As the Post Pill Party Mosh Pit dies down... sweaty and bewildered, the ladies head to the bar to freshen up. Suddenly, a fiddler bursts onto the stage, beginning a merry tune. Everybody swings into an energetic Ceilidh!

Our heads are spinning, our bodies are knackered but we arent giving up dancing when the music is this catchy!

This is the 8th post pill party thread for women whose bodies don't know the correct dance steps after hormonal contraception. Raise a dram to combating delayed ovulation, flabberghasting follicular phases, loopy luteal phases, bizzare temp charts and OPKs whiter than a Scotsman's bum!

@LauraT94 the best part was there was woman trying bras on in bravissimo and she running out in a bra in a sheer panic (or she saw her perfect opportunity to nick it) 😂Honestly wierdest day of my life 😂 wow you are a busy lady!! How do you fit it all in!
Also I’d love a kitchen extension, its a big kitchen but I’d love it it be bigger but there’s planning restrictions on these dam old houses 🙄

MissC07 · 21/02/2021 22:21

@LauraT94 Your cat is gorgeous! Hope you managed to eat your dinner without getting any nicked off your plate 🤣

Good luck with the kitchen refurb! Our current kitchen has bright pink neon splash-backs and diamanté glittery countertops from the previous owners... 😱

ChinChilly · 21/02/2021 22:24

@MissC07 I feel like i need to see this kitchen

Kay00 · 21/02/2021 22:27

Ladies... don't even get me started on kitchens 😆😆 my kitchen is beyond rubbish! It doesn't even have any cupboards! Its just a wooden frame with large pieces of slate on top. All my food is kept in boxes... its just awful 😩😆😩😆😩😆

We plan to replace it (and decorate the whole ground floor) towards the end of this year/early next year... depending of whether I get pregnant!

@laurat94 I love your cat 😍😍😍 im actually much more of a cat person than a dog person... despite owning these two doofus'!

ChinChilly · 21/02/2021 22:32

@Kay00 kitchens are so bloody expensive we’re looking at around 15k for ours 🙄 your two doggos look shocked at your cat person admission! I’m defo a dog person, OH loves cats well just animals in general we call him Dr Dolittle 😂

TheDaydreamBelievers · 21/02/2021 22:34

@LauraT94 honestly, I've actually tested the last 2 days because... because I'm a crazy person? But yes, total blanks

I'm an animal lover overall. DH is allergic otherwise would have cats. My family all has wonderful hounds, and if it would work with our jobs we would definitely have a couple of those

MissC07 · 21/02/2021 22:46

@ChinChilly I wouldn't want to inflict a migraine on you just before bedtime 😂 If I ever get a BFP I'll make sure I post it against the splashback for added shock value!

@Kay00 Your doggos are so gorgeous! I really wanted a whippet when we were looking at getting ours but we ended up with little miss sassy pants below.... 😂

Post Pill Party - The Ceilidh
ChinChilly · 21/02/2021 22:51

@MissC07 😂😂 please do! Your doggo defo looks like a sassy pants!

This is my little ginger ninjer! Typical greedy lab but he’s a sweetheart

Kay00 · 21/02/2021 23:25

@missC07 @chinchilly your doggos are so gorgeous 😍 I love seeing the pet pictures!

We haven't even started pricing up the kitchen yet. Its a large space but needs complete renovation (new walls, floors, gas pipe moving, fire place opening up etc etc.) So it will cost us heaps! Plus my expensive taste for handmade oak shaker kitchens 😆😆😆 i might need to settle for less.

ChinChilly · 21/02/2021 23:34

@Kay00 ours was around 15K just for the kitchen units and appliances 😭 but we will need new walls and the floor feels like its got a few dips in so the floor needs looking at 🙄 houses are just money pits!

minipilling · 22/02/2021 06:16

Update: yep, it's my period! Glad it's unmistakable now but wallowing a bit (and tired, and in pain). Had a wobble last night as my symptoms suck so much, can I really do this for x amount of months ttc? And pregnancy would probably be unpleasant for me as well. I feel a bit like a failure biologically, that I can't handle this natural process. I've just had so much pain I'm tired of it!

Enjoying the reno discussions. We had our bathroom done before Xmas and it's tiny but amazing! It was a total mess before and we put up with it for two whole years. Hopefully kitchen next when it's safer to have people round (keeping Covid secure with workmen in the house was such an added stress!)

Juno231 · 22/02/2021 07:39

Loving the reno chat! We bought a fixer upper in Oct last year - it's not been touched since the 60s/70s basically. Our kitchen has pine wooden paneling so whenever I'm on a zoom call people think I'm in a sauna! Just finalised our floor plans so we're hoping to do phase one this year of loft conversion and new 1st floor bathroom + redecorating.

Next year will be a complete remodel of the ground floor - including a side return wrap around extension for the kitchen, adding a loo under the stairs and dividing the current dining room in half - where one half will be incorporated with the living room and the other half will be a utility room.

As for kitchens - my friend flips houses a lot and she recommends diykitchens - much cheaper than eg a howdens one but really good quality (check insta for lots of their pretty kitchens). I'm also tempted by an IKEA kitchen as they're meant to be great but just a fraction of the price of other brands. Plus they do interest free credit?

@MissC07 @Kay00 I agree that pics of your kitchens might be needed 😂

Well I'm CD7 and my temp has finally dropped today. It's gone from 36.61 yday to 36.19! Starting to get a bit nervous about the hsg on Friday...

LauraT94 · 22/02/2021 08:09

I'm definitely more of a cat person than a dog but I'd also love to have a dog one day! Maybe in like 10 years or so. But I've grown up with cats and I love a good lap cat to snuggle with! Georgie is definitely a snuggler haha.

@Juno231 omg I'm with you on the 70s house that hasn't been touched! Luckily no sauna paneling here but it was riddled with asbestos that cost us £6.5k before we could even move in 💀

I've been a bit confused the past few days as my cervix was definitely open and quite high! But was medium firm. But I wasn't sure if I was just 'misreading' it and maybe it wasn't actually open... It was!! Can tell because this morning it's definitely high, firm and closed. It's interesting to feel the difference. No idea what this means for where I'm in my cycle but at least I now know I can tell what my cervix is doing 😂 OPKs still negative although RHR has jumped up for some reason!

Sperr · 22/02/2021 08:12

@LauraT94 what a cute cat! I’m so tired- I had such an awful nights sleep! I was so hot I couldn’t fall to sleep and then I was just having weird so realistic dreams when I did. 14po for real this time (what a shitting cycle I’ve had).

I’ve got some soy isoflavones coming for the next cycle though to hope I can try ovulate sooner.

How’re you? X

ChinChilly · 22/02/2021 08:20

@Juno231 the house reno sounds amazing, I really wanted a wrap around extension to the back of the house but the LA doesn’t allow them on doesn’t allow them 🙄 ours is a typical victorian L shape floorplan

@minipilling sorry AF is being such a cow!

I had a tiny temp rise this morning but my RHR looks like it does before AF rears her ugly head so who knows!

Morning ladies.

@minipilling sorry to hear AF got you xx and that you're struggling with the pain so much Sad it does indeed sound very rubbish. Is it worth speaking with your GP about pain management?

@LauraT94 annoyingly the only way to know what has happened is to keep testing... at 10/11DPO i'd hazard a guess that it was a false start and ovulation will happen towards the end of this week x

@Juno231 haha loving the retro wood panelling. My step-nan has some pretty awesome wood panelling going on in her kitchen... it'll probably be back in fashion on day... very much like the avocado bathroom suite Grin.

I'm not sure I can share a picture of my kitchen... it's actually quite embarrassing as the walls are a dirty yellow and the old owners painted random flowers etc on the walls. It looks really very awful!

I'll share a before and after of my bathroom though which was done last year... I genuinely LOVE it. The before (bright pink) pic gives you an idea of the decorating style of the previous occupants Grin haha!

@Kay00 you’re bathroom is stunning 😍 sounds like the old owners loved abit of colour 😂 our bathroom is floor to ceiling beige tiles and they really bother me more than they should 🙄

minipilling · 22/02/2021 09:03

@Kay00 unfortunately there isn't much more my GP can do on that front as I'm TTC so she suggested I not take codeine, mefemenic acid etc in case I fall pregnant :( have to stick with my paracetamol (I can't take ibuprofen for other reasons too). I have an acupressure mat (which again I should only use until I get pregnant), plus hot water bottle / heat pads and ice packs so that's as good as it'll get for me!

Juno231 · 22/02/2021 09:21

@Kay00 wow that looks amazing! I'm so jealous - I don't even have a bathtub! Just a grotty shower that I'm pretty sure is leaking into the floor so I'm scared of what we'll find... There's def a leak in the roof somewhere as well so we'd better work on that 20% contingency before we start the work! Our bathroom is tiny - we're adding a foot to it out of bedroom 3 just to be able to squeeze a bath in...

@LauraT94 apparently only our lean to has asbestos but we'll need to get that removed as part of the kitchen reno next year. In the meantime we have ceiling tiles in several rooms which is an absolute fire hazard lol.

@ChinChilly what?? I didn't realise anywhere would disallow them still. We've got the same shape victorian, it's so impractical lol. Makes it super easy to find inspo on instagram though as all the layouts are the same!

abi555 · 22/02/2021 09:26

@Kay00 I love your new bathroom!! So beautiful. I'm planning to do something similar with ours currently. Can I ask what type of floor you have? It's lovely!

@MissC07 OMG your doggo is so cute!

@Emmgrem Thank you. Really appreciated your post!

Well, my temp plummeted this morning, so I reckon that confirms AF is on her way. Looks like have had a v early chemical this cycle. It's definitely been a rollercoaster of emotions with the am I/aren't I debacle. Feeling sad this morning, but taking the positives that at least it looks like something happened, so hopefully in future cycles we will get a stronger BFP.

Juno231 · 22/02/2021 09:32

@abi555 I'm so sorry it looks like AF is coming! Like you said, it's brilliant your body knew what to do and I don't think it's bad to know about the CP just in case you need that info in the future. Fingers crossed that means next cycle is the one!

ChinChilly · 22/02/2021 09:32

@Juno231 our LA still does, can only extended outwards so to just extend the ‘L’ which is useless 😂 I don’t think this is our forever home anyway so I’m not sure how much more money I want to plough into it, we thought about remortgaging and getting the kitchen and bathroom done in a couple of years to make it easier to sell. I don’t really like the area anymore. With all the HS2 stuff people have started snapping up the houses and turning them into ‘professional’ HMO’s as we are a stones throw away from the train station. Once any of our immediate neighbours sell up we will probably be off too I think.

Kay00 · 22/02/2021 09:41

@minipilling damn, i'm so sorry to hear that. Does exercise or stretching help at all? Or have you tried meditation for pain control? xx

@abi555 hugs I'm really hoping AF doesn't show. If she does, then please take care of yourself xx these are difficult times xx

Ref. the tiles, they were not even that expensive. They are ceramic wood effect tiles for Walls and Floors (online) and we have underfloor heating too Smile.

@Juno231 I spent 2 whole years having a bath every single day in the 'angry pink' bathroom, and it was super grotty and cold... I hated it. Just keep focused on the end goal... I really is worth it in the end (even if it cost me about £10K with the new boiler too ahhh!!!)

BTW I love the idea of a wrap around kitchen extension, unfortunately there is no room for us to do that in our house as we only have a very small courtyard garden. The old 2 storey extension (build in Victorian times) is the utility room and the bathroom you see in the above picture.

@chinchilly If my original bathroom was floor to ceiling beige tiles I would have honestly just kept it. It was only because I was so gross that we have the full renovation in that room xx

Juno231 · 22/02/2021 09:56

@kay00 making a note of the tile company! Our garden is small so we can only extend a meter each way (to the side and back) but luckily I think that will be enough to make a difference.

@ChinChilly This isn't our forever home either. We bought it for the potential to make money - the same houses down the street with the renovations done sell for 300k more. Saying that, we might have to stay here a lot longer than planned because of the covid impact on the market...

Speaking of gardens - I spent the weekend weeding and I can't believe how happy I am still to have a garden! We were in a 1 bed flat before so this is my first little garden and I can't wait to do it up properly. Atm it has a huge shed in it that legit takes up 1/3 of the garden but there's not much point us doing anything with the layout as it will all be ruined by the kitchen extension... In the meantime I'm browsing hydrangeas, dahlias and bee friendly flowers on Sarah Raven like a madwoman...

ChinChilly · 22/02/2021 10:05

@Juno231 this house was abit of a money making thing for us, we brought it from a family member who lives abroad (still at market value) we made a out £60k just knocking the front wall down that was restricting the driveway, taking up the care home style carpet and painting the walls! I’m hoping to get out in the garden this weekend!

@Kay00 personally I think you should of kept the pink 😂😂
