It’s that time again, the 5th post-pill thread of ladies who are experiencing the highs and lows (mainly the lows…) of coming off the pill and TTC! Here you’ll find stories of delayed ovulation, crazy long follicular phases, crazy short follicular phases, light AFs, short luteal phases, long luteal phases, confusing temp charts and blindingly white OPKs, to name a few. Join us, won’t you? We're a lovely bunch and we'd love to help you make sense of post-pill life if we can!

@Kay00 the one say at 21 days was light and only like 3 days but more than just spotting and then 14 days later was I would’ve said was a normal period. Maybe the previous one was from ovulation but I would say whilst light it was too much if you know what I mean! I was on the pill for nearly 15 years give or take so I wonder if my body is still just struggling to regulate itself. I started taking pregnacare at the beginning of this cycle so will see if that changes anything. I’m currently CD 12 and can’t say I’ve particularly noticed anything that would say I’ve ovulated but stil DTD in my projected fertile window so we will see 🤞🏻

LauraT94 · 25/11/2020 13:54

@Emmgrem sounds very similar to my cycle this month. I had a LH surge around CD18, but didn't ovulate. Then had EWCM and some fresh red spotting and ovulated at CD35 🤷🏼‍♀️ so as @Juno231 says, perhaps this is just ovulation spotting for you too!

MancMama39 · 25/11/2020 14:07

@TheHotelCalifornia omg I have goosebumps reading about your BFP!! Absolutely over the moon for you, huge congratulations!!

What a week! It's wonderful to see so many BFPs! Xxx

Flowerbudd · 25/11/2020 14:31

@TheHotelCalifornia OMG!! Congratulations what amazing news ❤️❤️ thats a lovely line for 9DPO!! 😀😀 xx

Kay00 · 25/11/2020 15:04

Excellent Smile i'm really looking forward to haring your full story @thehotelcalifornia

Kay00 · 25/11/2020 15:08

@JenLouNic86 hmmm... Ovulation at day 21 and a full period 14 days later sounds much better than a 21 and 14 day cycle, hopefully that's what it was Smile. Its difficult not knowing either was as either way it will effect how the apps predict you future fertile periods.

JenLouNic86 · 25/11/2020 15:13

Thanks @Kay00 that’s true actually, I really didn’t think it would be ovulation spotting but maybe it was, I missed the boat with ovulation that time if it was though, so will see what happens this month, like you say not knowing what is what means it’s difficult to track. I’ve entered the details on the Ovia app so it’s now saying my average cycle is only 19 days long which obviously is just not long enough so maybe the vitamins etc will help

Emmgrem · 25/11/2020 15:45

@LauraT94 oh really?! Hoping maybe I will still ovulate then, but I can't be right now- cramping, bleeding, feeling emotional and 0 on my OPK so feels more like a period but can't be at only CD19 🤷🏻‍♀️
Definitely no way I could DTD right now. Feel crap compared to CD5-7 when it felt like I was ovulating and had EWCM!
Did you get an LH surge at the same time you had ovulation spotting or did that all happen after and did you get cramps too?

Moocher90 · 25/11/2020 16:54

@TheHotelCalifornia congratulations on the BFP xx

@MeganCharl1 I came off contraception at end of august. Didn’t get withdrawal bleed until 1st week of October and just had my 1st period after withdrawal bleed at CD40. Now onto my 2nd cycle post pill and depo.

So I had to go A&E today. In complete agony and somehow have managed to get a water infection so I am on antibiotics for the next 7 days :( I’m CD7 today so I really hope this does not stop me from ovulating or delaying ovulation!!! Anyone worth experience of UTI and having this effect?!

Moocher90 · 25/11/2020 17:02

@meganchar1

Sorry I mistyped..... see above post

TheDaydreamBelievers · 25/11/2020 17:06

@meganchar1 I was 181 days so you dont want to emulate me! Can take quite some time.

@TheHotelCalifornia what a brilliant way to start the thread and all the congratulations in the world!!!

Intro to me for this thread:
Came off the pill March 2020.
Took ages to have a period. Honestly the second longest I have ever read (181 days).
However, got a BFP at day 47 of cycle 2.
Unfortunately learned last week that I have suffered a missed misscarriage at 10+5 weeks (discovered at 12 weeks +2 days pregnant).
I have surgery booked next week then will maybe be back here afterwards.

I know the above is a pretty sad tale, but I think it also shows that those of us with whacky post pill cycles can nonetheless get a BFP.

Kay00 · 25/11/2020 17:40

@thedaydreambelievers Sad It is indeed very sad, we are all so sorry for you. We will be here to give you all the support we can whilst you TTC your rainbow baby xxx Flowers

@moocher90 Shock oh no!! A&E!! It must have been really bad Sad I had a UTI last cycle... I was pretty ill for about a week but didn't want to take antibiotics (silly I know!). So i took some sachets to help with cystitis (even though my UTI was in my kidneys and not my bladder) they worked, but they work by making your system more alkaline... but you know what loves an alkaline environment? Thrush! Haha... I then had raging thrush for two weeks... I was not a happy bunny. Probably best you just take the antibiotics and get better soon xx

Moocher90 · 25/11/2020 17:45

@Kay00 yes mine is my kidneys! Wee doesn’t sting at all. Feel like the kidneys have done 10 rounds with Mike Tyson! So much so I had throbbing/shooting pains :/ and just hurt to sit, stand or walk. I’m glad to have the antibiotics as want to feel normal ASAP. Now at home in my onesie with a hot water bottle and just feel so uncomfortable as it’s a constant pain 😡

Kay00 · 25/11/2020 19:19

@moocher90 😔 kidney infections are really horrible, I hope you recover quickly xx

LauraT94 · 25/11/2020 19:30

@Emmgrem that really does sound like a period then! It might just take you a couple of cycles to even out into a longer cycle.

I had the spotting for two days, thought AF was coming so didn't test LH. Then after a day of no spotting and no AF, feeling horny and lots of EWCM I took an OPK and it was really strong! And yes I cramped with ovulation. I think I'm 2dpo and still feel a mild cramping

@Moocher90 that sounds horrendous! Glad you managed to get some antibiotics and hope you feel better soon!

@TheDaydreamBelievers I'm sorry you have had such an awful experience. Thank you for sharing your story though ❤️ I hope the surgery goes smoothly and you feel better mentally and physically very soon ❤️

Moocher90 · 25/11/2020 19:31

@Kay00 thank you xx

Moocher90 · 25/11/2020 19:33

Thank you @LauraT94 :) I hope so too! I’m in so much pain and nothing I can do to ease it! I hope in a few days time I will be feeling much better

snow90 · 25/11/2020 19:59

Hi everyone :) I'd like to join this thread please! I've been lurking for about a week and have just plucked up the courage to post.

I came off the pill in May and had withdrawal bleed in June. Didn't then get AF until end of Aug, then the next mid Oct and currently waiting for the next!

In hindsight I wish I'd come off the pill earlier but I didn't know it could cause such problems until I googled afterwards! I'd been on the pill for nearly 10 years so in all honesty I can't remember what AF cycle length was like beforehand!

Kay00 · 25/11/2020 20:11

@snow90 Welcome!! With super long cycles like yours you're certainly in the right place! Quite a few of us have long long cycles... my last cycle was 48 days for example. Do you do anything to track temperature? Or do you do OPKs?

snow90 · 25/11/2020 20:15

@Kay00 I've downloaded an app for the first time this month to track and I'm looking into OPKs. Are there any recommendations on which to get? After this AF will be the first time TTC eek!

LauraT94 · 25/11/2020 20:19

Hi @snow90 ! :)

I wish we were told how difficult it makes things before we start talking the pill! Might have made some of us think twice..

Deffo second the recommendation to start doing OPKs and tracking temps if you can?

I got the Femometer digital thermometer on Amazon, think it was £9.99?? But any thermometer that takes your temperature to two decimal points will work.

I also bought the Femometer LH tests. Think it was a pack of 50 LH tests and 20 HCG tests, also on Amazon.

I think most of us use Fertility Friends app to track. I also use Premom and Femometer whilst I'm working out which I like most!

Cams50 · 25/11/2020 20:23

@TheHotelCalifornia huge congratulations 😍🎉 such lovely news! And thanks for setting up the new thread and tagging me.

@TheDaydreamBelievers so sorry again. Such sad news ❤️😔

@Moocher90 that sounds very painful! I’ve been to A & E once for a really bad UTI but not while ttc but I’d would’ve thought now that you’ve started treatment you should be fine to ovulate on time

I’m 8dpo but don’t think it’s worked this cycle. My temps aren’t great and I feel the same as every other cycle. I have a short LP though so I’ll probably get AF on Friday and onto cycle 8 ttc. A family friend announced her pregnant today which is great news but just worried it will never happen for me but fingers crossed!

Juno231 · 25/11/2020 20:32

@snow90 hello! You've come to the right place! I echo laurat94 for all the recommendations :) I'm all about fertility friend!

MissC07 · 25/11/2020 21:45

@TheHotelCalifornia Huge congratulations on your BFP, looking forward to hearing all about it.

Just a quick update from me, I took my last pill last Monday, had withdrawal bleed on Saturday for 3 days and am now walking around like a ticking time bomb wondering when I’m going to go off!! (AF to arrive) Confused My partner wants to start trying straight away but I’m unsure whether to wait for my first AF, although understand that could take a while and the chances of BFP on the first attempt are very unlikely! I’m starting to wish I came off the pill a lot longer ago, it’s a lot more manageable when working from home!!!

mrsmacmc · 25/11/2020 22:01

@TheHotelCalifornia @MintGreenLife congratulations on your BFP!

Sorry ladies I went under a rock. Now dealing with shingles too - joy! Not thinking about TTC this month. Had an 8 day AF visit last cycle so feel completely out of whack ❤️
