Early BFPs

Hi, does anyone want to come and keep me company? Currently ttc#3 and I don’t know how many dpo I am as my cycles have been a bit unpredictable for the last year but I’d say between 8 and 12 dpo at a guess. I had a chemical in September and a miscarriage at about 6 weeks in early November. This month has been the first month we started trying again and I wasn’t going to test early but after feeling knackered and iffy all weekend I did an impulsive test last night before bed and got the faintest squinter ever. This morning I tested again and got a faint but definitely there positive that my phone camera managed to pick up 😬.

I don’t even want to tell DP yet as the last 2 BFPs didn’t stick. I don’t know what do do with myself today in between homeschooling and the kids have picked today to be really motivated and not needing much help from me.

In reception even if they were in school they mainly learn through play at that age. DDs teacher last year said let them play and draw, read to them as often as you can and throw in a few phonics videos or CBeebies programmes and they should be fine.

I don’t understand why you have to fight so hard to get the medication which can a) help you actually be able to retain some sort of nutrition and hydration and b) enable you to manage your daily life and continue to work without risking total burnout.

Oh bless you @Leonberger and @Secretsquirrelisfedup
My sickness feeling is mild compared to yours and I’m struggling.
Maybe a few days off ‘sick’ would help @Leonberger...
@Secretsquirrelisfedup it sounds like you’re job is homeschooling- which you can’t really take a sick day from....
Have either of you tried peppermint tea?
I think the sickness is a good sign - I didn’t have this with either of my losses - so although it’s the pits, it’s things cooking!
Fresh air helped me yesterday - we went out (I didn’t feel like it) just to the wilds of some parkland, and I sat on the floor while the kids made a hedgehog house. Just half an hour of that gave me some respite. X

Secretsquirrelisfedup · 21/02/2021 15:29

@Lisyloo725 I’m hoping that if I bribe the kids and point them in the right direction, then they will concentrate and crack on so that I don’t have to do as much.

I love peppermint tea and it does help a little bit but I’m not drinking too much of it because I read something that said not to in the first trimester and I am massively risk averse at the moment.

I’m clinging on to it being a good sign and just hoping it doesn’t last the whole pregnancy.

Morning ladies! Just to let those considering an early scan know- I had one today (6+3) - because I had an ectopic previously so they do it as a matter of course, and all is well with this one.
You could see the heart beat. The sac. The fetal pole. And there is only one in there!! Phew!
One hurdle down - next thing I’m looking into is the NIPT testing as I’m 40 👵🏻...
Very exciting that I’m only 4 weeks away from finding out the gender (we didn’t with DC1 or 2)...and, I think, having seen the heartbeat, this is a good sign.
I’m just unsure whether I can start up tuning again - I ran weekly before I was preg - just 5-10k...anyone got any advice on that?
Sending luck and well wishes all x x

Lisyloo725 · 22/02/2021 12:41

*running (not turning)

Secretsquirrelisfedup · 22/02/2021 13:16

@Lisyloo725 that’s amazing news 😁. I’m afraid I have no advice on running as my running skills are similar to Phoebe Buffay’s. How are you finding out the gender so early?

I feel so much better today than I have the last few days, I actually managed to sleep a bit last night and it’s made everything else seem so much more bearable.

daisyorange2 · 22/02/2021 13:53

Ah @Lisyloo725 that is such lovely news, I am so pleased for you. As for the running, I am no expert either but from what I have researched/read if you are a runner then you should be ok to continue your usual routine, and to just be careful about hydration/overheating/stopping when it feels too much. But obvs I am no doctor. Tbh I am trying to refer to the NHS site only as much as I can as you can find all sorts of scary stories/answers elsewhere.

I had a tough weekend, felt very worried last night (think as I have no sickness) which I know is silly as it has no indication of how things are progressing. None of the women in my family has ever got sickness in pregnancy so trying to just count myself lucky right now.

Finding comfort in being past the 6 week mark meaning the miscarriage rate drops considerably. Just can't wait for that 8 week scan!

Hope you're all hanging in there! x

Secretsquirrelisfedup · 22/02/2021 14:57

Hi @daisyorange2 sorry you had a tough weekend. I’m feeling similarly optimistic about getting to 6 weeks.

Hi everyone!
Glad to hear all is well!
I’m just counting down the days until my scan on Sunday.

I’ve been wiped out and vomiting most mornings. Strangely I’m fine if I’m well rested but if I’m tired it really kicks off and I can’t keep anything down Confused
I’ve slept for 5 hours today which is not like me at all, I’m normally really active! I exercised all through my last pregnancy from the second trimester and it was fine, I was too ill during the first.

I’m still worried though despite the vomiting that there’s nothing there Hmm I think I would be worried either way!

Lisyloo725 · 22/02/2021 21:08

Hey @Secretsquirrelisfedup and @daisyorange2 thank you for the cheers earlier! Mini milestones! 🤞🏼🤞🏼👌🏼
I’m floored by the tiredness - but the sickness has gone a bit since worst day on Saturday - the day of one million belches!!! (Sorry!)
Sorry that you’re feeling like crap Daisy- up and down hopefully - rather than all crap. Can you find a snack that makes you feel a bit better? I’m drinking sweet tea (don’t usually sugar it) and jelly teddies....getting me through at the mo. Everyone has their thing I think...be kind to yourself and just go with what you feel like/need x
@Leonberger I think you’ll be absolutely fine on Sunday if your actually being sick. It’s a sign of lots of hormones - not just a few - so sure you’ll see your little blob on the screen very soon!

Siennajay · 23/02/2021 09:16

Hi Everyone, I got a Bfp on Friday (11dpo) and have had positive that look pretty much the same for the last 4 days. Do you think it could be a chemical pregnancy?

Secretsquirrelisfedup · 23/02/2021 09:41

Hi @Siennajay sorry that you’re having these worries. Have you got a picture of your tests?

It’s all over here again Sad

Started spotting on Saturday, bright red bleeding this morning. I have an early scan anyway on Thursday at the EPU so I’ll just wait it out without calling them.

Made it to seven weeks both this time and in December but wasn’t meant to be Sad

Secretsquirrelisfedup · 23/02/2021 10:02

Oh @Hoplop I’m so sorry Flowers

daisyorange2 · 23/02/2021 10:54

@Hoplop I am so sorry, sending you massive hugs. xxx

Hoplop · 23/02/2021 11:42

Thank you @Secretsquirrelisfedup @daisyorange2

I’m at my desk just crying (private office and most staff at home thank goodness!). I came in for a change of scenery and to focus but it’s just not working. I can’t leave though or the skeleton staff in will see my puffy and blubbery face ha ha!

Leonberger · 23/02/2021 11:45

I’m so sorry @Hoplop Sad

Lisyloo725 · 23/02/2021 12:06

So so sorry @Hoplop 😘😘

Secretsquirrelisfedup · 23/02/2021 12:18

@Hoplop if work isn’t helping maybe stick a mask on and make a break for it. I think tree pollen starts about now if you wanted to blame hay fever. X

OP posts:
Leonberger · 24/02/2021 08:33

Hope your feeling ok Hoplop.

I’m not having the best of days over here.
My sickness stopped, my boobs don’t hurt any more. I was stupid and retested and the line is much fainter than before. Feel like this has got to be bad Sad

daisyorange2 · 24/02/2021 09:13

@Leonberger I'm sorry you're feeling rubbish. I have heard that testing past 6 weeks can make the lines inaccurate (hook effect I've read about). As for symptoms, I think it's normal for them to come and go. I've felt worries like this a few times and they've always come back! Not long to go now until your scan and I am sure you'll feel relieved after that. Sending love x

Secretsquirrelisfedup · 24/02/2021 11:04

Sorry you’re having a worrying day @Leonberger. I hope it’s just a blip. Virtual hugs x

OP posts:
Leonberger · 24/02/2021 11:26

Thank you both of you. I’m obsessively thinking about why I’m not being sick and actually feel good Hmm

I’m just holding out for Sunday now, seems pointless ringing the EPU when there would be nothing they would do anyway!

Secretsquirrelisfedup · 24/02/2021 12:02

@Leonberger I had a day a bit like that yesterday and convinced myself of all sorts, the sickness is back with a vengeance today though. My tests are also a bit lighter than they were. I don’t think that’s a huge problem at this stage though, I know one of the ladies in a group I’m in took a test the morning of her scan at 7+2 and it was miles lighter than the last one she took but the scan showed a healthy baby with a strong heartbeat.

OP posts:
Hoplop · 24/02/2021 13:01

@Leonberger so sorry to hear about your worries. Such an awful few weeks for everyone on tender hooks.

I ended up rearranging my EPU scan as I felt so ill with it and just wanted it over with quickly. Turned up virtually crying already and then absolutely could not believe it when they saw a 6wk 6 day embryo with a hb! Shocked is the biggest understatement! Still lightly bleeding but they think it’s coming from a haematoma next to the sac. Rest and no exertion prescribed!
