It’s that time again, the 5th post-pill thread of ladies who are experiencing the highs and lows (mainly the lows…) of coming off the pill and TTC! Here you’ll find stories of delayed ovulation, crazy long follicular phases, crazy short follicular phases, light AFs, short luteal phases, long luteal phases, confusing temp charts and blindingly white OPKs, to name a few. Join us, won’t you? We're a lovely bunch and we'd love to help you make sense of post-pill life if we can!

Does anyone use the clear blue OPK? I’m thinking about trying them next month as I can’t get a peak on the regular ones. I’m hoping this cycle is another 28 day and it will be easier to find it 😂. It has been a wonderful month of no tracking though but it would be nice to know when I’ve ovulated so we don’t have to keep DTD after. OH is really supportive of having to do it every other day though.

I’m cycle day 22 and the last couple of nights I’ve been having really strong AF style cramps to the point where it wakes me up and I can’t fall back to sleep until it stops. One night I went to bed with a hot water bottle it was that bad!

ChinChilly · 06/12/2020 10:44

@Moocher90 i use the easy@home ones last cycles, I’ve used the one stop ones aswell I find the easy@home ones better for some reason, I’ve never used the CB ones

Moocher90 · 06/12/2020 12:36

@Sperr I got the CB opk that tracks oestrogen and LH. Not tried it yet though

Sperr · 06/12/2020 14:12

@Moocher90 I think that’s the one I’m looking at- and you do it with FMU so I can do it before I go to work! When are you starting using them?

ChinChilly · 06/12/2020 14:15

I’m thinking of starting seven seas trying for a baby supplements, they seem to get generally good reviews but some people say they mess with your cycles so I’m not sure whether to risk it or not

Moocher90 · 06/12/2020 14:59

@sperr I’m currently CD8 so I’m going to wait a few more days and the CB instructions say FMU

Moocher90 · 06/12/2020 15:01

@ChinChilly yes I heard both that they are good but can mess up your cycle but then it’s very hit and miss I guess all you can do is maybe take them for 1 cycle and see if it does effect yours? Xx

Juno231 · 06/12/2020 15:41

@Moocher90 I use femometer ones. I think @MintGreenLife started off using a different brand that kept giving her a strong line no matter when she took them so she switched to femometer one as well as they're less sensitive so when they show you a line you know you're gearing up for OV and not because it's a random Tuesday lol.

@ChinChilly I'm sorry AF got you hard :( I tend to test 10dpo onwards as I feel it let's me down more easily than getting convinced this is it only due AF to shatter my hope fortress lol.

CD13 here and no peak opk yet! Managed to DTD yesterday so at least there are swimmers at the ready. Hoping for a peak opk tomorrow so will try and make sure to DTD then too.

Robyn101 · 06/12/2020 16:46

@Moocher90 I’m using Femometer ones now because you can scan them in on their app and it tells you LH% . Obviously isn’t incredibly reliable but helps me keep it in one place and see changes

Nellieee · 06/12/2020 16:47

@ChinChilly I've been taking Pregnacare TTC for a few weeks, and just got my first real period around a month after coming off the pill.

@Juno231 good luck with your peak 🤞🏽

Ladies, for those who track temps, what thermometer do/did you use? Just bought a cheapy under arm/tongue one from Wilko and I basically have hypothermia 😂. I know it's cold, but..! Not ideal to have an inaccurate reading. Any recommendations? The Braun Age Precision stick looks good.

Moocher90 · 06/12/2020 17:04

@Nellieee you need one that is to two decimal points e.g 36.32 not 36.2 xx I got mine off eBay I think. Femometer do a good one and I think a few of the ladies on here have that brand

Juno231 · 06/12/2020 17:11

@Nellieee braun won't hack it either I'm afraid! You need a two decimal thermometer, and it has to go into an orifice lol. Most of us do orally but vaginally is even more accurate if you can be bothered. 100% not armpit, ears or forehead as those won't give accurate readings. I just use a £10 femometer one from amazon that I've had since June :)

Nellieee · 06/12/2020 17:27

@Moocher90 @Juno231 thank you! Have just discovered a whole new world of basal thermometers. And who knew you could test vaginally?! Will order one this eve.

Juno231 · 06/12/2020 17:37

@Nellieee haha don't - everything TTC related has been so eye opening! I can't believe how little I knew before I started 😅

Nellieee · 06/12/2020 17:50

@Juno231 tell me about it. I thought I was clued up too. 🤦‍♀️ I only wish I'd come off the pill about six months ago, but oh well.

ChinChilly · 06/12/2020 18:54

@Juno231 I think you’re right the late AF got my hopes up so I think I’ll start testing from about 10dpo from now on

@Moocher90 I think I might look into them, they seem abit like marmite though people either love them or hate them

@Nellieee have you noticed any side effects? Folic acid on its own seems to make me sooo sick

Nellieee · 06/12/2020 19:39

@ChinChilly luckily not (and I had real problems with nausea going back onto the pill after a year or two break). Also started on Floradix liquid as I have low iron, and I think a side effect is also nausea. Surprisingly fine with the double whammy. Are you taking anything?

ChinChilly · 06/12/2020 19:47

@Nellieee I may give them a go then! I’ve recently had a general blood test done but not for TTC reasons but I’m guessing if anything was low they would of let me know, I may chase it up because my GP is fairly usless!

I’m not taking anything at the moment (i know TTC sin to be not taking folic acid) but it just made me so ill I couldn’t justify taking it obviously if I got a BFP i would start taking it straight away, so i do really need to find something that works for me

Nellieee · 06/12/2020 20:49

@ChinChilly yeh have a go on it. Nausea is the worst, I feel your pain. The pills are MASSIVE so takes a bit of psyching myself up to take them. I am also a bit hopeless at remembering to take pills daily and have missed a few. Oops!

ChinChilly · 06/12/2020 21:02

@Nellieee I am also useless at remembering to take pills daily 😂 atleast you’re taking something unlike me, really need to sort myself out

Nellieee · 06/12/2020 21:22

I'm shocked I never had any accidents when I was on the pill tbh. Ah I wouldn't worry about it too much. There is a lot of pressure to do the 'right' thing these days with so much info at our disposal.

ChinChilly · 06/12/2020 22:32

@Nellieee there is alot of pressure & also alot of pressure to get pregnant straight away! Do you BBT at all? I’ve always written it off because I’m not sure it I would remember to do it each morning but I’m considoring starting it in the new year

Nellieee · 06/12/2020 23:34

@ChinChilly I know! I think the truth is, a lot of people struggle in silence. You mainly only hear the positive stories and gave no idea about the hard ones. Have just ordered a basal thermometer this evening to start - I like to be in control of situations, or at least better know what's going on! Stupidly bought a cheapy earlier, but it only had one decimal place (and suggested I had hypothermia!!). Got the Beurer OT30 BT one from Lloyds pharmacy. £22 down from £79 apparently. Are you thinking you might track BBT?

ChinChilly · 07/12/2020 09:28

@Nellieee I like the idea of temping but I don’t think I could commit to doing it every morning before I did anything else.

Juno231 · 07/12/2020 09:31

Oh better put out when he comes home from work today 🤣
