ELMcg · 24/03/2021 15:58

@bez91 thank you 😊 quite shocked actually, since symptoms were non existent. Just hoping it sticks!

Haha I told him and he was like for god sake 🤣. It was the weirdest thing. As I mentioned no symptoms and then I went out and walked the dog like I always do at lunch. He did his usual business and I honestly thought I was going to be sick at the side of the road! My sense of smell was ridiculous. I know it's too early for morning sickness but it was honestly unreal. I didn't even need a wee as I'd just been but I thought in my head 'this test is going to be positive' I was literally convinced. Within 30 seconds it was a BFP. Funny how these things happen isn't it?

Marvellouslymadmum · 24/03/2021 16:04

Oooh @ELMcg so pleased for you! So pleased you and @NatJ24 have got your bfp everything crossed 🤞🏻 for sticky beans and healthy pregnancies for you both!

On the morning sickness/sense of smell side It can happen pretty much straight after implantation as it's the rise in hormones that cause it and often the first pg sign for most, I just knew with all my pregnancies that they would be bfp it's weird isn't it!

vitaminb33 · 24/03/2021 17:06

Just sneaking back onto this thread so say congratulations @ELMcg and @NatJ24! What a amazing day of news ❤️🎉

justwant2beamum · 24/03/2021 17:33

Ahh congrats @ELMcg and thank you for sharing how many cycles post mc - this thread gives me a bit of hope 🤞🏻

elsimo · 24/03/2021 18:15

Aww congrats on the positives guys xx

NatJ24 · 24/03/2021 20:53

Thank you @vitaminb33 @elsimo and everyone. Its exciting but scary too!

ELMcg · 24/03/2021 21:15

Thanks all, same as @NatJ24 nervous excitement! 🤞I'm so hopeful for the rest of you ladies too! Really underestimated the power of OPKs!

Mamat90 · 24/03/2021 21:58

@Loll35 glad you're feeling okay with being back to cycle day 1, and it is so draining mentally and physically TTC that if you need a break you should take one!

But I think you probably are overthinking the hole fertility lube thing, nothing you could have done would have caused a pregnancy loss!

Do you track your ovulation with the strips?

bubblybrit · 24/03/2021 22:31

Congratulations to @NatJ24 and @ELMcg. Lovely news ladies 😀! Xx

Lollipop25 · 25/03/2021 00:36

Fabulous to see some BFPs 🤗 congrats @ELMcg and @NatJ24 👍

bez91 · 25/03/2021 05:45

@Loll35 not everyone notices ewcm before they ovulate. Mine fluctuates month on month. They fertility friendly lubricant wouldn't have made a difference in interfering terms, I have tried it once but if you don't use lubricant anyway I'd say probably not worth it.

Like @Mamat90 said you should take a break if you feel you need to, just to get into the right headspace. I think I will be doing just that next month if AF arrives too

OP posts:
ELMcg · 25/03/2021 07:07

@Loll35 I wouldn't worry too much about Ewcm I got mine at random times and didn't seem massively linked to ovulation . In fact on the day I ovulated and the day before I had very little that was noticeable and if it wasn't for OPKs I would have assumed I was past ovulation.

It's easier said that done not to overthink but maybe have a break for a month to regroup, it can be so tiring mentally and physically TTC, and never blame yourself!

Loll35 · 25/03/2021 08:36

Thank you @Mamat90 @bez91 @ELMcg I think you are right about taking a break. My mind works overtime on what could possibly be wrong with me and I just need a rest from the emotional side of ttc. Thank you for your advise and kind words!

@Mamat90 yes I do use cb opks and they appear to be bang on as my af always arrives 14 days after my peak. My stress levels are pretty high atm tho and I know increase in cortisole can effect conception so maybe I need to address that and get my head back in a better place!

MeganChar1 · 25/03/2021 08:48

Hi Ladies, wondering if I can join?
I had a mmc in January which devastated us as we saw a heartbeat at 6+5 at private scan but 12 week scan confirmed baby died at 7+4. I have an underactive thyroid which wasn’t properly controlled before but I’m now getting it under control. We aren’t ttc yet for a few months but I just want to make sure I’m extra prepared next time, as last time we got caught really quick and it was more just coming off the pill to “see what happens” so wasn’t tracking or taking preconception vitamins or anything however next time I will be doing. I plan to also get as much tested as possible through either nhs or medichecks failing that to rule out any possible issues which could cause miscarriage. I’ve tested my vitamin levels and also plan to test progesterone at the right time but is there anything else that needs testing?
Also I know it’s a bit of time away but I’ve also got major scan anxiety for next time, I honestly think I’ve got ptsd from finding out it was a mmc at last scan as my partner wasn’t allowed with me either due to Covid, and I’m probably going to need therapy when I ttc or get pregnant again. How do others deal with scan anxiety? My local EPU don’t do early scans unless you’re having pain or bleeding.

Norainnorainbows2 · 25/03/2021 08:53

Congratulations @ELMcg and @NatJ24 lovely news to hear!!

@loll35 I was thinking the same about my cortisol levels, and I think the mc grief and TTC fears makes them higher. I think it impacts my cycles too, Cd 34 for me today and I'm usually a very regular 28 days. Its a vicious cycle haha!

Right now this group is one of my relaxing activities, it's like therapy!! Hopefully I'll get back to some yoga classes when things start to open up again soon too.

Loll35 · 25/03/2021 09:15

@Norainnorainbows2 totally agree about the vicious cycle. My mind still goes over the mc and what happened etc and I'm so scared of it happening again. Need to find a way to deal with that some how.

@meganChar1 I'm so sorry for your loss. This group has been a real comfort to me as we have all experienced a loss and understand. Personally I have found the aftermath of mc quit challenging emotionally, mine was in Dec. Its a bit of a cliche but time has helped. I also go for a walk every day which has really helped mentally. I completely understand your fears of scan and I would honestly discuss with your gp if you feel comfortable to, they can refer you to speak to someone if you want to. Sending you a virtual hug x

Norainnorainbows2 · 25/03/2021 09:25

@MeganChar1 that sounds so tough to have gotten the news while at your scan and alone. After my mmc I had about 3 non pregnancy related scans so by the time it came around to having a pregnancy scan I didn't even associate it with pregnancy if that makes sense! Take care of yourself and talk to someone, maybe if your going for other check ups in the meantime let your doctor know how hard it was and that you are feeling anxious.

I went to a new gp when I thought I was having another mc and I cried my eyes out to her about my fears! What you're feeling is normal and let yourself feel what you need to feel!

I also can't go back to the hospital I had that MMC scan in, I change hospitals for my pregnancy with my ds, I think helped too.

Marvellouslymadmum · 25/03/2021 10:01

@Loll35 sorry you're feeling like this, a break could def help to reset though and I'm sure it's good for the stress levels, we put ourselves under so much pressure with ttc 😕

@MeganChar1 hi, so sorry for your loss it's very hard to try and say about the scan anxiety but honestly when you get your bfp again if you're feeling that worries I would just book another private scan. I would suggest getting your iron tested if you haven't already but it could've just been related to the thyroid so you may be lucky now it's getting under control

MeganChar1 · 25/03/2021 10:56

@Marvellouslymadmum I think I will end up getting an early scan again but they also freak me out a bit because at the private one baby appears straight away on big screen and just the idea of possibly seeing baby there without heartbeat really freaks me out. I think I’ll try get at least one through EPU next time, but I’ll try and wait til 8 weeks as that will be slightly further than before. Last time there was a real lack of clarity over dates because I’d just come off the pill and didn’t have a proper period apart from my withdrawal bleed before catching so I ended up ovulating really late. Next time I’m going to track so I have more clarity about dates at least.

@Norainnorainbows2 as it happens I’m actually having a hysteroscopy tomorrow because they think I’ve got retained tissue, but I’m going to ask them to have a good look as well to rule out any other issues, I’ll explain how anxious I am about it happening again as well. Unfortunately I don’t really have the option of changing hospitals as my hospital is the only one in the area for maternity.

It’s gotten to the point where I can start to think about trying again and planning ahead although we won’t actively try for a few months yet. But that in itself has brought more worries. Although we got caught really quick last time I worry this was just a fluke and we won’t get caught as quick again next time. Does anyone have any experience with this?

Also I’m researching the best supplements to take and start taking ASAP. Because I have an underactive thyroid which I’m also trying to sort out some supplements are also important for this as well, there are a lot of fertility supplements that also help thyroid but it means I need the better quality higher strength ones. Has anyone tried Zita West before as these seem to be the best quality ones from my research so far?

Marvellouslymadmum · 25/03/2021 11:26

@MeganChar1 it's difficult and you'll probably still feel anxious and nervous no matter what you do 😕

We had a mc in June/July 2017 then waited for a short while before ttc again in April 2018 since then we have had 2 cp and another mc so yes unfortunately it can be a big gap between bfp but don't be disheartened as some people are lucky again quickly, we have other issues involved as I have very low iron, I'm 41 and my partner likely has mf issues too.

On the vits front I would definitely check with your doc due to the thyroid issue but I take -
Pregnacare conception
B6
B complex (high strength)
C
D
E
Epo
Ubiquinol
Plus a high dose iron prescribed by the docs, I also drink pomegranate juice, upped my protein intake, eat whole slices of fresh pineapple in the fw (including the stork) and just started seed cycling too.

I've added all these things gradually over the last few months to try and improve things oh is also on lots of vits too.

Doing everything we possibly can to improve things!

SamBass · 25/03/2021 11:40

Hello all
Im looking to TTC after MMC can anyone recommend some any opks? :)

justwant2beamum · 25/03/2021 11:57

Hey @MeganChar1 sorry to hear. I had a mmc too, found out on 1st March. I have long worried about my thyroid as always cold and tired, dry skin etc. Did your GP test you after your MC? I'm scared to ask in case they say no.

MeganChar1 · 25/03/2021 12:12

@justwant2beamum I was diagnosed with Hashimotos disease with my thyroid about a year ago which causes underactive thyroid, but I just took my medication and didn’t think anything of it really until pregnancy and then mmc. But I now know my TSH level was 5.5 when pregnant and it needs to be under 2.5 for pregnancy. I would recommend asking your gp because when I was diagnosed I was just feeling tired all the time so they tested everything x

bez91 · 25/03/2021 13:30

Welcome @MeganChar1 sorry you find yourself here though. Unfortunately the shit reality seems to be that there is only support the more MCs you have had. I've had 2 the last being a MMC that required surgical intervention. My local EPU have said they'd probably rescan me if I fall pregnant again but they all differ so private seems the only way. I try and concentrate on the here and now rather than what could happen in future, any scans etc as it only exacerbates anxieties.

Anyone testing soon?
