@Dogmum13 ah I see. My sister is asthmatic and also works with kids (teacher) I hope she gets called up soon! Will you get it whilst ttc then?

OP posts:
Dogmum13 · 26/01/2021 18:30

@notyetamumbuttrying yes 🤞🤞 she will. I will get it if it's before we start dtd that cycle if that makes sense. They say now it's safe to get it as long as your not actually pregnant

notyetamumbuttrying · 26/01/2021 18:46

@Dogmum13 ah yeah, makes sense. I'll be intrigued to see what the hospital recommends for me. I know some clinics are telling ivf patients not to get it so I'm all all a wonder at the mo lol!

Where did you read that advice please @Dogmum13 ?

I’ve held off getting the vaccine, so I’m still not sure what to do.

Motherofkittens28 · 26/01/2021 19:18

@Yutes at my ivf appointment today they said I couldn't have the vaccine within a week of egg collection but otherwise it was ok and if I got pregnant not to have the second dose.

Dogmum13 · 26/01/2021 19:24

@Yutes it was on the news

notyetamumbuttrying · 26/01/2021 19:24

@Motherofkittens28 that's interesting! How else did the appointment go? Do you have timelines now?

OP posts:
Yutes · 26/01/2021 19:25

Thanks @Motherofkittens28

Still not sure, but I’ll discuss it with my specialist

Motherofkittens28 · 26/01/2021 19:39

@notyetamumbuttrying it went fine thanks. Mostly it was talking through all the medication and how to administer it. So I'm starting downregulating on Saturday, start the stims around the 13th with egg collection around the 26th and embryo transfer 3rd March. Im ready to get going but a bit nervous about the injections and the potential side effects

notyetamumbuttrying · 26/01/2021 19:55

@Motherofkittens28 what are the potential side effects? Good you have dates and can get going! Will you get Dh to do the injections? That's what I'm thinking I'll do, but we'll see when the time comes! Not had my first appointment yet so still trying to get a gage of it all.

OP posts:
Motherofkittens28 · 26/01/2021 21:24

@notyetamumbuttrying, the buserelin you take to downregulate puts you into menopause so you can get hot flushes, headaches, nausea and interestingly changes in the way things smell and taste! So I could catch covid and not even realise.
No, I will do them myself but I might get him to help set them up for me. I'd rather be in control of putting the needle in and I reckon it would freak him out! I've done it before when I froze my eggs, although its different medication this time and I was only on a short protocol that time. I'll keep you all posted over the next 5 weeks as I go through the cycle, might give people an idea what expect if they go down the same route

notyetamumbuttrying · 26/01/2021 22:01

Yes please that would be really useful thank you @Motherofkittens28. So is what you're doing now a long protocol? How do you know what sort of protocol they'll do? As mines male factor I'm guessing I'll be on short as my cycles are regular, I ovulate etc.

After last week's chat about the "just in case" dtd days, im glad I follow this advice! App said I was due to ovulate on CD20, but we start on around day 11.
So it's CD18, now and got a solid smiley on the ovulation test. Glad we had those 'just in case' days!

Tofu35 · 27/01/2021 10:17

Thanks @Motherofkittens28, it would be really helpful to hear about your experiences. Take some of the 'unknown' away from it (or the stuff that doesn't appear on a pamphlet)

I had my vaccine waiting for 2nd(sometime in the distant future ) as a nurse on special care baby unit. The risk from covid is far higher and I don't think there's any vaccine in existence that causes problems with pregnancy and conceiving its just that they can't disprove it as it hasn't happened. I'm waiting for my hyscosy but have uss for afc on 13th had very little pms when last cycle was a monster but now bbt dropped down to where it usually stays 4 days before AF. Try not to get hopes up but feel a little blue today. Just want some answers! Think i was just pushing ttc out of my head and doing surprisingly well but true to form its bit me in the arse today and due on when I'm at work 😔 good luck to everyone wherever you're at and keeping everything crossed

Motherofkittens28 · 27/01/2021 10:32

@notyetamumbuttrying the protocol will depend on your AMH and antra follicle count scan. I have regular cycles and ovulate but my AMH is at the low end for my age and I had 10 follicles when they did the count. Because of that they don't expect a great response to the drugs so they do a more aggressive protocol (the long one). If you have a good AMH and a high follicle count they will put you on a short one I think, because they don't want to over stimulate you and put you at risk of ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome. If you get that they can't do a fresh transfer and will have to freeze all the embryos for a frozen transfer a few months later.

Motherofkittens28 · 27/01/2021 10:34

@notyetamumbuttrying have you had the AMH test? I think its part of the day three bloods so you likely have.

@Motherofkittens28 thank you. Not had my amh tested yet. Getting that done at the feb appointment. My gp wouldn't do it and said it was done once you got referred.
@CreativeThinkerTequilaDrinker good you're booked in! Similar timing as me. No, neither of us have stepped foot inside guys yet nor talked to anyone there. Dh got referred to urology via the gp and had his bloods and scan via her at our local hospital. The referral was put through by her in November, we got a letter in dec saying the first appointment with guys would be 22nd feb. So we've just been waiting ever since...x

@CreativeThinkerTequilaDrinker if that's the case get him to see a gp and they'll refer him. No harm doing it alongside the other referral. We had two referrals at the same time, 1 for fertility and the other for urology. Dh got his appointment through within about two weeks of seeing the gp. Seems to go a lot quicker when it's the man...funny that! When's his second tests again? I'm itching for this repeat SA to happen. Would be so nice to see an improvement even if just marginal. Could do with the lift! 4 more weeks to go now!
Came off the pill in September'19 so 17 months next month, feels like a flipping lifetime doesn't it! X

@CreativeThinkerTequilaDrinker are you waiting on the results or has he not gone yet? Glad you're feeling ok with cd1. You get resound to it after so long don't you.
