@Narwhal88 the AFC is the follicle count so sounds like you have had yours. Acupuncture is good. I'm a bit weird and liked the needles in my hand and feet 😂 it was just one of them in my abdomen I wasn't so keen on and not really in a it hurt way (can't really describe how) but I think although everyone says I have a high pain threshold, I am really sensitive/in tune to any pain or twinges in my pelvic area. Are you excited to start your IVF cycle? Is it your first one? Sorry if you've already told me 🙄

Crazydoglady123 · 12/02/2021 20:43

My poor OH tonight was not keen on his new tablets I've bought him and was trying to put off taking them until I reminded him when we start IVF he needs a blood test. He is petrified of blood tests and quickly didn't mind starting his fertility tablets 😂 How are men such wimps and yet we have to endure so much! I've lost track of how many blood tests I've had the last couple of years

Narwhal88 · 12/02/2021 20:48

@Crazydoglady123 ah yeah I think I have had the AFC then they just never told me 😂 yes this is my first IVF, I was so excited when I got the call to start last week! I'm trying to stay in the excited bubble and not think about what can go wrong.
I used to hate needles but I've gotten used to them and they don't bother me now. I also have a high pain threshold but we will see! Trying not to think about the needle part of acupuncture, I agree the pelvic area is more sensitive, like when you get a bikini wax I guess 🤣.

In case anyone is interested I got an email from Care today with a brochure on their new funding options. I have attached the pricing.

Theawkwardblonde · 12/02/2021 21:10

Hello all. Been a tad quiet due to feeling poorly this week with a weird bleed before AF. Have done some HPTs and surprisingly they're positive. We aren't getting excited yet due to my history of early miscarriages so just keeping fingers crossed 🤞🏻

@notyetamumbuttrying I bought clear blue advanced digital and used for the 1st time this cycle but it says it can take a couple of cyes to learn your rhythm as it were. I went straight from low to peak on CD14 ! Not sure if that's reliable.

Annny27 · 12/02/2021 21:51

Ahhhhjjj congratulations @Theawkwardblonde :D maybe speak to GP about progesterone suppositories to prevent another miscarriage?

Motherofkittens28 · 13/02/2021 08:20

@Theawkwardblonde tentative congratulations! Very much hoping it sticks!
@notyetamumbuttrying I'm not sure there is a defined good number but up to a point the more the better. I'd say 30 is a good number, too many more and you are at risk of OHSS which can mean an abandoned cycle or having to freeze everything for use later as OHSS is dangerous. I'm at no risk of that with my measely 5!
Just about to do my first stims injection, this one has a special injection pen to use and i found the tutorial really confusing so im getting my DP to prepare it for me.

@Crazydoglady123 wow going for it! Hope you get the miracle bfp before ivf starts that we always read about! X
@Narwhal88 yeah weird huh 🤔 I've not had my afc scan yet but the fact she counted follicles would indicate that it was?!
@Theawkwardblonde I congratulated you on the other thread but will do it on here too! Congrats 🥳
@MIW01 they're the best on the market so I would take their reliability over others!
@Motherofkittens28 good luck 🤞🏾

@Narwhal88 definitely! I've just clocked on your username too and we're the same age!

@Theawkwardblonde congratulations! I have everything crossed it's a sticky bean 🤞

@notyetamumbuttrying can all but try hey!

Annny27 · 13/02/2021 09:27

@motherofkittens28 another thread I am on, a woman only had 2 eggs collected......one fertilised and became a good embryo and now she is pregnant :D so 5 if a great number!

Tofu35 · 13/02/2021 09:30

@theawkwardblonde some lovely news for the thread! fingers crossed for you Flowers

Motherofkittens28 · 13/02/2021 09:38

Thanks @Annny27 let's hope they all grow and contain mature eggs! My next scan isn't until 22nd, which feels like ages away! Egg collection currently booked for 26th as long as all goes well.
First stims injection done and was fine. For anyone else going down the ivf route honestly the injections don't hurt at all as long as you get them in the right place, I barely feel them go in. You inject just into the skin or fat so its nothing like a blood test for example. I get my DP to prep the dose and I inject myself as I'd rather be in control of the process.

MIW01 · 13/02/2021 10:27

Thank you @CreativeThinkerTequilaDrinker I start testing when bleeding stops about day 7. So this cycle I've tested twice a day every day woth the one steps and there's been nothing detected at all. My temperature has dropped today which is CD 29 so I know AF is on her way. Before I had my HyCoSy in November my cycles were regular 28 days on the dot but now off following that. I've never had regular positive OPKs

Thank you @Dogmum13 I've been doing OPKs on and off over the past year. I've had standard blood tests and been advised everything indicates I'm ovulating but no regular LH surges detected on OPKs

@notyetamumbuttrying I'm going to go by what the advanced digital says next cycle as hopefully it will pick up more accurately then. Just read that the 1st can be off. Just very odd that no LH at all detected this cycle

Hannah154 · 13/02/2021 10:32

Hi ladies! Sorry I haven't been on for a while - work and the new housemate (who currently has covid!) has been keeping me busy so trying to catch up on the thread. I feel like there's been a lot going on since I last posted!

@theawkwardblonde congratulations that's amazing news, I hope it's a sticky one for you🤞🏼.

Anyway my busy bubble has been burst slightly as I have been invited to get my covid vaccine which I've booked in for next week. I've seen all the scare stories in the news/online about it potentially affecting fertility and my friend has been on at me about it. On balance I think it makes sense for me to get it and so does DH but also we don't need another hurdle on this TTC "journey"! Has anyone on here had it yet or had any advice from their clinic about it? Our appointment isn't until 1 March so feel like I can't really ask them in advance!

notyetamumbuttrying · 13/02/2021 11:34

@Crazydoglady123 someone has to get it! I hope it's all of us ♥️
@Motherofkittens28 22nd is when I get my amh tested and Dh gets his repeat SA. It's also bojo's announcement so let's hope it's a lucky day!! Good to know the injections don't hurt. I've got plenty of fat to choose from too 😂
@MIW01 have you had your day 21s done before and did you get above 30? I wonder if you have pcos? That can throw off opk's.
@Hannah154 tough with the vaccine, I personally wouldn't but apparently it's fine to have whilst ttc now. The thing that puts me off is that they said it wasn't to start with, but now it is 🤷🏾‍♀️ do you work with vulnerable ppl? Hope your housemates ok x

OP posts:
MIW01 · 13/02/2021 13:00

@notyetamumbuttrying definitely no PCOS! I have been through all tests at least once . . . I've now had 3 day 21 progesterone 2 came back well above 30, 1 was 28 but I think the timing was slightly off. I've had ultrasound, hysteroscopy, HyCoSy several blood tests to check ovarian reserve, FSH etc. I was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes 1 year ago and now take metformin but definitely no PCOS I'm not overweight or inactive and eat well etc. No signs of early menopause or anything

I've been reading that some of you ladies get tests done privately rather than wait for the NHS. I'm considering this and wondered how you go about it?

Crazydoglady123 · 13/02/2021 14:25

Had my acupuncture this morn and wasn't no where as bad as I remembered it to be! Booked in for next Friday which will be CD11 so before I ovulate (hopefully!) Also DTD today and it didn't hurt so hopefully my cysts are gone 🙌 The OH can have a good Valentine's Day now 😈

Can I ask, what vitamins are meant to alter your cycle length? I've bought MyOva (myo-inositol, folate & chromium), vitamin b tablets and omega 3 tablets but don't really want to risk making it longer. I think the idea of MyOva is to help regulate cycles from what people have said on Mumsnet

kerrym87 · 13/02/2021 14:46

@Hannah154i asked fertility clinic and they said more risk from covid than vaccine. There isn't actually anything happened to say it does cause a problem more that there isn't anything to say it hasn't either if that makes sense. Cant be proved either way I had mine and second booked March x

PeanutButterBrownies · 13/02/2021 14:48

@Theawkwardblonde tentative congrats! Fingers crossed it sticks, hopefully you're in a position to take things easy for a few weeks?

@Tofu35 hope you're feeling better now?

@MIW01 I use the expensive Clearblue OPKs because I tried the cheapies and couldn't make head nor tail of them! And I like the flashing smiley... I've been using them for a while and some months I just never get a peak - I don't think it means you're not ovulating, I think the tests just aren't 100%, I didn't get a peak on the month I got my blood tests done and the blood tests said that I did ovulate. I think doctors are quite skeptical of them tbh but mine said "if it makes you feel better to use them then go for it!" lol

@notyetamumbuttrying hope you have enjoyed DHs birthday! Grin

Valentines plans here are a big fat indulgent sunday lunch (beef wellington, yum!), a few drinks and some lingerie! Hope you girls all have lovely plans!

MIW01 · 13/02/2021 15:15

@PeanutButterBrownies with the cheapest this isn't jist not getting a peak . . . This is nothing at all! They aren't detecting anything!

I'm going to use the Clear Blue Advanced Digital next cycle from CD7 and hope I get something!

@Crazydoglady123 I'm going to try acupuncture once I get my first vaccine which will be soon hopefully as I am in a vulnerable group. Be very interested to hear how you get on with it?

Narwhal88 · 13/02/2021 15:17

@Theawkwardblonde congratulations and I hope this is your sticky one 🤞🏼

@Crazydoglady123 yes I am 32 🙂

@Motherofkittens28 good to know about the injections! What meds are you on? I will be on menopur and fyremadel.

@Hannah154 I had the vaccine 3 weeks ago. My clinic (Care) were advising people to get it if offered. You don't need to prevent pregnancy and there are no concerns. The stories about it affecting fertility are all made up bullshit. The reason they originally said not to was because of a lack of data as they aren't going to test a vaccine on pregnant women. I think more data came out once people started to get the vaccine so that's why it changed. The issue I have now is my 2nd dose is due the week after my first transfer is planned for so I'm going to delay it as i worry it could affect it (from the immune response).

Motherofkittens28 · 13/02/2021 15:33

@Narwhal88 I'm on 375ml of ovaleap and 25ml of buserelin, was also on 50ml buserelin for the last 2 weeks to downregulate.

bikerclaire · 13/02/2021 15:54

Hi all, our DD turned 4 in October and been TTC since around mid '18 but I was doing my post grad then so wasn't trying hard till '20. I had been buying the dirt cheap ovulation tests from pound shops (which seemed to work before) but was getting 100% negative for about 4 months before trying some ones with good reviews off amazon and bingo got a positive ovulation result in Nov and each month since, now I'm two days late, waiting for some 'sensitive' pregnancy tests to be delivered this afternoon as the regular ones I did two and one day pre-period (I know!) were negative and I'm normally very regular and get a small spot couple of days prior but nothing yet, not a hint of blood. Fingers crossed that the bottle of wine in the fridge will be given to my sister instead of being had on valentines day!

Annny27 · 13/02/2021 16:24

@MIW01 you would need to speak to your l
Fertility clinic and ask them which private practices they would accept results from and then you can approach the private clinic :)

We have just been looking at finances and our local fertikity clinic do an access Fertility package of ~9k so we are working towards setting that money aside/ saving up 🙌🙌 hopefully it doesn't come to it and nhs treatament works 🙌🙌🙌

@notyetamumbuttrying its coming around so soon for you now! March wow 🥰

@Motherofkittens28 we will be keeping fingers crossed for you! Yeha I bet waiting in-between scans is like a billion tww times haha
