I'm looking at buying either preseed or the conceive plus applicators. What would everyone recommend? We already have a tube of conceive plus but nothing for the inside if you get me 🤣🤦‍♀️

Tofu35 · 09/02/2021 10:40

@dogmum13 we use preseed- although just used it internally once (this month!).

AF due today, so I ignored the sore boobs and twinges of cramp, did a test because i was feeling optimistic. BFN of course!

Marvellouslymadmum · 09/02/2021 11:40

@Fern346 thank you, I really do go from one minute thinking it could all be down to me because of my age to the next minute thinking it could be male factor as he was also told when he was younger that his samples weren't great but he can't remember exactly why and went on to have two boys after that! Then I think maybe it's both and no matter what we do it may not happen for us. But I'm going to talk with the doc about tests today and hopefully that'll let us know where we stand fertility wise and we can see what we can do 🤷🏼‍♀️ I'm hoping they will look at the epididymis when they do the tests anyway as he's reluctant to do anything about it - it's a sensitive area lol

kerrym87 · 09/02/2021 11:46

Sorry to hear that @Tofu35. @Fern346 feel for you, my best friend now on her 4th and 3 people (colleagues and a distant cousin) have all had their baby within the last 10 days. Luckily (not for her!) my sister went through all this but sadly unable to conceive due to horrendous pcos so she is quite supportive but don't want to go on about it all then time although it's so hard to forget about it despite yoga, meditation, crafts, hobbies with hubby and talking to him. Just found out I cant get my laparoscopy and dye for a while and they have no idea when as their theatres have been used for covid for months and they've been told that it's likely March is out.
It's so uncertain as we already left it a little while to get referred as clinic was shut 6 months and through no fault of our own we are in limbo. I am a nurse so know it's not life threatening or even an illness but I feel so hopeless right now and in our area privately it would cost as much as some of you have said you can get assisted conception Sad

Motherofkittens28 · 09/02/2021 11:54

@kerrym87 its tough, I was due my Laparoscopy for endo this month but when I phoned the hospital at the beginning of Jan they told me everything was being cancelled for covid. I'm glad I haven't waited for it, that was the original plan but now I reckon this IVF cycle will be over before I even get the letter for the appointment.

BrightSideRightSide · 09/02/2021 14:05

Hi everyone, would you mind if I join the thread?

This has been an amazing resource - so much useful info on here!

We've been TTC for about 14 months now and no sign of anything near a positive. DP is about to do his first SA and I have blood tests scheduled for next week. We struggle to DTD too many times each month - DP has a skin condition that flares up after too much fun!

Similar to a lot of you, it feels like social media is full of people falling pregnant at the moment, seemingly without any trouble. It's definitely a test of patience to take it all in my stride.

PeanutButterBrownies · 09/02/2021 14:20

@Tofu35 sorry for your BFN - I know what you mean about feeling optimistic. Why do we do this to ourselves every month? I've decided to try not testing until AF is late by over 3 days from now on. But let's see how that works out Hmm

@Fern346 Well done for organising the baby shower - I'm sure it will be wonderful and hopefully you'll get giggly with a few drinks and make some lovely memories :) I totally feel what @Yutes said about being happy for them and sad for me - very wise words. I started watching Bridgerton this weekend after seeing all the chat about it on here, I didn't really think it would be my thing but I'm somehow on episode 6 and can't stop guessing who Lady Whistledown is!

CD11 for me and just checked my app and expecting to be ovulating on Valentine's day! We never normally do anything for it as we're not particularly romantic people but I think I might have to do something special this year - especially given that it's lockdown as well.

Marvellouslymadmum · 09/02/2021 14:56

Ok ladies I have my call with the doc this afternoon - are there specific tests I need to be asking for it so I just ask about having tests to see how fertile we are? I mean I'm pretty sure she can't refuse from what I've read we are still entitled to tests just not ivf or anything, so it'll be a good start (really wishing we had down this ages ago though)

@BrightSideRightSide welcome to the group, I know what you mean about the dtd my partners suffers with a couple of conditions meaning that sometimes we only get there 2-4 times a month and others will be a lot more! It's frustrating for me, especially when he isn't in the mood or is in pain around the fw but I do understand. And I know what you mean about all the pregnancy announcements - they're everywhere 😖 even every program I watch on tv someone's taking a test or is pregnant! It does get to you

Marvellouslymadmum · 09/02/2021 17:03

I spoke to the doc and she's going to book me in for my day 21 test which I believe from other posts on here will me the progesterone one. She did just say don't worry and try to dtd 3/4 times a week even when you're not in the fw. The fact that we've had 2mc means we are fertile but possibly due to age as to why we had the mc (I'm presuming the egg quality test will be a good one to take for that?) she didn't seem too worried about getting my partners sa at the moment either but I think I'll just do this one then start bugging for others lol

Theawkwardblonde · 09/02/2021 17:08

Sorry-been on dreaded nights so just catching up with all the posts.
@Fern346 welcome! We're a cracking bunch here so you're in good company.

@BrightSideRightSide hello and welcome!

No updates on me. AF hasn't arrived after my random red bleed, although got usual light brown spotting so no doubt will be on her way. Due in 2 days. Paranoid the red bleed may have been implantation and that I'll have another chemical. I feel like absolute rubbish and have for a week now. Absolutely exhausted. Just been coming in from nights and sleeping right through to the next shift. Off food too. It's not covid (tested neg). Just really out of sorts. I'm a regular exerciser and only had one workout in the last week too. Trying not to stress, just want proper AF to arrive now.
Hope everyone is well and staying safe!

MIW01 · 09/02/2021 17:29

Hello Everyone

I'm also a long-timer. TTC since 2018. Never had a BFP. And to say it's a trying journey so far is an understatement. I've just swapped CCGs as the previous 1 took so long to refer us that I passed the cut off age for IVF funding (35) which they were completely dishonest about but that's a long story. The new CCG funds up to the age of 40 so we are OK but we are now having to repeat a lot of stuff and having a nightmare transferring notes. So far we are both completely healthy other than me having 2 long term chronic conditions (ME/CFS and diabetes) we don't drink or smoke, are healthy weight and exercise and live a healthy lifestyle.

Regarding age, we've been told that women were having babies well into their late 30s and 50s throughout history, just they started earlier rather than waiting. So age isn't the be all end all they make it out to be! And we've also been advised NOT to DTD everyday as that reduces sperm quality.

notyetamumbuttrying · 09/02/2021 17:37

Welcome to all our lovely newbies! I've been a rubbish bus driver and not posted in a while. Cd2 so feeling very meh and uninspired but usually I'm upbeat, promise! 😁
Like many of you, we have male factor too and are seeking ivf.
We have an nhs appointment on the 22nd feb for a repeat SA and to check my AMH.
We've heard the wait times are through the roof! 9 months earliest, 14 longest so we've booked some private appointments to try a quicker route. Luckily it won't forfeit our nhs round as long as we don't go over 2 rounds.
So I have my AFC scan booked for 8th March and the private consultation on the 10th March. If they say we can do short protocol which I'm sure they will considering it's male factor, I'm hoping to start at the following period which would be 30th March! 🤞🏾

Annny27 · 09/02/2021 17:53

@notyetamumbuttrying oh so if you get private it doesn't forfeit you nhs entitlement if the private round isn't successful?? I assumed you would be off the nhs list!!

@MIW01 welcome over here too :D long time thread buddies and long time ttc buddies.......

Fern346 · 09/02/2021 17:58

@notyetamumbuttrying that’s so exciting! And really not that far away at all. It must be good to feel like something is happening now 😁.

@Marvellouslymadmum it’s good your being sent for tests but annoying they won’t do a SA, Especially when 50% of the time it’s MFI. I also seem to think that miscarriages/chemicals can be a result of poor sperm quality - things that can be approved, so definitely worth pushing for.

@MIW01 that’s interesting about the age thing, I’m 33 and our consultant considers me to be young in terms of fertility, so definitely not that much of an issue I don’t think. I also started to research my family tree recently and noticed all my ‘ancestors’ were having babies well into their 40s!
I get so confused as to how often to dtd, especially with MFI! Never sure if we’re over doing it or not doing it enough.

@BrightSideRightSide two of my cousins also just had babies.. and it does feel like everyone is pregnant and everyone is going on about a ‘lockdown baby boom’ sigh.

On another note, Marcella is on TV tonight, so there’s something to look forward to 😂.

Hope everyone is well x

Marvellouslymadmum · 09/02/2021 18:04

@notyetamumbuttrying you must be pleased to be getting your tests soon? I have to wait for my next af for the 21 day then after that for anything else but I'm hoping it doesn't take that long!

@Fern346 I know, I don't know why she wasn't keen for his sa as I've got a feeling it's got a big part of what's going on 😕 but I may push for that one on my next apt with her.

Fern346 · 09/02/2021 18:10

@Marvellouslymadmum would he call his own GP to ask for one? Or are you with the same GP? When I initially called my GP about it all, she told me to tell DH to organise a SA with his own GP. Not fair that us women have to have all the fun of being poked and prodded before they will even consider the man.

Marvellouslymadmum · 09/02/2021 18:14

@Fern346 we are with the same surgery so same gp really, I think he will be reluctant to call himself though lol he's not great with that kind of thing so I'm Hoping I can get her to do it through me

MIW01 · 09/02/2021 18:30

Tha ks @Anny27 just having a nose and seems there more unfortunate souls I relate to and all offerring a wealth of support.

Thank you for the welcome @notyetamumbuttrying we've been advised that wait times in this area are up to a year after referral!

@Fern346 sperm live for an average of 2-3 days so DTD every 2-3 days ought to be sufficient!

notyetamumbuttrying · 09/02/2021 18:33

@Annny27 not in my area luckily! Someone else on another thread had to point this out to me so it's really helped with what package to go for, as think we'll use access fertility for the private clinic. Check your local ccg to see yours.
@Fern346 at long last yes! First got referred in sept so it's nice to have dates for tests again. It was all Dh last year as he saw a urologist once we got his abysmal SA results back! And I think every other day is plenty when it's male factor. We manage this during FW and only once in tww and that's it for us!
@Marvellouslymadmum yes defo! Less than two weeks sounds so good now. Been waiting for this one since 9th dec.
I hope it won't take too long either, waiting is hell when it comes to ttc 😂

RaidersoftheLostAardvark · 09/02/2021 20:08

Hello all, can I join please?
Been TTC our second for 13 months now, I'm 41 & OH 42 so likely age related problems. Had bloods done by GP & should be ovulating - plus very regular cycle. Feeling quite fed up with it all! Contemplating trying to arrange a private fertility consultation to make sure we're not missing anything - I don't want IVF as the stats show it's less likely to be successful than keeping on trying naturally at my age. Not sure what I want a fertility Dr to say - maybe tell me to give up??!

laura2093 · 09/02/2021 20:30

Only thing we haven't tried is things like pre-seed or conceive plus? Any reviews?

Tofu35 · 09/02/2021 20:56

@laura2093 we've used preseed before as a lubricant, and this month I used the applicator. There's been a few stories I've seen on here of women finding success using them, but have to wait and see if it's going to have the same result for me 😅

Dogmum13 · 09/02/2021 21:17

@MIW01 that's interesting as someone else said the other day that they were told to do it twice a day! 😱 I'm so confused and don't know what to do lol. I was researching it myself and it said twice a day especially if sperm count is low could help 🤷‍♀️

notyetamumbuttrying · 09/02/2021 22:01

@RaidersoftheLostAardvark yes of course, welcome 🤗 couldn't hurt to get fertility tests if it's an option for you. It can defo still happen at 41 so don't give up hope just yet! Do you both take supplements?
@laura2093 we tried preseed but we don't really need it so didn't use it more than a few times. Pointless for us as we used it before knowing what the issue was. Only thing that'll work for us is ivf unless his sperm miraculously improves.
@Dogmum13 just do what you can I guess. Twice a day is a big ask all FW. Just do it twice on peak or something. Don't stress yourself over it though x
