Had my Afc done today and she wasn't giving away a thing so I asked if she was allowed to tell me anything 😋 she wasn't but was surprised that I didn't have a follow up arranged with my consultant to feed back results and that they couldn't give me a date for hyscosy as they are still doing them in radiology so I should still be able to get a slot in theory.....🤔

Theawkwardblonde · 13/02/2021 17:13

Thanks for the well wishes everyone. Work have put me off this set of shifts until they can figure out what to do. It's too risky for them to have me at work in my normal role. I wasn't going to say anything, however my supervisor rang to say I was getting my covid jab today 😳 had to decline despite being on the wait list for weeks. Made for an awkward conversation as didn't want to say anything until a few weeks. Realistically giving the job I do they should have been told straight away, I just don't want to jinx things.
Naturally I'm stressed to bits now 🤣

notyetamumbuttrying · 13/02/2021 17:29

@MIW01 hmm I'm stumped then!
Look up the clinics on the hfea site. Live birth rates are the best indication of a good clinic. I'm going with care London.
@Crazydoglady123 glad acupuncture went well! Yay go no pain during sex! Enjoy Valentine's Day! Not sure on those vit's hun.
@PeanutButterBrownies thanks! It's been nice so far. He got some nice pressies from me 😁 and a chocolate cake so he's content 😆
Ooh your Valentine's Day sounds lovely 😊
@Annny27 have my nhs appointments next week and week after so it's really happening now, eek 😬 hope the nhs treatment works for you guys!! 🤞🏾
@kerrym87 annoying she was giving nothing away but good you should be able to get a slot!
@Theawkwardblonde replied on the other thread but having re-read it on here u must have told them! Hope they were ok?! And hope the stress alleviates x

Thanks @Anny27 & @notyetamumbuttrying no way we can afford to go private for IVF but I remember reading a post where someone said they paid £80 for AMH . . . I was just thinking even if NHS don't accept the tests of doing for my own information just to try and get a better understanding of things

notyetamumbuttrying · 13/02/2021 18:46

@MIW01 yeah you can get amh home testing kits for £79 through medichecks. Superdrug do them x

OP posts:
Crazydoglady123 · 13/02/2021 18:56

@MIW01 I ordered a HCG blood sample kit from these guys the other day (have it but haven't used it yet) but they do AMH medichecks.com/products/anti-mullerian-hormone-amh-blood-test

Hannah154 · 13/02/2021 21:04

@notyetamumbuttrying no I don't, I've been offered it cos I'm asthmatic so I think it's worth me going for it with DH going out to work every day and then seeing the stories on the news of pregnant ladies that ended up delivering premature after being in ICU with it scared me towards it a bit. But like you say the way they changed their mind makes me wonder. I feel like there's a risk either way!

@kerrym87 and @Narwhal88 thank you both for letting me know your clinics opinions it's helped put my mind at risk a bit! I think it is a case of covid could do more harm in my case and I'm not likely to get pregnant for months anyway, particularly if we end up going down the IVF route. I'll be around 9DPO when I get it which isn't ideal timing but there's very little chance I'd be pregnant so I think I'll just do a test in the morning before I go. @Narwhal88 wishing you the best of luck for your transfer 🤞🏼

notyetamumbuttrying · 13/02/2021 22:26

@Hannah154 very true with the risk either way but the risk of getting Covid and suffering with it is probably higher than it affecting fertility or a foetus. I'm glad the other girls have put your mind at ease.
Good luck for tomorrow x

@MIW01 which brand have you been using?

Marvellouslymadmum · 14/02/2021 13:04

@Theawkwardblonde congratulations they look like great positives! 🤞🏻 this is your sticky bean

Yutes · 14/02/2021 16:58

I think I’m just constantly waiting for my period to arrive and it never does!
I’m almost 1 week post norethistorone and I haven’t had any sort of bleed yet.

MIW01 · 14/02/2021 20:07

Thanks @Crazydoglady123 I'll look into it

@Dogmum13 the cheap OPKs that measure LH surge only are the One Step off Amazon. The Clear Blue Advanced Digital measures oestrogen as well

AF arrived today so this cycle length is more standard

Dogmum13 · 15/02/2021 01:17

@MIW01 yeah I've been using easy@home and recently switched to clearblue advanced Bluetooth ones. I get peaks every cycle with no issues but never had a bfp sadly

Annny27 · 15/02/2021 10:52

Sorry to make this post me me me but just wanted some feedback. Just got off phone with nhs fertility- because of my miscarriage (nov 2019) they cant offer me ivf untill nov 2021 even though we started trying nearly 2 years ago, it has to be 2 years since the last pregnancy even if it wasn't successful.

Sooo they said they can do HyCosy test for me next month (after my next period which will be end of March) and then after that in April we are thinking we will do ivf privately?

Is anyone else toying between doing ivf privately or waiting for nhs

MIW01 · 15/02/2021 11:23

Oh @Anny27 I'm so sorry to hear this after everything! Am I right in thinking you have time on your side? If we could afford private we probably would but unfortunately it's not an option for us right now. The only thing I can say for the othersode os if you do have time on your side November will come around quickly and that money can be put aside for your baby?

Annny27 · 15/02/2021 11:26

I'm 29 (turned 29 last month) so perhaps I will see what my AMH is like and then take it from there? @MIW01

Thats so true! Perhaps it is worth waiting and then spending that money on maternity pay (the difference between what I will be making on maternity leave vs normal pay)

Crazydoglady123 · 15/02/2021 11:31

@Annny27 I was referred to an NHS infertility department and although we're not eligible for IVF, I did have a Hycosy, lots of bloods then they have been trying Letrozole and now Clomid on me. I personally would go down the NHS route first. Get these checks done and if they offer you Clomid or Letrozole try it. If they don't work for you then November will be here in no time. You're a few years younger than me and no one in my area gets IVF funding so we've booked to start privately with IVF next month however I have had a good 6 months plus being treated on the NHS

Motherofkittens28 · 15/02/2021 12:00

@Annny27 I agree with @Crazydoglady123, I always knew I wasn't eligible for ivf on the NHS as the cut off is 35 where I am, even so I got every test I could with them to make sure ivf was the answer before I committed to it. You will only end up paying for the same tests privately if you don't have them on the NHS anyway and it could be they discover a reason for the lack of pregnancies that is easy to fix!

Annny27 · 15/02/2021 12:06

@crazydoglady123 @motherofkittens28 so we have already had sperm analysis, blood tests, hormonal profiles and ultrasound on the nhs with no issues found so the next step is hcosy which I will have next month and then its IVF so we have already have the initial steps and the doctor today said they haven't found a reason so far 😭

How come you arent eligible crazydog?

@motherofkittens28 how are you feeling now ahead of your next scan?

Crazydoglady123 · 15/02/2021 12:11

@Annny27 even a Hycosy though you have to pay for with IVF so I'd at least just go for it and see what comes back. If there's a problem with your tubes then at least you can have it treated/fixed possibly on the NHS.

I already have a child from a previous relationship although OH has no children but regardless my area the NHS scrapped any funding for ivf so even if I had no children then we'd still have to pay.

Annny27 · 15/02/2021 12:18

@crazydoglady123 yeah I am going to get the hycosy on nhs next month :)

Thats really rubbish that even if you didnt have children there is no nhs funding. That's really awful. I hate this postcode lottery for fertility!!!

Motherofkittens28 · 15/02/2021 12:34

@Annny27 I'm trying to put my worries about number of follicles out of my mind until next Monday when I'll know for sure how many there are. I've started getting some side effects from the stims I think, im very tired and feel a bit dizzy and light-headed, very glad this is my last week of work for a while! Im focusing on trying to eat the right things, apparently protein is key for egg development in these two weeks and pomegranate juice to help you develop a good lining.
Its nice to be able to talk to you guys about it, my friends just don't get it really as none of them have been through ivf and I feel they get bored of my ttc journey. Its on my mind constantly so I struggle to stop talking about it!

notyetamumbuttrying · 15/02/2021 13:30

@Annny27 how annoying! Yes we're between the two now, and have our nhs appointments this week and next week. Our private ones are in March. Depending on what the nhs say next week about the wait times, we'll be going private from March. Hoping to start icsi end of March at that period. Have you looked into private clinics yet? Hfea is a good Website to start initial investigations x

@Motherofkittens28 sorry to hear about the side effects but glad it's nearly over for you. It's great having you guys to share things with, it's just so alien to anyone else who gets pregnant at a drop of a hat!

OP posts:
MIW01 · 15/02/2021 15:46

That's insane @Crazydoglady123 about the lack of funding! I'm still so angry that they took so long going through our tests that we were no longer eligible for funding in one area AND lied to us about it throughout as we kept raising our concerns (cut off is 35) we've now moved to an area where the cut off is 40 so have breathing space thank goodness. We have to go through NHS for IVF as just don't have the funds atm to go private.

Sorry to hear about the side effects @Motherofkittens28 I hope it turns out they are all worth it! I've got a few friends who are going through/gone through IVF and have warned me about them. I know I am very luck to have that and @notyetamumbuttrying it is so annoying all my family are fertility factories and my family is made up of unplanned pregnancies so we just assumed we'd have no issues! What I'm finding most fumrustrating is so far we are unexplained!

Hayley19835 · 15/02/2021 17:47

@Annny27 we had a lot of our testing done through the nhs including genetic bloods (which are bloody expensive private) for my OH as we have MFI, as he already has a child from a previous we aren't entitled to nhs ivf so will have to go private but we have found that a lot of the tests we need the nhs have done for us it's frustrating as I have no children but it is what it is and I'm grateful for all the nhs did for us. We have one more apt with them on 9th of March to go through final details/results then it's off to the private clinic we go.

Sorry to hear your getting side effects @Motherofkittens28 keeping everything crossed for you for your scan!

AF due in 3 days here so again we are in that waiting period which drives me insane every cycle!
