@notyetamumbuttrying thank you, I'll have a look.
I told my oh that the doc has recommended we dtd 3/4 days a week, he seemed to take that on the chin (poor guy will be exhausted after a couple of weeks) 😂 but I've noticed a slight change in his libido - let's say he's often 'up for it' when I haven't even suggested anything yet! does anyone know if the wellman conception could be responsible? I wondered if sperm improvement could have this effect 🤔

Crazydoglady123 · 18/02/2021 13:45

@Marvellouslymadmum mines a week into his Wellman and woke up and woke me up in the middle of the night to DTD the night before last 🙄

Marvellouslymadmum · 18/02/2021 13:58

@Crazydoglady123 😂 maybe that's it then! Well at least he won't be moaning at me for wanting to dtd all the time

notyetamumbuttrying · 18/02/2021 14:06

Might have to get mine back on wellman then 😂 although he does suffer with premature ejaculation so I understand his lack of initiating now. I never really noticed he wasn't lasting too long as we tend to sort me out before having sex. And then I don't really care how long it goes on for. Plus I get pain when it's deep anyway cos of stupid endo.

OP posts:
Marvellouslymadmum · 18/02/2021 14:18

@notyetamumbuttrying mine suffers with little ejaculation (not a lot and doesn't really go far 😂) which is another reason I'm worried about his specimen! And can sometimes be rather quick too so we tend to do the same, but I'm hoping with the wellman it'll improve quality and hopefully quantity too! I'm looking into anything else I can give him to go with it now haha

notyetamumbuttrying · 18/02/2021 15:48

@Marvellouslymadmum ahh how interesting. I never knew this was a thing! Mine has loads of semen (his volume was high) but barely any sperm in there. He jokes that they're all drunk and can't find their way lol! Hopefully they've improved with the cutbacks. If he's on wellman that's good enough, you could try and get him to take coq10 in addition (it's already in wellman) but have heard additional coQ10 is good to do. Also vit c, d, e and zinc. You could try the herbal route too. Google herbal remedies and you'll see what I mean. They're too long to remember the spellings. 😂 Maca root springs to mind though!

@notyetamumbuttrying I've no idea what the technical term would be for it just know he doesn't produce a lot but then if there plenty of little guys in there it won't matter 🤷🏼‍♀️ we think that it's due to an ongoing condition where he gets an infection in his epididymal tube all the time which means it can be twisted or partially blocked but as it's been going on for over 15 years he's reluctant to go and have the docs poking around down there! I've told him he may have to if it's that causing issues. He already takes the extra vit c,d and zinc will check the e and someone else mentioned macca rout today actually so will look into that too! I'm getting some extra coq10 for him as well haha

Marvellouslymadmum · 18/02/2021 16:42

@notyetamumbuttrying I found this in Holland and Barrett - not cheap though

TTC 12 months and longer!
notyetamumbuttrying · 18/02/2021 17:20

@Marvellouslymadmum no, none of their supplements are cheap. If he gets an infection in his tubes all the time, that probably is the issue. Will he get a referral to a urologist who will be able to sort him out? He prob needs surgery to fix and then it could all be resolved and you could try naturally. Would save a fortune in ivf costs and/or a long wait on the nhs list!

OP posts:
Marvellouslymadmum · 18/02/2021 17:23

@notyetamumbuttrying if he asks the doctor I'm sure he will get referred, it's one of those things where they don't always offer surgery but the fact he has to have antibiotics a few times a year for it means they probably will do it for him. He's a nightmare with going to the docs, always worried they'll find something bad 🙄 I'm trying to convince him at the moment

notyetamumbuttrying · 18/02/2021 17:33

@Marvellouslymadmum good luck working on him. Just show him the bigger picture and how it could all be resolved if he just sorted this one issue. Good luck 🤞🏾

@notyetamumbuttrying thank you, I do hope he will come round. He may do if they do an sa and tell him his results aren't good, I think he's just hoping it will happen without him being fiddled with!

Motherofkittens28 · 18/02/2021 18:35

@kerrym87 as long as you aren't on AF they can do the hycosy, just if you have it after day 14 you can't ttc that month as they won't do it with any possibility of pregnancy. I had mine on day 18 or something, it was annoying to miss a month of ttc but I wanted it done and clearly we had next to no chance of conceiving anyway!

Motherofkittens28 · 18/02/2021 18:41

@notyetamumbuttrying out of interest i remember you saying you took Coq10, how much do you take? I've read a study where the participants took 600mg a day and fertility seemed to improve, im taking 400mg now but previously was only taking 200mg, its not under medical advice so hard to know. Interestingly the ivf nurse didn't tell me to stop taking it but did tell me to stop the DHEA because there haven't been enough studies on the effectiveness of that.

Crazydoglady123 · 18/02/2021 19:02

This is really interesting as I read 400-600mg for fertility. I bought some with really good reviews but they're only 200mg a day but it says not to exceed the recommended dose. What'd be the harm in taking more?

notyetamumbuttrying · 18/02/2021 19:07

@Marvellouslymadmum yeah I can appreciate that. Mine sorted himself out ASAP once he got his results and realised what a twat he'd been smoking and binge drinking whilst we were ttc!

@Motherofkittens28 just one tab a day so 200mg I think. I've heard taking 600mg is best too but I don't. Especially as our issue is male factor. Interesting about the dhea, I stopped the vita dha months ago. Think it's similar?!

Crazydoglady123 · 18/02/2021 19:21

@Marvellouslymadmum men are rubbish are getting themselves treated. Mine freaked out about his blood test and testes ultrasound 🤦🏽‍♀️

Marvellouslymadmum · 18/02/2021 19:29

@notyetamumbuttrying that's what I'm hoping he will be like, we barely drink anyway but he is still smoking though he has cut down. 🤞🏻 it'll be the kick he needs! @Crazydoglady123 they really are! And then sit there worrying about the issue 🤦🏼‍♀️

Crazydoglady123 · 18/02/2021 19:34

@Marvellouslymadmum I hope he makes steps to get it sorted for himself, without the whole TTC issue on top. Testicular torsion surely alone would want him to get it sorted. I'm not sure if it was just my IVF clinic, not sure if yours said same @notyetamumbuttrying, but they said on the webinar they have to screen each patient first for (if I remember right) things like HIV. My OH was sharing the airpods with me listening and took his out at that point and went off in a total strop saying "that's it, I'm not doing it" blah de blah de blah! I literally could not believe him...all the stuff is women have to go through for IVF and I got that reaction because of a measley blood test. Men 😤

Marvellouslymadmum · 18/02/2021 19:48

@ 😂 aren't they a nightmare!! To be honest I've given up trying to force him to go get things checked most of the time! He had a torsion in his late teens and certainly doesn't want another one and I think that's why he's a bit sensitive about the area, he also suffers with ibs and has had issues with that but refuses to go check them out! Luckily that's been ok for quite a while now 🤞🏻 it stays that way

Marvellouslymadmum · 18/02/2021 19:49

That was supposed to be @Crazydoglady123 lol

notyetamumbuttrying · 18/02/2021 19:56

@Motherofkittens28 sorry one tab is only 100mg so that's all I take a day. Just checked!
@Marvellouslymadmum they'll go mad at him for still smoking. They can abide drinking a bit but smoking is a massive no no, especially if you're gonna do ivf.
@Crazydoglady123 wow what a reaction! Mine is fully on board now, he wants a baby pretty desperately now so is thankfully going along with it all without much fuss. I think that now he knows the issues lie with him, he's just doing all he can now with minimal fuss. Thankfully 😅
