The Ferti-Lily

MummyT13 · 21/02/2021 23:42

Hey,

So... this is month 24 of TTC and I've just invested in a ferti lily! 😂 it's last resort before turning to science!

So long story short, I have 2 DC from a previous relationship. I have been trying for 2 years for another as my new partner doesn't have any and obviously I would love another one. I have had all tests etc and I have been diagnosed with a blood disorder which hopefully will be sorted with Asprin. I have had 2 chemical pregnancies along the way.

DP has low mobility hence trying the ferti lily!

So my question is.. has anyone else been using this?

@MummyT13 what a nightmare! Nothing like conflicting information for you! What will you do now?

MummyT13 · 28/04/2021 21:08

@Marvellouslymadmum I haven't got a clue! This is month 26 of TTC 🤔 thought the consultant would have been of more help! I think I'm going to give it another 10 months and go down the IVF/ICSI route... just don't wanna spend that money and know that it could happen! You know what I mean? What would you do? X

Marvellouslymadmum · 29/04/2021 17:48

@MummyT13 yes I completely get that! Think I'd give the aspirin a go if that's what the consultant says, I've heard a few have positive stories from using it too! If you've got time on your side then 10 months is a good mark for then going off to ivf, it's so so expensive and no guarantees it will work! Have you had all your other fertility checks done? X

Sydney1986x · 29/04/2021 21:26

@SLCxxx hey. Sorry for the delay, been taking some time out from the weight of TTC 🤧 and all the emotions that come with it. SI is self insemination- so exactly as you describe with the fertilily. Sometimes when we can’t be arsed we do this and also OH was getting some performance anxiety which is common so we do a mixture and its helped sex not feel like a chore or a task! Seperated the two if you like. Good luck x

SLCxxx · 30/04/2021 06:53

@Marvellouslymadmum didn’t think about the splash back 😅

@MummyT13 that’s terrible. Did they do a scan or test a semen sample? It makes you wonder why we pay our national insurance each month 😡

suzy124 · 30/04/2021 12:03

Hi @SLCxxx as Sydney said SI is self-insemination, which I'm having to do because my partner suffers from delayed ejaculation. So we use a syringe to insert the goods and then I pop the cup in after. Same as having him finish in the cup and inserting - something I thought about with the ferti-lily but no idea how the heck I'd get it in without losing it all since you flip the cup for insertion. If you try this I'd be very interested to know how you get on!!

Anyway, currently in my FW and first time sleeping with the cup in so we'll see if that makes any difference...

Marvellouslymadmum · 30/04/2021 18:39

@SLCxxx I'd be worried we would lose half of it trying to get it in there and the other half trying to get the fertilily in without spilling 😂🤦🏼‍♀️

MrsBirds · 04/05/2021 13:49

Hi ladies a little bit late to the party, but is anyone still using the ferti lily cup, I used it for my last two cycles and ended up pregnant last cycle but it ended in a chemical. Going to try it again this cycle. Are there any success stories out there ?

SLCxxx · 04/05/2021 14:07

Afternoon Ladies, welcome @MrsBirds

So.. I used the cup for the very first time last night! I can now completely understand what you mean about difficult it will be to get it in prefilled 🤣🤣

Anyway, I managed to get it in perfect first try, lol, waited half hour.. then I could NOT get the damn thing off 🤣🤣🤣 omg! I had to get OH involved and it took like 20mins to remove it with team work.. think it probably sucked all the little swimmers back out of my cervix 🤦🏼‍♀️

I got my flashing smiley face this morning so will give it another go tonight 😱 any tips on removal??

@Marvellouslymadmum where are you in your cycle? I’m CD12

@suzy124 ah, thanks for explaining. How did you get on with sleeping with it in? If I can’t get it off this evening I may just do the same lol

SLCxxx · 04/05/2021 14:08

@Sydney1986x also thanks for explaining, performance anxiety seems to be hitting a few household, mine included! Good luck to you too ☺️

MrsBirds · 04/05/2021 14:17

Oh had someone slept with it in? That’s my plan this month.

I have to say I did raise my legs and kept socks on too so don’t know if that helped me get the positive but then I think maybe the sperm wasn’t a good one that did fertilise the egg and on a normal occasion it wouldn’t have got to the egg but I kept it up there 🙈

I was worried the first couple of times on how to get it out so I just slowly pulled and wiggled it as I got it out. It does get easier so I’d definitely say to try it a few times before you get your peak.

SLCxxx · 04/05/2021 14:44

@MrsBirds, I’m sorry for your loss. I had a MC at 10wks in Jan, been trying since which isn’t that long really but feels like forever! But it did take over a year to conceive that one. I also think it must have been a poorly sperm for us.

Have you ever used preseed? I lined the cup with it last night, hope it gives the swimmers abit more energy 🤞🏻. Tonight I will also attempt to put my legs up and wear socks 👍🏻 Lol

suzy124 · 04/05/2021 14:48

When I first started ttc I was inserting just a regular menstural cup. My first attempt at getting that out was a real panic so I can relate. Compared to that though I find the ferti-lily a breeze! I just try and grab the stem as far up as I can and GENTLY pull to bring it down a bit, then hook my middle finger up and over the rim of the cup to pull it the rest of the way out. It will get easier just takes practice.

Sleeping with the cup in went well, I thought I'd be itching to get it out during the night, but it wasn't as uncomfortable as I find it when I'm up moving around! Just entered my 2ww so we shall see...

BabyMoonPie · 04/05/2021 14:48

Don't know if it was due to the fertilily but I'm 8 weeks pregnant after my first cycle of using it (cycle 27 of TTC so we'd tried a lot of things before it!)

suzy124 · 04/05/2021 14:52

Congrats @BabyMoonPie !

Cycle 3 of fertilily for me and still holding out for that BFP

MrsBirds · 04/05/2021 14:54

@SLCxxx

thank you, good luck with the TWW. I used conceive plus I put it on the cup and got it ready on the side then my husband put in in after he finished. It went pretty far up so I think that helped. I think sleeping with it in may make the difference of a little swimmer getting up there.

@suzy124 when it’s up I hardly feel it, I did go longer this time and had it in for 2 hours. I’m definitely going to sleep with it in on my peak days.

@BabyMoonPie aww that’s amazing news congratulations and thank you for sharing, it’s given me hope. Hope all goes well with the pregnancy xx

BabyMoonPie · 04/05/2021 15:52

@MrsBirds and @suzy124 - thank you. I've a long way to go but if I can share hope I will (I'm also 40 in case anyone is feeling their age too!)

MrsBirds · 04/05/2021 16:07

@BabyMoonPie I’m 40 next year and was hoping to have baby no 2 before my birthday so we can go away. But after reading a few posts I’m now not bothered about being pregnant on my 40th or even having a baby close to my birthday. Xx

BabyMoonPie · 04/05/2021 16:14

@MrsBirds - this is number 2 for us too (number 1 took 8 months to conceive). We started trying when I was 38 - at first I said my cut off was giving birth at 39, then we said we'd try for 2 years, then it was until we got called for our covid vaccines. We had success on our last month trying and we'd started private fertility investigations to get some answers so we could stop knowing we'd tried our best. It can be a rotten journey but I hope you get your BFP soon

MrsBirds · 04/05/2021 16:21

@BabyMoonPie number 1 took us 6 months and that was a really hard journey due to fertility issues. I honestly thought baby 2 would be a breeze because I’d done it all before here we are on cycle 5 with tracking with no joy yet.

We’ve said we will wait until our fertility clinic referral through the nhs if nothing comes back from that then we’ll go for ivf and forfeit our savings that we were saving for a bigger house. We can get by in this house, it was just a nice to have x

SLCxxx · 04/05/2021 16:59

@BabyMoonPie oh that’s amazing! You have no idea how much hope that has given me 💕 congratulations! Any special tips or did you just use it as per the instructions?

@suzy124 amazing, thank you. Think I will start leaving it in overnight too. 🤞🏻 Crossed for you this month is your lucky month. The TWW is horrid

@MrsBirds do you think the lube helped?

I’m 36 next week so not too far behind lol x

Marvellouslymadmum · 04/05/2021 17:52

Hi @MrsBirds I still use it every other time we dtd in the fw and I've seen lots of good stories. I've actually had one mc and one cp whilst using it too.

@SLCxxx 😂😂 made me lol I've had that problem a few times so tend to keep it in for at least a couple of hours so it doesn't take everything with it! I am currently about 9dpo.

@BabyMoonPie that's great news congratulations definitely gives us some hope, I'm definitely feeling my age - just turned 42 🥴 3years ttc this one (our 1st together but both have children feel previous relationships)

suzy124 · 04/05/2021 18:40

Thanks @SLCxxx I'm only 1 or 2dpo and already losing my mind... I hope you have better luck with getting the cup out next time, I recommend having a little practice session before too - helps relieve anxiety around removal!

BabyMoonPie · 04/05/2021 20:06

@SLCxxx we just followed the instructions. We also used ConceivePlus

BabyMoonPie · 04/05/2021 20:10

@Marvellouslymadmum - thanks. I wish I had wise words to share but we just kept going until we got there (and maybe the fertilily- who knows!)
