Am I pregnant?!

Laurah273 · 06/03/2021 20:29

I joined and started a thread yesterday as I was so confused about my cycle. Sorry if this post is confusing!!

My cycles have varied between 29 and 39 days over the last year and a half but they generally average at 33-35 days.

We started trying in January, and I came on my period on 6th Feb (28 day cycle so I was worried that it was early, negative pregnancy test)
So I started OPKs on 12th Feb (CD7) which were low until CD12. They were then high until CD25!

I then had my first peak reading.. and then had 4 days of peak! Today is CD29.
Took another test this morning.. still peak!

Out of frustration, I took a pregnancy test.. instantly and clearly positive.

I then took 4 more a few hours later.. all positive and clear blue says 2-3 weeks.

How is this possible?!
Im not sure! We did baby dance (is that what you call it on mumsnet too? 😂) 4 times between coming off my period and starting OPKs..

Could I of got pregnant straight after my period? Why would the tests then go high and peak?!
My period would usually be due around Wednesday next week..

Any ideas?!?
Xx

I’m not sure what you’re confused or worried about, or wondering ho me it’s possible.
Last month you had a 28 day cycle. This month clearly your body was also on this schedule. You ovulated some time after cd12 , you don’t say when you got your peak but again that is normal for a 28 day cycle.
Ovulation tests can detect pregnancy hormone hcg as well as LG so that may explain the constant high.
You’ve got a positive pregnancy test around the time you’d miss your period, again normal.
You had unprotected sex around your fertile time after your period finished- so I’m a bit confused on why you’re in such disbelief personally.
Any ideas?? Well I’d say you’re up the duff love - congrats!

Yes you sound pregnant

Ozziewoz · 06/03/2021 20:52

Sperm can live for a few days. It also takes time to swim to meet the egg. So whenever you did the baby dance, add a few days on and you will have been ovulating. Congratulations

LauraT94 · 06/03/2021 20:55

@Laurah273 yup OPKs can pick up HCG and they'll come up as a strong peak! Congratulations :)

Laurah273 · 06/03/2021 21:05

@raspberryk
I've only had one other 28 day cycle in the last year and a half, which was last July. My cycle is usually pretty much 33-35 days.

Just checking dates..
Period finished CD5, started testing CD7 (which were low)
CD12-24 high
CD25-29 Peak

Today is CD29

No, you’re not pregnant.

pigglepot · 06/03/2021 21:09

@DropDTuning maybe she's trying to work out dates so that she knows how many weeks along she is? Doesn't seem weird to me to want to know that

TheDaydreamBelievers · 06/03/2021 21:11

@Laurah273 so OPKs only measure one hormone. They dont say for sure when you ovulate and can also detect hcg.

Given your normal cycle lengths you probably usually ovulate cd12-15

I've only had one other 28 day cycle in the last year and a half, which was last July. My cycle is usually pretty much 33-35 days.

Period finished CD5
CD12-24 ovulated in this window, likely cd12-15
CD25-29 opks started to pick up the hcg
You're now 2+ weeks since conceiving (which a medic will call 4+ weeks)

Laurah273 · 06/03/2021 21:11

@DropDTuning
I haven't missed my period.. my normal cycle Im not due for another 4-7 days..

@pigglepot

The thread is called "Am I pregnant?"

In her post she writes

Out of frustration, I took a pregnancy test.. instantly and clearly positive.I then took 4 more a few hours later.. all positive and clear blue says 2-3 weeks.

She has had multiple positive pregnancy tests. Why is she posting a thread asking if she is pregnant?

TheDaydreamBelievers · 06/03/2021 21:12

Sorry I dont know how I got part of your comment in that Confused

Laurah273 · 06/03/2021 21:15

@DropDTuning
Because if I'm going off my ovulation tests, It's saying I haven't ovulated yet.. unless my LH peaked and dropped, I ovulated in the 2 days where I haven't got a test reading.
Why even comment 🤔😂

Ovulation tests aren’t always accurate. Don’t stress about the whys and how’s otherwise it’s going to be a very long pregnancy! Congratulations and book yourself in with the midwife.

Ihoeihoeihoe · 06/03/2021 21:19

Are you confused because the Clear Blue says 2-3 weeks and you haven’t missed your period yet?

Could just be high HCG levels... twins? Or if you think somehow you could be further along try and get an early scan. Congratulations and good luck x

sickofthisyear · 06/03/2021 21:19

@UrsulaBee

No, you’re not pregnant.
😂😁
sickofthisyear · 06/03/2021 21:21

Agree with above- OPKs are a 'dark art' sometimes. Ignore them and concentrate on the pg tests. Sometimes you ovulate and don't catch your peak when testing (it can come and go in hours). Congrats OP

Genevive123 · 06/03/2021 21:22

Hello lovely! I get what you mean not sure what all the hate comments are about haha.. sounds like you may have ovulated super early and not realised and you're getting peak OPK's because you're pregnant ☺️ x

Laurah273 · 06/03/2021 21:22

@Coriandersucks thank you 😊
I wish I didn't start using them tbh! They were recommended for me to try and understand my cycles more because of them not being standard or regular!

@Laurah273 turns out you didnt even need them! I hope now you can relax a bit and accept that you're pregnant- congratulations! Smile

For dating you go by the first day of your lmp until a dating scan says otherwise.
You probably missed your peak on you opk. There’s a reason they aren’t recommended by professionals, they only give an indication of the presence of LH. You can’t pinpoint accurately when you ovulate with them alone.

Genevive123 · 06/03/2021 21:26

@DropDTuning Whoaaa think you need to chill out. Majority of users say "baby dancing" rather than using foul language.

Laurah273 · 06/03/2021 21:28

@Ihoeihoeihoe thank you 😊

@Genevive123 I didn't know that was possible to be honest! 🙈 wish I had known lol!

@DropDTuning I thought most people would take the title with a pinch of salt tbh.. I'm actively trying to get pregnant.. 🙄

I was literally just seeing if anyone else has had a similar experience of ovulating straight after their period..
