It’s that time again, the 5th post-pill thread of ladies who are experiencing the highs and lows (mainly the lows…) of coming off the pill and TTC! Here you’ll find stories of delayed ovulation, crazy long follicular phases, crazy short follicular phases, light AFs, short luteal phases, long luteal phases, confusing temp charts and blindingly white OPKs, to name a few. Join us, won’t you? We're a lovely bunch and we'd love to help you make sense of post-pill life if we can!

@ChinChilly ha, right?! Pre covid I flapped massively as we were meant to go to India in Nov for a wedding and I was stressing about zika... A year later and here I still am 😅. Thats why I'm going ahead with job interviews as well, no point assuming I'll be pregnant any time soon and I don't want to keep my life on hold. I know someone who has been TTC for four years and wanting to leave her job the whole time!

ChinChilly · 04/12/2020 11:43

@Juno231 totally agree, there is no point putting your life on hold for something you can’t really control... Oh gosh 4 years that must be tough I’m finding 6 months hard 😂

Sperr · 04/12/2020 12:07

@Juno231my partner said to me when I was starting my new job was I sure about leaving as I had been at my other place a while! I didn’t want to risk missing a great career move for a small chance that I wouldn’t get maternity pay. I also thought which firm would I rather be at after maternity leave!

Nellieee · 04/12/2020 12:53

Good luck with the job search @Juno231. Isn't it hard that we have to make these decisions as women?! Such a conundrum with maternity packages and career progression.

PMA to you @ChinChilly!

Have decided to get a thermometer to start doing temp checks. I can be a bit obsessive and it appeals to me to be able to track to a T! 😂🥸 Doesn't help that I have no clue where my cycles are having come off the pill so recently. Currently on my fifth day of spotting!

AMS19 · 04/12/2020 13:04

@ChinChilly I cant cope with the waiting! Never mind you having will power, the rest of us don't, so you should test for our sakes 😂😂😂

Flowerbudd · 04/12/2020 13:11

@ChinChilly Ah bless you, still keeping everything crossed but it's good you're protecting yourself but you're not out just yet xx

@AMS19 hey :) it's going well thanks, 10 weeks now and having another scan tonight so 🤞🏻 all is still well. Symptom wise Ive been fairly lucky i think, tired some days and nauseas but really very mild. How are you? :) xx

ChinChilly · 04/12/2020 13:16

@AMS19 I’m going to test today if I’ve got a good enough hold or AF hasn’t turn up, problem with amazon deliveries it could take up until 10pm to arrive.

@Flowerbudd I haven’t had any more spotting but I’m 99% sure I’m out, I’ll test to rule it out and put my mind at rest 🙄 if AF turn ups and I get a BFN my body has been real arsehole this month 😂 Hope all is well with your scan, you definitely sound lucky with your symptoms!

AMS19 · 04/12/2020 13:29

@Flowerbudd oh wow so exciting!! 10 weeks is a great point as well. Please let us know how it goes! Im olay thank you. Still not convinced all will work out okay but taking each day as it comes and hoping for the best x

@ChinChilly I shall wait patiently then 😂🤞

ChinChilly · 04/12/2020 13:35

@AMS19 😂😂 I don’t think it will be the result we are hoping for, with the drop in RHR, spotting and my boobs have started to really hurt which is a typical AF is on its way sign for me 😂 it’s unusual for my period to be late though I’ve been like clockwork since I stopped the pill.
I have faith your little bean is a sticky one! ❤️

Moocher90 · 04/12/2020 15:23

:( I took a thyroid test with let’s get checked.... not good!

TSH is super high! But technically under range as in the uk it’s 10.

My sister has overactive thyroid and my nan has underactive :( got a gp telephone consult tomorrow anytime between 8-2pm tomorrow to discuss. I will explain I’m TTC and I have a few of the symptoms. The worry is I took one with hertilty the week before and it’s increased in 1 week from 5.24 to 8.98.... I’m devastated if it means they won’t give me medication to sort out the levels :(

@Kay00 what did your GP say?!

Flowerbudd · 04/12/2020 16:23

@ChinChilly Ah bless you, bodies can play mean tricks on you sure xx

@AMS19 of course I will 🙂
Aw Im sure all will be fine, I totally understand the worrying though keeping everything crossed for you xxx

Kay00 · 04/12/2020 16:58

@moocher90 that is indeed quite high 🙁 but don't be too upset as there are meds you can take to bring you back within the ideal range. I have no doubt your doctor will send you for some more blood tests.

I just got off the phone from my doctor, she was really nice, asked me lots of questions and took seriously everything I said.

I told her I have TSH of 3.79 which she agreed was at the high end of normal but she said it shouldn't stop me conceiving nor should it be an issue in pregnancy which was reassuring.

She agreed that due to my low BBT and other symptoms (particularly the strange illness I had 2 years ago) she will send me for another thyroid test.

Also, because my cycles haven't settled into a pattern yet she's sending me for the baseline hormone test too just in case of PCOS. She doesn't think I need to be referred to the fertility clinic yet as its 'early days' and I am confident that I'm ovulating.

My appointment to give bloods is 14th Dec

Hopefully that's helpful Moocher xxx

CharWils · 04/12/2020 16:59

@TheDaydreamBelievers so sorry to see your news, catching up so sorry I'm late to see it. Can only imagine how sad you must feel (it's my biggest fear atm) but hoping you feel better in yourself soon, look after yourself and sending lots of positive thoughts for going forward with TTC xx

CharWils · 04/12/2020 17:10

@ChinChilly fingers crossed for when you test later.

@LauraT94 I don't think we have spoken before but congratulations on your BFP

@Flowerbudd, @AMS19, @MintGreenLife @TheHotelCalifornia how are you all getting on? Still all going okay hopefully (again playing catch-up so sorry if I have missed anything on here)

@Juno231 I can't see your original post but from looking at replies looks like you are going for a new job?

Updates also welcome from anyone else, love to keep up with how everyone is doing on here

MintGreenLife · 04/12/2020 17:35

@CharWils hey ☺️ I’m good thanks. I’m 5+4 today and have my first midwife appointment booked for the 15th of December, although we may be moving house a few day’s after (still so up in the air 🙄) so not sure how that’s going to work and feel like it’s going to make everything really complex. Apart from mild nausea today and boob pain I’m otherwise feeling pretty good ☺️ Xx

MintGreenLife · 04/12/2020 17:36

@Kay00 so glad tour GP is taking you seriously and sending you for more tests. Sure it’ll all work our soon, but good to get the ball rolling now xx

MintGreenLife · 04/12/2020 17:38

@Moocher90 sorry to hear about your results. I don’t think 10 is the upper limit for TSH, as my NHS results had 5 as the upper limit I believe. A higher result means under active thyroid. I think you possibly may be right with the limit being 10 to medicate though, but hopefully you won’t find that’s the case! Xx

Moocher90 · 04/12/2020 17:42

@MintGreenLife think under 10 is subclinical for TSF as has to be over 10 to medicate I believe x

ChinChilly · 04/12/2020 18:21

My tests from amazon have been delayed until Sunday FFS 😂 I’m going to pop to a supermarket tonight and get one of their own cheapies! What a disaster this is 😂

CharWils · 04/12/2020 18:47

Good to hear, fingers crossed with the house and it doesn't make things too complex. That's so quick for a midwife appt, I'm not seeing mine till 14th Jan for the first time and I am 10+6 today, not sure if that is covid related or not though as first NHS scan is the 17th December so I guess they would normally do both at the same time then!?

CharWils · 04/12/2020 18:47

@MintGreenLife see below 😂

CharWils · 04/12/2020 18:48

@ChinChilly what test are you waiting on, first response? Lots of supermarkets seem to do the clear blue early test ones if that helps?

ChinChilly · 04/12/2020 18:51

@CharWils they were first response but I’m 3 days late so surely should show on a cheapy by now? I’ve been holding myself since 4 so hopefully should be long enough, by the time i get back from tesco should be a good 3-3 and half hour hold

TheDaydreamBelievers · 04/12/2020 19:03

Yeah you'd be fine on a cheap one @ChinChilly!

MintGreenLife · 04/12/2020 19:08

@CharWils my appointment is just the booking appointment, but it’s 2 hours and over the phone. Have you not even had that yet?! Xx
