bled with me all through 1st trimester so she didn't know she was pg until 12-14 weeks.

superstar84 · 02/04/2021 08:45

If your chemist is closed you can get tests next day on amazon if it helps

Congratulations!

Mamathebest · 02/04/2021 08:47

Thank you @november90 going to try and get a blood test as recommended. Just feel I need some form of reassurance! If I wasn’t crazy and tested yesterday, I could of gone a few months without knowing!

@orangejuicer
i was bleeding for 4 days right when I should of had a period. I thought bleeding was a sign of an ectopic?

OP posts:
orangejuicer · 02/04/2021 08:50

www.nhs.uk/pregnancy/related-conditions/common-symptoms/vaginal-bleeding/

Do you have any symptoms of ectopic other than bleeding?

Fuzzyduck21 · 02/04/2021 09:23

You could speak to the doctor and explain the situation. Ask for repeat blood tests to see if yiur HCG is increasing as it should. Thats the only way you'll know at the moment. Best of luck x

Mamathebest · 02/04/2021 15:19

I managed to get a clear blue and it was defo positive. Unfortunately my GP has not been answering all day and I’m not sure what else I can do.

This can’t be possible can it??

I’ve been having some mild pelvic discomfort but I wouldn’t say it’s badly painful. I feel very tired and thirsty more than anything.

OP posts:
Kipkay35 · 02/04/2021 17:25

@Mamathebest I really hope this works out for you! Just wanted to check why you want to see the Gp? They usually don't offer any kind of support in early pregnancy other than making sure you're taking folic acid.

I would wait a few more days, retest and if positive it's likely positive! Early pregnancy unit is a better place to go for pregnancy confirmation if you're not sure, but you probably would need to be at least 6/7 weeks. Then you self refer to the hospital you want to book at.

Good luck!
