Hello all, setting up a new thread for us old timers to keep up and stay sane on the ttc journey!

@thislittlebird sorry about your ankle. Did you find out what your appointment was for at the end of August?

@XjustagirlX I’m not certain but my understanding is it’s the one you have post funding where you discuss next steps.

They sent a form below the funding letter where you sign and they said we’ll be doing that in person on the 31st.

How is everyone else getting on? I’m just waiting for my period after egg collection. And then I can start transfer on the period after that. My cycle seems really messed up though.

@XjustagirlX so it’s the cycle after this upcoming one? Frustrating but it’ll come round fast.

Appointment was ok, said we can start ICSI in 2-3 months but I’m a little confused by it. Basically, I’ve seen 4 fertility slash ivf docs at this stage, three of them private, and all of those ones said I shouldn’t be overstimulated because I’m at risk of OHSS. At my Guy’s appointment this (young) doctor said I should be put on max dosage because of my age (38). She literally pulled up a chart and said blah blah in your age bracket. Yeah, well I don’t think everyone in my age bracket has high egg reserve??? It felt very impersonal. So yeah, I wasn’t thrilled at that when every other doctor I’ve seen has said low to medium dosage and quality over quantity is the goal. I had 38 follicles yesterday on my scan and I don’t want to throw max dosages at that, whatever my age is.

Like I get it, I’m geriatric now 🥴, but that runs counter to both my understanding of how high egg reserve/PCO is treated and my other doctor’s plans. Anyway, I protested because I was uncomfortable and she said she’d go for a lower dose. Now got to wait for the letter to come through to see what she’s suggesting and go from there.

Because we’ve got a 2-3 month wait we decided to try induced ovulation. So I rang up my private clinic today and they wrote me a Letrozole prescription which I’ll be starting tomorrow. I’m doing a monitored cycle with a trigger shot. Not cheap, but I feel like it’s better to use that time leading up to ivf on something that might work.

@thislittlebird you're absolutely right, I had to have very high dosage because I have very low AMH/ovarian reserve even though I'm only 35! So it really does depend on the individual. Also kept assuming I must have PCOS because I have type 2 diabetes but proved to be 100% wrong about that!

So I had 1 very high quality healthy blastocyst transferred on 25th August. Testing on Sundayb5th while I'm at Center Parcs, so that'll be fun! Will keep you all posted. In the end I responded very well with 9 follicles, 6 eggs, 3 fertilised and we got the 1 that made it all the way to day 5.

@thislittlebird yeah they should be looking at follicles first instead of age. See what the letter says when it arrives. If I were you if it isn’t the lowest dose then I would request another doctor review it as you don’t want ohss.

You seem similar to me. I had 34+ follicles on the scan (she gave up counting) and Amh of 45. I was given ovaleap 150 which is the lowest dose plus centrotide 250 (which is a standard dose for everyone).

No it’s not next cycle it’s the one after that. Basically I’m estimating egg transfer will be end of October.

@MIW01 that’s amazing. Only 3 more days to wait until testing. Do you have any symptoms? How was transfer?

@XjustagirlX thank you. I'm slightly concerned my temperature dropped a bit this morning. I've been monitoring it out of interest during this cycle and they were sky high at 36.98 yesterday and the day before, now dropped to 36.69 and I'm a bit concerned. My temperatures aren't ever reliable cause I don't sleep well but I'm still a bit concerned it's dropped a bit

@MIW01 I had to convert to Fahrenheit. But that is still a high temp. There will be little fluctuations there always is for me. It’s more to see if it is generally staying high.

@MIW01 been keeping an eye on you ladies and I'm absolutely keeping everything crossed for you!! I'm sure you can't wait to test day.

Just wanted to comment re temp. I was running very hot when I got my BFP. My temp started dropping after and I stopped as it was making me anxious. It got lower again than what's on the chart & I didn't log it. Things turned out fine so don't loose hope. Here is my chart from that cycle. Hope you're feeling ok!

Please stop taking your temp 😅 I would say it's due to not sleeping. After I got my BFP I was so anxious I wasn't sleeping properly so would defo explain it. I'll be checking back on Sunday 😊 x

Period arrived today so I am not doing well haha! Still no surgery booked, losing patience and mind :(

@thislittlebird yeah the OHSS risk is deffo applicable regardless of age! Seems silly of them. But hopefully you get a lot of eggs

Hi lovely ladies. I'm so sorry to butt in here! I've had a nosey on this thread and you all seem so lovely and helpful. Sooo... I am really looking for a second opinion here. While I know you're not all doctors or wizards... I'd just really like opinion!
I struggle with very very irregular periods so can't tell you any dates regarding my "cycle"... If you can even call it that
I DTD a few times 2 weeks ago (ish) and since have felt slight period cramps some days. Today I have been cramping a bit and experiencing pink ish discharge / blood. Not much of it but its there when I wipe. I've done some tests and a clear blue showed someting but I think it's an evap line. An asda cheapie showed no line at all. So confusing?!

So... does anyone think it could be possible? Photo of clear blue attached. ANY OPINIONS WELCOME

Hello ladies, so far testing has been a complete disaster! 3 inside tests! 2 CB digital with the book errors message on them so went to shop at Center Parcs and bought the only tests they had which were medisure midstream and that 1 was just blank! Not even a control line appeared! Then after a few minutes a very faint control line appeared but not the the clear line I'm used to seeing, there were also other random lines that streaked across the test so I have assumed this is also invalid!!! I'm going to give it 1 more go this evening then try again tomorrow . . . I have NEVER had this issue with pregnancy tests in the 3 years we've been TTC a clear control line or message has ALWAYS appeared! Fiancée and I feeling so upset, disappointed and angry that this has happened now!

I've also just found out that diabetes can affect pregnancy test results, noone has ever mentioned this to me before!

I'm also now bleeding . . . It isn't like what I normally get when I have AF but there is definitely red blood there as well as the darker and stringy stuff . . .

@MIW01 oh god that's so strange about the tests!! How disappointing!! Is there anywhere nearby you can get a proper test? Try not to worry about the bleeding, I bled on and off like that up until 9/10 weeks. Could just be bubs settling in 🤞🏼

Thanks @whatsthecraic91 that's reassuring RE the bleeding. I'm having to wear a pad as it's got heavier today, but a bit stop start . . . Not like usual AF at all! We bought the medisure tests from the CP shop and that's the 1 that was jist blank . . . No control line! I've got 3 more so I'll try again this evening and tomorrow morning with those 3. I've just ordered FRED s and a blood testing kit too after reading about the impact diabetes, high blood sugar in particular, has on the pregnancy test results!

@MIW01 sorry I can’t see the picture as it’s a bit blurred on my phone. Did you keep the tests perfectly level and didn’t move them? I have had that before with CB where it was invalid because I didn’t leave it alone. How many days post are you?

@MIW01 I think their maybe a faint line, you can probably see it more IRL? Get your hands on a FRER if you can!

@MIW01 are you leaving cp today? Hopefully you can get another test to confirm. What a nightmare testing scenario.

I can’t see anything but I also can’t be trusted with test viewing because I’m traumatised by them lol

@Annny27 yeah it’s so ridiculous to want to stick me on high dosage. Fair enough to consider it if I don’t respond first time but I don’t think that risk is worth it when they don’t know how I’ll respond.

I finish Letrozole today, no symptoms to speak of. Fingers crossed it does something and I’ll have follicles growing on my scan on Wednesday!

@XjustagirlX followed the exact instructions provided RE CB tests, very odd. I had the 5 day old blastocyst transferred on 25th August so yesterday was 10 days.

@thislittlebird we just got back from CP I honestly am flabbergasted that in the 3 years of taking pregnancy tests I've never encountered such a fiasco! Never had them just not work on me! Fingers crossed for you for Wednesday

So 2 more tests didn't work this morning. Impatiently waiting for Amazon to turn up with the tests this afternoon! Bleeding is much heavier now and red and gunky, going through pads as if on a regular period now so dont know what to think!

Did a FRER and a home kit blood test and both BFN 😪
