Hi everyone

So I had my first biopsy for nk cells in Coventry. I found it quite painful but the gas and air was amazing.

I’ve also got my hysteroscopy in a couple of weeks to see what’s going on up there. Then after that I’m going to request to be put on the ivf list just to get the ball rolling.

Im still waiting for my recurrent miscarriage tests due in March.

So after months of waiting it feels like all my tests are happening at once which feels nice. We have stopped trying this cycle and next cycle while the tests are going on.

I’ve noticed my mood is so much better when we are not trying. Either the trying really gets to me or my hormones go crazy when we are trying.

MIW01 · 16/02/2021 14:29

Appointment is with the fertility team @thislittlebird though I'm anticipating they'll tell me that now I've changed areas they won't be able to help me anymore and I'll have to wait for the referral to go through in my new area. We'll see. The original reason they suggested Clomid is because that's all they can offer on the NHS as that area can't fund me for IVF because the age limit is 35 and they took so damn long doing all the tests I've now passed my 35th birthday which was in September (I was 32 when we started TTC) sorry if I sound bitter but I am! We purposefully didn't plan to put money aside for private fertility treatment because a) we thought we would find it easy to get pregnant based on family history and b) we were confident that we would be seen well before my 35th birthday! The amount of stress this is causing is beyond belief.

Rmd123 · 16/02/2021 15:01

Think I'm out! Have AF cramps and slight spotting. Only 11 DPO so she's coming early! Hopefully next month 🥺

Annny27 · 16/02/2021 16:54

Afternoon ladies :D welcome to all the newbies 💗 i hope your journey is shorter and less complicated than us longtimers haha

@thislittlebird sorry that it looks like ovulation isn't happening but as you say, clomid is a really good option.

@MIW01 totally - when the doctor says "there really is no reason why you can't conceive" provides me with zero comfort and a tonne of anxiety haha! Its just so rubbish unexplained. Sorry af arrived! Mines on the way due tomorrow so will be joining you for a similarly timed fertile week!

@Aims1991 I havent used the CB ones before I use the femometer LH strips.which seems to work well for me :)

@kiza whens your first scan?

@whatsthecraic91 how are you and baby doing? I actually feels like only yesterday you were ttc haha!

Annny27 · 16/02/2021 16:55

@xjustagirlx when do you expect results from the nk tests? I am always less stressed when we have something active that month e.g a test or an appointment

@rmd123 my spotting started at 11dpo this month but if its not normal for you it could be the infamous "implantation bleed"

OP posts:
thislittlebird · 16/02/2021 17:03

A chance of getting clomid would be a fine thing @Annny27. Spoke to a private clinic today who think I am ovulating based on that result and didn’t even mention clomid. No one wants to even talk about it with me, I’m so tired of tests (which I have to have more of) when other people seem to be on clomid at the drop of a hat, I don’t get it and it’s exhausting.

@MIW01 ugh that’s awful how long it’s taken. Something is better than nothing I guess, but not great. I honestly think the stress is making everything a million times harder for so many of us. The speed of all this is appalling and no one seems interested in the impact of that.

Welcome to the new people! @AClick @Rmd123 @XjustagirlX and sorry if I’ve missed anyone.

Loki21 · 16/02/2021 17:04

Hi, I'm new here but always check what you are all saying when I feel really stressed and you always help. Been trying now for 18 months and now going crazy! 2 days over due AF but BFN 🙁 hoping it could be BFP tomorrow

Rmd123 · 16/02/2021 17:06

@Annny27 I hope it's that!! If I don't get full AF by tmo evening I'll test Thursday

XjustagirlX · 16/02/2021 18:45

@Annny27 i should get the nk results in about 6 weeks but I’ve been told there are delays with covid. Annoyingly you have the second biopsy before getting the results from the first. Which seems lots of pain for nothing. I’m tempted to delay it until after my results but I’ll have to see how things line up.

I also got a letter saying I had missed my hysteroscopy appointment. I’ve phoned up and complained as I was never even told I had an appointment! She then said that I would be put to the bottom of the queue after 70 people. It’s sorted now though and I’ve got it booked in for 2 weeks time. Lots of unnecessary stress though. It’s just shocking how badly the nhs services are run.

Lozzlepop · 16/02/2021 19:23

Hi all,

Sorry for dipping in and out- the long days at my current job are allowing little time for anything else! A big hello to all the new ladies, I will recap as I haven't been on much, TTC for 26 months, had 4 MC, 2 natural and 2 MMC- all recurrent MC tests have come back as normal and currently not actively trying as we are due to get married on May 1st. On the waiting list for IVF but have also been offered a course of Clomid if we want to try this route first but still trying to figure out which route we want to go down!

@MIW01 @Kiza @Annny27 thank you so much! I have actually been working since I got made redundant from my last role so I have been very lucky- but so glad I will be back to doing more normal hours- the 5:50am alarms are killing me slowly lol!

@Kiza hows things? how are you doing? Wedding planning is going ok, I have done as much as I physically can until things start to reopen- having a slight panic about timings but just need to hold my nerve lol!

@XjustagirlX what is the procedure for the NK cells biopsy? Thats annoying they messed up your appointment but good its all sorted now!

AF showed up early this month, seems to be one month I will have a 26-28 day cycle then the next month will be 30days + up to 35, so strange!

So we have our first IVF appointment booked in for April 5th, was actually meant to be March but worked out the week after I start in the new role so felt a bit cheeky asking for time off so soon! It will be to test my AMH levels, not really sure what to expect but guessing its a good starting point but have told them we dont want to start treatment until the end of the year.

Hope everyone is will, hopefully from next week I will be able to be more active on here again!

XjustagirlX · 16/02/2021 20:46

@Lozzlepop the nk cells test involves a small tube going through your cervix and then they scrape off some of the lining. The procedure actually only takes 5 minutes but it’s quite intense. The gas and air does help a bit though.

Annny27 · 17/02/2021 20:58

Hi ladies! Af arrived today so cd1 again

Has anyone read "it starts with the egg" I am very focused now on trying to make my eggs the best quality they can be and have ordered a load of glass tupperware to reduce bpa exposure (@orangeloo I think you might be able to relate haha)

@xjustagirlx ah okay so kind of like her test in that sense!

@lozzlepop is the clomid to try and get the best possible egg? They have basically said to us that there's no reason we cant conceive.....fantastic haha.

@rmd124 any sign of AF?

@thislittlebird its so frustrating I know the nhs has so many rules to follow but it seems fertility is such a low priority to them. Did any doctor suggest cyclogest (progesterone suppositories for the tww to try increase progesterone)

@loki21 its hard ttc for so long:(

OP posts:
Loki21 · 18/02/2021 10:19

It is, still no af trying to wait a few days now to test again! I don't know how I will do that though but really going to try as I've read some people get negative results testing on the first couple of days when af us due but then get a positive a few days later 🤞

CycloGoose · 18/02/2021 10:52

Hi @annny27,
Sorry to hear about AF. I felt bummed and we've only been trying 6 months.
Not heard of 'it starts with the egg' but my husband baulks at the stash of nutrients on the counter. He doesn't like taking his.
Surely we'll get there.
I don't think there's any chance we'll get help on the NHS. I'll be too close to 35 by the time we've been trying for a year so need to put energy into being calm and collected.
I'll be so over the moon for any of you ladies. You've really been through the ringer x

Annny27 · 18/02/2021 11:16

@cyclegoose tell a little porky pie and say you have been trying for a year! Honestly after looking at what all we have been through in here I deffo recommend it!

OP posts:
Kiza · 18/02/2021 19:24

@CycloGoose deffo agree with anny, I fibbed and even then it still took forever to get all the tests done and an ivf referral. I just wished I'd fibbed earlier!

@Annny27 sorry to hear AF showed her face again, still doesn't get easier. I have read that book but certainly heard of it and also bought glass Tupperware and aluminium water bottles etc I reached a point of doing literally anything! My first scan is Friday next week when I'll be 7+2 and it's with the IVF clinic 🤞🏼 the bloating is unreal the last couple of days- literally look 5 months pregnant. Keep trying to talk to our little eggsy with some positive affirmations and telling him/her to stick around as my uterus is a cushiony dream home 😂

@Loki21 4 days past AF sounds promising. I'd be tempted to test again tomorrow.

@XjustagirlX wow that biopsy sounded nasty! If only you were allowed sedation...

XjustagirlX · 18/02/2021 21:44

@CycloGoose I lied as well. When I wasn’t pregnant after 6 months I just knew something was wrong so I went to the gp and said I had been trying for a year. I’m now nearly 2 years in and still not had all the tests (mainly Covid though)

CycloGoose · 18/02/2021 23:23

Oh ladies, I kind of wish I had but they know when I went off the pill... I've just got to hope we'll be the percentage that's just a bit slower. I just wish it was easier for us all. All this modern technology and something so natural still remains so hard and so complicated.
I feel like there's something wrong but I've been afraid of being unable to conceive all my life. Husband has no fear about it and has promised to get his act into gear more in terms of DTD. Perhaps we haven't been doing it enough/at the right time despite my best efforts.
Meanwhile, I guess we'll have to save up for private IVF.
I like the sound of a cushiony dream home!
A colleague of mine had IVF for her first baby and then got accidentally pregnant with her second. Another paid privately and ended up having identical twins!
Just going to keep chomping my supplements and hope for the best - maybe the Easter bunny will bring us all some fertile eggs!

Loki21 · 19/02/2021 09:58

I couldn't wait and did a test this morning but bfn 😣. I'm heartbroken, everyone on TV seems to talk about their children or being pregnant! I'm so worried we won't be able to have any. I've rang up the doctors though this morning just to see what, if anything we can do next. Hope we all have some good news at some point

CycloGoose · 19/02/2021 11:25

Oh @Loki21 I'm really sorry to hear that. Do let us know what the doctors say. I hope that it's a false negative for you.

I got a flashing smiley face on CB test today. Only CD7. I'm so confused. Wondering if it's highlighting something odd with my estrogen? Or maybe I'm going to have a short cycle this time? I went straight from blank to solid smiley last cycle so this seems very early. But I did have a random 24 day cycle last time. If that's going to be a the new normal, at least it means I get another 2 cycles a year to try, right!

MIW01 · 19/02/2021 11:48

Hello Ladies

So consultant called and congratulated me on how reassuring everything looks for me and fiancée and then dropped the bomb . . . I won't be prescribed Clomid! As I expected. We discussed my concerns about ovulation but as I expected, reassured me that all the tests indicates I'm ovulating and nothing abnormal detected on the scans. He explained that as it is clear ovulation isn't an issue Clomid would actually be detrimental as it thins the womb lining. Said the HyCoSy should improve our chances TTC. Fiancée's sperm all in good shape blah blah ready to go and get pregnant! Small problem . . . We haven't yet had a BFP in the almost 3 years we've been trying! So now just got to wait for referral in new area to go through. I've chased it as I don't want all our tests expiring yet again and then we need to go for a fourth round of tests! If this is the case My fiancée is hopeful they will have some "fresh material" for him in the new "room of shame" at the hospital . . . But let's no be so cynical here.

@CycloGoose I tried clear blue advanced digital for the first time last cycle and it went straight from blank to solid smiley for me! Apparently the 1st cycle it's jist getting used to your levels so I'm hoping to get a more progressive reading this cycle. We shall. On CD5 now will start testing from CD7.

Loki21 · 19/02/2021 12:09

@cyclogoose - thank you, docs said to get my other half tested so he will go for that next week and then see about a referral to infertility clinic. I mean its like my body is just being so cruel - no af and just bfn!
@MIW01 - hopefully you will get some sort of reassurance soon with everything

CycloGoose · 19/02/2021 12:28

@loki21 at least they're getting some testing done for you, which is a start! There's always a chance you've conceived still but sounds like a random long cycle just like I had a random short one.

@MIW01 HyCoSy sounds like advanced trigonometry! Hopefully that will be clear, too. Any suggestions of IVF? Unexplained infertility really perplexes me. Surely they can suggest something? Can they prescribe progesterone instead?

I'm more confused about the flashing smiley on CD7. I don't think I'm going to ovulate on CD10 seems very early to me but I suppose would be in line with another 24 day cycle.

I have a feeling my uterine lining is no good. I take ubiquinol but hasn't changed anything in terms of period flow or duration.

BTW Tesco has 3 for 2 on quite a few supplements

thislittlebird · 19/02/2021 14:33

@CycloGoose I don’t know if this helps, but I had a scan recently and my lining was fine. I had the scan because my periods had been so light for a few months I was convinced there’d be nothing in there. Turns out that’s not the case and my body is just playing tricks on me (stress is probably the culprit).

Speaking of flashing smileys, I use the CBAFM and first month it gave me a high from day 8-ovulation when it gave me a peak day 15/16. I assumed this was calibration issues. Maybe it’s not, since I have the same again this month so far.

I’ve ordered some magnesium which is supposed to keep your estrogen in check somehow, and some b6 to encourage progesterone. Would really like my hormones to behave themselves.

thislittlebird · 19/02/2021 14:35

@Annny27 no, so far no suggestions of anything. Just waiting for referral and trying to help myself in the meantime.
