Hey everyone

We're ttc on cycle 2, I'm normally on a 25-28 day cycle but on CD31 now and nothing, I did a test this evening but was negative, going to try again in the morning

I'm never this late so not sure what's going on😓 anyone else late but negative test?

Morning

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 how late are you now?

I’m ok, nervous for my results but in my head I think it will be negative. Still doesn’t explain anything though. No more blood this morning.

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 10/03/2021 08:37

@surreychick how late are you now? I’m 11 days late

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 10/03/2021 08:39

@surreychick that’s so strange. It’s so good you’ll get an answer one way or the other later today. Nerve racking for you while you wait for the results though 🤞🤞

surreychick · 10/03/2021 08:52

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 I’m on day 41 now - should have had AF around day 29.

choccrumpet · 10/03/2021 08:56

Morning, I'm negative this morning so that's good. Feeling a bit fed up tbh, currently trying to decide whether to get a private progesterone prescription for this cycle or try again just using aspirin and up it to 150mg. I'm getting tired of doing so much research, googling, reading about others experience but at the same time I can't focus on anything else but this.

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 that's frustrating!
@surreychick fingers crossed you get your results soon

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 10/03/2021 10:29

@choc that's good. What area are you in? With your number of early losses, even if you've been trying for under a year, it seems it is enough to get referred to for investigations for recurrent pregnancy loss in my area. Apologies if you've looked into this already. The guidance has said they prescribe low doses of aspirin and progesterone, despite a lack of empirical evidence that these are effective, because it doesn't cause harm. On that basis I would be tempted to investigate privately if the GP's are being rubbish

choccrumpet · 10/03/2021 12:31

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 I'm in Berkshire. Is that a specialist place? I don't know much about this tbh. I've been referred to the fertility clinic at a local hospital where I assume I will get some testing, depending on when that appointment is of course and if I haven't been successful by then. I don't know if I should be looking into anything else, my doctor hasn't suggested I do anything else so I'm not aware if I've got other options.

I've heard of others getting private prescriptions of progesterone so that's what I'm looking into at the moment as I don't believe my GP will prescribe that to me.

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 10/03/2021 13:11

Hi Choc, I'm in London. Ah if you've been referred already for investigations, it might be the same thing. I had a quick google on Berkshire, and it doesn't seem like they're very helpful - 'may be referred for investigations' etc www.royalberkshire.nhs.uk/patient-information-leaflets/Fertility%20clinic%20recurrent%20miscarriage

I don't think GP's prescribe it because of cost, a private GP might, you could ring ahead and ask what their policy is on prescribing cyclogest (ie would they be open to it) before seeing them and wasting money on a consult. I've used private GP for things not related to fertility where GP couldn't give me what I need because of their policies and cost, but private GP would because you're paying for it. In my case it was Zofran, because I was sick for about a year and it was the only thing that would stop the sickness. I needed it because my job is a lot of meetings and travel where I couldn't keep getting sick, and NHS would only give me a rubbish cheaper drug which didn't work and gave me side effects

surreychick · 10/03/2021 14:12

Hi all

Blood test was negative. Husband is on a work call so I can't even tell him.

Going to call the IVF clinic now so at least I can feel like we've moving on it.

Gutted.

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 10/03/2021 14:46

Surrey I'm so sorry. The hope is so cruel, even if we're trying to view it through a realistic lens, its still there because we've not got our period :(

Good luck with the ivf call. My friend is going through it now and is so excited (and nervous), because something is proactively happening, rather than just trying each month and being disappointed.

choccrumpet · 10/03/2021 16:55

@surreychick I'm so so sorry ❤️ that must be so difficult for you. I hope your call goes well. At least you've got an answer now and will have help going forward. You never know what might happen in the future. Be kind to yourself now and look after yourself.

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 yes google hasn't helped with these things when I tried looking. Today I remembered that I've got free private GP appointments through work so I'm going to go through that first and see if they can prescribe it to me. Thanks for your insights, I'm hoping I will be able to get somewhere using these Aviva GPs.

On another note, my bleeding has only lasted 2 full days and is very light barely there today on the 3rd day.. normal periods are not like this so no idea what's going on 🤦🏼‍♀️ think my body has had enough. Cervix feels high and soft, can't tell if it's open or closed though

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 10/03/2021 17:57

Hi Choc, that's very strange about the late and light bleeding, yay to the Aviva GP's, hopefully they'll investigate it

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 11/03/2021 10:38

I think my period will be starting soon. Cervix feels a bit lower, than it was, have back and period cramping, and had a spot of light pink this morning. Will almost be a relief if it does

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 11/03/2021 11:52

Yup, period starting. A bit sad, but at least can start afresh this month.

choccrumpet · 11/03/2021 16:41

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 sorry to hear ☹️ hope you're feeling okay. It's so frustrating

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 11/03/2021 19:04

Its okay, I knew it would be coming at some point! Bizarrely, I've just had a little tiny bit of brown blood and nothing, so I'm back to waiting. Hope you're both okay!

surreychick · 11/03/2021 20:24

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 I’m still the same - I’ve had hardly any blood - just waiting and waiting for a full period. So frustrating.

Spoke to the ivf clinic today. It’s likely I’ll have to have a scan before we can start just to see if there is anything going on that shouldn’t be.

choccrumpet · 11/03/2021 20:50

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 that is very frustrating! Brown blood could be something to do with early pregnancy?

@surreychick equally as frustrating but the scan sounds positive, hopefully you might have some answers then!

I've been trying to figure out how to proceed, whether to keep going as normal with aspirin or try progesterone. I'm leaning towards keep going as normal, hoping that it will happen but will take it one day at a time and try not to pressure myself into anything

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 11/03/2021 22:16

@surreychick weird we’re both just having this. And Choc you had a light period also? I feel like it’s coming, just not sure when....

I did order some soy isoflavones today for next day delivery. I’m going to take them days 3-7 for hopefully a stronger egg, stronger ovulation leading to stronger progesterone production, and a longer luteal phase. We’ll see if they work, but I feel like I’m doing something!

Surrey that’s great they’ve got the ball rolling already!

choccrumpet · 12/03/2021 08:52

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 yep mine has been more like spotting and when I wipe it's there but not much else for the past 3 days which is really unusual but maybe it's changing and becoming lighter overall.

I haven't heard much about isoflavones. Would you recommend looking into/trying?

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 12/03/2021 09:23

So weird!

I don’t know Choc, I’ve done a fair bit of reading and I’m excited to try them. There have been a lot of positive stories, they’re meant to be a natural version of clomid. However there’s also the possibility that they can mess up a regular cycle of your body is already quite estrogen and progesterone balanced. I think my hormones are a bit out of whack at the moment, so I’m going to give it ago.

choccrumpet · 12/03/2021 09:41

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 that's very interesting, thanks for sharing. Do you know which supplement you're going to buy? Might be something to consider trying in my next cycle as I'm already a few days in

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 12/03/2021 10:32

I bought these ones because I'd seen people on Mumsnet suggest them - they're 50 mg and you don't want the high dose ones for menopause. www.amazon.co.uk/Natures-Aid-Soya-Isoflavones-Genistein/dp/B000GY76L6/ref=sr_1_27?dchild=1&keywords=soy%2Bisoflavone&th=1&tag=mumsnetforu03-21&qid=1615544821&sr=8-27 Saw a lot of people were using the £4 Tesco ones however, and had good results.

choccrumpet · 12/03/2021 12:36

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 that's for sharing, they're good to keep in mind. Will be researching this a bit more for my next cycle. Let me know how you get on if you start taking them!

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 12/03/2021 12:51

Yeah I def will update how it goes with them
