OP posts:
Plsv87 · 23/12/2020 17:33

Conceived on the 18th month of trying first time, then an accident, then first month of trying.

greenemerald · 23/12/2020 17:33

2 years for DS 8mo.

greenemerald · 23/12/2020 17:34

Oh and aged 28

Plsv87 · 23/12/2020 17:34

To add, I was 31 when starting to try with first, had her at 33. Conceived accidentally at 34 and first month trying at 35.

christmasathomeagain · 23/12/2020 17:38

Took 13 months first time and 3 the second.

We fid start trying when first was just 9 months old.

Mommabear20 · 23/12/2020 17:39

We were trying for 18 months with no luck, decided to take a break from trying as we had a lot of family events coming up and then fell pregnant with DD the first month we started trying again, and then with this pregnancy it was 2nd month of trying.

YakkityYakYakYak · 23/12/2020 17:40

Similar to you OP.

DD1 I conceived pretty much immediately (at 30).

Now trying for a second, at 33, and have been trying since July too with no luck.

I think a lot of it is luck, and in our case not always having as much time or energy to properly commit to ‘trying’ at the right times.

YakkityYakYakYak · 23/12/2020 17:41

Sorry @Sparrowfeeder Flowers

NigellasMicrowave · 23/12/2020 17:43

Four cycles which sadly ended in an ectopic.

Now have to wait until the Spring to try again, so who knows.

Mishmased · 23/12/2020 17:44

Child 1 aged 25-first month
Child 2 aged 28-first month
Pregnancy 3 aged 34-first month mc @7weeks
Pregnancy 4 aged 34-2 months post mc (currently 17 weeks pregnant)
I did track my cervical mucus and had sex around ovulation. Our bodies are different, best of luck.x

Mishmased · 23/12/2020 17:49

DH is a year older than me.

MrsFluffyMuff · 23/12/2020 17:54

Four children

2 unplanned
2 conceived within 4 weeks of coming off the pill

GQKP · 23/12/2020 18:30

Flowers to all those struggling.

First month both times for me.

JamieFrasersSwingingKilt · 23/12/2020 18:45

Please don't worry too much OP. You do still have time on your side and you haven't been TTC for 6 months yet. I know it's more easily said than done though.

It took us 9 months for our first. I was 35. And then we conceived the first weekend we tried for our second DC when I was 39. My DH was most put out! It's a lottery!

Bleepers · 23/12/2020 18:56

Youre not too old at 32. That is just crazy to think that and it's not true. Most of my friends conceived fairly easily in their 30s (early, mid and late) but it can take longer sometimes. Im sure it will happen for you but you're definitely not too old!

positivevibes88 · 23/12/2020 19:17

@PutOnAHappyFace

I got pregnant on the first month which sadly ended in a MMC and then took 14 months to get pregnant again.

I hand on heart think it's down to luck a lot of the time. You can do every single thing right and the egg or sperm that month just isn't upto scratch.

I know the wait can be horrendous and every month feels like a year.

I think you're maybe right you know. Maybe it isn't always down to making sure you DTD on exactly the right day and it can just be down to pure luck x

@SaveWaterDrinkGin

2.5 years first time, currently six months pregnant with DC2 who was conceived second cycle 🤷🏻‍♀️ and I’m over 35. I know it’s easy to say as when you’re trying it’s all you can think about, but try to chill a bit. OPK’s definitely help I think but as a PP said it’s down to luck. I wish you lots of it OP!
Thank you DaffodilI think I might have a month or so off doing the OPK's as it was originally making DH feel pressured but now it's starting to get me down too. Think I'll have a few months just chilled, just writing my expected period date in a diary or something but other than that relaxing and then trying again in the spring. Hopefully by then things might be better with covid etc anyway and partners might be allowed back to scans etc by then fingers crossed x

@BreadmanAndCake

2 years for our first, about 2 weeks for our second.
Wow.. quite a contrast!

CoffeeAndCaramel · 23/12/2020 19:23

My first was a 'surprise' at just 20
Second was planned and took 3 months

Just fell with my Third and it took three and a half years!! ( I'm 29)

Our bodies are strange, there doesn't seem to be much rhyme or rhythm to it!

Good luck xxx

SazCat · 23/12/2020 19:31

First took 7 months, at age 35. I was using ovulation tests but then had a couple of months off and that's when I got pregnant strangely!

I'm currently 23 wks pregnant with no 2. It was a year before I got a BFP that time (age 39) but unfortunately had an early MC. I fell pregnant again the very next month tho and all going well so far!

Trickyboy · 23/12/2020 19:58

Started at 28... finally conceived naturally at 33 following IVF (but not IVF conception) followed v swiftly by No. 2 13 months later and No.3 at 39... never used contraception.

That's three successful pregnancies in 11 years. At the beginning there were 5 miscarriages and between 2 & 3 their was one later term at 17 weeks.

All now adults. All home for Christmas. I am truly blessed. Never say never.

gypsywater · 23/12/2020 19:59

Apparently the 25% chance per month is when you've been doing it on the right days even!

LouJ85 · 23/12/2020 20:04

I came off the pill in June this year and fell pregnant in July. I'm 35.

Ponyolikesham · 23/12/2020 20:07

I feel your pain. I’m in a similar boat. DC1 was conceived in the first cycle, 3 years ago when I was 30.

Now I’m 33 and we’ve been trying for DC2 since March (currently cycle 10). I wonder what’s changed between now and then? Maybe it’s luck, or maybe it’s the fact that I’m so much more stressed and unhealthy than I was 3 years ago... working full time with a toddler etc. I have regular periods but I’m still breastfeeding so I wonder if that is also having some effect.

LouJ85 · 23/12/2020 20:17

@LouJ85

I came off the pill in June this year and fell pregnant in July. I'm 35.

And just to add I was using ovulation kits to predict my most fertile period for that month.
