It’s that time again, the 5th post-pill thread of ladies who are experiencing the highs and lows (mainly the lows…) of coming off the pill and TTC! Here you’ll find stories of delayed ovulation, crazy long follicular phases, crazy short follicular phases, light AFs, short luteal phases, long luteal phases, confusing temp charts and blindingly white OPKs, to name a few. Join us, won’t you? We're a lovely bunch and we'd love to help you make sense of post-pill life if we can!

@LauraT94 your chart is definitely looking exciting, keeping everything crossed for you 🤞🏼

@Kay00 sounds like you’ve got a good plan of action regarding your test results!

MintGreenLife · 03/12/2020 11:54

@Kay00 I think there was around 2-2.5 months between my tests, and I went gluten and dairy free pretty soon after my first higher test. Yeah I cut out gluten completely, so the only bread or pasta I have is gluten free, I check things like stock cubes, even had to make sure my supplements were all gluten and dairy free. I now eat a lot of rice and potatoes, as well as eggs, fruit, veg, meat, fish etc, but I do occasionally have gluten free pasta or bread, and dairy free chocolate. I expect over the last few months I may have been exposed to traces of gluten, but I've been careful to make sure I'm not eating anything that knowingly has gluten in. It was actually easier than I thought it would be, and I'm carrying on through pregnancy for now xx

Juno231 · 03/12/2020 11:58

@Kay00 def listen to mint - she's the resident tsh expert! I agree with raising it to the gp and just say you've been trying 7 months. No point wasting time when the referral times can be very long on the NHS!

Juno231 · 03/12/2020 12:01

@Kay00 the only other thing I'd say is that subclinical hypothyroidism can also be caused by an iodine deficiency so I bought iodised salt too.

ChinChilly · 03/12/2020 12:19

@MintGreenLife my OH’s mother has a major gluten intolerance, funnily enough she developed it during her last pregnancy. I’m not sure if you have found this but I am shocked at how much secret gluten is hiding in food or drinks that you wouldn’t expect it to be in!

Kay00 · 03/12/2020 12:28

@MintGreenLife @ChinChilly yes, this is my fear! I'm a little worried about having to change my diet so drastically. The good thing is I eat huge volumes of fruit and veg already and not that much bead or pasta. Maybe I'll cut back on dairy but I'm not sure I can go cold turkey Grin haha.

@Juno231 thank you. I will look to get some Iodised salt and selenium supplements too.

MintGreenLife · 03/12/2020 12:32

@Kay00 maybe you wouldn't need to worry about dairy, the only reason I cut that out too is because of my IBS, which is a thing of the past now!

@ChinChilly I do have to check the back of everything I eat just in case, luckily allergens are usually in bold, so that makes it easier to spot :)

Kay00 · 03/12/2020 12:41

@MintGreenLife I'm praying that I can keep the dairy, it would make my life a lot easier haha! I'll probably do a lot of research over the next few days.

Juno231 · 03/12/2020 12:49

@Kay00 I will say that "it starts with the egg" talks about how bad sugar is for TTC and rice commends cutting way back on fruit as well! Not to be a party pooper, just in case you didn't know. I'm the kind of person who will gladly attack a bottle of wine but if someone asks me if I'd like a banana I turn it down because of how high sugar they are 😂

Kay00 · 03/12/2020 13:04

@Juno231 oh no....!!! Haha! I love banana's! I probably only eat about 2/3 pieces of fruit a day... but I easily eat 5+ portions of veggies a day. My issue is probably all the cake I eat haha Grin. Clearly I need to re-think all of this!

ChinChilly · 03/12/2020 16:18

I finally ordered some tests with the last day of my prime subscription & the minute later I started getting AF style cramps 😂😂

MintGreenLife · 03/12/2020 16:31

@Juno231 @Kay00 interestingly I've read that book, and I've also read the Impatient Women's Guide to Getting Pregnant, and the later actually said that a study showed that women who ate more than two pieces of fruit a day were more likely to get pregnant. I think that ISWTE is more scientific though! I have a banana for breakfast every single day near enough, and probably 1-2 more pieces of fruit a day. What I don't eat is cake and biscuits etc, and only chocolate on the weekends, and not much really. I think I can recall ISWTE even suggested limiting high sugar veg intake like sweet potatoes and carrots, which I eat a lot of both!

Sperr · 03/12/2020 18:20

@Kay00 new job is going well thank you! So busy at the moment so my days are flying by. No time to think about anything 😜

@LauraT94 I saw that too! I have my birthday this month as well so part of me thinks I’d quite like to be able to have a wine as well then 😂. But still covering it by DTD every other day so it’s not a wasted month!

Kay00 · 03/12/2020 20:09

@MintGreenLife that makes me feel a little better. I eat carrots fairly regularly and sweet pots occasionally. But I eat heaps and heaps of cabbage/chard/spinach/broccoli/cauliflower etc. which apparently can impact the thyroids ability to utilise iodine and slows down thyroid function... oh dear.

Nellieee · 03/12/2020 20:21

@MissC07 they are funny are they?! Had three days of spotting now and keep thinking this is it. Doesn't helps that all preg symptoms mimic PMS symptoms 🙄 You might end up being one of those who get preg without having an actual period! 🤞🏽

LauraT94 · 03/12/2020 20:23

@ChinChilly @Kay00 thanks! AF still not arrived so I'm going to take a FRER in the morning if my temp hasn't dropped!

@Sperr drink till it's pink! Enjoy the wine while you can haha x

TheHotelCalifornia · 03/12/2020 20:34

Hey girlies! Sorry I’ve been AWOL over the past few days I’m still keeping up I promise! Nothing really to report, just POAS regularly and trying to keep calm haha! I’ve got the ball rolling with the midwife now so that’s good. Not really having any symptoms apart from feeling more tired than usual, and hungrier. Like I suddenly get very hungry which is not like me at all! And my boobs have definitely grown and just feel very ‘heavy’. So I guess those 3 haha! I did a Clearblue yesterday which said 2-3 weeks, and another IC today which looks a lot darker so feeling positive about those. Have one FRER and one Clearblue left and have told myself I can’t buy any more haha so that’s it! It’s so crazy how nothing happens these first few weeks. DH is being really cute though and we’re talking about everything that’s going on so I’m just trying to soak in these first weeks when it’s still just our little secret 😊 Hoping to share the news with our families at Christmas which is really exciting – we talk about that all time! So yes that’s my little update sorry it’s a bit boring! I honestly just feel so grateful and thankful and overwhelmed and a little bit in shock about it all still I think. How is everyone else getting on?

@TheDayDreamBelievers I am so so sorry for what you’re going through. Please know we’re always here if you need to talk to someone lovely, and if you want a private chat you can always message me. Sending so much love to you and your OH xxxx

@AMS19 sending all the positive thoughts your way too, please keep us updated lovely xxx

@LauraT94 Omg your chart looks amazing!! Keeping everything crossed for you! How are you feeling!?

@ChinChilly as if you haven’t tested yet! I LITERALLY cannot take the suspense here. I have a really good feeling about it. Not jinxing it though I promise!!

@Sperr thank you so much for the congratulations! 😊

@Kay00 good luck for your Drs appt tomorrow, please keep us updated on what they say. Get it all out! Just word vomit all over them (virtually)!!

@Juno321 in awe of your cycle knowledge as always, I wonder if I had an implantation dip or just an oestrogen dip? 5DPO, spotted the morning and afternoon of 6DPO. I mean we may never know but it’s all so interesting isn’t it! Hope you’re well too 😊

@LauraT94 keeping everything crossed for you!!

@TheHotelCalifornia ahh thats a lovely post ☺️ I have tests arriving tomorroe so will probably test Saturday Morning if AF still hasn’t turned up by then ill be 4-5 days late so should get a clear answer either way 😬

Kay00 · 03/12/2020 21:27

@chinchilly oh my!! 4-5 days late 🤯 you deserve an award for being so reserved 🏆😘

Thanks @thehotelcalifornia, I'll update everyone after the doctors appointment. Here's hoping shes sympathetic and offers to investigate my thyroid further🤞🤞

Its so lovely to see you're progressing nicely 😊

ChinChilly · 03/12/2020 21:32

@Kay00 I keep getting cramps that feel like AF is about to arrive so that’s been putting me off testing, but I will definitely test Saturday if she hasn’t got me by then 😂

TheDaydreamBelievers · 03/12/2020 22:14

Thanks @TheHotelCalifornia. Doing okay. Just waiting until no bleeding and negative tests (decided not to check until 1 week after surgery). Physically fine, mentally feeling quite flat and sad. Its early days I guess.

Hope all is well with you Smile

Robyn101 · 04/12/2020 00:19

Hi guys,
I’m brand new around here after not knowing where to turn where to talk etc.

I’m 27, TTC and came off the pill Sept 29th. Had a regular withdrawal bleed Sept 26th - Oct 4th and since then absolutely zilch. No signs of AF at all I’m starting to get concerned.

I’d been on the pill for over a decade, with very minimal stops at any point. I’m very overweight (working on it) and could do with losing around 5 stone to be back in a normal BMI

Worried I can’t ovulate, worried I can’t even have a period and don’t really want to be fat shamed at the doctors either. So here I am Sad

LauraT94 · 04/12/2020 06:16

@LauraT94 huge congratulations 🎉😍 such lovely news! So exciting. Would you mind sharing your journey?

@Robyn101 welcome! I really wouldn’t worry because I think it’s taken loads of ladies here a while to get their first proper af so I think it’s totally normal.

ChinChilly · 04/12/2020 07:28

@LauraT94 wohoooo 🎉 congratulations i knew your chart looked good 😉

Well my tests are coming today but im not sure I’ll be needing them, I’ve had some pink spotting this morning and RHR has taken abit of nose dive 😕
