@positivevibes88

I conceived my first in the 2nd month,
Sorry I pressed post before I had finished!! As I say my first happens in the second month with very little effort. He's 4 now and we've been TTC #2 since July, with no joy. I'm worrying I've left it too late (I'm 32 now) sex seems like such a chore to have to do it at a certain time and since having DS we're too tired at the best of times! It's causing a strain in our relationship. I've tried OPK's, fertility lubricant, charts, vitamins - hell, I even paid a £5 for a baby psychic reading! 😂 (it was wrong!) just starting to lose heart a bit now.

It took me 12 months (including a MC) for DC1 at age 32. I'd say most friends of mine took a minimum of 6 months to get pregnant, some over a year, some years.

I read somewhere that you only have a 25% chance of getting pregnant each cycle so really the odds are not in your favour.

Are you temping and tracking your ovulation?

Thank you, that makes me feel a bit more reassured. Did you end up having any more children? I think we were wrongly confident that it would be the same this time around and happen quickly, forgetting that I'm now 5 years older. I have been doing OPK's but not temperature tracking, I don't really understand how you do that. I can't decide whether to just stop tracking altogether and relax for a while or to start doing extra things like temperature etc x

I got pregnant on the first month which sadly ended in a MMC and then took 14 months to get pregnant again.

I hand on heart think it's down to luck a lot of the time. You can do every single thing right and the egg or sperm that month just isn't upto scratch.

I know the wait can be horrendous and every month feels like a year.

gypsywater · 23/12/2020 15:35

It took me 8 cycles to get a BFP but sadly had a MMC at 10+4. Now on Cycle 2 of trying again.

notdaddycool · 23/12/2020 15:36

About 15 months for first, but we had a couple of months off to avoid a July/August baby, 3 for the second.

frugalforager · 23/12/2020 15:36

1st age 30 - 2 months
2nd age 33 - 2 months
3rd age 36 - 3 months (then miscarriage)
4th age 36 - 1 month

gypsywater · 23/12/2020 15:38

I think 6 months ish is about average once you hit your 30s?

SaveWaterDrinkGin · 23/12/2020 15:39

2.5 years first time, currently six months pregnant with DC2 who was conceived second cycle 🤷🏻‍♀️ and I’m over 35. I know it’s easy to say as when you’re trying it’s all you can think about, but try to chill a bit. OPK’s definitely help I think but as a PP said it’s down to luck. I wish you lots of it OP!

SEpoppet · 23/12/2020 15:39

Interested to hear what people say...ttc #1 aged 33, going into month 5. Feels like a slog!

BreadmanAndCake · 23/12/2020 15:41

2 years for our first, about 2 weeks for our second.

Highfalutinlootin · 23/12/2020 15:46

Took me 2 months, one of my friends 5 months, and another friend 7 years and a few rounds of IVF. We're all the same age, early 30s. It's pure luck for most.

I think the only thing you can control that helps is doing temping and OPKs to be sure you're having enough sex around ovulation. I read a lot of posts on here where women have been TTC for many months but only have sex one or twice during fertile windows or often miss fertile windows due to not knowing. Getting an app like Fertility Friend so you can see other women's charts and stats of success for different patterns of timing is very informative.

Bluebellpainting · 23/12/2020 15:48

8 months for my 1st- I was 28.
We are now trying to decide whether to go for baby number 2 as if I got pregnant in the next couple of months it wouldn’t be a disaster but not ideal but we don’t want to leave it and end up with a massive gap.

Darcy86 · 23/12/2020 15:59

I am currently 31+5 with my first and I'm 34 (was 33 when we conceived). Got pregnant on our 7th month of trying. Agree with pp who said it's down to luck a lot of the time - and timing! Good luck.

CinnamonTeaForMe · 23/12/2020 16:00

Dc1 - first time
Dc2 - 11 months
3rd - pregnant on second cycle but miscarried at 11 weeks

Chanel05 · 23/12/2020 16:07

18 months including a mmc. 8 months for first pregnancy and 8 months second - my now dd.

Pumpertrumper · 23/12/2020 16:18

We’ve TTC twice, aged 26 & 27.

Both times we conceived on the first cycle.
First time we had ovulation strips/fertility lube and DTD constantly. Second time we had ovulation strips but normal lube and only DTD twice.

We were pretty lucky

Pumpertrumper · 23/12/2020 16:18

(I was 26& 27 DH is in his 30’s)

MrsB2019x · 23/12/2020 16:38

We started TTC in October 19, fell pregnant in April but that was ectopic. We had to wait 3 months before we could try again so July - I got my BFP 2 weeks ago

NewMumOrpington · 23/12/2020 16:51

I was 32 when we started trying and it took 20 cycles. We had all the tests and nothing wrong, just took some time. Good luck OP!

jumperweather · 23/12/2020 17:12

30yr old - 1 month
31yr old - 1 month

Not sure if I'll be that lucky again if I were to try for a 3rd!

Sparrowfeeder · 23/12/2020 17:16

8 months to conceive, just ended in a miscarriage. Yet to see how long it will take for a first actual child...

laPufalina · 23/12/2020 17:23

Second proper cycle after coming off the pill for first (age 36) for DC1
First cycle (age 38) for DC2
Very, very lucky.

polkadotpixie · 23/12/2020 17:29

12 cycles aged 33

Chocolate1992 · 23/12/2020 17:30
