Ok so I have been TTC for nearly 2 years. Nothing has happened at all. No chemical pregnancy nothing. I’ve been going months without periods and was diagnosed with PCOS. Last month my doctor recommended I try to take metformin. Refused to start fertility meds until I lost 5kg. I took the metformin for a week (just couldn’t handle it) and then about 2-3 weeks later I ovulated for the first time in about 3-4 months.

Then roughly 13 days later I started bleeding. Sad that I wasn’t pregnant but really happy I finally managed to have a period. It was pretty heavy (quite common for me) however it just abruptly stopped within 5-6 days. Usual periods for me can last nearly 2 weeks!!

Any to cut a long story short. I have been feeling “off” since I stopped my period 2 days ago. My boobs feel really heavy and tingly. Now I thought to try an ovulation stick. Just to see. It was very positive. Too positive for someone who just finished their period.

I then thought on a whim to take a pregnancy test. Internet cheapies. They are positive!! Wtf?! Now my mind is everywhere. Did I miscarry. Is this an ectopic? My emotions are just all over the place. Please can someone just give me some advice.

@MsK89

Congrats!!! Have you taken any further tests? That looks like a very obvious positive. I’m waiting for a call back from EPAU. I really hope it’s positive news all round. Hope your managing to get bloods done today as well. I’ll keep you posted. Smile

Hey @Mamathebest I took another test today and it was a stronger positive (see attached) I’m also waiting for a call from EPU now to go in and have bloods.
I’m glad I’m working today as it’s a good distraction!
Keep me posted 😃🤞🏼 Got everything crossed for you xx

Just to give an update. So I did my bloods yesterday and got a call back first thing this morning. HCG levels were at a normal range but progesterone was very low. The clinician was worried and said there’s a good chance it could be an ectopic. I went for a scan not too long ago. I braced myself for the worst news possible. However the scan was completely normal for a 5 week pregnancy. All the cells were forming and there didn’t seem to be any issues.

In terms of the bleeding. The clinician couldn’t find a cause. She said it could have just been implantation bleeding and there’s no blood there now.

However the progesterone levels are slightly worrying and they’ve now put me on progesterone for the first trimester. I’ll also get another scan next week to check how things are progressing. It’s been an emotional day. I just hope baby stays put X

@Mamathebest, Excellent that it isn't ectopic! Sorry to hear about the progesterone but we are all rooting for you! It must feel very hard and frustrating that it's entirely out of your hands, but try to keep positive and hope for the best. They know exactly the issue and are seeking to solve it – I hope it helps to remember that many, many women will have had the same finding and gone on to have a successful pregnancy. I'll be hoping for you too! Xxx

Mamathebest · 07/04/2021 16:07

Thank you so much for those kind words @murmurlade! Smile

I’m so torn about how I feel. Relieved and yet worried again. Like you said it’s out of my hands now. I just have to keep positive and see what happens next week xx

@MsK89
I hope everything is ok on your end as well and hoping you get some good news X

Hey @Mamathebest so glad to see you had a scan and it was in the right place 😃 was that your first lot of bloods? Are they repeating them or do they not need to now you’ve had a scan?
Sorry for all the questions!

I had my first lot of bloods today, she said they are at 3200 I’m trying to avoid googling it to see if that’s good or not. Going back for more on Friday. Also been booked in for a scan on Monday to see if anything is visable.

I’m so nervous, it’s so hard when this is the thing you want MOST in the world but you have no control over it 🙈

Mamathebest · 07/04/2021 20:10

Hey @MsK89! I’m sure if there was any issues with the bloods they would have mentioned on the phone. My nurse told me straight away about the progesterone levels. Please don’t google. I’ve been Googling about low progesterone levels during pregnancy and could of avoided the anxiety as it is linked to miscarriage Confused

Is there a reason they are asking you to do more bloods? I did wonder why I wasn’t having repeat bloods to monitor the progesterone levels. So the clinician told me today that there is no need for any further bloods as it’s visible on the scan. And that progression on the scan would tell us more than bloods. Ask away. It’s nice to talk to someone who’s going through it too!

I also never got any explanation for the bleed.

I know how hard it is to wait. I have everything crossed for you that your scan on Monday goes well. Xx

And yes it was my first set of bloods Smile

OP posts:
MsK89 · 07/04/2021 20:25

@Mamathebest I guess you don’t need more bloods as they were happy with your first lot 😃 which is a great sign!!

I’m having a second lot so they can see how my levels progress in 48 hours. As long as things go ok, I won’t have to repeat it again after Friday 🤞🏼

I don’t think they checked my progesterone levels but I might ask them about that on Friday when they take the second bloods. Be good to know how they look

It’s good we have eachother to chat too! What day is your next scan next week?

Mamathebest · 07/04/2021 20:53

I think that they really just want to know if your HCG levels are progressing and are at a level they can scan. So honestly don’t too concerned about the progesterone. I’m fairly certain they do those at the same time as the HCG. But I could be wrong.

Scan is next Thursday! I really hope these progesterone meds work. It did make me wonder though about the low progesterone. I had a complex first pregnancy and DS was underweight due to placenta not functioning very well. I didn’t have any early tests then but wonder if this is all linked. He’s absolutely fine and healthy! So just goes to show anything is possible Smile

Hey @Mamathebest I had my second lot of bloods today and they had exactly doubled in 48 hours. Asked me EPU about progesterone but they said they don’t test for that.

How are you feeling? Hope your able to keep your mind busy til your scan on Thursday!

Mamathebest · 09/04/2021 15:05

Hey @MsK89

This is fab news!! It sounds like all is progressing well. I’m sure HCG would be more important at this stage- so try to avoid worrying (easier said then done Grin)

I’m ok since starting the progesterone I haven’t felt anymore cramps. I have no idea if this is good or not but trying to keep myself busy with work and my 3 year old. Fingers crossed it’s good news all round :)

Hey @MsK89

Just wanted to say good luck for today’s scan and sending you loads of positive vibes X

MsK89 · 12/04/2021 17:51

Hi @Mamathebest thanks for the good luck. It wasn’t great news but wasn’t the worst! They saw the sac and yolk, but no fetal pole. However she said it looks like I’m exactly 6 weeks so they don’t always see it. I had an external scan, rather than internal.
Now I’ve got another TWW to scan again at 8 weeks 🤞🏼
Good luck for your scan xx

Mamathebest · 12/04/2021 20:12

Hey @MsK89
I’m sorry the scan couldn’t have been more reassuring. However as you’ve said there is a sac & yolk which is great news. In terms of the fetal pole, I thought it would be too early and wouldn’t necessarily show until the 7th week?

If your anything like me you might be stressing/worrying for the next two weeks. Please try and keep busy Xx

I really hope it will be good news for you! Thank you and I’ll send an update on Thursday X

OP posts:
MsK89 · 12/04/2021 20:31

I have been having a google since I got home from work and looks like it’s normally seen from 6.5 weeks to 7 weeks on an internal scan. So I’m trying not to stress tooooo much. My partner will come to the next scan with me in case it’s not good news

Got everything crossed for you, for Thursday. Keep us posted @Mamathebest xx

Mamathebest · 15/04/2021 22:12

Hi @MsK89

Had a pretty rough few days. Yesterday I started bleeding pretty heavily again and prepared myself for the worst. Did the scan today and they could see the sac and yolk. Yolk has doubled in size since last week but they can’t see the embryo as of yet or fetal pole. I think they’ve measured it to be roughly 5-6 weekish. They want to give it one more week to see if anything happens. Again there’s no cause for the bleeding they could see. Everything looked normal. The scan images itself were pretty unclear which they attributed to internal gas.

I’m a bit confused why they wouldn’t wait 2 weeks as that seems to be standard practice at this early stage but who knows.

MsK89 · 16/04/2021 07:26

Hey @Mamathebest sorry it wasn’t better news and you didn’t get to see a fetal pole yet. Despite your bleeding, I hope you are feeling ok in yourself. there is still hope 🤞🏼 Sending love and good luck x

MsK89 · 26/04/2021 12:08

@Mamathebest sad ending for my pregnancy today, hope you are having better news x

Mamathebest · 26/04/2021 12:53

Hi @MsK89

I am very sorry to hear this. How are you? I hope you are ok.

Unfortunately, it wasn’t good news for me either and I had MMC. I had a scan on Friday which confirmed. I am trying to stay positive as hard as it is and remembering that I did at least conceive which has been impossibly for nearly 2 years.

Hope you have lots of support xxx

Oh @Mamathebest I’m so sorry to hear that. It feels so cruel doesn’t it. there’s nothing anyone can say to make you feel better 💔 take care and I hope you have lots of support around you too xx

lena21 · 26/04/2021 12:56

Been so poorly these past few days, my daughter has hand, foot and mouth and I've caught it, just without the rashes! My temp soared to 40 and body aches so I took ibuprofen. 2x yesterday and 2x today. Won't be taking anymore now I know how fetal it can be but I'm on the 2ww. Period is due on 6th but now I'm just panicking. I had a miscarriage before having my daughter, I don't think I could be put through that again x

Naomiixx · 31/08/2021 00:31

So sorry I didn't mean to post on this! I'm new to this sorry x
