@notyetamumbuttrying yeah that's our aim for this cycle. We don't put pressure on ourselves just aim for something and see how we feel at the time. I want to buy either preseed or conceive plus applicators for this cycle but don't know which to choose 😬

Marvellouslymadmum · 09/02/2021 22:39

Hi @RaidersoftheLostAardvark I'm 41 as well my partner is 39 but both have imminent birthdays. I'm waiting for a blood test to check I'm ovulating ok 🤞🏻 and trying to persuade the docs to do an sa too

MIW01 · 09/02/2021 23:39

@Dogmum13 that's madness as we got told once every 2-3days for the exact same reason!!!

kerrym87 · 10/02/2021 06:16

@Motherofkittens28 were debating private but its 9k for a cycle plus meds and 500 for hyscosy theres only 2 options where I live (presumably because the NHS provision normally is so good when it's not covid!). They also wont accept any tests like AMH, hormone profile, ultrasound from any other NHS or private clinic! I mean, way to rake in even more money when they're charging 170 for a simple blood test.....

Dogmum13 · 10/02/2021 08:18

@MIW01 yeah I'm so confused and don't know what we should be doing now 🤦‍♀️

notyetamumbuttrying · 10/02/2021 08:22

@Dogmum13 I think they're much of a munch ness so just go for the cheapest 😂 we used preseed and it was fine.
@Marvellouslymadmum hope they do! Best of luck with it 🤞🏾
@MIW01 there's loads of different schools of thought on this, so just do what you're comfortable with x
@kerrym87 wow that's a pisstake! Sorry hun 😔
Cd3 and co-codamol has changed my life! The pain actually goes away now, amazing! 🤩

@notyetamumbuttrying they're both the same price 🤣 I'll read some more reviews tonight and decide

@kerrym87 that seems a bit high, do either of the clinics work with access fertility as they do packages? My access package which is two fresh and unlimited frozen cycles is £8k and the drugs for my first cycle were £1,800. On top the AFC scan and first consultation were £250 and then blood tests for HIV and stuff like that were another £150 each, it massively adds up. Our clinic said that the liked to do their own tests but would accept NHS tests if done relatively recently, might be worth pushing them on that.
Also worth considering if there are any clinics a bit further away, you will probably have to go there about 7 times in all, ours is nearly an hours drive so its annoying but not impossible.

notyetamumbuttrying · 10/02/2021 11:53

@Dogmum13 lol I see! Yeah good shout, or go with what @CreativeThinkerTequilaDrinker said and use preseed. And we defo need more research on it. We did it twice in one day before and it made no difference to us 😂

Marvellouslymadmum · 10/02/2021 13:09

@kerrym87 that does seem extortionate! I've had a look at the prices around here and they're definitely more reasonable. Do you have a care facility near you? They seem pretty competitive price wise and there's lots of options on payments too

kerrym87 · 10/02/2021 13:47

@Motherofkittens28 @Marvellouslymadmum I'm in north east and it looks like all care places are at least 2-3hours away if not longer. Might have to look further afield and I will push for them to accept recent result being a nurse I can legitimately argue the value of the tests! we've only just started looking but at this place the second and 3rd round drops to only about 1700 per round thereafter....cheeky buggers. Might have to look further like aunderland, newcastle it's just the distance fitting around shifts and the ME. I was thinking of going to clinic purely for consultation and hyscosy but that would be 1700 too. Its all a bit unknown and overwhelming but I'm going to see if NHS clinic will outsource to a private hospital at least just for the hyscosy...

notyetamumbuttrying · 10/02/2021 14:03

@CreativeThinkerTequilaDrinker frightening how desperate we get 😂
@kerrym87 oh I hope they will darlin! You need to save where you can don't you.

X

@kerrym87 that sounds like a good idea, there must be other options.

RaidersoftheLostAardvark · 10/02/2021 20:27

Hi all, I've been taking Boots conception multi-vit & Co-enzyme q10 - not sure there is much of an evidence base for it but why not! OH not on anything & hasn't had a SA- but we conceived our first very easily which makes me think unlikely to be a major sperm issue (I'm aware this may be very flawed logic) plus OH not entirely sold on having a second so unlikely to take supplements! He is overall supportive but would happily stay as we are. Will see if I can get a zoom consult with local fertility service- not sure if they are open for self-funding patient right now, and websites very geared towards IVF which I don't want (low success rate at my age, plus I just don't think I could mentally hack it).

notyetamumbuttrying · 10/02/2021 20:36

@RaidersoftheLostAardvark that sounds good though. Perhaps get some macca root powder and sprinkle it into his cuppa every morning. A consult sounds like a good idea though, I'm sure they'll see self funders as it's money making! Let us know when you get an appointment, good luck 🤞🏾

AF arrived today (3 days late) and it's a doozy- spent the morning throwing up and sweating. Had to email my boss and say I was taking the day off, so I'm going to crawl back to my bed with a hot water bottle and some ibuprofen to get rid of these cramps. Fucksake.

Annny27 · 11/02/2021 10:29

Uhhhh I have those kind of period once in a blue moon @tofu35 not in a few years thankfully but I had one a few years ago where I was throwing up, burning up, diarrheoa and it was a late period. The doctor actually said it might have been a chemical pregnancy (we weren't trying so I wasn't testing but it was weird that my period was so late)

kerrym87 · 11/02/2021 10:30

@Tofu35 si sorry, it's a shitter isn't it! I find codeine helps too, hope you feel better soon.

I've just contacted clinic to see if they'll at least refer me to get investigations done privately as they're still doing fertility treatments it's just the investigations they're struggling to do. Secretary is going to talk to fertility coordinator to see where were at before we go private or to see if they'll refer to private hospital for hyscosy. Probably wont get anywhere but I'm trying! Nearest care clinic is 109 miles away so may be an option.

Also.love my job on special care but when I get home it's so hard at moment just feel low and overwhelmed with everything.

Tofu35 · 11/02/2021 10:44

@annny27 if it wasn't for the period symptoms, I would have thought I had norovirus 😅 always love sitting on the toilet and debating if I could be sick in the bathtub! I only have AF like this once in a blue moon, but it really shows how volatile our bodies can be at times.

@kerrym87 that's good the secretary is checking your options, but sorry to hear you're feeling overwhelmed with your job :( xx

notyetamumbuttrying · 11/02/2021 17:45

@Tofu35 so sorry hun, that's so shit! Hope it's better tomorrow. I'm cd4 so pain has stopped for me at least and it's been really light today. Reckon it'll just be spotting tomorrow at this rate.
@kerrym87 sounds like such an intense job, especially in this climate! Hope you get something sorted with the clinic soon.

I had a VM from the hospital today, called bk but she'd gone home for the day! It was the scheduling team so it's blatantly to cancel it. 😣 so frustrating because we need those tests in order to do the private consultation so it either means delaying that or paying them to do amh and SA too. Feeling very fed up and deflated now. 😒
Hope everyone else is having a better time at the moment?!

@CreativeThinkerTequilaDrinker haha don't tempt me! 🤪
Hmm doubt it. I'm on a guys and st Thomas thread on here and they've all had their appointments cancelled so I was half expecting but half ignored it too, proper head in the clouds vibes 😂
Just spoke to hubs and he's like the fuck the nhs 😳 we'll go private for it all! He's worse than me with the waiting around now 😆
Are your appointments all nhs? X

Husband got a call from his GP surgery about the latest round of SA results. It was the receptionist he spoke to so she could tell him all results were 'satisfactory' but couldn't tell him the numbers over the phone. So he's had to apply(?) to get the results so he can have them to hand for our fertility appointment next month. He has visibly relaxed about the whole thing because 'this must mean my levels have improved so there's no male factor issue anymore'.

Oh for the confidence of a man! It'll be a few days for the results to be sent, so I'll send an update when I know! The last test had 2% motility, so any improvement there would be excellent :)
