Hello all, setting up a new thread for us old timers to keep up and stay sane on the ttc journey!

I forget this thread still exists. Probably very much beyond trying for a first and firmly in the unlucky infertiles camp these days.

@MIW01 i caught up with you on the donkeys thread but it really is good to hear you’ve got a better result from this round so far, hope it’s going well!

@XjustagirlX I’ve only just seen your latest updates. Am I right in saying you’ve had two failures since your first? That’s really hard, I’m sorry this is how it has gone for you. What was the womb lining check you did? I’ve had one failure and don’t feel positive it’ll work after that, so I’m sure more than one feels awful. I’m interested in you being on letrozole too, I might ask about that. I don’t want a full medicated cycle because of my migraines but I was fine on letrozole and that would boost oestrogen. They’re doing natural modified again for me, said I could have a trigger injection if needed but didn’t mention letrozole.

XjustagirlX · 20/06/2022 13:34

@thislittlebird yeah I’ve had 3 failed transfers now. I’m in my next cycle but I’m on CD17 and no sign of my follicles growing in this natural cycle. it’s a natural cycle again this time. Also I am putting two back in this time.

im really struggling at the moment. It’s really getting me down. I had a panic attack yesterday and I just cannot find the joy in life.

when are you doing your next transfer?

thislittlebird · 20/06/2022 14:10

@XjustagirlX are you doing a natural modified or natural FET? I had to wait until day 22 for them to be ready on my first FET cycle.

I can totally understand that, I think people can’t possibly understand how traumatic this all is if they haven’t done it and a panic attack is completely understandable, but I hope you’re feeling better today. I’m struggling myself too at the moment, with my ever increasing age, with the stagnation of my life, my career, my friend groups, being stuck treading fucking water for years and not knowing what the future holds, feeling like I’m going to be an old parent if it eventually happens. I’m angry and I’m bitter that it seems to work for everyone else, naturally or otherwise. It’s so hard just waiting all the time. Rant over, but it’s never really over lol.

Transfer should have been this month but my pre-booked holiday fell at the wrong time so I’m just waiting now for AF and then I can call them to attempt natural modified FET attempt two. I don’t feel very positive right now, I wish I could say I did.

Fingers crossed for one of those two. We’re doing a single this time, and then next time (maybe August/September) we’ll have the choice of a double. Then after that I’ll have to do more collections.

MIW01 · 21/06/2022 17:12

Hello everyone

Thank you for your well wishes. Just an update from me. Unfortunately this round didnt go as well as hoped. We got 4 eggs and 2 fertilised via ICSI and we were told the quality of the eggs and sperm isn't very good. And that the 2nd embryo wouldn't be suitable for freezing. So we've had both embryos transferred on Saturday and we are feeling very hopeful that this time at least 1 of them will implant. I am due to test on the 29th.

thislittlebird · 21/06/2022 19:36

@MIW01 I’m sorry to hear that update on EC but at the same time getting to transfer two seems like a positive, fingers firmly crossed for the 29th for you.

MIW01 · 23/06/2022 14:45

@thislittlebird yes it's swings and roundabouts here atm. Still hoping and praying!

MIW01 · 23/06/2022 14:55

@thislittlebird & @XjustagirlX I completely empathise. It just isn't effin fair! Any old crack w*e can get up the duff at the drop of a hat and here we are, decent citizens whove planned for this for years amd we've got nothing but heart ache and our lives ripped apart. Yes I am angry and bitter and sad. I am grieving at this loss, this pain and trauma. I ask why me. Why us? I feel like we're being punished. And yes, sometimes, more than I'd like to admit, I just want it all to end!

Lozzlepop · 23/06/2022 18:45

MIW01 · 04/07/2022 10:50

Hello everyone, we got a negative test last Wednesday. That's all our NHS funding gone now.

Annny27 · 04/07/2022 10:56

I am so sorry @MIW01 that sounds incredibly difficult 🤍
Will you pursue private options or is this not feasible at the moment?

OP posts:
XjustagirlX · 05/07/2022 09:10

sorry I’ve been a bit hectic. So I wasn’t ovulating at all which was stressful but I did finally ovulate on CD24 and had transfer last Saturday. It was very stressful as it looked like it would fall on the Sunday and then transfer would have been cancelled!

thee was also an issue on the day of transfer which meant had it been mon to Friday then both embryos would have had to be disposed of and the transfer cancelled. Luckily it was all sorted and I now have 2 embryos in.

@thislittlebird im not sure the difference between natural or natural modified. Basically I have no drugs except progesterone. But this cycle Im also having prednosoline but hays not through the clinic protocol. When is your AF due to start for your next cycle? It’s annoying about the holiday timing but it may help being on holiday. I went on holiday the day after transfer in the hope it may somehow help.

XjustagirlX · 05/07/2022 09:14

@Lozzlepop congrats and the name is lovely!

@MIW01 im so sorry. It’s so unfair. I also get the feeling like the nhs funding isn’t always the best. They give the minimum except let’s just keep trying. but the moment you start paying then there are more tests and treatment offered.

XjustagirlX · 05/07/2022 09:20

Also I had an interesting chat with a nurse this cycle. So roughly every second or third cycle i get multiple LH peaks. This causes great confusion at the clinic as they want to book me in for transfer but I know that it’s just a fake peak.

one of the nurses said they see this often in people with pco (not pcos). I went home and researched loads and it makes so much sense for me. I do have more hair in unwanted places but not enough for pcos. I have a high AFC but not enough for pcos. I have multiple LH peaks and suffer really badly with my hormones. And lots more too.

im annoyed really because ages ago I mentioned pcos and the nhs doctor dismissed me but didn’t discuss pco and I didn’t know about it to bring it up. I’ve seen multiple doctors and no one except this nurse has ever mentioned it to me and I have told all doctors about my multiple peak issues.

@thislittlebird from memory did you get diagnosed with pco?

thislittlebird · 05/07/2022 18:33

@Lozzlepop congrats!

@XjustagirlX that sunday thing sounds stressful! Glad to hear you have two embryos on board!

Natural is minus progesterone and natural modified is with progesterone at my clinic, so sounds like I'll be doing the same as you. Did you go to a private doc for the pred? I hate pred, my face is still fat from taking it for a couple of months last spring, but I suspect it's something I might need.

Are you on holiday now?

AF has been and gone, my first scan is Thursday and hopefully I'll be able to get away to Cornwall to see family right after it and come back Sunday. Assuming next scan will be Monday.

I didn't get diagnosed officially, no. Essentially no one seemed very interested because PCOS isn't relevant to IVF in their eyes but one doctor blatantly said "you've got PCOS!" and I don't think I have, another said "borderline". I have none of the symptoms bar excessive follicle numbers and slightly wonky period lengths, so I suspect, like you, if I'm anything I'm PCO but I'm tempted to go see a PCO specialist if I can find one.

When you say you have unwanted hair, can I ask what you have? 😂I have a couple of dark hairs that grow in odd places and I don't know if that's me being over-aware or it's a mild PCO sign. My GP ran some PCOS tests on me and they all came back fine. I think it's a bit of an under-researched grey area, if I'm honest. Like lots of women's things!

@MIW01 I replied to you on the donkey board, but it's really shit, I'm sorry.

XjustagirlX · 05/07/2022 18:40

@thislittlebird ye I’m on holiday now. I’ve never taken prednisolone before so I hope I don’t get the fat face thing!

i got a private doctor to do the natural killer cells test and as they were elevated hey prescribed prednisolone 20mg a day.

so I have moustache hair and hair under my bellybutton and I also gave quite hairy arms. I think there is not a lot of i go on pco or any solutions. People tend to focus more on pcos. I’m wondering whether it means that the eggs are just lower quality.

im glad you are all set with your next cycle.

thislittlebird · 05/07/2022 18:56

@XjustagirlX google prednisolone moon face. There's diets you can have to counteract some of the effects, good luck and I hope you can swerve the moon!

I'm tempted to get a test for microbiome tbh. That's an issue I think I could have, did you have that one?

I have really fine, blonde hair including on my upper lip and apparently (according to google) those don't count. But I have one dark straggler under the belly button like you, or a bit lower, between the belly button and pubic bone, and I have another dark straggler on my right upper arm. Not sure how common these things are????

I'm not sure if the eggs are lower quality, both of us managed to make embryos. Could be luck, could be age in my case, definitely not enough known about PCO.

XjustagirlX · 06/07/2022 07:58

ill keep an eye out for moon face!

ive not had the micro biome test yet. After 3 failed transfers I decided the issues could be either embryo quality or the environment so I would like to consider next:

  • micro biome test

  • ERA test

  • PGA testing

  • karotyping blood tests on me and my husband

i obviously can’t get all these done at the same time due to cost. Plus the nhs don’t let me get them done as it’s a funded cycle. So i will just go to another private clinic to request these tests.

last cycle we had the karotyping tests done and we are just waiting for the results. It will probably come back normal but it is just helping me cross out reasons.

next I will try and do the ERA test but it’s classed as an add on so isn’t allowed. I’m going to book in a call with my clinics CCG secretary who understands the rules better. I am hoping they will let me pay for the ERA test in between cycles 1 and 2 as a private patient.

thislittlebird · 11/07/2022 23:30

@XjustagirlX how are you getting on in the tww?

I’d like to try the microbiome and era I think. Will see how this next one goes. I’m debating/researching whether baby aspirin would be useful to me. Might be something to consider after this cycle, if it fails again.

Got my LH surge today (day 13, how about that, very unusual for my body to follow a normal schedule) so will likely be having my transfer early next week.

XjustagirlX · 13/07/2022 11:41

@thislittlebird i was on holiday right after the transfer so that helped pass the time. My OTD is Friday so not long to go now. I decided not to test this cycle before the OTD.

my boobs are really sore, I got a small spot on my face (which is a AF or BFN sign for me). It feels like my period is about to show up. It’s really messing with my head but at the same time I don’t really have an urge to test.

if you ovulated, is the transfer booked in now?

thislittlebird · 13/07/2022 11:52

@XjustagirlX sounds like a good plan, and Friday isn’t far off so you can definitely wait until OTD. I can’t cope with early testing, stresses me out more. The boobs are a good sign, fingers crossed!

Transfer is booked for Sunday, lovely sweaty day for it! Tempted to take the Monday off.

XjustagirlX · 15/07/2022 08:29

BFP!!! Omg i can’t believe it. I then did a weeks test and it says 3+ weeks. I wonder if both have implanted.

thislittlebird · 15/07/2022 09:12

@XjustagirlX omg I’m so excited for you!!! That’s amazing news!

Remind me what you took again, how many days are yo past transfer etc?

XjustagirlX · 15/07/2022 09:51

@thislittlebird im 13dp5dt. I’m on progesterone and prednosoline (20mg a day). This is the first month I am taking prednisolone.

ive phoned the clinic but they didn’t answer so just waiting for a call back. I’m so desperate to know if 1 or 2 implanted.
