Marvellouslymadmum - have you been prescribed iron tablets, or are you getting a B12 injection? Hopefully it will make a difference to your fertility x

Lexber · 24/03/2021 16:53

Hi all,

Busy working day here, I think I have caught up. But now can't remember who I was going to reply to 🤦🏽‍♀️

Quick oPK question - what time do you all test and why?
Is there a better time if day?

Marvellouslymadmum · 24/03/2021 17:05

@soontobeamama oh yes I totally agree! I was prescribed iron 630mg a day who I was taking for about 5 weeks and as it's improved I'm now on 210mg. I really hope it does!

@Lexber with the strips I used to test mid day as it said don't use fmu but could never really tell what eas going on but with cb I test with fmu which it recommends and it's much easier and they worked for me last month too

climbershell · 24/03/2021 17:46

@lexber fmu even on cheap strips. It says don't but that's only coz lh surge supposedly happens in morning and takes longer to show up in urine. But fmu much more concentrated, so I get better readings as urine more dilute later on.

However, when I start getting highs I test 2-3 times a day.

JessWi · 24/03/2021 17:49

So if you get a positive test on an opk that means you’re about to ovulate? Will it be positive if you’ve already ovulated? And if it’s positive when’s the best time to dtd? (Novice questions again!)

climbershell · 24/03/2021 18:03

@JessWi when you get your peak on opk you should generally ovulate 24-36 hours later (you'll only know it's peak not high, when a following opk is lower, as peak is the highest of the positives)

You may still get positive results for the next few days, so yeah you could be positive and have recently ovulated

The most fertile days are the 2 days prior to ovulation and the day of ovulation. Though you can conceive from sex 5 days before & 1 day after ovulation

Lalala1985 · 24/03/2021 18:40

Hoping it's ok if I join. 2nd cycle of trying, currently CD8.
I'm still new to TTC so I love reading all your advice.

Sparrowfeeder · 24/03/2021 18:47

May I join? Ttc first, age 38 (almost 39) and in cycle 11, CD5 (4th cycle post mc). I feel comforted knowing I am surrounded by others of my age as with each cycle passing I am getting worried we have left it too late...

Good luck to all ttc Flowers

Kitekat81 · 24/03/2021 20:50

Welcome all newbies! 👋

@notyetamumbuttrying re private ivf it's so hard to know when it's the right time to start! I don't want to rush into it just because I'm panicking, and I want to have allowed enough time to conceive naturally, but at the same time I know that the longer I leave it the lower the chance of success. I think if we have the consultations in April then it will be 2-3 months before we'd be able to start anyway.

@Marvellouslymadmum did you have any symptoms of iron deficiency, or did you only find out when you were tested?

Twelvestars · 24/03/2021 20:52

@Feanorous I’m 37 (in November 38) and been ttc #1 since January 2020. My husband’s 42. What about you?

@thislittlebird you know if your anxiety is at it’s height, then definitely take your anti-anxiety meds. Can you remind me which you were prescribed? Btw do you suffer from sleep issues? I’ve been struggling with my sleep all my life but more so recently over the past few months.

Btw have you all noticed how most of us here suffer from anxiety in some form or another...

Redwineandcrisps · 24/03/2021 21:10

Hello, would it be okay if I joined you all too?

I have a Ds already who was a surprise (I was a single parent) so this is my first time ever actually ‘trying’. I’m 40, but like another poster, I’m just bloody chuffed to have found a man I like enough to want to go for it with!

Trying not to get wound up in it, but I’m obsessed already with assuming every twinge is a sign and appear to be spending a fortune on early testing kits Blush

M4v3r1ck · 24/03/2021 21:33

Oooh a few us will be testing soon!!! All the 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻! Trying not to symptom spot, but feeling pretty yucky! BBT took a wee dip this morning, but still over the cover line! @TTCat39 funny you mention the heart and breathing - yes, I get this the odd time and never think to connect! 🤷🏻‍♀️

Welcome lovely new people! 😍 you're in good hands here! I think I'm one of the old timers from away back in Thread 1! 🤪🤣 I've learned so much from this fab group and amazing ladies! I'm 36 and TTC#1. Been TTC since end of May 2020, fell pregnant in Oct, but was sadly a MMC at Christmas! Onwards and upwards though! I know we're all gonna get our healthy sticky BFPs! 😍

@Geriatric1234 your posts never fail to make me smile btw! 😘 Good luck on this "fresh start cycle"! I'm considering my last one was my first proper post-MC cycle and it was a wee bit longer than expected, just to pre-warn you - 32 days!

@Sleeeeeepy @Marvellouslymadmum hope your bodies are also beginning to "normalise" again too! 😘

@Kitekat81 hope the decision-making is going ok, lovely! Got all my 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻 for you! 😘

Re: OPK tests, I've now moved onto the CB ones and I actually got a peak (faints!)! The cheap ones super stressed me as I used to do them in the afternoon per instructions, but I drink so much water that I think I was too dilute. You do morning pee with CB and I much prefer that! 😃

Oh just remembered it's hump day today! 🤪🤣😈

@soontobeamama @Lalala1985 @Sparrowfeeder welcome ladies

Twelvestars · 24/03/2021 21:52

@M4v3r1ck same here about CB! They’re just so easy to use and read. I use fmu but also a day before ovulation I test a couple times a day to observe how long my peak is and I stop testing until the smiley face disappears and goes back to static.

@Redwineandcrisps welcome you

thislittlebird · 24/03/2021 22:08

I was holding off @Twelvestars because I was on one antibiotic and then a second antibiotic. Waited to see what side effects I was getting on those, but nothing happened a few days in to the second course so decided to go for it, with a reminder from my body when I started to freak out a bit this morning. It’s citalopram, first time I’ve ever had any meds for it tbh. I’m an ok sleeper mostly, but when I get anxious about something it can be a struggle. What about you?

And yeah, you make a good point. A good few of us here have mentioned it, I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s a big factor in the failure to conceive for me tbh.

thislittlebird · 24/03/2021 22:10

Welcome @Sparrowfeeder @Lalala1985 @Redwineandcrisps @soontobeamama!

@sparrowfeeder I know that feeling well Confused

Twelvestars · 24/03/2021 22:18

@thislittlebird good to know the antibiotics haven’t caused any issue or side effects. How’s your skin now? I am guessing you’re 2 or 3 weeks into your treatment course?

I haven’t slept in ages, like a proper satisfying good night’s sleep. I’ve always had sleep issues but this period it’s been getting worse.

The pandemic, the economic situation locally and around the world, the uncertainty of tomorrow, and add to it ttc in our case and you have a brilliant recipe for inducing or worsening one’s anxiety...

Lexber · 24/03/2021 22:26

New to this, first week OPK and this is what I have so far...
Can anyone shed any light I'm questioning if I have even ovulated at all??

TTC 35+ Thread 8
Twelvestars · 24/03/2021 22:34

@Lexber no idea about these sticks as I use CB but just a quick look I can tell that something has happened around CD12 and CD13.

Lexber · 24/03/2021 22:37

I Thought that @Twelvestars but it doesn't seem very high?!
I'm kind of writing off this month as a practice and chance to get my head around everything and learn about what's what and try and understand.

It's all alien to me, and we dtd cd11 and cd13, and I'm hopeful for tonight (nothing to do with TTC just cos well I want it haha)

Sleeeeeepy · 24/03/2021 22:40

Hi @M4v3r1ck I'm just finishing what seems to be a normalish AF and LH rising so fingers crossed. I had a CP last month after just going by EWCM due to crazy hormones so I must be ovulating 🥳

I think I may have been on thread 1, old timers now eh! Hope this is a lucky month for you lovely xx

climbershell · 24/03/2021 22:59

@M4v3r1ck & @Twelvestars did you not try fmu with cheap sticks? Works well then especially if pee too diluted other times of the day

@Lexber looks like no positive there yet, keep testing and try fmu too

Katiekattty · 24/03/2021 23:15

@thislittlebird good plan to wait to citalopram until antibiotics depending on which ones. For the month I was on it, I had zero appetite and was thirsty all the time which seems to be a popular side effect when I googled around. Also I don’t know if they mentioned this but a lot people get insomnia the first few weeks so try taking it in the morning.

@Lexber that’s what my Premom app looks like if it helps I started testing CD10

Marvellouslymadmum · 25/03/2021 00:02

Hi @Lalala1985 and @Sparrowfeeder @Redwineandcrisps
welcome to the chat!

@Kitekat81 no real signs of iron deficiency, I've always been low on iron ever since I was first tested as a teenager though so I'm probably quite used to the signs!

@M4v3r1ck I actually have no idea 😂 last month was a fairly good 'standard' month ov day 13 and was a 27 day cycle - actually did ovulate too! But so far I'm cd10 and still nothing on opk at all so I'm guessing it'll either be a late or no ovulation this month 🤷🏼‍♀️ but I guess that it pretty normal for me as my cycles aren't regular and I don't ov regularly anyway 🤦🏼‍♀️
Glad you're getting on better with the cb I'm the same and drink a lot so fmu is way easier!

thislittlebird · 25/03/2021 00:17

@Twelvestars yes, just started week 3. It’s definitely better, but it’s slow going. Which I guess is not a shock for a condition that’s resistant to treatment. My feet and hands especially have a fair way to go. It started on my feet, and it has refused to leave my feet for 18 months, even when I managed to improve it pre-wedding in October. Was glad I had a long dress, I originally had an ankle length one Confused. My face is better too. I had this stupid red patch on my right temple since it’s started, wouldn’t go away. Finally can see normal skin again 🙌. Now I just need it to stay that way.

Honestly don’t know how you deal when you can’t sleep properly, my health goes off the cliff when I can’t sleep well, I’m not good at it (but had some practice recently with the skin). Have you just adjusted over time? You’re right, it’s been quite the mix. I’ve definitely had new anxieties the last year or two that I never had before.

@Katiekattty I am still on one antibiotic but I’m on that for six weeks 🙃, didn’t want to wait that long to start but I gave it nearly a week before diving in to the next new medication.

Funny you mention appetite because the oral steroids make me hungry as hell, I’ve started couch to 5k again, am eating a lot of bananas, grapefruits, oranges for the potassium (apparently this helps) because I’m worried about gaining weight. The second week was bad, I could have eaten every single hour. Seems calmer this week, but still a little more hungry I think. Will see what the citalopram does to the appetite issue lol

Definitely aiming for the morning, I don’t want to be awake all night really. I think the steroids made me jittery and awake on Saturday night, actually, just remembered, but that seems to have calmed down since I started a bit of running. Need to run again tomorrow and try to keep it up!
